Great video Devon. You’re not OCD. You have an incredible pride of ownership, which is amazing. Wish more VRBO or AirBNB hosts had your level of attention to detail. Love the guestbook!
Thanks so much! Sometimes I feel crazy with all the little details but that's the stuff that makes the different. I'm working on a guest book for the pacific bin like the one at the cedar hollow. It's gonna be epic!
Devon you do a phenomenal job. Your hard work and attention to detail will keep your guests and all their friends coming back. Hope I can come stay one day since I’m in California. Your folks must be proud.❤❤❤❤Your host book is a brilliant idea! Beautifully done Devon.
Finally someone actually addresses hot tub maintenance! Thank you for sharing. Currently doing a new construction and will be adding a hot tub sauna, so any more experiential tips in videos would be awesome!
What an incredible work ethic. I wish every host had your passion for details and guest experience.
Lazy hosts = lazy results. I love hosting and making a special space for friends and families to make memories.
$400-500??? My cleaners dump and scrub my hot tub at my cabin every clean, it’s just a part of the $225 they get to clean a 3100 sq ft cabin. Your market has crazy high prices.
The book with QR codes is so cool! Nice attention to detail everywhere 👏
You are going to be successful!!! You have so much pride in making sure everything is perfect for your guests!!!
Love the attention to detail and those extra touches 👌🏻
This is such a helpful video! I'm hoping to create my own tiny house airbnb in a few years so it's incredibly useful to know what goes in to managing one on the day to day. Thanks so much for sharing this and being so transparent on your channel.
Man you have inspired me to move forward with my first property. it wasnt what i am looking for but you have shown that instead of running away from the problems. just be creative think outside the box and come up with something amazing. i love it. thank you. Hosting is my dream.
Good for you. Im burnt out from running 2 airbnbs myself, not worth the trouble anymore. 1031ed into leased properties, so much less stressful!
What was so bad about t?
Some of my most favorite content on YT! Love both of these projects so much! You are extraordinary - are you the real Superman??!! I’m stoked to see the next build!!!!
Haha thanks so much! Just trying to keep costs down and make it as special as possible for guests!
Devon, you are such an inspiration with our positive attitude and your great ideas! Love how much detail you put into that book! I am the same as well. And you are right, attention to little details is what makes you stand out! Well done!
The book turned out superior! Great idea!
I love the guestbook with QR codes. I'm definitely going to have to borrow that idea for my cabins!
Please, the Factor ad is wayyyyy too long. My god. Do they make you do certain length to pay/sponsor you? Keep it 10-15 seconds and no one would be annoyed.
Really appreciate this dedication to guest experience and detail!
The magic is in the details!
Wow, gorgeous places. The fact that you take all those extra steps makes you an incredible host. I would definitely rent from you. Great video!!
Amazing properties!
The guest book with QR codes to scan for instructions and local excursions is brilliant!
Thanks so much! Yeah, it makes it easier for me as a host as it's less messaging plus my videos can explain experiences and amenities better than I can through a text.
Your attention to detail is wonderful. I'm sure your guests notice, and it makes their stay more enjoyable. 😊
Perfect 5 star rating across all booking channels! I think they really enjoy all of the personal touches. Doesn't feel robotic like a hotel. I love hosting people!
Great job bro!
What a great host!! Kudos to you!!! I love the guest book with the amenities with QR codes so the guests can look up any info they need. Is that an Apple product? Did you lay that out yourself? Whatever, very attractive!!
Looks great, beautiful property
Barndominium is the dream!!!!! I am really freaking excited to see this build
ooo I am excited to see your barndominium!
Great job on that guest book! That is next level.
Thank you so much! Welcome to the community, I see you just subbed a week ago! See you in the next video!
Your rentals are so beautiful!
Absolutely brilliant Devon , hope one day will be able to visit it
Thanks 😊! Come on out, I'll make sure everything is perfect for you!
You do a great job showcasing the effort and love you have for hosting. What platform did you use creating that guestbook?
