0:32 ‘SL... without the E’ something about that was funny 😄
The batt going back up when you stop is due to battery sag, where the load on the batt causes it to show lower, given a rest the batt will recover a bit.
this channel is actually so underrated, its easy to see the effort and passion you put into these videos. Keep it up and you'll go far (not on that e bike though 🤣🤣🤣)
haha, thank you so much Gabriel, very kind of you :)
About 15 km. But you can buy a second battery on EBay and double your range.
13:46 That mate being Dave Ryding by any chance? He’s an absolute legend - big fan of his!
just for your information, in singapore, we had the privilege of using these for awhile and eventually it was banned as it was upgraded to be able to ride at speeds of up to 100km/h!! its very dangerous
I can't be only one who saw him take it out of the box and think: you bought a kids bike by accident 😂
If mine was not defective it is a cool bike.
No because can see the bike before you start the video
@@scottrocks1993 yeah I know right, literally the whole reason the majority of us clicked to watch this video to start with was because we see the tiny bike in the thumbnail. The shit people come out with for the tiniest bit of attention.
geeko46 kids laugh and point as he whizzes past !
Where's the stabilizers??
Cool idea on what to with the bike: throw it off Beachy Head and see how fast it can really go.
Seems like an ideal commuter bike - ride to station, take train, then ride to work (if anyone ever goes back to offices!).
Relatively new to this channel and love the content. Inspired me to get back out on my road bike for the first time in three years. 👍
Nice little bike. With the peddles, it's harder to support yourself when going over bumps. The pegs, work better, which are on other models. If you get a spring support for your seat post, (the simple u shaped spring works great), the ride will be much better, and comfortable over bumps.
I have a similar ebike - the Fiido D1. I really rate it - it was a real boon when recovering from surgery. It has a longer seatpost than yours and the ride position is quite similar to a Brompton. Perhaps a longer seat post for yours will give it more utility? I regularly do shopping trips in a hilly area when I can't be bothered to ride my normal bike.
The batteries of these items tend to be of high fire risk, try not to charge them overnight or unattended as there have been several fires in HDBs here in Singapore as a result of the batteries exploding/catching fire. Also they used to be ubiquitous in Singapore, especially among food delivery riders until the Govt banned them.
I have me one of these it's great fun I have changed the front chain ring too a 52 tooth one and if you hold the left brake lever as you power on it should unlock the 25km speed limit too the max the motor can handle
Hey! My dad did your carpets for your house! They look nice!! Another great vid cam!! Keep the content coming!! My dad was Gordon!! 😀👍🏼
thanks mate!!
11:45 I can't believe you take your phone on a ride with that little charge 😂
XD just seen it
Excellent review, and very surprising results,You obviously live on the edge of the countryside as I do in Newark thanks again.
Ride up Alpe D'Huez 🤣
It's gotta be done !
GREAT IDEA!
Bump the battery and controller up to 48/52 volts just to see how it runs.
a pretty thorough review; thanks. Seems like it would be OK for use in a big city with smooth pavement, going a few miles at a time here and there. A seat post extension might help, but then the bars would force you to lean forward more.
All compormises in the name of portability; got to be able to drag it up a couple flights of stairs now and then...
Cam for Team Ineos next year? Now that Froome is leaving it will free up some salary space.
hahaha

Haven’t watched it yet but already know it’s going to be a sick video 💪🔥 keep up the great work cam
I know someone who has one of these, but replaced the drivetrain with some pegs just to put his feet on. He only uses it for short journeys so no need to pedal. And keep the seat low so looks pretty G.
There’s literally an ebike for £270 on amazon and the cheapest one with peddles is £320
Cycled past Boskins yesterday, nice to know it is now open. Looks like you went past the Eagle and Child at Bispham as well.....
Over 100k subs Cam, great to see you doing so well
Try motorpacing up a climb! If it can hold that speed uphill...
This bike would be amazing for around town and even little cycling out into the country if it had even just 3 gears low/mid/high.
But honestly if you you work and need to get around a major city that bike is perfect, if only the seat could go abit higher.
