Omni-man started off as a heartless, ruthless conqueror when he first came to Earth undercover. He never lost the ruthless part, but in the midst of those 17 years he unwittingly gained a heart, kind of like the tin man of Oz. And Nolan just didn’t realize how much he had changed until it was too late. He tried denying that he was a different person

@@emme As brutal as Nolan was. Compared to the rest of the viltrumites he’s a softie. This was basically just him having an emotional breakdown. He’s been under the viltrumite empire for over hundreds of years, those many years of influence can’t just be easily overlooked, and yet he still let his son grow up as a human.

3:40 It's more so, He didn't want Mark to have powers, that's why he was mad in the first episode
Had Mark not gotten powers, he would have waited for him and Debbie to die off before starting his conquest

  • @MontgomeryWenis

In the previous episode, Cecil mentioned they were 60 miles outside of Chicago. Nolan punched Mark so hard, he traveled 60 MILES and was STILL moving fast enough to bullet through multiple buildings AND plow a massive trench in the street several blocks long.
No one seems to _actually_ comprehend how unbelievable that single punch really is.

    • @CraZeKllutchy
      @CraZeKllutchy Před měsícem +3

Also another note related to this, when Nolan says "Did seeing that man lose his life disturb you? Let's see how you handle 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴!", he likely wasn't referring to the punch itself, but rather the emotional impact it would have on Mark to be used as a weapon to kill innocent people.
Could also just be a double meaning, the physical side of the punch and the emotional side. Either way, interesting detail.

@@CraZeKllutchy Nah you're totally right. The line sounds like it does just refer to the pain of the punch, but it's absolutely clear he also means using Mark as a murder instrument when he holds him up to the train. But he confirms it again right afterwards when he asks about the train passengers.

I know it's just a "cartoon". I know it's a super hero thing. But... Real proud that you kept your eyes open as much as you did. It really felt like this got to you a little bit. This episode is A LOT and no shade on anyone who might say "Alright... This WAS fun but now I can't continue".
So many gut punches, literally and figuratively. But it just illustrates how much connection we have made to Mark and the supporting cast. Cecil shines as the lying schemer who was out-schemed and is trying to limit the damage. Debbie's world crashing down is devastating to think about. Omni-Man is a flying natural disaster and seemingly just as immune to human suffering... And speaking of suffering poor Mark. The things he is forced to experience are soul crushing... And spine crushing.
I am an old school comic fan and for me this is a highly textured super hero universe that doesn't pull punches and has crafted a compelling group of characters and a strongly mature vibe but even in tragedy it still showcases heroism. Mark, the Guardians, Debbie, Eve... All flawed people who still find ways to do good and stand by principle to a very large degree. That doesn't mean they remain unscathed though and it's the inclusion of real consequences to the characters that makes this work so well dramatically.
I would say a successful completion of this season. I hope you choose to cover season two sooner than later.
    PS... PLEASE Watch FARSCAPE. 😢
It's like FIREFLY but multiple seasons.
    😂

I'm sure someone has clarified it before but those cyborgs that crazy scientist was working on were all dead soldiers reanimated. The college boys he was experimenting on are not them. You can tell the difference 'cause they had faces and...lips, while the other, newer versions don't. Cecil said they were dead soldiers serving their country one more time. They're basically like cyborg zombies.

You can't expect that type of programming to fade away bc of a short what, 20 yrs or so on earth. Look at how zealous ppl are today whether it's global warming or politics..now think how dug in they would be in there thinking if they lived 1000 yrs or more, now think about if someone said, ok you got less than 2 mins to change there mind.

Kind of a cool facet of Mark's overarching story is the way he combats evil is by enduring it, taking a beating rather than punching it until it stops being a problem. From dealing with the guy harassing Amber in the beginning, to appealing to his father's tiny shred of compassion at the end. He was never going to beat Nolan by force, he was trying to limit the destruction and collateral and wait him out. It's also why Nolan attacked Mark's compassion, tried to undercut his greatest strength
