I'm at the beginning of my journey with long covid and I have severe fatigue and PEMs and brain fog... My old life is completely gone now, and this is so hard to accept. I cried through the whole video. Some days are so hard that I lose hope. Thank you Realan for your channel. All these testimonies of hope and advice are so helpful. I don't know how I would keep going without them.

I know I am late to this video, but I wanted to say that during the worst of my LC symptoms I was trying everything everyone was saying was working for them. At one point (after 1000's of dollars and nothing was working) I told myself, "It can't be this hard and/or complicated." Later I learned that my gut was right. It was not hard. I just needed to go make sure I gave my body the things it needed. Nutrition, rest, sunlight, and stress reduction. I am a classic type A person and was always stressed and running on empty. I am still now in that 80-90% recovered and everyday I have to make sure I am doing the best I can for my body so that it can heal. So...I would tell my past self, "You were right, it does not need to be this hard and complicated. Stop trying all these weird or unusual supplements and practices and go back to the basics." I also feel that one day LC won't be a thing. That covid, like other viruses or illness trigger ME/CFS and science will understand better this condition that is triggered by these causes and not in our "heads" (just my opinion)

Wow! I have started including fermented foods into my diet and instant results. I have been vegan for a while but not the healthy kind, as I have been struggling with sugar cravings and the need to eat all the time. However, since eating fermented foods(only been 3 DAYS!), I have no sugar cravings and I don't need to eat all the time. It just shows how all the antibiotics in meat, dairy, and pills can mess your gut right up! Reading your book just now and so much of it relates to me! My period has also been infrequent, I hope with continuing to make my gut feel good, that will get better too. Her book is the book I have been waiting for! I read "How Not to Die" By Michael Gregor (Brillant book) a while ago and that turned me vegan straight away but It never helped me understand how important it is to sort out your gut to get healthy like this book. EAT YOUR FERMENTED FOODS! Thank You!

Pamela!! How incredible!!! This is amazing, I'm THRILLED that you are finding things that are helping you out. Isn't it such a crazy experience when the over eating and sugar cravings start to go away?! For so long I thought it was a will power issue, when in fact my gut just needed work. SO much stress for so many years for nothing. But at least we are fixing it now! I also read How Not to Die and LOVED it. And I am over the moon that you are finding my book helpful as well. Thanks so much for taking the time to share all of this. And Yay for progress!!!

I must admit in my time of positivity I do have really awful times when I feel like I’m not dealing with things to well. I have had some recent new symptoms during the outbreak of covid 19 . I have had this draining symptom where my eyes 👀 are closing but my eyes roll into the back of my head and it stays like that for a period of time which really frightens me as I have no control over the eye lid or the eye . I hope we will be able to keep in contact with each other as it’s nice to share times with people and new symptoms. . Sorry 😐 🤗I didn’t say Canadian we can put this down to my fatigue. Nearly 6 years into it, I am experiencing hope that I might get better. I experienced a little joy and sense of encouragement from my 2 Nd driving lesson. I pray to God this is the start of my life crawling out of the pit iv been in for years. Thank God for all the people who try to help people with this horrendous disease. Thanks Raelan...I would add that the devastating effect of losing vitality and energy produces a grieving process...which should be self acknowledged and worked through in the same way as grief in any other of life. But then the focus should be forward and not backward ..so don't compare life with ME to how it was before...which of course is the natural thing to do. I now know, it's better to live ' in the moment' as far as possible......which is actually all that is ever possible anyway...and what you said about mental health is vital, and easily overlooked with the deluge of physical symptoms.

Very nice. I definitely grieve for lost years of my life... but now I get a tremendous amount of...Optimism...from my belief in Reincarnation. I now believe I have much more time than 80 years. I had two past life memories come to me in my 20's: in one I was in a war, lost both my feet (have many foot problems in this life), in the other I was a monk in a monastery. That second memory came w a wonderful feeling of Love and Brotherhood. So now I see myself coming right back here after this incarnation ends. Woo hoo, flying cars and integrative medicine!

