Johnny, it was such a pleasure to meet you in Arizona, even though I was missing my voice. You were so nice to me and my friend and I really appreciate your time.
Ohh hey! I do remember! Great meeting you too!
Holy crap theres a game expo in az?! Im gonna have to look into this. I imagine its in the phx convention center like comic con is? I live in the ahwatukee area. I had no idea things like this are held in az, usually its in new york or la etc. Pretty cool!
I love it when you embrace your darker critic side, but never give up on your honest and pure self. True class act!
Only recently discovered this channel but the positivity you build around yourself makes this great entertainment. I've even went back to older videos that touch on topics I'm into
You are the best videogame channel on CZcams imo and always have been. The overall positive vibe is almost like a Mr Rogers level of familial TV bliss. Thank you man.
Lol.. the frustration in your voice with Slime Word is real!! 😅
Ah man it’s so funny watching that 😂😂😂
I love Sunday mornings with a hot cup of coffee and a new HCG episode!
Yep me too.
Hot cuppa, for me (tea, for you Yanks...lol), but otherwise fully agree. :)
Same here. just after 10am EST, my real morning starts with HCG
Here in UK it's around tea time when I can watch the latest hcg
@@TheDneaves UK too I usually catch the upload just past lunchtime
That “You Lose” voice sounded like a drunk Stallone.
I'm not convinced it wasn't...lol
I wasn't aware that there was a sober-sounding version of Stallone.
LOL! it's so true!
I recently managed to beat Fighting Street pretty easily by setting the turbo switches to max, which allowed me to pull off the special moves better.
Todd's Adventure in Slime World on the Lynx is awesome. You can connect up to 8 players in one go. (Although, I have never done such a thing.)
That's always the thing with those high-capacity localized multiplayer modes; it's a great thing if you can make it happen, but gathering together that many people, consoles, game cartridges/discs, and link cables all in one place at the same time is just not practical for the most part.
DOUBLE DUNGEON!!! An HCG classic. The pillar on which Johnnys collection is build on. The glue that holds everything together. 😂
Slime World was originally developed for the Lynx, and it’s said to be the first ever 8-player game with linked consoles. For Lynx it was a good time with me and my friend! Definitely doesn’t cut it for a PCE CD game, though.
11:41 ranma 1/2! From the early days of rumiko Takahashi sensei ( Inuyasha, kyokai no rinne , Urusei Yatsura Remake etc etc )
Man I unironically love Double Dungeons so every time I see it holding up Johnny's shelf it cracks me up 😂
Johnny, I hope that recent events haven’t got you too down. It’s great to vent out some frustration, but always remember you got the rest of your life ahead of you!
You quit smoking, you got married, and you’re doing what you love doing as a living. Be proud of that!
I got the Genesis port of Slimeworld used at a West Coast Video for the goof. Me and my best friend had so much fun exploring or getting lost for hours. The battle mode was pretty fun too. One of the few Genesis games I held on to.
If Johnny hates Slimeworld, he should try Boogerman!
@Johnny it is always fun watch to see the games you love list and the games you hate as well. Always a fun watch have a good week with the family
2017 had an article about the cross-promotional licensing between Capcom and Bandai Namco, but that seems like it is more about online matchmaking improvements. With a little more digging, it appears Capcom filed trademark licensing rights for Street Fighter around 2008 and it was renewed in 2021. 🙂
My memory might be wrong, but I recall that if you engage the Turbo switches on the controller, you can pretty much walk right through Fighting Street and see the end.
There is also a code to enable just special moves! I forgot to mention that too!
I always appreciate your emphasis on positivity and having fun but I also love videos like these.
Johnny: 0:51 Why do you place your games horizontally and not vertically? The games in the bottom take damage by doing that. It is also difficult to get out games that are below others. Can you explain?
That Slime world intro does look awesome!
I wish there was more videos of you getting mad. They're hilarious. I remember being in 12th grade and watching your "blooper reels" and laughing out loud. I'm 30 now, it's been so many years since I've followed you, it's almost like I know you personally. It's weird I know lol
Your stories about Fighting Street on the Turbo made me think of the "We have Street Fighter at home" meme.
I love how the split second where you let the volume through for the Slime game, even the music sounds like farts.
For a 50yr old your hair is fantastic
I was surprised when i found out he was 50 the other day good for him
I remember owning Todd's Adventures in Slime World on the Atari Lynx, and oh boy, did I play it to the end. Interestingly, I always considered that game one of the Lynx's best. It was a really good metroidvania on the go. I recall back in the '90s, slime was all the craze. Masters of the Universe had slime, TMNT had slime, and this game too!
I don't know if it's *that* interestingly; the Lynx version of Todd's Adventures in Slime World is pretty well regarded by critics. It's only the home console versions that dropped the ball. But regardless, it is cool that you had such a great time with the game.
