The gun that shot the "baby doll foot" is from the game. its called a Junk Jet and pretty much any garbage could be used as ammo.

Death by teddy bear is the best. Always roll up with like 50 of them in my inventory.
What blows me away is that ALL of the games are seeing a show bump, and not just from former players, theyre picking up NEW players who have never played any Fallout title before.
FO4 just dropped a bunch of new content yesterday too!
Witcher got bumps to every game too. As the "curse" is put to bed I think we'll see a lot more game adaptations because their budgets won't just be calculated based on profitability for the show but the value they add to the IP.

Pudgey is the first person i've seen acknowledge how terrified the tiny little girl is in the intro scene, that haunting expression is what makes the entire sequence work IMO
That child actress was really, really good.
Yeah she was amazing, she is definitely a child actor to watch for her future career. If she is this good now, I can't imagine how amazing she will be in 10-15 years. I really hope they bring her back in the next season or to, with a story about her being kidnapped by the enclave or something like that, similar to the story for Fallout 4 (with The Child).
pudgey's an empath for sure she has great emotional intelligence, shes really good at spotting someones expressions, vibe, feelings..
thay kid and goggins were fantastic in that scene her expression and how she was breathing fast and him slack jawed really sold the scene
@@vkdeen7570 Yeah you gotta remember that, realistically, a nuclear war is the ultimate fear, because unlike say, climate change, it's instant annihilation. Even though she's standing right next to the powerhouse that is Walton Goggins, she sells that just as well as him
I have seen reaction videos in which grown men were almost reduced to tears by the line, "Is it your thumb . . . or mine?" I could relate. The line is perfectly crafted and perfectly delivered, and her terror and incomprehension were palpable.

This is definitely one of those adaptations that you dont have to know anything about the games to enjoy it

That canon at the end is a “Junk Jet” or “Rock-It Launcher”. In the games, it lets you load literally any garbage you can find as ammo- coffee cups, forks, stuffed bears, etc.

The Brotherhood are the remnants of the United States Army. The Enclave is the (greatly diminished) remnant of the United States federal government. The Brotherhood of Steel, the Enclave, and the New California Republic do not get along with each other in the games.
No spoilers but here in Austin at the SXSW festival there was a promo real wasteland village Filly mockup you could tour. Complete with real Nuka Cola and Fallout gear and actors wearing PipBoys. I even got a Vault33 pin. Lots of fun. You can look it up online.

Already watched the whole season 1, glad you enjoyed it. Having played Fallout for many years this show nails it! Such a great show, looking forward to the both of you going through this season.
Spartan I think hits the nail on the head with one of the reasons the show is so good. The show really knows how to thread that needle between being being goofy and serious.
Patrolling the Fallout TV series almost makes you wish for season 2.
the fallout games is not typical game... the game really rewards you when you go exploring, theres building with environmental story telling, notes you find where you can start a new quest, computer terminal with old document painting a picture what happen there and many more. You spend countless hours equipping your character with weapon and skill to explore the wasteland... the thing is the game doesnt tell you to do this but the player need a sense of curiosity to learn what happen to this wasteland
this is what missing from new fallout player that used to play modern games that handhold entire game... fallout games just put you in a open world where you free to go anywhere but make sure you are equip for it because everything can kill you.

Finally, a show that stays true to the games instead of changing things for realisms sake. As soon as I saw a stimpak being used to heal a stab wound (big needle Lucy used after the stabbing scene), I was sold. Lol.
I have watched a bunch of reactions to this first episode and you are the first ones to notice that when Maximus is being branded, they offer him a piece of leather to bite down on and he declines it.
Maximus got the END/STR build with the Idiot Savant perk 😅

Been a Fallout fan since playing the first one back in '97. If they continue honoring the source material like they have I hope this series is a blockbuster. Unlike Halo: Master Cheeks.

This made my day. As a connoisseur of the games (1k hours on 4 alone) the series is superb and it feels right.

The Ghoul is my absolute favorite character in this show. Ive never played the game. I knew nothing about it. But I absolutely love this damn show. Walton Goggins plays the Ghoul to perfection.
If I had $100 bill for every "oh shit" my rent would be payed for a couple of months.

A ghoul is in traditional fantasy an undead creature, similar to zombies. In fallout they're not undead, just more like mutants.

As a Fallout fan for decades, I gotta say, this one impressed me. It has some rough edges and a few lore changes that are head scratchers (ghouls needing meds is new, but honestly, I don't hate it as a plot device), but it was fun to watch and that's more than I can say for most adaptations of franchises I like. Plus Walton Goggins is a goddamned legend in everything.

