Massenet, Meditation - Euphonium, the most romantic instrument
Solo euphonium plays Massenet's "Meditation" from Thais.
This is a special video for me, not only because it has such great music but because I made the video and music without any video humor whatsoever. Just straight beautiful music.
The copyright trolls are out in force today. This piece was published in 1894 (128 years ago) and the composer died in 1912 (100 years ago) yet 2 groups are claiming rights to this music. Let's hope that justice triumphs and my dispute wins. By the way, being right does not guarantee victory. On another channel I once posted me playing the Star Spangled Banner on a Kazoo. 4 groups claimed rights. after I posted my dispute one of them still refused to give up his claim. In cases such as this YT always errs on the side of the claimer, so as far as CZcams is concerned, someone owns the rights to my performance of the Star Spangled Banner played on a Kazoo and it isn't me.
Let's keep our fingers crossed.

"Hall of the Mountain (Troll) King", from the 'Peer Gynt Suite', is one of Edvard Grieg's most notable works; however, it was far from his favorite. I am hoping that the irony will be able to make itself felt." I sought to use this music...

    To each his own, but I'll take Beethoven any day of the week! Aside from a few things like Requiem and Alla Turca, I was never a big fan of Mozart. But Beethoven's music is bursting with passion! It MAKES you listen! When Mozart first heard a young Beethoven play, he said "Remember that young man, he will make a name for himself". Well, he sure had that right! Beethoven was able to learn from Mozart and the other greats of the time. Then, he threw away the rule book and wrote his own! Not even deafness could stop him! Unbelievable!

    • @JohnWinchesterMusic
      @JohnWinchesterMusic Před 6 lety

      I agree that Mozart is often magnified too much above many other great composers. I like Mozart because I find his music diverse and refreshing, I like Vivaldi because his music is fun and light... although the format is rather formulaic. Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Liszt, Chopin, etc all have features that I like. The trick is to find what you like from each composer and use it. My goal here was to cover a range of Mozart. Perhaps a survey of other composers would be a good idea too.

    • @t-boog2173
      @t-boog2173 Před 6 lety

      John Winchester, I respect that. BTW, I didn't mean to compare the two but it has always bothered me how Mozart is so highly revered above all the rest or as you so well put it, "magnified too much". We all know he was a one in a billion prodigy & genius but he was not alone. IMO, composers like Beethoven, Bach and Paganini, though all very different, wrote compositions of equal genius to Mozart's. I don't know, maybe it's all the stories about Mozart's childhood(he could play blindfolded, he could hear violins were tuned differently though played weeks apart, etc). Maybe all those stories helped elevate his reputation to almost that of a god (Zeus, Hercules, Mozart?). Anyway, I think we're both on the same page.. They were all great!