Still loving the videos, great stuff
So glad to hear! They are fun to make
Dam your good. Congratulations on your success.
That guest book is incredible. Beautiful and super functional.
Do you really do all that stuff on every checkin? That's a lot of work. And what if you want to go on vacation?
new to channel. Good overview of a turnover when self managing. Love the details! Hope all your guests can see how this is not just a 'buy and furnish a place and rake money in. Even knowing the garbage haul off has a cost, including your extra time, is an important detail.
Maybe wear gloves to handle the garbage or show you cleaning hands before driving or working with cold plunge water?
Thx for the video!
Nice work
I love the book! ❤
Great job
Hi Devon, really enjoy your videos and your journey. Any chance you can share when you will have the total cost breakdown video available for Cedar Hollow?
Thanks for the video, I can relate…curious to hear how you manage to keep bear or other critters out of your trash cans. They looked like normal rollout containers, not bear proof or resistant. Thanks!
I enjoyed your video. Amazing organic and original video. I hope you conitue to produce raw and unedited videos like these when you climb to higher heights. Love it.
I will always be authentic with my channel, never sell out, never take collabs that I don't full support and love their products. Integrity is one that is hard to regain after it's lost. So that's not going anywhere!
We used to do it often when on vacation but no more cleaning fees are absolutely insane…
Well, if you come stay at either of my homes I only charge $80 as my cleaning fee evening though I pay my cleaners almost double that. I hate price gouging guests. Genuinely love just getting to meet some of the guests and that they can experience something new and make memories with their friends and family. Don't get me wrong, I still have to make money to pay down my debt on the home but I'm defintenly not one of those money hungry hosts nickel and diming guests.
@@devonloerop no thanks
Man that looks like Whatcom County where I grew up.
Helicopter will pick you up at the property ?! Wow love it
It's really special!!
“It’s not poop!!!” 😂
Your diligence shows. Keep up the hard work Devon!
IT'S NOT POOP 💩
You're hosting is next level, love to see this stuff instead of people with the hole arbitrage etc. Gave me lots of inspiration to optimize my air bnb!
Thanks so much! Yet another example of quality > quantity.
Interesting video!
Yeah, I hope that sheds a little light on the day to day! Definitely not set it and forget it
What a cool idea for info about how to use devices etc.
title steep but so nice
Yeah! It cuts down on questions big time
I would love to see the floor plan. I’m thinking of building something similar.
Awesome job!!!
Cedar hollow or pacific bin? I currently have the pacific bins plans for sale on my site (BIN70) gets you 70% off the full set at checkout. But I'm currently in the process of getting the cedar hollow construction set drawing up and engineered and will be releasing them for a crazy discount on my cost breakdown video of the cedar hollow. They will all be at www.thepacificbin.com/plans
Looks like a beautiful place. What do you do for recycling?
Can you explain a little more about how you do the video sharing of the video that your cleaners do of the property? Does you have a data plan for that phone? And what is the platform you use for the video sharing? Thanks!
Awesome video and love the guest book! It’s an off topic question but what color is the cedar hollow painted?.
The cedar hollow and pacific bin are painted Tricorn Black with a flat finish from Sherwin Williams! I love the color
I have an Airbnb. We call the one last check after the cleaners are done the “Pube check”
Yup, I’m the official pube inspector.
Wow, so much work. Cool house. I think I'd rather spend my spare time sipping lemonade in my hammock than working on an Air BnB.
Thanks! It's even better when you're sipping lemonade at an airbnb you built. You should do it!
Building yourself a sustainable empire over there Devon. It will al pay off in the end!
That's the goal! Work hard now and hopefully enjoy the benefits of all that work later in life. Btw thanks for being a channel member, keep and eye out for my next video on Saturday, where I call you out. :)
Really like the guest book! Where did you get it from?
Great video man! Where did you get your guest book from?
