- Wow. What can I say?
This marathon is something special, and one I will remember forever.
Just one goal for me, beat my previous marathon PB in Brighton of 4:22.
Will I hit the hall as hard as I did in Brighton?

What a race! You were so full of energy even up to the end with shouting! You should be so proud of yourself, I am! 20 minutes of your PB is such an amazing result 👏
Thanks so much Ivan, I'm so pleased with the result ❤️
Fantastic! Brilliant time, well done.
I'm super proud of the way it went, I'd worked hard for a good result and so pleased I managed it!

Well done Cynthia! You did amazingly well and lovely to meet you too ❤️
Big well done, you nearly ran an even split race, strong running! Loving the techno music getting you going haha!
Nice one Ric. I'm as surprised as everyone else is... That euro beat is something else!❤️
Wow Andy! You are a beast my friend! Awesome time & a 20 minute PB !!!! Incredible mate! Great video too as always.
Thanks Joe. Still in shock and disbelief myself... Thanks mate!❤️
Well done Andy on your Amazing time, your channel is so down to earth and honest and a great watch.👍
Cheers Gary. This is the comment of the day. That's all I ever want it to be. ❤️
Congrats on your PB! Great video, really inspiring to run a marathon myself.
Thanks Casper, marathons are a tough beast, but if you apply yourself, you'll end up surprising yourself of what you're capable of.❤️
Congratulations 🎉 What a great race fantastic PB x A great end to your European tour .. time for Heineken and a rest . Massive congratulations x
Nice one Claire! Lots of chilling time has followed!
well done Andy, super run, sub 4 must be on the cards now for next year love watching your vlogs.
Thanks Graham! It's given me confidence to see what else I can do ❤️
Well done Andy!!! Beautiful PB!!!!
Thank you! One of my favourite ever running days ❤️
Great work Andy! A really good training block. I was a bit worried your Metz effort was going to come back to bite late on, but as usual you absolutely smashed it.
Really glad you took us along on the journey, looking forward to finding out what the next challenge is!
Cheers Peter! I felt great after metz, and only decided to race it as I felt good going into it. I just go with the flow, and it's worked a treat this block vs last time when I had a structured plan.
No idea what's coming next, I'll have a rest first and then make some plans soon!
You got so much energy left after finishing your 42km run. That, in itself, is amazing! I share your happiness and excitement too!
Congratulation on achieving your new PB!Cheers!
Thanks Ben! I'm over the moon with how it went, and It's made me confident I'm capable of more marathons. Let's see!
PB on toast! Nice one, Andy 😎
Cheers Kim! Great feeling ❤️
Congratulations on your PB! 4:02:18 ….. fantastic! This was so much fun to watch! Congratulations 🏅 🏃♂️
Thanks RW, it was so much fun, and running with a smile makes everything feel so much easier ❤️
That was an amazing effort, to knock that much time off a PB is phenomenal. Inspiring to watch!! Well done mate
Cheers Rich, feeling very content. Nice one 👊🏻
Congratulations 🎊
grate effort and an amazing PB 👏
weldone pal.
Cheers Adam ❤️
Unbelievable effort Andy. Well done 👏🏻 Love all your content. You should have 100k subscribers let alone 1000. Thanks for sharing your journey
Haha thanks Kevin - very humbled! Cheers for the support mate and hopefully people seeing me progress will remind them that anything is possible.❤️
Absolutely brilliant well done mate. I will definitely do this one very soon 🏅
Cheers Tim! It was a brilliant one 👏🏻
Fantastic achievement Andy. 20 mins off your time, WoW. I even noticed you were up with the 3.40 pacer at one point.
You were looking good with the "Waitrose" loop to go, and at that point, I thought you would just eek under 4 as the pacing strategy looked great, maybe spend less energy on whooping up the crowds and that may be the bit that takes you under 4 😛
Still great to see you enjoyed it and the crowds looked amazing and so supportive.
Not surprised you felt a little iffy after, it is, after all, one of the hardest things you can put your body through, which is why only 0.01 percent of people on the planet have done this, and now you have done it twice.
