You don't have a bear problem the bears have a human problem. 🤣🤣🤣
Update: the bears haven't been back since I screwed some boards to the vent at the top. 🎉
Bears have great memories for food sources, so they will keep coming back for years just to check. I dealt with them in CT and the best thing I found was ammonia. Get a gallon and put it in a garden sprayer, then spray around the trash area. The scent is very strong and they don't like it. Worked like a charm.
I'll keep this in mind. There bears still haven't been back since I completed all of this! Problem solved.
I live half the year in Alaska, where we deal with Bear every day. Your always going to have bear trying to break in with the opening on top. They might not be able to get in, but the right hungry bear will shread that shed apart. I would recommend having some outward facing screws on your top opening bar. Bears are smart, so it only takes one time of them getting poked to know they need to leave it alone. Might also just want to seal in the top, and just add a roof vent. Other than that it looks pretty good.
Should’ve bought the bear boxes. Seriously. This was an exercise in negative economics bro. Keep up the passion man!✌️✌️✌️
That is my truck in the Security video at 16:56!!! Wow!! We were in the Cedar Hollow and didn’t even know they were there. 😮😮 We had a phenomenal time.
Hahaha bummer you didn't get to see the little guy! So glad you had a great time at the Cedar Hollow Nathan! You guys are welcome back any time. Cheers!
Bears! How cool! Just fyi, they do learn how to open doors and latches. I'm assuming you don't want to bother putting an actual lock on your gate latches, so, at the least I would suggest a heavy duty carabiner to keep the latch secured without the hassle of keys.
I just ordered some heavy duty carabiners cause of this suggestion! Great idea! I was trying to figure something out without keys for the latch, so great point!
@@devonloerop They can open car doors as good as you can. Warn your guests to always lock their doors.
Don't underestimate hungry bears. As they get older, they WILL figure out the latches. 😎
I'm ordered some caribeaner hooks to go through the latch. Hopefully they arrive before the little dudes level up, and figure out the latches
Up in Index, we had a Black Bear actually tear open our solid wood shed. The most important thing, I'm told, is the scent. I have since, completely sealed the shed and haven't had any more problems with Smokey. Nice build though. Those are gorgeous!
That's really helpful. I'll maybe have to think of something to seal out the joints!
For the long run, you should have bought the metal container!!! Too much upkeep on wood and will still allow the smell of garbage still wafts into the air! If the bears decide they want in, they will just rip the doors off!
06:31 cracked me up ~ SohCahToa & Pythagoras
lol so over that crap 😅
Bears rip apart cars sometimes. Surely you did some research? It's only a matter of time until they figure out that latch and/or rip it or the wood apart. Just depends how hungry they are. As summer comes one, they will get hungrier. You need to nip it in the bud now. They are already becoming habituated to it. They will never stop unless you stop it now. It may be too late already honestly.
They haven't been back for a few days now and it was an every day occurrence so I think I solved it. I just ordered a little hook lock so they don't figure out the latches. Pretty sure I broke the routine!
Just make sure your guest don’t leave any food in vehicles,
Good job.
That's a good point!
Love the guest book! Well done
Get the bear boxes and make the concrete wood sheds into an outdoor shower, recycling shed, firewood shed, guest supply shed, sauna or outdoor extra seating. So many possibilities
Definitely got my like and subscribe for that fake injury that made me cringe 🤣🤣👌🏽
Hahaha glad to have you as a part of the fam
You are so smart! Changing out the cans, excellent idea!
I'm so glad I remembered, I was already to get the roto-hammer and start drilling some rebar dowels to extend the slab!
Love your videos! Thanks for sharing 😁
Glad you enjoy them!
Metal bear boxes. Efficient and done.
I'll second the need for something like ammonia. I'd like to add that you'll need something to secure the doors as bears are pretty smart and will soon figure out how to unlatch the gates. National Parks use the steel cans with bear-proof openings for a reason, but then they also have significantly more people and bears :) I'll also echo the need to remind guests not leave food or other attractants in the car (toothpaste, lotions, deodorant) and not to leave the same outside after a meal.
well its a good thing you went with the 3 hinge in hindsight.
The Bear: I have an Airbnb problem at my property.
I love how handy you are. Great video 💞💞...
Thanks, I've learned a lot of construction skills over building these two homes.
Great channel! Keep smiling brotha 😄
Thanks so much! This whole "owning a home" thing is constant problem solving. It never seem to stop! :)
We live in the country and have a burn pail. we dont put garbage outside until garbage pickup, and burn what we can daily..
Definitely worth the journey!
Hahaha, my wallet and 20 hours I spent driving back and forth feel different
I like the music you put on when the bear was eating😂 😂😂
Hahah gotta fit the vibe 🙌🏻
@@devonloerop nothing wrong with a little ambience😂
I would have the metal bins inside the shed.
Dang you’re talented! I get you about the OCD mind. It’s really hard to let some things go. I was thinking a smaller bin and you were on the same track. What a beautiful place Devon.❤❤❤❤❤. God bless that little spider man boo bear I love him!
Beautiful country!
Babybear will grow up😮
Love the vids keep it up
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying them.
For those who can’t afford that bear trash can get ammonia from the cleaning isle and pour it in and or around your trash bin. They hate the smell like we do but it’s worse for them!