Artifact uprising, I'm trying to get them to sponsor the channel so I can get yall a discount code. Stay tuned, might have a video soon.
do you charge extra cleaning fee for the hot tub dumping?
Have you considered building a bookshelf/storage space under the spiral staircase....it can be beautiful and useful with the added benefit of preventing people from banging their heads on one of the corners....(ask me how I know ;) ) Beautiful home, great design and well built!
I did but I thought it might clog up the flow of the space, plus the stair is such a feature in and of itself. I know what you mean with bumping a head on it but I tried to locate the couch so that the natural path is away from that corner.
Gotta love when you're looking at prices and they look decent and then you get to check out and it doubles with all the fees 😂
No excessive fees for my place. If you book at the direct link you'll save even more cutting out airbnb fees. The link is in my description.
If you use dawn powereash, it has alcohol in it. It might help with the hot tub cleaning. You can also make your own with 30-50% isopropyl and a bit of dawn and water.
I've heard to steer clear of dawn because it can turn into a bubble mess! I'll have to dig into it a bit more!
Would you please mind sharing the information about the company that helped you create the Airbnb guestbook? 🙏🏻
I'm curious what's the bio film removing solution that you use?
Link those dehumidifiers please!
Are you OCD when you live in other peoples airbnb? Im most afraid of OCD airbnb hosts living in my home they send me pictures of every mark they see on my wall😢
Airbnb is just terrible. Over the years, I have had 2 passable experiences and over a dozen either crazy or horrible experiences. Very few people understood what they were doing and had zero hospitality experience. Often people become frustrated with costs or lack of customer care to their property, and become outraged hostile towards guests. I cannot tell you how many passive aggressive notes with ridiculous requests, rules, or outright demands I have found upon arrival to Airbnb’s. One time I had an owner (who was next door which is already uncomfortable) came into the unit at roughly 10:30 pm, while we were in our pajamas, to passive aggressively pick up a glass on the coffee table and place it on a coaster, stating she would charge us for any damages. After leaving, we looked around the unit and found several cameras INSIDE the home. Needless to say, I have had some pretty crazy experiences. You seem to be a really good person to run an airbnb. Wish I had found a place or person like you during my tries with airbnb, but honestly, I will probably never use it again. Cheers and good luck 👍🏼
Don't let a few tough experiences ruin a really cool space. Typically I've found that reviews of people's homes tell the best story on what to expect (I have 100% 5 star reviews btw, for anyone looking to stay). That is a crazy story about the coasters and cameras Inside the home. I have one camera outside each of my homes and the only thing they can see is the parking area (specifically located them so private spaces actually stay private haha). If you come on out to the pacific bin or cedar hollow I'll show you what a real short term vacation rental home experience is supposed to be like.
I manage 90 luxury properties in Joshua Tree and I have to agree! You have to stand out and work harder to manage the properties with the increased competition. However, luxury properties still crush it. Great video Devon!
you call it OCD; some would call it attention to detail. Either way, you did a great job and if I ever make it to WA state; I would love to stay there. very impressed.
Thanks so much Carla!
I was told that the properties at seattle is not allowed for airbnb?
You change the hot tub water every week?
Note to self...ditch the hot tub.
How much does this unit rent out for a night?
So cool
Wow. Super impressive how you run your property for clients. The home book is a super nice touch.
The book is once of my favorite things about the home. Guests are loving it!
Will the three places on the property be far enough apart from each other for privacy (especially during winter when tree leaves fall)? Could you please show an ariel view of the property?
Yeah! There's a good couple hundred feet between each plants, and even with all leaves down in winter you can hardly see the peaks of each roof. I put a ton of thought into that as privacy is super important. For example the cedar hollow faces the west and pacific bin face east so that any sound created from guests projects out the corresponding direction. I stayed out at the cedar hollow for a month while I was finishing the house and I couldn't hear or see any of the pacific bin guests. The same thing is being considered for next place! 🎉
@@devonloerop Oh okay. Thanks for the quick reply and for the great videos! 😊
With a $500 charge, do that 10-12 times and you could buy another hot tub for that price, pretty insane.
