This reminds me of hunts I used to have on Texoma and the red river. Here are things we tried that worked. Use decoys to block and push birds where you want them- rather than attracting them. So put a big raft and spinner on far bank with only 2-3 where you want them to land on your side. Use magnums for these and include 1-2 that look like they are drinking water. Build some type of blind and ditch boat. Great move to sit on marsh seat but you needed more cover there. Pull out your pintails or use them to purposefully flare birds to you. Try a blue heron and more coots. Be careful of too many wigeon drakes and put only 2-3 wigeon with coots. Use 3-5 Canada geese floaters. Use standing decoys/silos on the logs behind you with a loafing family group. Every time ducks came by there was a lot of movement in the boat. Gun barrels were above the blind, hands we’re turning on GoPro, etc. Use teal spinners and paint white side of wings primer grey.

Exactly. No idea how they just sit there and don't try to better conceal the boat. Look at all the natural cover behind them they could use! It's also clear that when the birds weren't seeing them, they wanted to land but decoys weren't right. People can say all they want about a j hook or a U being overused, but at some point you have to make a spot for them to land. Throwing decoys in a line that parallels the shore doesn't usually work all that great. I thought stuff like this was pretty common knowledge.

The low 3-note quack you are hearing when birds come in is an alert. It’s like a doe blowing at you. That’s the most sure fire way you know you’re being seen.

The standard “rule of thumb” has always been brush in and hide yourselves then get even more cover. We hunt a LA NWR using pirogues plus at a minimum 18 tall freshly cut(teal season)palmetto fronds at least 5 ft long and I shot a true black duck that way about 9 years ago, have fooled many a wary azz duck(we at the tail-end of the MS Flyway)and ducks in our neck of de swamp have seen it and heard it ALL🤪

Stale birds are weary of anything. To your east at some very large 🦆 areas I've seen birds that would flare over and over inside the refuge where nobody was hunting.

Did y’all think about just ditching the boat somewhere and hunting from the bank?

As far as you boat blind goes, it looks like it literally needs 10X + more grass on it using darker greyer grass. They see it, then they see you/ you noggin bobb'n around and then they stay away. I have the same netting on my boat blind and you really don't know it's there because of how much camo we have on it. We call'm to the water most times when we're on the river

You talked too much that’s why no ducks for. As a hunter shouldn’t talk too much, you guys should hunt quietly like hunting.
