Police brutality and racism towards our indigenous people is a huge problem which is not really discussed and it's so important that HBH has addressed it. Aboriginal People make up only around 3% of our population but make up about 30% of our prison population. They are given heavier and longer sentences then white people who commit similar crimes and are over 25% of the deaths that occur in police custody.

That last scene made me so angry and uncomfortable. The complete opposite of what Malakai needed at that moment. I still think he was taken advantage of because he was clearly drunk, high and emotionally and physically distressed. I will actually never forgive Dusty and Harper for it.
I hope they'll mention it next season too because the characters barely addressed it.
It was the wrong thing to do, but it was also Harpers trauma trying to comfort Malakais trauma. She didn’t do it maliciously. We’ve seen that she’s been using sex as a comfort for herself.
Both of them need counselling, and more appropriate ways to deal with things.
And yes, I hope they have a much bigger convo about it next season.
They were all drunk and high. It wasn't like a case of sober people preying on someone vulnerable. I think they were just trying to help but went about it horribly wrong.
@@Drummer4President I feel like they needed convo for alot of things honestly. I've seen people talk so much shit about harper thar I thought she was gonna be bad. But she really wasn't. She still cared about other people and didn't take her frustrations out on them. I mean ofc amirie but still. I also feel like Amirie needs to be addressed. Girl kept on switching between them based on who was less unlikeable during that moment.
I really hope that in the year since you've posted that that you have grown up and so has every single person who has upvoted you. No one was taken advantage of here. No one was in the wrong. There are no villains here. This is the grey that all of life lives in, black and white does not exist.
I loved how everyone jumped off there feet ready to fight for Malakai though, when the police man pushed him to the ground. Just everyone stepped in.
It really is a nice underrated moment ppl don’t talk about. Even spider was at it immediately. No one hesitated for a second, everyone rushed in. A nice community moment amongst the students, no matter how messy the relationships are, everyone knows priorities at the moment.
Yes! I noticed that too and it felt really nice to see them actually react and not just stand by.
It's really common for the cops to be aggressive against indigenous Australians, like malakai, thats probably why he was so scared and knew nothing was going to happen- it's most likely happened before
Young Men really should learn that they can be a victim of sexual assault too!! Just because something is less common doesn't mean you can say it "never happens". One group of young people but multiple speakers and it would really benefit from hearing from a victim who is willing to speak about what happened to them!!

mmmh i'm sooo against whatever that threesome situation was. Like, Malachi was drunk, extremely emotional and probably high (i don't remember) means he CAN NOT consent. I understand that Harper and Dusty wanted to be there for him, but having a threesome was not needed?? Malachi and Amerie are clearly a thing (doesn't matter if they're "official", it's the principle), Harper knows Amerie was already uncomfortable with Harper being with Dusty (which she eventually got over) and now she went after Malachi too?? This whole thing just pissed me off tbh.
I can forgive the part where Harper steals another guy Amerie likes because technically, Harper at that moment doesn't really see Amerie as her "bestfriend" anymore, but the part that Malakai is taken advantage in a vulnerable state is just disappointing.

Absolutely, as a bisexual person the threesome was squicky to me not sexy or okay at all, Malakai needed emotional support and physical treatment not whatever that was, if Harper wanted to help she would have taken him to a hospital to get checked out by a doctor not get him high and ride him out with her boyfriend. Definitely felt like she was still trying to get one on Amery because of her perceived failings as a friend. I hate that Malakai's first queer experience came from so much pain and being used like that.
Not only do I agree with you, but also I feel like the scene was sooo out of place, you know? I mean, it was a complete tonal shift for the show, they had been amazing at walking the line of being a light/heartwarming show that still talked responsibly about many topics (consent, autism, etc). So all I remember about this scene is being so confused and mad like "is this Elite now??"

Still not okay at all with the threesome scene, Malakai needed support and was WAY under the influence (not sober) and unable to consent properly. He was really taken advantage of in a very vulnerable state. He was literally just assaulted by a police officer!!!!

for me there is two problematic things non spoken repening in this Episodes, First the "threesome", they clearly take advantage of Malakai, and because his a Guy people let slide, If It was Harper or other girl in his place, no one would have any doubt that this sh*t was abuse, I know some of Us is adressing the subject but not many of us. And the second Topic is Sasha, the fandom let she get way with a lot of problematic things because she's a Queer girl (I'm also a Queer girl before people decide that i not in place to speak), First she cheat her ex girlfrien and get mad a Amber for puting that in the map and ruining her "friendship" whit the girl, instead of assuming the guilty on the cheating (Amber and Harper was wrong for exposing people like that, don't get me wrong, but she should assume her sh*t too), and second and more importante for me is the way she has been treating Quinnie since she descover she's on the spectrum, she treat Quinnie as if she wasn't a funcional human being capeble of making her on decisions, If Sasha was a Guy dating Quinnie tha would never been overlooked, and is realy Sad that when we finaly get some real representativite IS in a fucked UP way, because that normalize for the people geting this representation that IS ok being treat bad and is defenitly not, Quinnie is a awsome girl and deserve so much better than that.
On top of the way Sacha's been treating Quinnie, when she gets called out for it she goes into "but I care about you so much" instead of taking any responsibility, and that just comes across to me as gaslighting.
As an Autistic person Sasha really pisses me off. I'm really glad they don't get back together at the end of the season because Quinni deserves so much better

Hi Adam, big fan.😊 U asked if guys really talk like that amongst themselves. Yes, they sure do. I hope it's not all guys, but the ones I've been around do. I have had guys acting like I'm not there & betting which one was gonna get in my best friend's pants 1st.
