    My question is, how come I don't see the strobes engaging when you took the 2 pics at 11:46 and 51? Is it due to the video frame rate of 30 or 24 fps?
    Just curious if you knew.

    • @MattHernandez
      @MattHernandez  Před rokem

      I hadn’t noticed but I assume that’s it. Because of the fast flash duration and frame rate it was captured. That’s got to be it because the strobes didn’t misfire during that shoot at all

    Hi Matt, would it make any difference if you shot at 1/100 instead of 1/400? Since flash freezes motion it shouldn't really affect the subject.

    • @MattHernandez
      @MattHernandez  Před 7 měsíci

      Yeah, it will depending on how fast it’s moving. It just depends…400 is enough to freeze some things but not others.

    HSS is not great for freezing action but needs must in bright conditions. Reason is the flash has to pulse. Also HSS will cause a colour shift and you lose a ton of flash power.

    • @MattHernandez
      @MattHernandez  Před 4 měsíci

    nice video, but too much talking before finally a shot is taken, feels like a podcast. why not and show e.g. some mistake-pictures, like how does it look at 1/250 instead of 1/1600 in-between the talk or so?

    it's great that you explain it but man let your models go do something else while you yak for 20 minutes at a time then let them come into the scene when you're ready to shoot them
    Plus when you have your strobes at full power outside your drastically slowing the duration down and don't you have to worry about ghosting even if you do you have a fast shutter speed?

    • @MattHernandez
      @MattHernandez  Před 9 měsíci +1

      I do like make sure I explain things thoroughly! Great idea I’ll take that into consideration next time, thank you 🤣!
      No you sure don’t. Not if your shutter speed is fast enough to freeze the action you’re shooting.

    • @kenaterphotography4624
      @kenaterphotography4624 Před 9 měsíci

      @@MattHernandez ah ok thanks.. but that brought up another question because when I was doing a runner one time I had lots of ghosting/blurry shots even though I was shooting it well over 1000th of a second shutter I was in high speed sync and I had it set to full power so I was thinking maybe since high speed sync does a bunch of rapid flashes maybe that's how I was getting them because I couldn't figure it out
      so it full power is the flash duration still like 1/250 of a second does it take that long to do all those little burst flashes? it completely makes sense that if I had it set to a quarter power that the flash duration would be much faster like as fast as the shutter speed and it would freeze with no ghosting but I know that day I couldn't figure out why I was get it after about 10 shots I just told him we do shots without flash then I would just brighten them and post production so that's what I did
      maybe I'll do experimenting over the next couple weeks and try to figure it out
      But thanks again

    • @MattHernandez
      @MattHernandez  Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@kenaterphotography4624 my best advice is to keep experimenting. I’ve never had that problem if my model is exposed correctly. If you’re outside you’ll need a lot of power to underexpose the scene, which would also mean using HSS.