I think you guys are really going to enjoy this. I finished it last night overall very impressed. It took me until episode 3 to really settle into the world/the show finds its voice, but it’s great.
Not sure why Spartan thinks the wedding was fucked up, he's seen GoT. It had way more than three deaths so it was a big success.

Im sure others have said it. But the show doesnt directly follow any story from any of the games. It is independent but its using the same lore.
Also for whatever reason even though the universe takes place in the future it is stuck in a 1950s aesthetic. Thats why the music thats used is the old style 50s music. In the games there is always a radio station that constantly plays 50s era music, and this show is using those songs. Which as a huuuuge fan of the games i absolutely adore. I started with Fallout 3 when i was only 12 and i have since always had a love for that era of music. It actually allowed me to bond with my grandma cuz she knew a lot of the songs!
The Enclave is made up of the original remnants of the Government that survived the Fallout. There's also the Institute,The Brotherhood of Steal, New California Republic, and RailRoad.
If you play they games you'll learn a lot of lore of the world. The Fallout 4 intro explains what kind of world your seeing.
The Brotherhood of Steel are former U.S. military.
The Enclave are former Rich and U.S. Politicians.
Many more factions. Non of them are really "good guys".
Lots of technology.
To make a point, there are rarely any instances of needing to know the games to understand something in this show. If you don't understand something, there's a good chance it'll be explained. This series isn't based off of any specific game, it's a unique story for now (with some easter eggs for the fans of the game).
Love it! The Fallout show completely understands the atmosphere of the games. Along with all the zillions of props, pieces, sets, and background elements that Fallout fans recognize and love, the show perfectly understands the grit, violence, humor, satire, over the top propaganda, eccentric personalities and chaos of the _feel_ of Fallout. Think of it as an alternate-history version of the world with a 1950s/60s Americana vision of a sci-fi future in which the American political view of the "fear" of Communists and nuclear war set against backdrop of wildly unregulated capitalism *is dialed up to 11.* A beautifully absurdist vision, near-perfectly adapted for the screen from the Fallout series of games that first came out in the 1990s. Bethesda Games Studio and the production team alongside Jon Nolan and Lisa Joy did an insanely good job with the show, and all the performances are just _

Quick comment about Vaults...
In the game, there aren't any interconnected vaults (that's a new thing for the show). When Lucy is leaving the vault it goes so far down just because all the vaults were deep underground (or inside mountains).
I think an interconnected vault that thinks it’s separate vaults would be a good Vault-Tec experiment tbf

The cast is great the sets are well done And what defines Fallout for me, the level of violence and the inappropriate humor, was captured perfectly.
And if you know the games you know almost every vault is unique and something terrible is happening (or happened or will happen) in the background.

15:58 that’s called a Stimpak, Stimpaks are basically shots filled with a mixture of healing agents, stimulants, antiseptic, blood, and steel, they’re fully capable of healing all to some physical injures (I say all to some because some injures require more than one Stimpak.) these are one of many chems, short for chemicals, you can find…these various chems include Mentats, a pre-War "party-drug" originally developed by Med-Tek, an in game company, for medical purposes, Buffout, a "sports-enhancement" drug popularized by pre-war athletes, Psycho, a combat-enhancement drug developed at the behest of General Chase, that’s something that happens post-war, Med-X, a painkiller found in many hospitals in game, and Rad-X, a preventive medication to be taken before exposure to radiation, when you take Rad-X in game it reduces the total amount of radiation you receive and bolsters your body’s own Radiation Resistance.

I've seen 4 (and played none) and my son has seen it all (and played a few). He played the game SOME but felt impatient, as he was in high school and got irritated with the narration between play, so he'd skip it and feel lost. But we agreed it was really well done. I particularly liked that the graphic stuff wasn't particularly realistic... easier to watch. I love alternative histories (and recommend Man in the High Castle for a more realistic version of that genre)

This is one of the of if not THE best game adaptation that I've seen. It's incredible that Lucy's actress is also the voice of Jinx, another "adaptation" that did so well. I think what helped, in Fallout's case, is that the series is only happening in the world of the games and not a direct adaptation of ONE game 😃👍

Yeah the interesting part of Fallout, to me at least, is the 50s vibe mixed with the Technology
I think you guys are the first I've seen that don't know that Fallout is about nuclear bombs ending the world. And the word "fallout" refers to nuclear fallout, or the radiation that blankets the land after the nuclear bomb detonates. They live in vaults underground for 200+ years because the surface is now a nuclear wasteland. Fallout is an alternate timeline where the culture is very much the 1950's USA, but the technology they developed is all from nuclear power.
