Of course you don't need 40s... because Maxxis makes sticky 42s for 17s now ;-)

This is looking like a nice build. Simple but effective !!! Just the way I built my TJ.. I'm on 3 1/2 '' of lift 1'' body lift , fox shocks , adjustable control arms , 35'' BFG all terrain KO 2 's . Does what I need it to do .

Forgot to mention I have 4:88 gears also , but I still run a 30 / 35 for now. Looking to upgrade to a 44 rear as soon as I can find a used one to build.

Larger tires are over-rated. When you add larger tires, you have to build up other items to handle the added stress. Build a truck correctly, and it can wheel with the "big Boys" on 40s'. I've rock crawled with 33" (locked axles, stroker motor, intense flex and so on), and hanged with guys on 40's. Comanche Jeep ( AKA MJ = Master Jeep)

Often that's because you're on trails that offer a very diverse choice in obstacles and lines through them or the guys on the 40s are wheeling trails that don't need them ... Because there's no way you are keeping up with ... built... rigs on 40s that are are on trails that reflect that difficulty level. Taking easy lines and winching more than using the motor to drive obstacles don't count as hanging .

No doubt you can wheel, even on piss any 33 in here that barely may not pass 31” in true diameter. You’re right, you wheel for the vehicle that you build. And when you build with tonsn40s you can wheel far beyond any Dana 30 on 33s

Go watch Matt's world's largest off road tow truck on 54s. You'll eat your erroneous words. That thing proves bigger is better beyond any possible argument or debate or disagreement

I one can't go by it, around it, over it, or through it, on 31X10.5 one probably does not need to "go- it". Please for give the grammar, I don't know how else to put it.

Bfg tires are overpriced you can get falken wildpeak all terrains or general grabber all terrains for a lot cheaper, in my opinion the general grabber tires are actually more durable.

Daily driver, tradeoff between driving comfort or off-road ground pounder. A good winch, rock sliders, bumpers, a/c, keep the back seat for tourists. Nothing wrong with that. His way, not mine or yours.

BS. My 33" BFGs came at 33.1" new. Learn to measure correctly. Inflated to maximum rated pressure, not on the vehicle. Any other way is dishonest.

John is the type a guy that invested his tooth fairy money into a low risk hedge fund because it’s the practical thing for a 9 year old to do. He has to plan for middle school and mechanical pencils are getting any cheaper.
