It's interesting that regardless of how free all the kids are sexually and how they use sex in different ways (as a commodity, as comfort, for establishing a bond, as a measure for selfworth) they don't know how to have the conversations about it to understand how they use it themselves as well as how other people use it. They don't need sex ed, they need communication ed or feelings ed!

11:01 The state where I live passed marriage equality in 2008. Since then, I've made an effort to stay away from assuming cishet as the default. It's quite easy to just ask, "Are you dating anyone?" or "Anyone special in your life right now?" etc. It took time because cishet is *so* ingrained in our society.
My country was the first one to legalise it. I was born after it was legalised in fact. And there are still people, even the ones younger than me, who still ask 'do you have a boyfriend?' to girls.
darren trying to force cash into having sex again and again even though cash said no and then saying "there is something wrong with you" was not okay.
i hate that both harper and amerie weren't willing to give their partners dusty and malakai time to process. when dusty says he needs time harper just gets petty. also harper's speech was not okay. everyone cheering her on and making her look cool for that speech was not okay.
I have to admit, this episode completly put me off from liking Darren and Cash as a couple. I understand how cool it is to show a couple with two people at such a different stage (even though I think it's something that isnt that uncommon in rep on tv shows) but the constant pressuring of Cash from Darren about sex is really uncomfortable to see especially when after Cash clearly showed he wasnt comfortable with sex, Darren still tried to jerk him off while he was half awake. And then screamed at him. Yeah nah. I understand Darren has a little complicated relationship with sex but that crossed a line for me 😬
I felt so uncomfortable by Darren's actions.

This episode literally solidified my hatred for harper. Even after finishing the show and knowing what happens, I just cannot support her at all. Especially when i agree with spider of all people later on in the the show seems to try to launch Amerie and Harper into "girl boss" mode. Like Harper was 100% wrong during that gym scene, but the show portrays it as a "you go girl" moment.
She came after him immidiately after he let her see vulnerability. They had a threesome, he said it didnt make him feel good and he didnt like it, but then she dragged him across the floor for having entiring legitimate fellings.
Her and Amerie are the worst. I watched this show 100% for Cash and Darren. A little bit of Quinnie. I absolutely loved darren and cash though and really look forward to seeing you guys react to their progress. Its a great little arc
If you would have told me after watching the first episode that Cash would be my favorite character in this show I wouldn’t have believed it but here we are. This episode really put me off to Darren by how insensitive and mean they were with Cash. I also feel like Amerie so self obsessed and lacks empathy for other people. Multiple times Malakai clearly is not okay and she basically just walks away and doesn’t try to comfort him at all or does the bare minimum and gives up the minute she feels the slightest resistance.
in this ep darren seems a bit like theyve forgotten that "free to do whatever you like" also means being able to not do the things you dont like

Harper targets Dusty because he lost his feelings for Harper after watching her in the threesome. I don’t think she should have said over the microphone in front of everyone but I totally got where she was coming from.
idk like this is completely sexually violating she was a crappy person for that. same thing if a guy spoke about some girl's vagina and her having sex with him in front of many people without her consent. absolutely disgusting behavior.

It's been a while since I watched this season, but I think they at least *hint* that he's ace. I can't remember if Cash figures it out during this season or not.
Yes he is! It's not super explicitly said but it's handled I think in the 7th episode if I remember correctly? This was one of the hardest representations for me to see, as an ace person myself, with how much Darren keeps implying Cash is broken.

Ugh, by this time I'd already disliked Harper immensely, but this episode turned me off from her even more. And I also added Darren to the list bc of how they treated Cash.
A GREAT Australian comedy with a lot of "gay shit" is Please Like Me. Also addresses mental illness quite a bit. It's brilliantly done.
It starts with the main character, Josh being told by his girlfriend that he's probably gay, then dumped because of it. Enter 'Gay shit'. I think it's on Prime in the UK
