    We sang this beautiful hymn, Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah at church on Sunday, and I thought it would be really cool to multitrack it, so here it is for four horns, two violins, and two violas. I hope you enjoy!

    Omg i must learn more about you. How did you organize yourself to master 2 instruments? Are you learning anymore? Also, did you go to college majoring in both? I'm a fan of playing sveral instruments. I swear i just like all of them. I'm a musoc majot in college currently. But they don't let me play 2 instruments.

      That's awesome you also enjoy playing several instruments! It's a long story for me, but I have found that I'm so much happier and more motivated to practice when I have multiple instruments to choose from. My first instrument was violin, I started playing when I was 5, I started viola at age 10, and horn I started when I was 14. I got a bachelors degree in horn, and am hoping to pursue a masters in both violin and viola. I know it can be really difficult to be a multi-instrumentalist because music performance programs are often so geared towards specializing in only one thing. But even if you cannot major in 2 instruments, have you asked if you can at least have lessons on your other instrument, even if not majoring in it? That is something I have successfully done at school so far. Just a thought.
      I wish you all the best in your musical pursuits! Also if you need any help or guidance let me know :)

      @@andrewstump6138 Thanks I agree. The 4 yr school I went to was so kind to let me play around with the low string instruments (cello and bass) my main instrument is violin, which is what I play more advanced. But I can play flute cello piano and double bass at an intermediate level. And yes I did take private lessons in the 4 year school I attended they were so nice. But where I am attending currently, they don't allow me to. What did you decide to do after you graduated with a music degree?

      Wow that's great! So sorry to hear you aren't getting the same great experience at your current school; I hope you can still find yourself some involvement on your other instruments to keep them up!
      I have not decided what to do yet--I graduated from Curtis with a Bachelor degree in horn, and I stayed in Philly to do a Master's in violin last year, but withdrew because the program there has such a low standard of excellence and I wasn't feeling challenged enough. Now I'm preparing auditions for other better graduate programs for violin and viola. I have no idea what I will end up doing, but I hope to be equally involved on all instruments and play lots of chamber music. We'll see.
      What do you hope to do after graduating?

      @@andrewstump6138 It sucks to hear that you weren't receiving what you hoped from the program you were in. I wanted to see if I go to a 4 year school with a music program that allows me to participate in a professional symphony orchestra to get a better feeling of it. I want to become a member of a symphony as I enjoy playing in groups with a large amount of instruments. I do recognize that knowing how to play several instruments can increase my chances of being accepted in to as I could audition for several positions, but can't find a school that will help me keep up with that.

      Gotcha, that sounds like an awesome career path, very similar to what I want to do as well, although I consider myself more chamber music oriented. I am currently auditioning for graduate programs, and I will say from my personal exploration, I've found that Indiana University will allow people to multi-major on different instruments. That is my top choice partially for that reason. I believe there are others that will allow it as well, you just have to keep asking and exploring

    Hi Andrew, is your main instrument horn or violin these days? Which do you want to pursue professionally?

    • @andrewstump6138
      @andrewstump6138  Před rokem

      The plan is both equally and viola as well; I'm playing a bit more violin these days, but I think my level of playing is about the same on both violin and horn, while I think I'm maybe 5% less comfortable on viola than violin. I find the most joy in the variety of playing all three instruments.

      @@somebody9033 yes probably, although I'm not necessarily wanting to play in an orchestra full time because I'm afraid that might limit me too much into just one instrument and one type of playing. But I'll still audition since a performance job is still a performance job