Women feel safe with bears though, there's no problem.
You could build metal drop box trash cans. It's the same design libraries use for their book drop box in most cities
I'm a welder/fabricator and can draw up some prints for you if you want as well! 👍
I wish I was handy, you are amazing for sure.
Haha just gotta start somewhere! You go this!
You did great
I love your videos and your determination and drive. They look fabulous! May I suggest a decorative metal radiator cover for the top to cover the open portion. Like this…M-D Aluminum Sheet, Union Jack, 56000, 36"L x 24"W x 1/5" Thick,
That's not a bad Idea I def thought about that but I don't want the bear to have something else to hang on so I'm going to frame it down with the cedar planks so he can't get his little paws in there to hang on the doors
The bears 🥰 this makes for a great Airbnb I would definitely book if I lived in your country.
Just found the channel because of the bears but need to binge watch more so subscribed.
Take care x
Welcome!! Glad to have you
Until Bear 399 shows up…. 🐻
I think it was worth it! It looks great too!
Thanks! I love how it looks too!!
Great looking storage. You should put a bolt or cotter pin through the latch lock hole.
I ordered some yesterday!
That was so cute.😇
Silly danger doggos.
Little pups!
Lil bears will find a way,U.P. bears just go through the wood.
I will be surprised if the bears don't figure out how to open that door. They can get into cars and houses
I think the ones you built looks alot better
That was so pradictable😅
Lol.nice job.
When they get big they will rip those doors off. Baby bears won’t stay babies.
Those doors are pretty beefy. Thankfully they haven't visited the last few days ever since they haven't been able to get in.
It’s scary when you faked your injury. I was expecting to see some blood when you were opening your hand. But it turned to be a “like” 😂 You’re not only creative with your houses but also your ways of marketing. Wish you will get more subscribes 👍🏼
I'll give you the like, but still waiting for the price breakdown video you said you were going to come out with!!
Hahaha I promise it's coming just waiting on one last piece! Don't worry, it's gonna be a really good video. Right now it's scheduled to drop June 8th at 6am
the bears have a human problem is mor like it, they were here first and they will be here last again
So cool 💪🏻
thanks!
You better warn Steve's parents!
😂 that’s crazy after all of that the bears just climbed up and the “real barrier” is 2x4’s
Good job though 🎉
Lol i know... i know....
It's their Bear Country
oh man theyre gonna rip that door right off
Metal bear boxes
Bearly an inconvenience.
1 point for creativity!
Or,,, how bout beautiful bear skinned rugs in the Bed & Breakfast's and
ton's of meat in the freezer?
BTW, they ain't Teddy Bears.
Put electric rugs down around your land they go runing back where they came from
The bears just going to crawl in from the top. Also they can open doors
Keep watching... haha 🤫
nicer than my apartment. curious how much the metal bear bins would have cost vs this, though.
Same 😅
$1500 per box, but they still require concrete to anchor on and don't hold as much garbage. Lose lose lose imo
The bears will still smell the garbage and still come by won't they?
They haven't been back in a few days!
Why does it feel like if it were allowed you'd adopt the bear?
I'd adopt him in an instant.
Do you have a way of contact as Im interested in network with respect to renovo create and building projects?
Info@thepacificbin.com shoot me an email
Till they figure out that latch .
I put a metal clip on it now! Still no bears! Two weeks later
You can now call it a bear b&b...
Tbis guy sounds like a over priced Starbucks drink
Really wooden door??? You have a Space to let Bears, raccoons etc in 😂😂😂😂 But Like Your Channel 🤙🍻
i know... i know... i made a mistake haha
Thats a garbage can problem not a bear problem.
Hey Devon , very good video . I can do better editing in your videos which can help you to get more engagement in your videos . Pls lmk what do you think ?
I'd be remiss if I didn't comment; bears should always be considered hostile.
I mean they definitely aren't pets that you can play around with but most of the guests haven't even seen the little guys cause they are so afraid of people and just take off at the slightest little noise.
Add description to your Airbnb " Man VS bear irl"
hahaha i'll put it in the "Activities" part of the guest "Bear Wrestling" 😂
7:51 deez nuts got em
Low key I was waiting for this comment from the second I posted this. You win sir 🥇
Assuming that every guest is not a recovering alcoholic.
Am i missing something?
I assume cause you’re giving them bottles of wine as a sorry for the trash Cogito is making a joke? 😂
I liked this video just because of the dumb attempt to get the like haha good job I never like videos
You have a bear problem?! You are in their home, so therefore they have a ‘You’ problem! Research is everything woods = wildlife! I am not sure that a wooden garbage inclosure will hold up to bears. I grew up at the base of Grouse mountain in North Vancouver, BC, Canada where the Bears roamed freely. We drove to friends down the street, never walked to school. We watched from our deck when Wildlife officers came to the neighbourhood to tranquillize and move the bears back up the mountain. Even in the late 60’s Parks knew to use heavy metal garbage bins secured with bolts to a cement pad. FYI: the latch closure is a great idea unfortunately it will take but a minute for a bear to open the latch or tear into the structure. The can open a sliding glass door or a cabin window.
Nope! It's their home. Get out and stop disturbing these animals.