Time to relax for a couple of weeks, you have earned it, but then think about the next one and come back Bigger, faster, stronger and a sub 4 should be easily abtainable .
Myself, I've got about 8 weeks before I start training for Brighton Marathon (this will be only my second marathon) and fingers crossed, a London place a few weeks after that. Failing bagging a London place, I may go for Manchester, mid April. However, that would be 2 marathons in Two weeks, that just seems a crazy thing to do 😛
I am doing a short 8 week block up to that to try and improve on a 22 min 5k time, mainly to ward off the "post Marathon Blues"
Keep up the great videos, I enjoy them immensely 👍
That's amazing news about Brighton, I really enjoyed it when I did it. Yes I'm going to enjoy a bit of time off - maybe the odd super easy parkrun. Thanks for the support mate, it's hugely appreciated 👍🏻
Well.done mate .great timelooking at amsterdam next year
Definitely consider it! It was a brilliant race ❤️
Well done Andy. Great running. I totally recommend Sevilla marathon if you want another runcation. You would love it.
Congratulations
Cheers Kathy! I've heard good things about sevilla and always wanted to go to Andalucia. Maybe one day!
Another great race video, well done on your PB. You can definitely target sub 4 now on your next marathon training block whenever that will be.
Cheers Dave, yes I think that will be a hittable target for 2023!
Cracking effort mate
Nice one Steve! Just need to find a couple of seconds p/k and hopefully I'll nail it one day.👊🏻
You’re a machine Andy! You showed Amsterdam who is boss! Hold your head up high, a marathon itself is an achievement, let alone a 20 minute PB, kudos to you sir! Brighton, Amsterdam, where to next?!
Cheers Matty. Unbelievably proud! I'm not too sure what's coming next, I'll have a good think and see what's going to suit me best. In the meantime I'll just enjoy the calmness of no training block!
Congrats Andy a magnificent run huge kudos 👏, do Dublin, just a wonderful atmosphere and just back from Chicago super also, but Dublin is something else. Congrats again
Fair play Anthony - Dublin is definitely on my radar, I'll make the call next summer and see how my work schedule is looking!
Well done on your new PB Andy👍.
The next one will be sub 4 hours🙂 Seeing the Olympic stadium brought back memories of when I did it with my mate in 2019. I noticed that guy with the water jet contraption is still on the river, along with the guy singing on the boat😁.
Sounds like your metro journey on the way back was as bad as me and my mates back in 2019! It was so packed🙂.
Well done again.....ready for the next one🏃
Nice one Neil! It's special running into that finish isn't it! The metro was tough, so glad common sense prevailed and bailed and went back for a tactical lie down!
Fantastic run Andy you should be very proud. Definitely sub 4 for the next one 💪💪💪
Thanks Douglas, that run has certainly given me confidence to go on and try and achieve more ❤️
I’ve been anticipating this one. Fantastic stuff, Andy! - Mack
Cheers Mack, I had an absolute blast ❤️
I run somewhere nearly You :) 3:59 (private time) not sure what at finish line because we got there a nice queue on start and delay :) . Congratulation for You mate... That run gets a great vibe.. was my first marathon where I not stop even for second and I allready run couple. So it means for me the track and all community was brilliant and make it interesting from first to last "km". I see You hava a nice channel with UK runs so I will be Your new subscriber hehe :) Have a great runs in 2023
Hey Tommy, cheers mate 👍🏻 Well done on Amsterdam, sub 4 hours is very impressive. I absolutely loved the experience!
Very well done Andy! Party time 🥳🥳🥳
YAAAAASSS!!!! Love that PB feeling 💪🏻
@@itsonandy indeedy!
Magic Andy well done. Sub 4 has to be the target next time.
100%. I'm sure it will happen, it very nearly happened on Sunday. All in good time ❤️
Absolutely amazing buddy 👏👏 what a great PB that is 😁 The race looked awesome from start to finish 👍 I can see there being any regrets with that one, I think you probably paced it perfectly 🏃🏅
Thanks mate, it went really well and thought I'd paced a perfect 4 hour marathon but my watch recorded it too long... Never trust the watch completely!
