I think you should definitely check out the bass versions of the Sony headphones. They're interesting because they come about 100 dollars cheaper so many people might be interested in it including myself :P
This was a pretty good test. But you didn't make a phone call. That would have been a plus. I keep hearing Bose is great on calls. I'm still stuck on which to buy.
Great review, I own both and for the most part agree with conclusions. I also feel that there are that where not included in these that should of been more beneficial to choosing Bose over the Sonys. First, I am able to use my Bose to make phone calls and sound natural where as for the Sonys I really cant use them for calls at all, because there mics are horrible for phone calls. The other thing that was not tested was multi-pairing which does not exist on the Sony and is one of the reasons I choose the Bose. I can be paired up to 8 devices if I remember correctly and switch from device to device by a touch of a button, I can also literally be paired to two devices at the same time, I can have by the Bose paired to my IPad and phone at the same time, allowing me to take phone calls and hear of any notifications while watching a video on my IPad. I prefer the Bose for those reasons.

Everyone is different if you haven’t already after COVID-19 is all over go to a shop and try both of them out. I’d also recommend trying out the beats studio 3 and the Bose qc35 ii as well

I really liked your comparison approach with your friends' different listening/audiophile tastes. I think my only suggestion is that it would have been helpful to have a have some text below each judge's listening preferences to help give context to their reviews on each test.

I have an older Bose headset, my sound system is Bose also however both of these are older, I think I bought them in 1999 or 2000. The thing with headsets I go for it has to fit as I have a small head and can't stand things slipping all over my head. I also wear glasses and the pressure has to be comfortable as glasses go behind ears and I don't like things that put pressure on my ears. So for me, I'd have to feel the fit first then sound. I need a new set but as long as these still work and feel good I'll stay with what I have. I will say though the Bose headset is more delicate than other headsets I've seen and tried. You do have to be more careful with them believe me. Since I found you on CZcams with your "Dream Computer" being basically the same as mine rig I had to watch you. You have very good content. :) I'll continue to watch.

I have the Sonys I love them. When I use my Fiio Dac they sound incredible. Goosebumps all over. Listen to Sacd rips or Hi Res and the sound is superb.
Nice, intuitive content, 1 and 2 label for each headphone was confusing as you mentioned. A and B in future man! Also maybe a summary chart at the end for each of the tests? As Comfort and noise cancelling are the tow important factors to me I'd pay more attention to those... Points etc.. But really nice video. I liked how you got a mate that represented each of my own crowd! XD was funny and different to other reviews out there! Good job! =]

Nice concept! A minor critique would be to call out the type of reviewer also. Maybe under the music type.. Would be great if you could do this test with the Sennheiser momentum 3's!!
So good. So so good. That's how things should be. Either get a response curve and have an objective review or Have a blind test on variety of demographics. Really appreciate the technique. The 60 something, gradually deafening, 'audiophiles' rambling about their multi thousand dollar speaker cables, power conditioners and what not should be made to retire.

Sorry about the confusion! We were going to stick to A and B but ultimately wanted to prevent the judges from developing a bias towards a dedicated “A” or “B.” This way, we can keep it as blind as possible.
This is just about the best usability review of these I've seen, I wish I would've seen this before going to the store with the intent of coming home with a set of Bose headphones for work. I ended up going to a Best Buy to try them out, and in sound quality, they were actually pretty comparable so the Sony ones, both highlighting slightly different areas. The Bose's were definitely more comfortable on my head, but once I compared the noise canceling in the noisy store, it was all I needed to know - the Sony's completely blew the Bose 700s out of the water. And for comparison, I tried on Bose's QC35 II as well, and I didn't even realize those had the noise canceling turned on (it apparently was on, I had the employees come over and double check...although it was a Best Buy, so who knows) after trying the 700s and the Sony's. If you need the noise canceling, the Sony WH1000XM3 is the only way to go.

