Any song that can weave a Cherry Cola into its lyrics is bound to be good. Savage Garden was very underrated and their music has stood the rest of time.
way back in the 60s the Kinks had a hit with Lola - originally the lyrics referenced Coca Cola but the BBc would not play it due to advertising restrictions so the Kinks had to re-record it substituting Cherry cola to get around the restriction!!
I was going to the exact same thing, but you beat me to it!
It WAS "Coca Cola" but he had to change the lyric to avoid a lawsuit
They were okay
I think you mean the test* of time lol.
“To the Moon and Back” is my absolute favorite by Savage Garden!! 😉❤
Agreed
Same for me!
Def
Must agree 💯
Completely agree! I still put it on repeat all the time! 😎👍
There was NOTHING that sounded like this on the radio when it came out.....great song! And it sounds NOTHING like their other music!
When this song came on the radio a few years ago, I was taken completely by surprise when my mom began singing it! I never knew this song was her cup of tea until she was jamming along to the tune! Then I discovered that she had the Savage Garden album that has this song on it! SURPRISINGLY AWESOME!
Cute!
Easy to fall in love with their music.
Hayden....a few years ago? It's more than a few years ago!!
@@michaelasay8587 obviously, it was the mother’s radio station you know those terrible oldies but goodies station
@@michaelasay8587 we were listening to a classic rock radio station. i didn't mean when it debuted.... read the comment entirely, bro...
Great Australian band. This debut album exploded. 10 of the 12 songs made the top 40 in Australia. Mid 90's. They had been writing songs for years, formed and spent months refining the best ones for the album.
Yes please - To the Moon and Back is AMAZING. You'll both LOVE it! One of my favourites!
"Affirmation" is one of theirs I think is worth a listen. The lyrics are superbly written and the uptempo rhythm drags you right in.
Was gonna suggest this. It's my favorite out of all their songs.
Can they just do the whole album please and thank you 😅
🥰🥰🥰 "To The Moon And Back", "Break Me, Shake Me", "The Animal Song" and "Crash & Burn" are great too.
'Crash & Burn' for sure!! Another song for emotional people having problems...
Break me shake me kind of sounds like Michael Jackson’ish
YES!! Yes, yes!! I hope that they will react to each of those songs.
Jay & Amber, you'll love their "To the Moon and Back" and "I Knew I Loved You"!!
edit- Forrest - “I just felt like running” lol
Also Forrest....me and Jenny were like peas and carrots 😁
Oh my gosh I LOVE "To the Moon and Back"!!! Thank you for mentioning it!!!
It Was my favorite song from them and next was the one they watched today!
I forgot about "I Knew I Loved You". That was a wonderful song.
@@back2black717 you're welcome!!
25 years later and I still know every word. Savage Garden was huge in the late 90s and for a great reason! "I Knew I Loved You" was the biggest hit from their second album, but "Crash and Burn" will always be my favorite song by them!
I never get sick of Crash and Burn!
I remember this one from my childhood and I always called it the cherry Cola song 🍒😁
Yes! 😂 Always called the cherry cola song.
This is my favorite Savage Garden song.
Finally!! When this song came out, it was the one that got me listening to the radio again. My sister and oldest daughter told me I had to hear it and I was instantly hooked! Darren Hayes, the ;lead singer, was previously an English teacher. Jay, you might also like "Break Me, Shake Me".
“To the Moon and Back” is my favorite of theirs. You should check out LIFEHOUSE “Hanging by a Moment” Third Eye Blind “How’s It Gonna Be” or Edwain McCain “I’ll Be”
To The Moon and Back is so damn good.
EDWIN McCAIN - I'LL BE❣️❣️❣️ I think they'd really enjoy it! I ❤️ IT!!! 👍😃❣️😃👍
YES!!!!! I LOVE SAVAGE GARDEN!!!!!!
P.S. but heartfelt, rest in peace David Crosby.
Savage Garden is in my all time top 5! Other great songs include: Crash and Burn, To The Moon and Back, I Knew I Loved You, Hold Me, Break Me Shake Me...
