Just a reminder to everyone, LADYBUGS LOVE APHIDS and will eat thousands of them in a day! You can purchase ladybugs and have them shipped to your door. They come in a little mesh bag, dump them on your plants and let them go to work!

Wow…the timing of this vlog couldn’t be better. Hearing Shawn explain why the infestation occurred, I immediately checked my radishes and turnips, and I had the same problem, though mine not to the point of wilting or an off scent. Sooo, I had to pull up ALL of the 12x3 foot bed, even though a lot of the radishes and most of turnips very small. Oh well, learned a valuable lesson in my classroom today. Unfortunately, I had planted 4 cabbage and 2 broccoli and cauliflower right next to them, and there is some infestation. I’ll be neem oiling those tomorrow and all the other ones too. Also, there were tons of aphids on the soil after I pulled the root crop. Do I need to spray the soil there also? I am so thankful for this vlog today. Thanks Jill and Shawn

I love roasted radishes, but around here I actually plant them for the leaves more than the roots. The leaves have more nutritional value than the roots, so its like getting 2 crops for the effort of 1. We use the greens like you would spinach or chard and when we have a large harvest of greens that we won't use all of it before it goes bad, we dehydrate or freeze dry the leaves and powder them to add to soups, sauces, stews, etc to pump up the nutrition. Shame you didn't have another option to deal with the aphids but I understand needing to get them out for good.