@@itsonandy bloody watches 😁 next time 👍
That s amazing place you had so much fun thats great I really looking for ward to the next 7 months to then good luck with manchester
It'll soon be here, all the best training for Amsterdam Lorraine ❤️
Well done Andy 👏
It didn’t even look like you broke a sweat
I can tell you that I did...🤣 It was very hard graft! Cheers mate 👍🏻
I was there!! Nice weather and start/finish point
It was a great day wasn't it! Brilliant grandstand finish too 👏🏻
Great job, great video...😊
Thanks! Amsterdam has my heart ❤️
Many congratulations on a great run! Brought back some happy memories for me. Maybe a Spanish marathon next??
Thanks Rick, I'm not too sure yet as it's a big commitment to juggle with work/life etc. But potentially yes!!! Who knows what I'll be up to this year?!
Congrats on the race Andy & for smashing your pb.
Intrigued to know what the next big race will be
Me too Ben, as yet I don't have a clue!❤️
@@itsonandy thought, why not ask viewers if you do a Amsterdam review what your next challenge could be. I’m sure you’ll get a varied selection of answers for you to think over a pint or two 🍻
Good idea... however I'm a little worried what I might end up doing 🤣
Nicely done Andy ..and I recon you got the speeding ticket at the 40K liquid stop in the park there I was following trackung you all the race in the App ! I noticed you had a stop there atc40K and suppose the police handed you the ticket 😅
Yes it must have been as I was so fast 🤣 Thanks for tracking me ❤️
Well done 👏👏💪
Thank you so much ❤️
Awesome run mate! Congrats on the PB baby! Looked like you had a blast in that race. Another one added to my list. It was enjoyable to see you both have a great time on the whole European leg too. Don't start second guessing what you're time might have been without the beer and food during your taper though 😉
Thanks Loz, I reckon I could have done it at least an hour faster...
@@itsonandy Oh for sure!! 😃 Parkrun on Saturday is it or still recovering? Either from the marathon or European waffles?
Cracking work mate, sub 4 is not too far away I'm sure.
Thank you! Depends how I apply myself from here, but yes I think that may be one of the next sub targets to hit 👊🏻
Well done Andy, cracking time. Truely inspriational vlog. What is also really impressive is your nice even splits. I assume you'll have a week or two to recover, but what's next in the calendar?
I ran Bath Half on Sunday with a 42s PB. I will do a few local runs, but my next big race is Reading Half next spring.
Congratulations on the PB! I've heard Bath Half is a great race. Well done. No idea what's next really, no big plans for 2023 yet. When is reading?
Reading is 2nd April. Not flat, but well supported through the town centre and a stadium finish.
The XXX crosses refer to the three dangers Amsterdam faced in the middle ages: fire, floods and the famine/black death. Basically saying if they can overcome that then they can overcome anything
A great metaphor for the marathon. Thank you 👊🏻
That's a savage run Andy and well deserved👏👏💪💪 read in one of the comments on your last video that you don't know what to do next🤔 have a look at Copenhagen next May👍
I will definitely consider it! I'll price it up and see if it can work, I saw Ben is running did it this year. Very interested in an Irish race one day though ❤️
Loads of marathons over here Andy next year. Dublin, Limerick, Cork, Galway are just a few and if you want some scenic ones you got Dingle, Clonakillty, Killarney(pb territory for you😂) and loads more. You need info on any just let me know. Whatever you decide all the best with it 🤞🤞
Dublin is the one mate, I think that's the one I've got my eye on. Looks like it's next week - is it always late on in Octobr or moved because of pandemic? Definitely considering it!
