Yeah, unfortunately I have to agree. The combat doesn't really seem very exciting and very basic.
Gotta agree, we need more movement based mechanics and attacks should feel heavier and hit harder.

Ya agreed. I love the ideas behind this game, but this isn't encouraging as far as combat goes. It's hard to imagine something starting this rough evolving into a more refined system. I hope I'm wrong though!

Combat will make or break this game. PVP/PVE, doesnt matter. If the game plays this clunky on launch it will fail hard. Hope the devs put A LOT more effort into it...
I super hope they look into using Motion Matching on their animations. I think that is the biggest thing that gets skirted in online games. I know why but at the same time I'm hoping an advancement happens in that arena.
I'm loving the rebalance on npcs to make even wolves serious threats! Good for immersion
I am a firm believer for MMOs that wolves should be wolves and always be a threat. As you progress you get better tools to deal with them but it shouldn't be come a scenario where you are impervious because you are level 99 and the wolf is level 1.
How does jumping work in combat? I only saw one player jump once. Can you still be stunned mid jump animation? Are there jumping attacks? Does Jumping cost stamina? Can you use Jumping as an movement skill? Can you instantly swap direction with jump without having to turn your character?
Hello! Great questions! So jumping does partially animation lock you, there is a jumping skill but it doesn't do anything yet. There are no special jumping attack animations but I could see that being something that gets added later. Direction swapping from jumping happens similar to on the ground and doesn't just snap to where your camera is. (at least I am pretty sure on this one) Jumping does cost a decent amount of stamina so it is generally not advisable. Highly recommend checking out the official discord for PxD (linked above) if you have more questions as a bunch of other testers have their NDA partially freed with each of these videos to share more about their experiences too!

Combat is a HUGE part of longevity. Has all the other features just needs more tactile combat. Dodges, blocks - like active blocking (think last oasis).
Reminds me of Darkfall Online. Which was also janky when it came to combat, but the scale and social interactions made that game fantastic.
Might check out this game when available until Ashes of Creation (if that game doesn't bomb).
There needs to be a dodge roll or some other way to quickly disengage from combat with this type of slow methodical combat, otherwise it'll be gank city.

shield bash stun lasts for HOW LONG? 2:56 and that shield bash wasn't even close to hit but hit anyways. I hope for gods this game doesn't have as bad latency/de-sync issues as new world.
Playing New World i can say that I'm not feeling desync. I do think that there might be some coding that allows for the ranged bashing hahaha.
What will be interesting is how the server holds up with 100+ players throwing punches! Guess we will see when we run a fighting tournament/ line battle the Friday of the alpha!
Too long haha. Some CCR, diminishing returns, dodges, or cleanse seems needed

I have roughly 3k hours in New World, and i'm so excited for this game!!!! I love the base building that draws me to most of the games that I play.
I love that the developers (AND PROJECT MANAGER) have a genuine interest in user interaction and how things function within the game.
You have a true gem on your hands. And you seem like the primary content developer
there is a lot of time gating in the game. It take you at minimum 1h30min to create an iron bar (not farming, just the station processig it) I dont want to even think of the time required to forge this armor
Plate armor is the equivalent of building a tank in modern times. Once you craft the first one though the subsequent ones take way less time! Especially if you have many furnaces operating at once! Go to bed for 8 hours and you can craft the whole clan armor when you wake up!
somehow reminds me of Guild Wars 2 PvP (which has lots of potential but is sadly not really getting the attention by devs)
a bit cranky fight system wish it was more simillar to Mount and Blade 2 :D
Id never play another game if PxD had directional combat like Last Oasis or M&B!

PVP should not reward someone / clans with resources. especially not with higher tier materials. This just leads to, the winner group getting even stronger, hereby alienating all other guilds from the PVP Zone, rendering them unable to punsh up ever again.
I hear ya! It is important to note all these resources can be gathered outside PvP through Refining... BUT its just less efficient!

best builiding and crafting ive ever seen but the combat is not from this century. Would haveat least expected something like last oasis combat
The world looks beautiful but combat is what is going to make or break this game. If they can implement new world level combat in this game it could be great
I feel like the HP should be like half of what it currently seems to be. Walking around with an arrow in the head, makes little sense.
A big part of this is that weapons do more damage as you level up that weapons skill. Since it's a short alpha no one has their skills leveled very high, so there's an imbalance between how much damage they can do vs the mitigation armor can provide.
I was under geared in terms of armor, but my spear and shield skills are maxed so I was still able to win some against stronger opponents, it's an early system for sure but it's getting intricate fast
Couldn't disagree more, a large healthpool allows for more counterplay and skill expression. This is especially important in full-loot PVP games. You don't want to lose months of progression from a single arrow headshot
@@AleksiJuvakka 100% Correct!!! Anyway you could embrace a middle ground: large health pool and headshot multiplier. You can enjoy fights and arrows mean a thing at least. However I'm a Rust player and i love to see people running around with an arrow in the centre of the head and a spear in the butt LoL :)
This combat doesn't look good.. it looks very clunky.. did your devs play New World at all? Maybe have them play that and understand it more. This game looks like New World basically. From what I have seen the combat still needs ALOT of work
Why waste time adding textures or anything until you first get the combat down??? Companies build these massive games with tons of hours only to realize the combat is shit and they have to start from scratch.... DO COMBAT FIRST! IS IT FUN? NO - START OVER. YES - Continue Development! EASYYYY

Un pj con una armadura de ese calibre no podia saltar nincorrer asi.
Eso se dejaria para armaduras muy muy livianas.
De hecho era costoso bajar escalones con esas armaduras....como para dar esos saltos o.moverse en batalla tan agilmente.
Las espadas pesaban una burrada, los movimientos eran mas circulares y bastos, de hecho normalmente eran mas aturdimientos lo que ocasionaban las espadas.
Estas cosas las pueden ver y extraer muy muy bien de kingdom comes delivera nce

...far from an Alpha I would say...I hate to say it too...I expected a lot more from the premise.
Tudo no jogo é bonito, exceto o combate, ainda está muito feio, animações feias e armas grandes e pesadas atacando rápido e dando pouco dano.
The game looks beautiful, but as far as game mechanics.. I don't think this is it. There are so many fighting games out there and it seems like they're trying to create something from scratch, again. Look at Last Oasis, For Honor, Chivalry.. But this seems just disconnected and it doesn't feel impactful swinging your weapon around. This feels and looks like a beautiful browser game with the way it's played. But they want to take hours crafting materials and farming.. It's like .. who are you trying to appease? The general populous? The people who WANT to play 6+ hours a day? Would've gained a lot more traction imo if the combat was more of the focus. Art and style can always be updated. Combat on the other hand... You'll have people complaining about updates when you change the flow of the game ALL the time. No one really cares about how beautiful a game looks anymore. I.e. New World. I hope this project goes well though.
It's sad, but this combat system will bury this game. Well hello last oasis, new world and other amazing new MMOs made by marketers

The combat is so cluncky and horrible. I suggest the devs watch Dragon's dogma 2 combat gameplay. DD2 is one of the best for combat mechanism.

What is this? All those trailers and developer talks to ship this ugly mess into alpha? Im always up to try something new, but this looks insanely bad. You always have to to the combat part right first, then you build the MMO around it. No use in having a 'good looking' game when the interaction with it feels / looks like shit. Hard pass, lol