Wow, was shocked to see Slime World LMFAO. Forgot all about that game. Had it on genesis and me and my buddy use to coop it all the time. You gotta clean the slime off of you in the water lmao
Great video Johnny! One of the wild things about getting a crappy game back in those days was even if it sucked, because video games were hard to come by. We still played the heck out of them. I have a lot of memories of these, but the very first one I remember was Dash galaxy in the alien asylum for the NES. It was a game I bought using allowance money, it’s sounded super cool on the box, and it was anything, but. It was still a pretty interesting game, but it just played so terribly.
Always feels good to get the sunday episode in after a long day. Stay golden Pony Boy
The Slime World art and anime intro was stellar. I would've expected it to be an adventure game like Snatcher or an RPG. Thanks for sharing. I love all your videos.
About what you said on your last video with taking a break from conventions for a while, I wish i could go to Expo this year to have a chat with you and have feel for the convention but it's sadly too far away for me to travel
Thanks for another awesome episode! The bit on slime world was especially entertaining 😂
johnny is the only guy i know that had the 3do back in the day....like you sit and think about who actually had one when it came out. This guy did...
Bro your Fighting Street story… My Dad and I got this game in the early 90s and we too made fun of that “All over the world!” dialogue… 😅 We also quoted it for years to come! Crazy
Really digging the "Future Cops" shirt. I see you!!!
One game that always coming back when I think of bad game is Dragons Lair on Snes.. 😅
That was brutal. The controls were so bad too.
@@kadosho02 yes and very sloooow.. :)
This made me laugh quite hard. Your genuine hatred for Slime World was funny.
Hey Johnny! I was wondering if you can do at some point more videos on the Gameboy Advance. Being born in the 90s, that system was a huge part of my life. Thanks!
Great episode!
instant classic episode!
That picture of you when you got the 3DO for Christmas is iconic. It could of been worse , you could of bought the Aturdi Jaguar 😅
Ahh a throwback! Gotta love that!
Been listening to agg episodes from 2010...ah the nostalgia...Johnny just finished DQ9....Every other word from Johnny was either "Robman" or " I was dating a girl at the time".
Your voice has not aged 1 day since 2010 Brah!
Real awesome video Johnny sincerely Wayne ❤️
I bought a lot of records in the 80s based on cover art and band names. That's how I found Fear and The Germs, just to name a few. Never heard it on radio. It's so different now, same with games. You can search anything and decide but back then, it was a gamble. BTW, loved the pic of you in your DKs shirt with your Mom. Take care.
That's how I found all my favourite bands back then too!
That Germs album is such a cool cover. So iconic
@@opaljk4835 Gi? Yes, it was. Darby was obsessed with circles.
I remember spending a weekend at my friends house, playing random SNES games, which included Ranma 1/2: Hard Battle. I ended up barrowing that game, and playing through everyone's arcade mode. For whatever reason, that game peaked my interest at that particular moment. My 2nd run with the series was pretty random. I can recall watching some movie (don't know the name) where they had a Ranma 1/2 poster on the back of a door. That somehow led to me finding out about the actual anime series.
Dash Galaxy in the Alien Asylum....i got it for Christmas and have suffered ever since.
Slime World is a blast, at least on the Lynx.
I think it would be awesome to have a tour of your most unique and rare games Johnny! Give me that episode lol
This is by far the best gaming youtube channel. Johnny exudes positivity and passion for games every time, and puts the audience in a happy mood. The latest video is definitely always one of the highlights of the week. Greetings from Finland.
Brother I remember the first time you revealed the double dungeon shelf support. We are getting old!!!
Love the Ghostbusters 2 reference for Slime World. 🤣
I had Slime World on the Lynx. I could never figure out what to do in that game but I remember lots of car rides playing it.
The Violent Soldier cover is soooo metal.
The giant "Hey, this is a CD. You need a CD player attachment" logo makes sense as they're weren't any other CD games prior to that day.
"floaty, laggy choppy etc" have always been a challenge for me to reprogram my repertoire and learn not only making said crappy games somewhat playable, what's more, even fun & replayable.
The double dungeons holding up the shelve for "real games" is an epic meme and metaphor 😂
That SFII/Future Cops shirt goes hard.
Thanks for the great content!
I remember reading something about the fighting street name back in the days in a egm magazine i believe .🤔
Great ep! I've never played any of these, but I see why you dislike them.
I love the music in Fighting Street (Street Fighter 1). It reminds me of the soundtrack from the first Bloodsport movie. Totally kickass.
my head wasn't in the gutter until you suggested it John... Slime World... lmao
Oh man I totally forgot about Slime World! A friend of mine was one of the few people who had the Lynx and he had it on that. I remember very little of the game itself but I don’t think we played it much.