Hi Matthijs! I'm so glad you enjoyed this and thanks for taking the time to share that 😊 And yes - great question! And unfortunately one that seems to have a slightly (or dramatically) different answer for everyone. For me, it was a mix of things like finding the right diet for me, finding a movement/exercise program that could strengthen my body (and not make me worse), finding ways to support my lymphatic system, etc. Basically a ton of lifestyle medicine. I have much of this info scattered among a few videos here and I am also working on one video right now that will sum it all up so that people can find it all in one place. I will have it out soon! It can be confusing and frustrating, can't it! (and yes - boring 😒) I hope you are managing ok and good for you for researching and searching for your own answers to get past this!

I startet with MM info, so a hole plant based diet.
In the beginning it actually got worse until it got a better little by little (but still not recovered).
Seems off to me, that somebody would have a direct benifit from the diet. Most people I met did not have this experience.

This is all very new for me and your video is totally what I needed. I have a question- how do you recommend answering someone when they ask how you are doing? • @RaelanAgle
      @RaelanAgle  Před 4 lety +3

Hi Kristin, I'm so glad you found this helpful. And that's a really good question. And a tough one! It can be draining can't it to have to try and keep explaining this to people who don't get it. Personally I've found that talking too much about my health struggles and my symptoms is not helpful so I try to avoid it. I'd usually aim to give some sort of generic answer that acknowledged I was unwell but that didn't sound overly negative. Something along the lines of "still facing some health challenges but working hard to get past them".
I suspect that we each have to find a way to deal with this that sits well with us. What feels right to you?
I did a video where I shared more on this if you're interested in checking it out: czcams.com/video/UQCiI6uwxfc/video.html

    2 years update:
The only thing that truly made a difference for me is taking cold foot and arm baths daily for 2 minutes. I now have little energy, but haven't felt beyond exhausted since the beginning of the hydrotherapy. I can even do some daily exercises and go for walks. While before, 15 min of reading would make me exhausted for the rest of the day/week. Maybe this will help someone.
Regarding the mental health. I've been giving my body lots of daily rest (most of the waken hours) for the past 5 months, and can see small improvements in exhaustion level and muscle pains, but mentally I feel significantly better. I don't have the overwhelming worries and thoughts that I'm good for nothing. The fact that I'm still renting at 34 nor have a car doesn't crush my self-esteem anymore. So, I thought to myself that my body is repairing the most important thing first with the little energy it got from resting, and the fatigue will be taken care of after that. I hope that's the case.

I'm so sorry to hear that you are going through this. My onset was from a very bad flu that initially had me bed-bound and definitely not able to manage a walk a day, so I empathize. Also many of the interviews I've done are with people who got things like glandular fever and then didn't recovery for years. I'll share the playlist here in case you'd like to check it out. Wishing you all the best with this and I hope you find what you need to put this behind you soon 💛

Every point, each and every one…. my brain wants to scream…. No. Just “No”.
I’m not saying “No” to the truth of what you are saying. Not at all.
My “No” is basically…. different. There is something different about the functioning of the whole system.
Most people do not HAVE to work this hard to simply exist without suffering and pain.
Working this hard to simply exist without being “a productive part of society” aka someone who can self sustain financially or provide for other’s sustenance then you are not “working”.
Yes. People can recover themselves. But it doesn’t have to be “work YOU have to do”.
Find someone who bring love and validation and time and space, a healthy environment for you to recover. I don’t mean a nurse maid. I mean someone who brings into your life a kind of loving environment that brings back the desire to live life fully.
If the people or your environment brings into your life a NEED or DEMAND on you to sustain them and their desire to live life then that is work.
You recovers not because of what you did but because someone came into your life that brought a desire to live, space to recover, a loving touch that is primal, a partner, a live life partner vs a partner that drains your reserves and takes and doesn’t sustain.
    TLC ❤. Just an opinion

Step 1, cry yourself a river. I am still on step 1.