Chlorine ball in the hot tub makes a huge difference. You should have it in all your tubs.
What cold plunge brand is that?
Redwood outdoors!! It's amazing
It would be great if you could do an aerial video of your property someday.
I'm working on making a video about "everything you need to consider when buying land" so I'll make sure to put a shot or two in there
That sounds awesome! Keep up the great work!
Not sure, but it looks scary how you are in the tub with an electrical pump. Be safe man, may be a bit dangerous...even fatal. Great to see the vid tho.
How many acres is your property?
Just under 4
that first place is sick how do I rent it
Come stay! Links in description of the video to book your stay. :)
Such a cool / fun video. Those guest books are really nice.
I'm really really impressed with the quality. I guess I shouldn't be that impressed with the price tag that came with it 😅
The last place I stayed at was expensive but beautiful. Unfortuantley, the hot tube was so nasty that is just ruined our stay. May never stay at an airbnb again :(
Oh no, that's not good. Well just know that if you ever stay at the Bin or Cedar Hollow I'll have a perfectly sparkling clean tub for you. Dont let it taint all airbnbs for you, a lot of the 5 star hosts take incredible care of their properties/hot tubs (like
Me) :)
What kind of sauna did you get?
@redwoodoutdoors barrel sauna! It's so epic!
Why keep a hot tub? Seems like too much maintenance and water usage.
Hot tubs where I live are a closed loop totally renewable water loop. Water comes straight from my well, into the tub, and then once the water is dirty I pump it into the ground, the ground filters it and it goes right back into my tub. Renewable resources at it's finest.
hey are those dots on your hot tub poop? think its poop
It's definitely poop
I got 30 seconds into it and then I turned it off just nothing there for me. Ego trying to get clicks trying to make money. The whole like subscribe reading reviews thing is ridiculous. My goal is to never ever have another username or password for any service again, no more.
just a little bit of urine 😅
Cant see how its worth having a hot tub at an airbnb property given the work you need to do to keep it clean.
It's one of the key amenities that guests desire. Most guests don't have hot tubs at their main residences, so being able to go to a cool location and enjoy a high end hot tub is a huge selling point!
@@devonloerop totally get it, just wonder if the amount of work is worth the return. thats no small effort to keep it clean.
@@sb-nyc It's a lot of upkeep but definitely worth the return if nobody rents your STR because of a lack of a hot tub.
I will first look for an str with a hot tub if they're available, especially in non-summer seasons. I think it's a huge selling point. And if he's saving $500+ a week in maintenance during a weekly check on the properties anyway + upping his rental frequency I'd say it's gotta be worth it. I'm pretty indifferent to a cold plunge though haha, I'm surprised that's a selling point. But maybe it's less upkeep
well MY OCD kept saying " i hope he fixes the corner of that mati hope he fixes the corner of that matt" but he didnt fix the corner of that matt #sadface 11:21
🤣Hahahahahahahahahhaahah this made me laugh hard. Before I left the house I turned the mat springs so that the corners that curled up were against the door so they aren't as noticeable.
Was your hot tub made in France?… because European
wonderful video...just one question....are you a little OCD....? lol
3:30
@@atnfn Sorry...just trying to poke a little gentle fun at the number of times you mentioned your OCD...
I think I might be OCD😅
So why are Running 2 Airbnb's in 2024 not easy anymore - the video didn't address its title
I guess I could have explained that a little bit better. But year ago you could just buy a cool place, but now, with so much competition you really have to go the extra mile to not only have a high margin business but to also make guests feel really special when they stay at your home. Hope that helps!
I mean, if you were a real nerd, then you would pause the vid and scan the discount QR code. Unless it was intentional, /cleverhat.
Play 4D chess over here 🤓
You are brave to run airbnb in 2024 because you are more likely to lose your home to squatters...with the government's blessing.
Location location location.
excellent!
Thanks!