Takes me back to the days when all you had to go on when you buy/rent a game was the box art and maybe a friend who played it. Sometimes you hit a home run (I rented Earthbound purely on the cartridge) and sometimes you strike out. 😅
Fello hater of Slime World...
I can remember getting this as a gift and forcing myself to play it.. nightmare fuel lol.
Hope all is well Johnny!
I love how you transformed into Robert Patrick in the Double Dragon movie
6:20 **Plop**
Epic! XD
the best cover art ive ever seen from back in the day has got to be The Ultimate Stuntman lol platinum cartridge with a turbo switch on the back of it too lol. It's worth a google image, so tough.
Street Fighter 1 was Fighting Street in the arcades in the States.
I remember playing it with the pads.
And when Street Fighter 2 First came out, we thought, yeah, this is the sequel to Fighting Street, but I wasn't sure until later.
there's something special about seeing the sweetest dude on earth going all in on the hate :D
the slime world bit almost felt like an avgn episode haha
Slime World looks so sluggish they should call it Slug World.
Slime world for genesis with your buddy was great
I was a huge Ranma fan manga Anime OVA I had this game too it was no street fighter or Kof but I loved the game there is a sequel that was supposed to be released it was fully translated to English but the release was cancelled there are roms online of the fully translated game though.
i remember being dissappointed in jersey devil for ps1 lol
You have such an awesome collection but terrible display shelving, you really should consider upgrading your shelves to display your collection
This video coming out is really funny, because I have been playing the PC Engine Todd's Adventures in Slime World via my Analogue Duo and enjoying it. It's not amazing or anything, but it is actually quite competent and fun once you're into it. However, there's no accounting for expectations either.
1. Buys a game called "Slime World"
2. Gets infuriated because its a world full of slime
🤣
I was such a fan of Street Fighter 2, that I bought a copy of Fighting Street for TCCD before I even owned a CD consol. It wouldn’t be until 20 years later that I would get a CD unit.
I see his opinion on Dynamite Dux has improved.
Dux Dux it's all about the DUX!!
Great video as always, Johnny. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. You're always so positive, so it's nice to hear you just let loose on some steaming piles of shit sometimes, lol. My most hated game is Yoshi's Island DS. I grew up playing the original for SNES and it's one of my all-time favorite video games even to this day. Yoshi's Island DS basically took everything that is good about the original in the series, and made it all worse and more boring. It doesn't get a lot of hate so sometimes I have to try and convince people, usually I simply show them the final boss battle for each game and then they immediately understand.
100% agree with you in fighting street. I do love the Ranma 1/2 game though. I had the Japanese game back then and played it to death. As a fan of the show, it was very charming. The music isboretty good too. The english voice samples sre so gross though 😅
I've never played Slime World. I have 400+ games and somehow Slime World isnt one of them but doesnt look like I'm missing much 😛 Great video, Johnny! It was really good to see you at Game On.
I love that a game you hate props up your shelf! XD That's the most passive-aggressive collecting I've ever seen!
Games I hated and paid full price for over the years;
1) The Callisto Protocol
2) Terminator 2 on SNES
3) Ninja Gaiden 3 (both original on NES & the modern trilogy)
4) Advent Rising
5) Aliens vs Predator on SNES
Shame you 'hated' Callisto, I thought it was a solid game. People wanted waaaay too much out of it with it's pedigree, not to mention the terrible timing of launching it right next to Dead Space
Space ace on snes, and a short mention on the first 2 hours of every pokemon game
No way, I remember that street fighter game in the arcade with the punching pads lol. Btw, for someone who loves games and rpgs etc, have you tried Asgards Wrath 2 on the vr Quest 3? Isn't that what we all dreamed of? To be inside the game as the character? Vr is really getting good:)
Back To the Future III for the Mega Drive was a nightmare. My brother and I rented it back in the day just before starting a very long bank holiday...
I remember playing the slime world port on the Genesis and really liking it. That was 20+ yrs ago though, and I think that it was multiplayer(?) with my brother so it could've been nostalgia and worse than I remember. Seems to get good reviews online though, for all that means (often not much).
Hope you and your Family are doing well
I love these videos lol
You should do a series where you make Kim play all your most hated games, and then she rates them on a scale from 1-10.
Hey John if you want a great platformer trilogy try the three Tak and the Power of Juju games on GameCube, Tak 2 the Staff of Dreams is awesome and it has one of the best video game soundtracks ever! A good recommendation for a great CZcamsr
An obscure one but Immercenary for the 3DO comes to mind
Great t-shirt Johnny!
More sad Happy Console Gamer memes pls👌
Happy console gamer back again
Love that Future Cops t shirt.
I have a really difficult time playing Bravely Default II and Super Mario RPG remake.
When AVGN at home turns into AVGN.
