Honestly, Harper and Dusty were so wrong for having sex with Malakai. He was drunk, high and had literally *just* been through a horrible trauma. He said it himself; he wasn't thinking straight. He didn't need sex in that moment, he needed friends to just be there for him and not take advantage of his mental state...
As for Darren and Cash. Darren is so wrong. Cash said no, and instead of being told it's okay he gets yelled at and told there's something wrong with him. Whether someone is Asexual or just not ready for sex, they shouldn't be shamed for that. I get Darren is insecure and thinks they're being led on or whatever, but they could very easily take the time to hear Cash out, or just understand that not everyone wants the same thing they do.

I think we also have to account for the fact that they're all teenagers. We can judge a lot as adults.
I think the characters are all flawed in their own way and we're to struggle with picking sides. Yes! Exactly!! People are justifying what Harper did and its not okay!! Even if she was a victim in her own life, she definitely wasn’t in Malakais story. I think that the fact that they had sex with him screwed him even more emotionally
@@ValeriaRamirez-rc7vs Liks, I think she had good intentions, I’m not going to deny that. I really do think she was trying to help. But that’s just not what he needed in that moment. And it’s not an excuse either. It was t right, and it definitely messed with him even more.
As a fellow Aussie, it is SO REFRESHING to have a well written, well acted show that's full-on AUSTRALIAN. And so diverse!! I love this show so much and I love your reactions :D
I respect how this show doesn't hesitate from having characters it knows will be our faves proceed to be VERY problematic.
I haaaaaaaate how Darren handled that situation. I've always hated that sense of entitlement to dick some people have when they start dating someone else and they're like "okay, two dates, now it's time to fuck and if you don't put out then there's something wrong with you". Like, zero room for the other person to not wanna have sex at the same time as them. No empathy. It's all transactional

@@yasminemixon9340 they absolutely were. Bc apart from substances he had just been hate crimed and had an emotional breakdown. Only an ignorant white person would even consider to console a poc with sex after being hate crimed by the fucking cops. AND knowing he just fought with amerie too. He was much more vulnerable and mentally not there than the other two. All that aside, being drunk is not an excuse to touch someone else without sober consent or at the very least with someone in a more right state of mind even if they aren’t sober. Which Malakai clearly was not in.

Dusty and Harper took advantage of him but that’s not what he needed in that moment! He needed comfort and someone to be there for him, but they have sex with him instead!! That’s so fucked up and wrong!! They were right to call Harper out on it!!

I really think that what Harper and Dusty did to Malakai is borderline assault. If the roles were reversed and a boy initiated sex with a girl that had just been assaulted, and was drunk and high and extremely emotional - we'd be having a different conversation. He needed a friend, idk what Harper was thinking.

Up until this episode I was kinda on Harper's side still since we don't know what happened. But now it's just getting to be a problem like she has no control or completely unaware. Feels like she still cares about Amerie but seriously getting with both guys she liked is never cool.
Yea Malakai needed help and comfort that night but there are so many other ways to do it that don't involve sleeping with him!
The rules should be the same for men and women. I feel you but sometimes it's more about the person, or in this case, the character's response. Malakai feels weirdly about it but he doesn't feel like he was assaulted.
@@k1988smith I agree. Harper doesn't seem like she does anything to be purposely malicious. She didn't take advange of malakai because she knew she could. She did it because sex helped comfort her when it feels like no one is there for her. But im also conflicted because I don't want it to give out a bad message when it comes to a similar situation in real life. I feel like if that happened in real life. Excusing it just because someone went through something or its someones coping mechanism isn't really that viable.

I don't know if it is because I am messy and love the tea but I LOVED when Harper called out Dusty. It doesn't condone any of her actions but I lived for it.

but at the same time she shouldn't go fully public with that. It was hers Malakais and dusty's business. And i kinda feel where is Dustys statement coming from (theyre both equally responsible for what happened tho), when Harper was consulting Malakai in kinda idk romantic way, the way it looked unecessery and then smoked weed into his face and since the were both drunk he thought she liked Malakai or something and went with it. As i said the both egually wrong but i think Dusty didnt deserved that whole public speech.
I love how this show shows teenagers making mistakes and being jerks without it meaning they're bad people. They're young and still learning. You can be a good person and still fuck up and hurt people.
Dusty tried something new, and realised he wasn't comfortable with it and that's okay. He's unfairly treating Harper like she did something wrong, but he's a teenager, he still needs to learn how to manage this stuff in a more healthy and fair way.
As for Darren and Cash, being ace myself, their relationship hurdles are SO REAL, and I love getting to actually see it on screen. Darren completely misunderstands and is a bit of a jerk to Cash. It shows how acephobic general society is, and some of it is really just out of ignorance. Darren isn't a bad person, they just have some learning to do. The two of them have very different needs and boundaries, and it's going to take communication about their wants & needs, how to compromise, and different ways they can try things.
havent watched the video to the end yet, but for me its obvious that dusty is not confused beacuse of his sexuality. he wasnt comfortable with the 3some and that causes his reaction and attitude towords harper.
Hey Adam, I know that you don't react to cartoons, but I think you would like "The Owl House". It's the first Disney show that has a openly bisexual main character and it's about her adventures in a demon realm (on a side note, homophobia there doesn't exist). The thing is that since everything is so normalized etc, you just fall in love with the storie, romances, avventures etc. + there is good representation. The characters are really in three dimensions and being lgbt is just something about them, not their all personality. It's done so well

This episode was painful with Darren, cause generally I've liked him, I understand he needs like physical stuff to feel close and liked. But not everyone wants that, or is comfortable to go into sex that early in a relationship still. I don't think people really understand Darren's side of the 'fight.' Like, it's obvious that they were hurt, sad, and angry because it was not the first time that they felt that a guy used them. I really think that both sides of the discussion are valid. People seem to forget how difficult it is for a non-binary person too.