Always on the bank holiday Sunday in October Andy. It's not cheap because they put the price up to €120 which personally I think is too much. Having said that I promise you that it won't be beaten for atmosphere. Take the atmosphere in Amsterdam and treble it. Not the easiest course and a few nice hills in it but the buzz is amazing. Was suppose to run it this year but life got in the way so I'm going as a spectator to cheers some of my running buddies on and I can't wait. If your planning on staying in a hotel book early otherwise you'll find it hard to get somewhere because of the bank holiday weekend. Stay safe and I'm looking forward to seeing your next few videos and your next goal. Just a quick one..... If you are planning on Copenhagen a 20 week plan starts on Christmas Day😁😁
you did so awesome andrew!!! WHOOOO!!
ps. thats me giving you your well deserved medal hahaah 🤩
Thanks Demi! You're now famous 🤣 You were awesome at the finish line and I loved receiving my medal from you!❤️
@@itsonandy whoohoooo
Well done.
Thank you! 😊
You did realey well I love watching the video I looking for ward to amserdan marathon in 5 weeks to go
Good luck in Amsterdam ❤️
Well done mate. Massive PB!!! Managed to catch you by the Rjiksmuseum, can just about hear my shouts of Andy!!
Had a great Half myself, 6 minute PB. You're absolutely right, great city and crowd. After 4 Half's this year, planning my first full. Hopefully London, if not Brighton 👍
Nice one Brian! So sorry if I blanked you - it was really tough to hear anything as that was a really noisy section! So glad to hear it went well for you mate, maybe see you on a 2023 start line 😀 💪🏻
@@itsonandy No worries at all, it was noisy, especially with that lion and the megaphone 😁 Yes definitely, going to break my Marathon cherry next year. Any plans you recommend?
I've only done this one and Brighton, so I'm not the best person to ask. There's Manchester, Edinburgh and Brighton which all sound like good challenges in their own right, and there's some good international ones like Valencia. I'm not sure what I'll do in 2023, but I think I'll do at least one if mot more!
Just re-read your comment 🤦🏻♂️
Plans not races...
Have a look at Ben Parkes, best £6 I ever spent when I was training for Brighton!
@@itsonandy Brilliant. Thanks. I'm sure he knows what he is talking about 😜
Well done! Just rewatchin this whilst waitin for you to do manchester next week! Quick question, fuel, what do you use and how do you carry it? Thanks
Thanks Lara! Mega excited now. For Amsterdam I made a schoolboy error and carried them in my pocket and I lost one 🤦🏻♂️ I'm wearing cycling shorts with 2 pockets this year so will carry 4/5 gels with me and maybe even a floppy water bottle. 😎
Well done! Just watching this thinking how do you have any energy left to shout/sprint/speak in that last 10k? 🙈 I commented a few months ago saying we had the exact same half time and I was half aiming for sub 4 at London. I got 4.03! That last 10k is just something else, the miles go by in slow motion.. you made it look easy!
That sounds like we're training twins, let's PB together! The last 10k was so tough. But I think the crowds helped hugely. All the best and thanks for the support ❤️
Beauty 👍💪
Cheers OG, proud of how it went!
I hope to get in Amersham marathon 23 with my friend
Good stuff Lorraine good luck 👍🏻
Fun fact: those crosses on the Amsterdam coat of arms refer to Saint Andrew 🙂
It was meant to be!❤️
Andy I’m running this in October and like me you’ve just completed Manchester. How would you compare the two mate. Manchester was sold as flat till I met Altrincham 😂 this is also meant to be flat.
You'll be glad to know it's a lot flatter than Manchester, barely any elevation at all. One or two canal bridges and underpasses, but part from that, flat as a pancake. 👊🏻
@@itsonandy Result!! Look forward to your next big race mate 👍
Great vlog! I was meant to run this event but changed to the Yorkshire Marathon instead which happened to be on the same day. I could feel the buzz through your experience it looked awesome! Subscribed. I'm a vlogger too if you fancy having a gander of my channel too.
Hey Will! Cheers mate. I saw that you were ill for the Yorkshire marathon, that final bt looked like a real slog for you. Amsterdam was honestly amazing. I've never done a big abroad international marathon and it was awesome. I think your channel is great and I'm a big fan - rooting for you to get that sub 3 soon!
This yaer sub 4!?
That marathon time beginning with a 3 instead of a 4 makes the hard work so worthwhile!
