I have done a fair bit of testing since the RAM upgrade and DCS is definitely making more use of the extra resources now.
in some scenarios, over 51 GB Ram is being used! (Syria, you RAM hog!)
Use open XR Toolkit to throttle FPS until a consistent FPS is experienced in different maps/aircraft is VERY useful and means you can get smooth fps without the blunt instrument that is ASW.
With the extra RAM I noticed LESS consistent FPS with ASW OFF but a better experience with it on (the opposite prior to the RAM upgrade was true) but using Open XR Toolkit to throttle the FPS to remove the highs and lows both gives improved smoothness and a performance boost over using ONLY ASW.

Have not crashed on DCS ever since I'm on 64gb DDR4. Been 3 months.

Just added 32gb more and so far so good! In VR the dcs Mariana mission it swallows half of the 64 already. No fps gain as I've noticed but the sim seems buttery smooth. I should have done this long ago.

@@hueyfoo I doubt there is anything more demanding than flightsims in VR. More is better!

I have been advocating for 64GB of RAM when possible for a while now, especially as DDR4 has dropped in price. Others have been quick to neg me for it, but, it can help. At the very least, when possible, double up your current system RAM. For those that can't afford, if running an SSD, and have the space? Locate swap file in WIndows as a free and quick help (not a long term perm solution) but it can help.

I was always crashing on 4YA project overlord and other servers on my 2nd respawn due to running 32gb, I upgraded to 64gb and never crashed again.

Like to hear more about this ? maybe everyone with 8g or even 16g are losing lots of fps because of RAM.

For me the gains are not immediately obvious in FPS but if you only have 16gb, most missions I run use at least 24 gb abd some, as in the video, over 50gb RAM! That HAS to translate to poorer performance somewhere. I will be getting a new PC in a year or so but upgrading RAM is about the cheapest and best thing you can do along with using nvme m.2 ssds for boot and dcs.
Anyone who is recording streaming or video editing will benefit from more RAM. From experience, 8gb is not enough. 16 gb is adequate but you need at least 32gb and 64gb will get gobbled up by DCS especially in Syria map in multiplayer. Even in single player my PC is using well over 32gb, from 34gb to 52gb depending on map or mission.
In and out of ASW, I get smoother performance especially if I tune my fps with open xr toolkit.

Had 32gb and upgraded to 64gb of the same ram sticks as the 32 with corsair vengeance running at 3600mhz. Made a huge difference in DCS, no more crashes and smoother sim play.

Just got 64GB @3600 for $95. Just picked up Syria map and my 16 couldnt handle it.
