After almost completing our van build, we have one big job to do: fit the windows and awning.. We head away on the maiden voyage to test out the van and get our windows and awning fitted by a pro (or so we hoped a pro anyway!) it's a bit of a disaster trip away as we both get really sick and it seems the work we get done isn't at all as it should be.. Should we have just done this ourselves after all??

I had to call a plumber out recently to fix the flush on a toilet. He changed a washer then left without checking it had fixed the problem. It hadn't! GRRRRRRR! Rant over 😂 keep posting guys ❤
That actually may be an allergic reaction to the sardines. Rash/gastric pain. You can develop an allergy to anything at any point in your life. The problem with allergic reactions is they tend to get worse each time you are exposed to the allergen. Hope you are both feeling better.
Thanks, could be! Nick was poorly before the sardines but the rash happened after the sardines! Only one way to find out, he’ll have to have some more sardines!! 😅

That rash looks like urticaria which is usually an allergy reaction, but the upset tummies and pain in the chest are interesting (oesophageal spasm maybe?). So sorry you've both been poorly... hope by now you're fully recovered and ready to adventure again x
Have you heard of ‘Air Toxicity’ it may not be the case for Nick but possible for Sarah. Usually has a delay of reaction , a couple of days after a flight and caused by the air in the cabin provided by the engines on the plane rather than externally, it’s extremely toxic and causes severe illnesses .

We've had Dometic and Fiamma awnings delivered broken - don't leap to conclusions that the installer damaged it. Even boxed, if the delivery company isn't super careful they can easily get damaged and not be noticed until installed.
The van looks so nice now! I so understand your angree, who wouldnt be that. Hope all will be sorter out for you. Lovely Charlie looks fine!
To fit a awning and not open it i find that hard to believe.
@barthomer1000 I agree--totally on the installer to crank the awning out and make sure everything works before he takes payment. And the job he did on the windows looks fabulous. Sounds like two different people worked on it and the one who installed the awning didn't follow through. Hate that.
I agree.. Definitely something not quite right has happened and we still don’t know! Frustrated about the situation but not much we can do 😢
Another thought regarding your fever and rash. You had a similar fever and rash about a year ago. In addition you had a strange infection on your chest, too, as I recall. While the three illnesses may or may not be related, this latest illness could be Scarlet Fever brought on by a strep infection. The strep infection does not necessarily have to be in the throat. Can be anywhere in or on the body. The rash certainly looks like Scarlet Fever, and while you can recover from the acute phase, there can be accompanying damage to the heart and kidneys. Strep is bacterial and easily treated with antibiotics. Remember though- you get what you pay for, particularly with unsolicited advice. 😀 Best of luck and good health.
I'm hoping the rash is just how my body reacts to infections these days, as have recovered within 48 hours each time.
@@theexPAWers People do recover from strep infections, on their own. But if it is a bacterial strep infection, it's the underlying damage that it can cause to the heart and kidneys that is concerning and which shows up many years later. Couldn't hurt to get yourself checked out, should it happen again. Best regards and good health!

I have a microbiologist background and whilst it could be a bug picked up anywhere, my guess is that it started with the dog and that's why Nick had it first. There are several infections that can be spread from dog to human including norovirus. And some people can develop a rash to that too.

I did warn you last week about a Dometic awning. Very disappointed with ours which I had to repair after only one year. I hope you get it sorted but if you can get it changed for another make I would do so. Good luck with it.

Funny thing, I was sitting in an A+E in Almeria with serious bad diarrhoea thinking jesus I'd hate to in a van with this! Get well soon guys I'm on 2 antibiotics and a bland diet for a week, stay away from sardines till you both recover! ❤❤

Hi guys you do have to open the awning half way to bolt it to the brackets. So he is not being truth-full. The must have dropped it when it was open to bolt it to the brackets. Hope you both get well soon van is looking good

Wow! Your new windows looks fantastic. I think you made a perfect choice when you chosed tinted windows! We have had a fabricated campervan for four years fitted with tinted windows, and we are so happy with it! So sorry for your broken awning. We truly hope you get the awning sorted out. It sound like some kind of food poisoning , it gives you flu like systoms and last for about 24 hrs. It sounds like something you ate or drank, glad you both are on the mend🎉🎉

We got a new van a couple of months ago with new awning fitted. First time we had it out a freak cyclone type wind mangled it. Had it 4 hours. Cost about £350 an hour. 😂 at least it wasn’t someone else’s fault. Feel your pain. New ones arrived at dealers so here we go again