The animal song is awesome as well
“To the moon & back”, “the animal song” are excellent choices too. “I want you” is definitely my favourite though!
This song and the previous one are both from their debut self titled album. They were pretty much the big hits from the album but I remember the whole album was great. Something you could listen to beginning to end. This song puts a smile on my face... when it was popular my kids were small... they loved the song and would dance around to it... they were always asking "Play the chicka cherry cola song" 😀
You guys will love "To The Moon and Back" by them! Amazing song and a perfect blend of your tastes!
So sad to hear that “David Crosby” from Crosby , Stills and Nash died!!🥲
A lot of amazing music over the years!!!
Glad you reacted to them yesterday!!!
🙏Indeed😥 ⛵The Artist will be missed, but thankfully, we will have his Music in our Hearts and on the Various platforms we enjoy
Affirmation is another great song of theirs. Great lyrics and upbeat feeling.
YES! One of the most meaningful songs ever written. You guys would love the message of this one.
An amazing song with a positive message and I love the way that every line in the song starts with the same two words
“ I believe” Genius! You can would definitely love it because I believe ( no pun intended😂) you would agree with what the song is about. Please try;
To the moon and back
I knew I loved you
Crash and Burn
To name but, a few.
Thanks for another great reaction💜🌈🙏🏻
Congrats on your 1900th video reaction!!! In their short existence (eight years as a band), they only put out two albums. This was their first hit, which came out in 1996 (YES, A 90S SONG!). "Truly Madly Deeply" came off the same album. "To the Moon and Back" and "Break Me Shake Me" are also worth checking out from that record. From their sophomore album, they had "The Animal Song", "I Knew I Loved You", "Affirmation", and "Crash and Burn". They got a lot of mileage out of those two albums! Gotta love those Aussie bands! (And may I recommend a couple of other Aussie bands you haven't heard yet - "What's My Scene" by Hoodoo Gurus, and "Under the Milky Way" by The Church.)
Always enjoyed Crash and Burn
I love love love the Animal Song Jay and Amber need to react to it
I loved the 2nd album, some brilliant songs
I love The Church! There were a couple songs from that album that were wicked good.
I concur and agree with those suggestions - both Hoodoo Gurus and The Church - not just as an ex-pat Aussie but as a music lover!
Just a word in your ears. David Crosby has died at 81.
Hey, thnx 4 the update. To bad. A shame, but he's pretty lucky to get this far.
He formed The Byrds and Crosby, Stills and Nash. He wrote huge hits for many artists including Bob Dylan and Judy Collins.
Ok. A lotta people been wonderin a long time bout them. Is there any "real" music there? I may be in Wichita, but my roots go to Oklahoma, and you damn Okies make me wonder sumtimes. 😒
They must do David's solo hit, "Hero".
Just heard! So sad.
This song reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 on 3/1/97.
most of their songs and lyrics are top notch and has a story, love and something to think about life
Wow! One of my all time favorite songs and bands! I think this song is so sexy!
And RIP the legendary David Crosby.
Truly madly deeply
Amber...run to this! Smiling!
I played this album so much in my preteen years CD scratched up lol To the moon and back is another great song of this album. Their a late 90s Australian duo. Around the bubble gum pop phase 1995-2000.
Excellent l heard this song in the car on the way up to the country and thought that l would suggest it for a reaction video. And voila there you are on my screen
This was an awesome skating song for anyone who remembers the roller rinks.
Its the whole wedding package. Truly madly deeply for the wedding dance and then I want you for the after party!
TMD was my wedding song 15 years ago.
This song's always reminded me of the Roxette songs in which Per Gessle sang lead.
Love Savage Garden. First time I heard this song my niece was singing along and I couldn’t believe she could sing the words that fast!!
I aggree that truly madly deeply is much better along with my most favourite of their songs I KNEW I LOVED YOU BEFORE I MET YOU. and im gonna go to say he has the best voice ever.