People can easily tell if they are wearing Bose or Sony even they are doing a blind test. Those two headphones just feel quite different physically when you put it on.
You’re right - this is why I found friends whove never tried the headphones and didn’t let them see them prior to the test. This way, even if they could tell “oh this is headphone A”, they still wouldn’t be able to tell if that was the Sony or the Bose.
Best review ever, i bought sony last few days, I love it in term of sound quality and base, but after few hours of using its tight on my ears, maybe i just have big ears. Aside from that phone call on it doesn't really seem clear as I tried it few times. overall im happy. Just Hope it was comfier on my ears
Great content, i mean really great. I have just few picks: play a little with contrast and brightness, noise can be remove in Adobe Audition for instance and don´t shrink people just center them. Content wise: You should have way more subscribers
When I was deciding between the 2 it was really close. It was always close because I can get the Bose for $299 via my company discount. But I ended up choosing the Sony's because they feel better on my big ass head and I like a little more bass in my music.

Do this same video idea for phone call quality ... you call the four friends ... and ask which phone call your voice sounds better with ... again, they don’t know which headphones you’re speaking to them with ... then return to ask the same question, which headphones overall are best with the phone call voice quality factored into the mix ... and see if any change their minds for overall ...
The Bose is king for call quality. Sony is pretty good, everyone can hear me perfectly. They pick up every little noise though where the Bose is more clear as far as talking and listening. Sony is worth the $350, I would NEVER recommend the Bose.
Agreed that wired do sound great, but I've listened to good IEMs and good headphones...headphones > IEMs. wired headphones > wired IEMS > wireless headphones > wireless IEMs
Nicely done, thanks. I'm a Bose Fan and prefer the Bose QC35 over the Sony XM3's (did a video on it) but I am not a fan of the NC700. They are pretty much the same as the QC35 (bought them and tried them) only more expensive. $400? I think not. Not only do they charge more but they took away the feature to share audio between two Bose headphones . . . . no thank you.
Blind is a bit difficult, if at Bose the earpiece has a lot of space for the ears, whereas at Sony the earpiece would have extremely little space for the ears and have a lot of warm inner lining, you can immediately tell which headphones are on when you put the two on.
Not if you don't know which headphone you have on from the beginning. Like if you've never worn or touched the headphones, how would you know which you have on? You can distinguish one headphone from the other, sure, but you wouldn't be able to know if it was the sony or the bose if you've never tried them before
Should I get the sony's? I don't need good call quality and also dont like the design of the bose, but people are saying the sony sound bad, I need decent bass and good clarity (Watching videos, movies and listening to music -> rap, hip hop) The bose are 20$ more expensive than the sony's here in germany. Great video btw, you can see, that everyone has a different taste.
That's an awesome video. Wish you replaced the Bose 700 with something better sounding ( PXC 550) QC35 was not bad, but this thing sounds really bad for the price.
I notice casual listener has ears that stick out a bit (because mine so I kinda looked for it). I'm wondering if the depth of the cups is a factor in his choice of headphones.
Great review! Would have liked to see the two glasses-wearers try the headphones with them on, though. I don't generally like to remove my glasses to listen to music(!) but my old headphones are so uncomfortable with glasses, I'm always after info on what it might feel like (and if it affects the sound, at all) when researching new ones.
@@Ahnestly I've got a very old pair of Panasonic RP-HTX7s - cheap, but well-reviewed at the time. They've never been especially comfortable, though, they're falling apart now, and I want something noise-cancelling! Seeing your side by side comparison of the two I've been considering has been really useful.
I have non wireless sennheisers and I wear glasses all the time. No glass discomfort with those. I think more modern headphones accommodate for glass wearers a little better! I can't recall how these felt on my head though
For me BOSE was a clear winner just because of simultaneous dual device connectivity. Sony doesnt have that yet. I use two devices simultaneously meaning disconnecting one to listen another wouldn't work. Now, I pause device 1 and my music plays from device 2, I pause device 2 and my music plays from device 1.
I tried both Bose and Sony. Sony is definitely better in noise cancelling, and it sounds better when comparing to Bose. I bought Sony 1000XM3 for 349 a month before the black Friday. Now it is only 279....
@@abhinavrishi8031 Bose is more expensive than Sony 1000XM3. In my opinion, Sony has better noise cancelling and sound quality. Bose 700 got Bluetooth 5.0 so it has longer operating range. I would say depend on what you need
had QC35, now 700, not sure why would say it doesnt show, or uncomfortable. Mine works easily between Ipad pro to iphone 11 pro. And i love the isolation to calls to music

When I was deciding between the 2 it was really close. It was always close because I can get the Bose for $299 via my company discount. But I ended up choosing the Sony's because they feel better on my big ass head and I like a little more bass in my music.

