- Three nerds (or is it one schizophrenic nerd) perform Mozart's Clarinet quintet on Wind synthesizers..
Many people assoociate this piece of music withe the TV episode of MASH where Dr. Charles Winchester (no relation) taught some POWs to play it.

Of course I've heard of electric guitars, violins, cellos, bases, etc. They have been around for a long time. What surprises me is that so many people have not heard of an electric clarinet or 'wind synthesizer. They are actually quite commonly used in recordings and have been around for over 30 years.
It was great! Being a nerd isn't a bad thing. Nerds make the world go round. They put the periodic table together, invented the light build and wheel, mapped the stars and the seas. Nerd made the world round. Thank u fellow nerd
So beautifully harmonized ~~~~~Mozart's Clarinet Quintet ~~~~It is my favorites
music ! Thanks for showing me 5*********
You're talented! Thanks for the invite.
Love the floating motion of John, John and John to the music!
Well played, encore!
Three of a kind. I like it.
Very kind of you to share this. Lively played and engaging.
It's so cool that you have your own version of Mozart's Clarinet Quintet.
Thanks for the nice comment. As for your question about those "Clarinets": they are "wind Synthesizers". They look (sort of) and play like a clarinet but they are electronic midi instruments. They are breath sensitive for volume and have a bite-able reed to bend notes so they are highly expressive, like a 'real' instrument, but they are midi instruments so they can be made to sound like a clarinet, Sax, flute, oboe, etc.
So very pleasing to the ear and enjoyable to watch the three of you playing together.
I really REALLY love your stuff! Thank you so much for sharing with the YT community!
Thank you for contacting me, and for posting the URL to your regular web site.
Now, we can enjoy a variety of good classical music.
That was amazingly beautiful. Thank you for the vid, cant wait for more!!!!
Thank you for sending this! Apart from the "novelty" value of the video, this is actually a very impressive performance of this music. I'm sending this also to my co-workers at Albany Records so they can enjoy it too!
This Mozart piece was surprisingly rich and moving.
Very ,very nice!Thank you!My Mom played the clarinet.I took lessons but do not have the gift.Destined to enjoy listening .I do enjoy music so much.
Thanks for your comment. It is a strange coincidence that you referred to both the Piano Guys and Lindsey Stirling because they are my two favorite CZcams channels. Both of them have such outstanding music and videos. I am honored that you would put me in their league or even in the same sentence. Perhaps if I continue to work hard and get better at my videos one of them might actually see my work and like it, but for now they are far above my league. Thank you so much for the compliment.
Beautiful music. Wind synthesizers are amazingly beautiful.
Brilliant as always!! Keep up this wonderful work and thanks for sharing it with us!
The instrument is a Wind Synthesizer (Electric clarinet). It is breath sensitive aso the player can control the sound and has a bitable reed so he can bend the notes. Thus it is much more expressive than the standard keyboard. As for the musician(s), there is only one of me. Green screens are wonderful things.
Very soft ant warm and gentle harmony.
So good all of you. Thank you !
one of my favorite Mozart pieces!! Thanks!
Thanks for sending this to me. You (all) play beautifully!
Incredible video and love the editing !!! I played flute and piccolo for over 15 years and sure do miss it.
I filmed this in a church just because it was available it had good even lighting ( I didn't have studio lighting at that time) and it has outstanding acoustics. I know that this video was done with midi instruments so I didn't need acoustics since I recorded straight from the line but I went there initially to record some pieces with my euphonium. While I was there I decided to film this video.
Def liked! I haven't got to hear Mozart's Clarinet Quintet cover done so beautifully before.
That was a really nice playing, thanks for sending me the link. I hope you do more videos playing the beautiful classical music!
It's tremendous and beautiful ! Bravo for your editing !
Thanks for sending this, this was very good keep it up!
I love this! Reminds me of when I was young and did the same with a tape recorder. My past aside, you did justice to this lovely Mozart piece. Thanks
Thank you for your nice comment. As for your question, each person was filmed in that building, on his spot, in front of a greenscreen. That way I was sure the lighting was right and consistent with the setting Then they were all placed in front of a video of just the background setting. Thanks again.
Thanks for the share! Clever and amusing (and talented to boot)
I smile at your reply and I smile also as I listen once more to your performance...just love the sound. WOW.
I'm sure this provided many endless hours of amusement. Nice job!
I often call them Electric Clarinets but their technical name is 'Wind Synthesizer'. They are breath sensitive with a bitable reed to bend notes so, as an electric instrument, they are highly expressive.
lovely! thanks for sending me the video!
the parts are so in sync, excellent!
love this version !
Bravo! Thanks for cluing me in to your music with the email, John. As it happens, my wife and I were once clarinetists.
The sound is beautiful.
These guy are GREAT musicians. I enjoyed very much. Thank for the share.
This was a cool arrangement. I also liked how the clarinets had cords out of them. My band instructor sometimes says that we need some Electric French Horns.
Nice! Thanks for sharing. Mozart brings me memories of my Dad cuz he was his favorite composer. RIP Dad :(
This is great, I'm adding to my "music from my friends" playlist...thank you for sending it...God Bless
Thanks for sharing - beautifully done and great fun!
This is so awesome, John! ...oh...and John and John ;-)
Their version is just amazing!
Wow. That was really cool! I really enjoyed it. Thank you for sending this to me!
I absolutely love it!
That was very enjoyable to watch and hear and a very clever concept my friend.
Beautiful!
NIce job, only a person like me that does it all himself can appreciate the time, takes (both audio and video) and of course, the satisfaction. Kudos!
Great music. Thank you you for performing it.
This was very interesting, the humor and yet, the beauty of your arrangement combined. I LOVE IT!!! I am subbed!!! Thank you sooo much!!!
Beautiful, thank you !
Hi my friend!
It's always a pleasure to hear your songs!

