Can you open the sunroof on the GTI with the bars and wind deflector?
I need this in my 22 GTI and want to make sure I can open the sunroof still

Hi Jack, the sunroof can not be opened on MK8 GTI's with these crossbars/accessories.

Are you still able to install snowboard holder racks with the fairing installed ?

In most cases a snowboard carrier will work just fine with a fairing such as the AirScreen XT. You just want to be conscious that you may have to shift the carrier closer to the edge or further in to line up the mounting clamps with open space on the crossbar.

Hello, thanks for watching! The Thule AirScreen XT will fit to most factory and aftermarket crossbars. There are different sizes available for these wind fairings, so it's important to get the correct width to ensure the fairing is effective as possible. Hope this helps!

Yes it can! You'll just need to place the mounts for your ski rack on sections of the crossbar not being used to fasten the fairing.

Is there a decline in mpg?

Hard to say. We would generally figure loosing 1-2 mpg when fitting any roof rack to any vehicle. If any product was going to help with improving fuel economy marginally on a car already fitted with a roof rack, this would likely be it. However, fuel economy is not tested metric on rack components due to how many other variables are at play.