1st Verse:
Anytime I need
To see your face
I just close my eyes
And I'm taken
To a place
Where your crystal mind
And magenta feelings
Take up shelter
In the base of my spine
Sweet like a chick-a-cherry cola
2nd Verse:
I don't need to
Try and explain
I just hold on tight
And if it happens again
I might move so slightly
To the arms and
the lips and the face
Of the human cannonball
That I need to
I want to
CHORUS
3rd verse:
I'm the kind of person
Who endorses a deep commitment
Getting comfy
Getting perfect
Is what I live for
But a look
And then a smell of perfume
It's like I'm down on the floor
And I don't know what I'm in for
4th verse:
Conversation has a time
And place in the interactions
Of a lover and a mate
But the time of talking
Using symbols
Using words
Can be likened
To a deep-sea diver
Who is swimming with raincoat.
Come stand a little bit closer
Breathe in and get a bit higher
You'll never know
What hit you
When I get to you.
"I Knew I loved you" is a very nice song by Savage Garden, Amber would certainly like it.
Break Me Shake Me is a total banger!
I agree I love that song
The bass line is killer!!!
I loved them as a kid in the 90s... to the moon and back is another great one to check out...
Because I watched your A League of Their Own reaction and you mentioned The Rosie O'Donnell Show, Rosie introduced Savage Garden to a lot of US audiences for the first time. She heard I Want You before it got popular and started talking about it on the show saying how great it was. She even had a button at her desk that would play a bit of the song, I think around the "ch-ch-cherry cola" part.
To the Moon and Back is my absolute favourite and a must hear!
Very good song from Savage Garden. The lyrics are so quick, too. But a fantastic tune. 👏👍😊
I had been waiting for this one!
Awesome song. Thanks for reminding me of how good music was even in other decades.
To The Moon and Back, Affirmation, Hold Me, and Crash & Burn! You guys, they are the Best Thing out of my home city of Brisbane, Australia! 🇦🇺
RIP..David Crosby. Almost cut my hair was one of my favorites. He used to live in my hometown for some time, much against his wishes I might add, but when he would play this..the warden hated it. :)
Can't say I was ever a fan of them... but I've loved this song since it came out. A near-perfect pop song.
TOO THE MOON AND BACK, from this same album, along with this one are my favorite!
I knew I loved you from their sophomore album is my fav on that one. I was obsessed with them in Jr high. Wow... the memories from this one !
I remembered hearing this song on Baywatch, which was the most watched show at the time. That was when Savage Garden went global. They had some great songs.
To the moon and back you will both love
Couldn't wait to see this reaction! Love this song and I KNEW Jay would jam on this one!
Savage Garden were local homegrown boys from here in Queensland Australia. Great duo. For a different type of song from them, check out "Two Beds and A Coffee Machine". It's bloody moving and a stain on our society that it's still so relevant. Another story-telling gem is "I Don't Know You Anymore"
Seconding both those. Forgot about I Don't Know You Anymore.
Agree that song hits the heart every time.
good times.. ^_^ 24-25 yrs old.. young, free, beautiful.. felt invincible.. even as i stumbled daily, didn't feel beautiful, but i did feel free... they're part of that soundtrack of my life..
Another good song by Savage garden is TO THE MOON AND BACK🥰🥰
Great 90's jam.
Hahaha Jay's eyes when the lyrics began 😮🤯 😅😅😅 I've always liked this song but always assumed it was Roxette.
And they do some really soulful stuff too. When I find it or remember to find it I will request those songs!!!!
Truly madly deeply is AWESOME I concur😍😍😍
Love your channel and RIP David Crosby tonight. I love the 20 minutes daily to relax listening to this before or after talking to clients 40 hours a week in office or telehealth. Drums for the left of my screen, horns to the right. Dave Matthews Band. Tope 5 for me along with Zep, Floyd, Elton and The Beatles. Trust me. :)
To the moon and back, Tears of pearls
The lover after me, crash and burn, two beds and a coffee machine are amazing song songs!!
Truly madly deeply is my preferred song too Amber.
Their first album was my most listened too in the late 90's. Me and my girl back then played the crap out of it.
All Savage Garden rocks! Both albums are amazing.
I Knew I Loved You the best Savage Garden song of all.