AWESOME! I LOVED this! Thanks for posting! it was FANTASTIC! Great Job!
God Bless
This was a great song, and your introduction of the song made me laugh. Plus, up until I watched your video I had never even hear of a wind synthesizer. Yay! I learned something new!
Terrific performance! Thanks for sharing
Very well done...Synthesizers were wonderful...Nice piece...Thanks!
Great work, always love your wonderful music videos!!!
Thanks for that. I just finished watching Mad Men, feeling like life is just one depressing trap after another, and this video -- a patch of sunshine! Excellent arrangement for (faux) winds! Didn't miss the strings at all... Well done!
Always an amazing performance John ;D
The instrument is an 'electric clarinet' or ' Wind Synthesizer'. it is a midi instrument but it is breath sensitive for volume and has a bitable 'reed' so I can bend the notes, much like a conventional clarinet. Even though it is an electronic instrument it is highly expressive, like a wind instrument, and has the versatility of an electronic midi instrument too. I can set it to any key and give it the sound of a flute, oboe, or any other instrument. Thus, it has the best of both worlds.
I've never actually listened to Wind Synths before. Nicely done! I thoroughly enjoyed it! :)
This is just wonderful... I am so loving what I'm hearing..and seeing! You 'all' did fantastic...
Love it! Very creative...
Randy

Great Video! I Like the way you put this all together. Greetings from Holland, Mick.
Very nice and nerdy! I enjoyed this. Very clean video, recording & performance.
I normally don't even look to videos shared with me by anonymous people, but then I saw this, thanks! Subscribed waiting for more vids!
Beautiful performance!
Very nice
I thoroughly enjoyed that! Thanks!
I understand your point and I appreciate its merits. We all know that the synthesizer can go so many directions and is not constrained or even in its best element to simply play conventional composed music (as I did here). However, All performances cannot be all things all of the time. There are many examples on youtube of how far we can go with a wind synth. I wanted to show that it could also be tamed and conventional. It's all part of the diversity of this amazing instrument.
Outstanding , Jack !!!!!
That was quite awesome.
REally great stuff!!!
impressive! you did a really great job on this!
soothing sounds - thanks for sharing
Thanks. You're right on all counts. A lot of video and audio work and, of course, satisfaction. It's not perfect but it was a lot of fun to make.
hey this was awesome! thanks for sending me a link to this video, noteworthystudio
Your trio played this song beautifully, in my opinion. Good for you!
With a wind synth, breath control is still very important and the fingering is as trick as any wind instrument but it is still much easier to blow than a clarinet.