I believe the bloke that fitted it.
I've bought two things lately.
Turned up packing was absolutely perfect no damage on box, protection was very good well packed.
But inside the renogy inverter had a big dent in the end panel.
It definitely was damaged at the factory and then packed.
Second this was a feelfree kayak.
Picked it up from the shop it was still wrapped in its original very thick plastic bag and kayak was also wrapped in several layers of thick bubble wrap but on getting it home unwrapped the kayak it had a deep scratch in the plastic.
That definitely was done in the factory.
As the wrapping was total undamaged and and no marks whatsoever.
Could well be the case, we too have received things damaged like that.. Let’s see what the suppliers say.. Sorry to hear you’ve had similar issues with products 😊

My husband had a very similar rash that appeared and then disappeared within a few hours. We believe it was an allergy to monosodium glutamate that must have been added to a take away Chinese meal that we had bought while on holiday.
Oh what a shame. I feel for you because yesterday evening I suddenly felt totally exhausted, went to bed and crashed out but woke in the night liquid and was violently sick. I rarely get bugs ( in uk) but this one not nice. I have woken up feeling better but with a headache. A viral rash is not uncommon my son always got it when he has a virus.
Hopefully Dometic can get to the bottom of this problem with your awning - to come this far for that to happen very annoying 🙁 another great video thanks for sharing

a bit suspicious the professional fitter made a point of telling you he never tried the awning after fitting it. It looks like he fitted a second hand used (& damaged)awning. If not presumably he can provide invoice & warranty from manufacturer who are obliged to refund or replace. Sorry both unwell joy if being selfemployed.. Vlogs must go on. Van is amazing windows really finish it off. You may not choose to do it again but you have done such a great job & your DIY skills have really come on that you can now tackle anything. Congratulations & well done!
Sorry to hear you've all been unwell. The rash may have been that virus beginning to conclude. I always get a rash if I have a virus and its always after the worst bit and signals the start of the recovery. Maybe charlie had it then nick, the dizz then sara. Hope it all goes okay with getting that awning replaced.
That bug is sweeping the UK. Airports are rife with it as well. Took me a good week to get over it. Rest up.
I had that virus over Easter I was in bed for a week. Took a fortnight to fully recover. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm recently back in the UK from a trip to New Zealand, 24 hours flight time. Touch wood it's been a few weeks now and no illness. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger..

please please look into mast cel activation and histamine intolerance nick! classic case... u had a thing before as well...alergicy reaction...also u had covid so that messes up ur mast cells.... fish/alcohol are both BIG histamine triggers.... I have these conditions genetically and happy to chat more if u want to xx
So sorry you have both been sick. I have had an awful virus for a week. Unfortunately sometimes returns are just repacked and sold again. This has happened to me a couple of times, it is terrible.

Make sure you have your side window closed when opening/closing the slide door. It may fall out. Comes from posts on the revel Facebook page I have.

Scarlet Fever is currently doing the rounds here in North Shropshire and the rash looks like what Nick had. If Sarah did bring it back, Chester isn't that far away going by the video footage from your last vlog. Also, Nick might be having an allergic reaction to the virus too. I say this because I once had an allergic reaction to the flu the once and I also had a similar rash. Hope your both feeling better now. How is Charlie doing? Is he ok?
Firstly really your both troopers, being so ill and still vlogging , please rest up a bit . The windows are wow they make such a difference, and the van build is nearing the end if it was me and I’d been through all this and found the awning damaged think I’d have burst into tears , but iam sure they will replace it they would be silly not to you have a lot of influence on theses vlogs good luck 🤞

So disappointing when you buy something that is broken, definitely go back to where you got it from and get your money back. Liked the tint on the window. Still would prefer sliding window and smaller on the door Not much luck on this trip.You been ill so have we head ache sore throat coughing and runny nose and acheing bodies .in Spain so don't know if you got it in UK it has been over a week now and still not great.. hope you feel much better soon and get the awning sorted. Lots of viruses cause a rash like that but so does food allergies. I had one 4 years ago - stretched from my neck to my knees but apart from feeling 'off' I was ok. Should go within a few days.

Looks like measles. My son is 24 and has it. Same symptoms, same rash, everything...... There has been an outbreak in Derbyshire where he lives. Our worry is he has a five week old baby.

I’m wondering if you could have been exposed to Roseola virus, especially since there’s a rash? Hopefully you are both feeling much better now.
There are so many viruses that are going around these days……RSV has made a reoccurrence here in the USA. Drs are saying that it has become more common in adults, and it isn’t just something children can get. It can also be much more severe, and in some cases, be fatal.

Hope you both are feeling better soon. That awning…I agree, it was used. Lesson learned….when you have “professionals” do work, ALWAYS check their work before you leave no matter the weather. Hopefully they will replace it with what you paid for.
I know! We are regretting not checking everything out properly before we left.. I guess we should just not trust anyone! But isn’t that kinda sad😢.. We have been done a few times for being too trusting.. Sad but true I guess, hopefully we can get some answers today😊