Do this same video idea for phone call quality ... you call the four friends ... and ask which phone call your voice sounds better with ... again, they don’t know which headphones you’re speaking to them with ... then return to ask the same question, which headphones overall are best with the phone call voice quality factored into the mix ... and see if any change their minds for overall ...
Oh ... and make sure there’s some noise in the background ... like a coffee shop, or traffic on a busy street or something ...
The Bose is king for call quality. Sony is pretty good, everyone can hear me perfectly. They pick up every little noise though where the Bose is more clear as far as talking and listening. Sony is worth the $350, I would NEVER recommend the Bose.

If you want top notch quality sound with sound insulation ... buy an in -ear from Shure. All wireless H phones are < wired H phones
Agreed that wired do sound great, but I've listened to good IEMs and good headphones...headphones > IEMs.
wired headphones > wired IEMS > wireless headphones > wireless IEMs
Nicely done, thanks. I'm a Bose Fan and prefer the Bose QC35 over the Sony XM3's (did a video on it) but I am not a fan of the NC700. They are pretty much the same as the QC35 (bought them and tried them) only more expensive. $400? I think not. Not only do they charge more but they took away the feature to share audio between two Bose headphones . . . . no thank you.

Blind is a bit difficult, if at Bose the earpiece has a lot of space for the ears, whereas at Sony the earpiece would have extremely little space for the ears and have a lot of warm inner lining, you can immediately tell which headphones are on when you put the two on.
Not if you don't know which headphone you have on from the beginning. Like if you've never worn or touched the headphones, how would you know which you have on? You can distinguish one headphone from the other, sure, but you wouldn't be able to know if it was the sony or the bose if you've never tried them before
Should I get the sony's? I don't need good call quality and also dont like the design of the bose, but people are saying the sony sound bad, I need decent bass and good clarity (Watching videos, movies and listening to music -> rap, hip hop)
The bose are 20$ more expensive than the sony's here in germany.
Great video btw, you can see, that everyone has a different taste.
I don't think you'll be disappointed if you get the sonys! They are great in most areas

I have the Sony WH-1000XM3. They are up there with the best of the best.
But did you try the Bose ones?
I notice casual listener has ears that stick out a bit (because mine so I kinda looked for it). I'm wondering if the depth of the cups is a factor in his choice of headphones.
It's been a while since we did this, so I don't think he remembers, but if it was a big factor, I know he would have mentioned it

Great review! Would have liked to see the two glasses-wearers try the headphones with them on, though. I don't generally like to remove my glasses to listen to music(!) but my old headphones are so uncomfortable with glasses, I'm always after info on what it might feel like (and if it affects the sound, at all) when researching new ones.

@@Ahnestly I've got a very old pair of Panasonic RP-HTX7s - cheap, but well-reviewed at the time. They've never been especially comfortable, though, they're falling apart now, and I want something noise-cancelling! Seeing your side by side comparison of the two I've been considering has been really useful.
I have non wireless sennheisers and I wear glasses all the time. No glass discomfort with those. I think more modern headphones accommodate for glass wearers a little better! I can't recall how these felt on my head though

For me BOSE was a clear winner just because of simultaneous dual device connectivity. Sony doesnt have that yet. I use two devices simultaneously meaning disconnecting one to listen another wouldn't work. Now, I pause device 1 and my music plays from device 2, I pause device 2 and my music plays from device 1.

I tried both Bose and Sony. Sony is definitely better in noise cancelling, and it sounds better when comparing to Bose. I bought Sony 1000XM3 for 349 a month before the black Friday. Now it is only 279....
So, in the end, you would recommend Sony, over bose 700 right? I can't decide between the two, Haha.
@@abhinavrishi8031 Bose is more expensive than Sony 1000XM3. In my opinion, Sony has better noise cancelling and sound quality. Bose 700 got Bluetooth 5.0 so it has longer operating range. I would say depend on what you need

had QC35, now 700, not sure why would say it doesnt show, or uncomfortable. Mine works easily between Ipad pro to iphone 11 pro. And i love the isolation to calls to music
