    I have owned a successful digital marketing company for 8 years and transitioning into boat restoration your marketing advice is 1000% ACCURATE AND SPOT ON! I am only transitioning into boat restoration and heavy detail is because sitting inside at a computer all day made me depressed. The money I will make in restoration will be 10% of the money I was making in marketing but I dont care as my mental health mattered much more. I'm selling my marketing company for more than enough to even completely fail in the new business and never feel it. I mostly will be buying cheap, dirty boats and fully restoring them to flip as that was my passion before starting a marketing firm years back on a weird set of circumstances. I know my work ethic and sales experience will surely help. I have to say man, you are one hell of a smart dude. I just wanted to let you know that the info you gave in this video as far as marketing, and im sure the rest (I just dont have the experience in detail business to know how accurate that is) is spot on and the delivery method is just awesome. Your humble and spiritual and that alone will get you far in life. Anyhow, thinking of naming the company Hull Healers Boatworks & Restoration "We do a HULL of a job!" Thanks for the inspiration and sorry for the way to long message in a CZcams comment.

      I appreciate all of your comments! Ha thanks for the encouragement on this video! I give so many people the online advice and not to many people take me serious! Ha thanks again! Are you going to CZcams yourself flipping these boats? Sounds like a cool channel idea!

      @@DrakesDetailing I have been giving it serious thought. At one point I got into Twitch live streaming and made some CZcams videos of gaming and learned how to edit, work certain programs like OBS, Adobe Premier and other stuff. I have been doing some recording and think that with the next boat, a 2005 Maxum 180, im going to do a start of project to finish Vlog style/teaching style series. I am 2 months into a full restore of 1977 Mako 17 Angler and almost finished and have not video documented every step. I Will be under a different account as ill be setting one up for the new business and doing it on that channel. Yea man, your marketing tips are on point besides advising to use wix or those website templates. They can work in certain scenarios but, Google just sees them as duplicate content as everyone else that chose the same theme/template as you. The biggest thing, for SEO anyways, is CONTENT, CONTENT and believe it or not, content. Then add more content. Easiest way to do that is blogging. No the blog isn't to appeal to customers or give them something to read, they are not going to read it so make it as keyword rich as you can, its just to have fresh content for Googles bots. There is more that you can do obviously but as a Detailing company, you just need to show up in a 30 mile radius or so. Thats so much easier than nationwide SEO. Sometimes if you don't have 100 other Detailing companies in your area, you can get away with template based site, but that is rare. Also, never pay per click. Its a trap and a waste of money. Its ok to use while waiting on SEO to kick in but not worth it otherwise. And, all the calls you get from people claiming they are Google and your profile is incomplete are liars. Google doesn't make outbound calls, they don't need to. Love you videos though. Ill let you knlw when I get a new channel up and have my first restore video out.

    Hey man!!! I love your videos. Watched one of your tutorials on how to detail a boat and made $400 so thank you man. Just one thing about the LLC vs Sole Proprietorship. The LLC thing is right that if somebody fucks something up they cant come for you personally, but there is a catch. If you are the only employee of said company then it is possible someone could file a lawsuit against you directly if they wanted to and win. The LLC just makes it a bit more complicated. I wouldn't worry about it too much though it was more of an interesting piece of information more than a warning!!

    Hey Drake, Im really stoked I came across you channel. your a life saver. im learning a lot from you. im about to start a yacht service management company. with no experience all. lol well that's not true so to speak. I've been a mate on plenty of boats and a diving instructor on a liveabored in the past. I have done underwater hull cleaning and topside wash downs. just not detailing like you do. im also an operations manager for an environmental company I just left, so I have all the skills I think. (contracts people, hiring firing, perseverance and client communication). I want to work for myself. tired of running other peoples shit. lol im over here in orange county California. im gonna go with the model you suggested with the monthly and weekly programs. my idea is to be a one stop shop. (Detailing, wash downs, hull cleaning, all underwater work, dive instruction, captains, managing dry docking, subcontractors and marinas. im going to complete all that I can myself and subbing out what I cannot. im gonna need to learn to detail. im opening up a sole proprietorship and only me to do everything for a while. I have a 5000 budget to start
    your videos are very informative !!

    Great Video, I've been detailing mostly RVs for about 8 months and its been great. Your videos are really helpful as there aren't a ton of good videos on buffing out RVs. Would love to see something on RVs if you are still in that line. Also, how do you price your RV jobs, what's a good starting point for a novice like me? I'm currently getting about $6/ft for a wash and spray wax. I'm looking to get into more of the restorations and machine polishing.

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  Před 4 lety +2

      Rv’s are kinda trickery when it comes to restorations, the gel coat is very thin, so they fade very quickly.
      When I get an rv I’ll film it!
      Most of the Rv’s I do are nice motor coaches and all we do is detail and wax then. We charge around $15 a foot.

    So happy I found your page. Love to hear about different products and try them out. I have a company and the hardest part for me is pricing. I know my worth but it's never been easy for me to ask for money, sounds crazy but just me. Getting better though! I just got asked for a quote on a 112' Sanlorenzo yacht. 3 Decks, 25 ft beam, harnessed to reach the sides. I haven't had to price something that big yet (biggest is 65'). What would you suggest for pricing on that?

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  Před 4 lety +2

      Sorry bro! Just now seeing this!
      Honestly, I don’t have much experience with boats the big either we don’t really have any that lager in my area!
      I would say by the foot! And also by the ft per deck.
      You can also price it out by time or days, like if you wanna make $800 a day and you know you can do it in 5 days then charge $4000!
      Get creative! Ha sorry I don’t have a better system for you! When I don’t know how to price something I just figure how many days I can do it and I charge what I wanna make per day. It’s simple

      Ha! Well I was taking some EZ2CY isinglass panels off in 40 degree weather ... in the process one panel completely shattered and another panel fell off the boat and went for a swim.... never found it.
      To have them custom made for the boat was about $3,600.00!
      So after kinda freaking out, a called my insurance and told them what happened and they had a check in my mail box 4 days later!! I was crazy impressed! Ha
      So, lesson... don’t take isinglass off in cold weather! Honestly I try to avoid taking them off at all!

    hi Brother Drake,If you charge up to 75 /ft on a ets say a 25 ft center cnsl like the one in your wet sand vid(B Whaler what would you charge for a five step on RV's since they are about 10 feet high ,woulud that be even more because of the extra surface area of would then even out because u r also doing the inside of the boat as well ?Thank you
    Oh i just read ur comment below on RV being tricky cause of thinner gel ,would u not do a five step on RV?

    • @DrakesDetailing
      @DrakesDetailing  Před 4 lety

      A five step correction is totally fine. The gelcoat is way thinner on an RV. Just run your machine slower than you would on a boat. So if you were using a rotary run it at about 900 RPMs max. When it comes to RVs if you can get $20 a foot per step that’s pretty amazing! But it’s really hard charging expensive for RVs at least in my opinion.