Classic late 90s summer hit that reverberated into the early 2000s..
I was at a friend's house jumping out of their shorter second story onto their trampoline listening to this, the Offspring and the random Will Smith moment then. 😂
Finally, someone reacted to this song!!
Ohhhhhhhhh it has been forever since I have heard this one! Thank you for reintroducing it to me.
The 90s vibes are ~immaculate~. This song was my jam in high school. But Jay is also right, you can really hear the influence of some 80s bands that you've covered on the channel before. Listen to this and think of another great Aussie band that you love- INXS.
There was a short period of time that super fast lyrical songs became popular. This is one.
This is a great song but "Truly, Madly, Deeply" is a total classic. One of my Top 5 of all time actually. #1 is "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac; #2 is "Bridge over Troubled Waters" by Simon and Garfunkel.
Savage Garden was one of my first concerts where it was someone I wanted to see and not a band my older sisters wanted to see. They even did a cover of Can't Help Myself by The Four Tops at the show
It was huge bragging rights once you were able to sing the whole song without mistake. I still have the cd somewhere.
Same :)
I forgot all about this song! Ty for the memories! Fun jam!
Oh, I love Savage Garden. "TRLruly, Maddly, Deeply" was used for my wedding song as I walked down the isle. Many other great hits though! They were also awesome live!!!
Break me shake me is my favourite
Tim McGraw - “Don’t take the girl“ is a must listen.
Just find their album Affirmation and listen to the whole thing. You will now regret it! One of my favorite albums ever. Love me some Savage Garden!!
Their 2nd album Affirmation is probably favourite album ever. Crash and Burn is an amazing song and video
Can’t beat the 90s! Can I suggest one song which is kinda forgotten these days but is so unusual, “Stay” by Shakespears Sister.
1999 ..“I Knew I Loved You” another big hit.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DOING THIS SONG!!!!!! I'm so obsessed with this song.
sadly Jay they don't make any song compared or similar to this one
Also known as "The Cherry Cola song." "To The Moon And Back" was another good song of theirs. "I Knew I Loved You (before I met you)" was popular among the online dating crowd in the late 90s.
This song takes me back to the spring of 1997, my senior year of High School! This song was everywhere. Amazing memories.
Darren Hayes originally from Savage Garden. He is amazing and a beautiful person and amazing voice and talent
I Knew I Loved You is another great one. (more like Truly, Madly, Deeply) Amber you'd love it!!
You guys are my favorite reaction music. I love the fact that you have two pictures of Stevie Ray Vaughn in the background. He was the man! Keep up the good work.
Oh I'd forgotten this jem of a jam......thanks 🕊️💜
Maaaan this takes me back. These guys weren't just the first concert I ever went to as a kid.... but also the second XD (I didn't have the money or freedom to go to ones I was all that into, but my aunt was obsessed with Darren Hayes, and needed a +1 so I tagged along.) Those were interesting times. Haha
Also, not only were these the same artist.... it was the same ALBUM! "I Want You" was the first big single that kinda blew them up, and "Truly, Madly, Deeply" was the 3rd (with a song called "To The Moon & Back" in-between.) She was right on saying it felt 90s though - 97, to be exact.
Yeah "I Knew I Loved You, (Before I Met You)". Amber will LOVE it.
Love Savage Garden! More please!!
Oooh this song was EVERYWHERE back in the day. Such a jam. My personal favorite of their's is "Violet" another upbeat tune.
I listened to this album SO many times.
Their entire debut album is filled with AMAZING songs! You should check out a few more, they were great!
They have so many cool, but diverse songs. One for Amber : I knew I loved you (my song when I was pregnant with my daughter). And for Jay : The Animal song. Also Break me, Shake me; Tears of Pearls; Santa Monica; A Thousand Words; Violet
This was my FAVE song when it came out!!!!
I knew I loved you, to the moon and back, and Santa Monica are other great songs from Savage Garden
They are just so amazing!!! I'm 51 and I remember when they came out with their debut album & their sound is so unique, amazing & awesome!!!
The song most ppl pass by Savage Garden - To The Moon And Back (1997)