I have seen reviews on CZcams where people have fitted longer seat posts, and some with suspension seat posts, this would probably improve the comfort at a minimum price.
Are those wooden doorknobs at 10:45?
Seems good for short trips where you don't want to get sweaty, or for a non-riding friend to ride with you.
You gotta ride the three hills or some such with it.
Range is impressive for something that looks like a small exercise bike :) The only question at this price is how long before the cheap battery range drops massively.... 6 month update ?
did think this whilst i was editing it tbf!
You can get a new battery for pretty damn cheap too though.
4nlimited3dition I’m finna get this bike and use it I live in a small town over from the main town and I want to use this instead of my moutaim bike in which I’m beat after like 8 miles so yea and if the battery get low and drops bad I’m finna just get a new one put it in and yea
@@rymeergocrazy5312 and did you bought it? Like how is the battery life rn?
@@user-hj7hj1bo8l I recommend it’s a okay bike but I recommend getting the ancheer e bike get the 500 one I think it is the cheapest ancheer mountain bike works great batter is good also the little one is okay to start but it’s small and shouldn’t be used for far but the ancheer is great for first ones and yea I’m get a upgrade from the ancheer idk like Christmas or something because my little brother needs one but yea those I recommend this little one should be for like a kid little kid you know
Sadly in germany you need a license and insurance to drive those type of bikes,
the only ones considered bikes are Pedelec, “Assisted Pedaling Bikes”
In US it is sold as Jetson Bolt Pro with 350W 6amph battery. Slight different detail. Sale at Costco $279. Box says designed in Brooklyn and built in Shenzhen.
You should upgrade the brakes to a cheap MTB hydraulic breaks for better stopping power. Keep up the good work, love watching your videos.👍👍
Thoroughly enjoyed the video Cam, very entertaining. Keep it up, peace! ✌🏻
Was not expecting it to make the 50km, Very surprised!!
Great cool bike for the money, just waiting for the non pedal version to arrive from Amazon even cheaper, will have to keep an eye on range as dont want to push it home !! honest video thanks for the upload
Hey Cam, I strongly recommend to keep the battery or the bike as a whole outside whilst charging, and don't charge while your not at home (or asleep for that matter). We have had a lot of problems with chinese battery packs for e-bikes, (overheating, melting and a few fires even) at our bikeshop. So just a little heads up!
ohh thanks for that mate. I'll make sure I dont :)
I would be curious if you could do a "parts bin upgrade" on this bike like Seth's bike hacks did once! I know putting more money into it may not seem like the greatest idea, but I'd be curious if you could get new brakes, new seat, etc and make it a better overall riding experience!
Illegal to use on UK roads so you'd think Amazon would be prevented from selling them here. However I have to say super impressed with that range. I was expecting a range of about 15km unassisted with 50km only possible by pedalling and using the lightest assist mode. Seems to have decent cell batteries in it.
One negative is those tyres won't last long if you use the bike a lot. Small tyres means more frequent replacement and those are very small. They look like they have fitted good quality CST tyres though.
Many people use a mains socket timer to prevent the battery charger being live for an extended time. Many charge overnight and if there is a fault in the charger or battery circuit such batteries can explode and cause house fires so if the battery takes 5 hours to charge its sensible to limit power the charger to that time. Also charging fully can reduce the life expectancy of the battery cells so some people might charge for 4 1/2 hours to maximise battery lifespan. The reason I mention it as that bike clearly is not certified to sell in the UK and without certification we do not know if the circuitry is safe. Electronic circuits can be designed so that if they fail they do not cause additional damage to the product or cause a safety hazard or they can be made as cheaply as possible using lower grade electronic components in a more simple circuit.
To make that bike legal for UK roads you only have to fit a crank sensor of some sort so the throttle only works when the crankset is rotating. Really it should have come like that and maybe some dyu ebikes come that way.
It would be useful to know your weight and height so people can work out if they will look more or less ridiculous on the bike than you plus get some idea of range. If the bike is 18kg and you are 62kg then you could say the bike will transport 80kg for 45km unassisted so perhaps someone small who is 42kg i.e. 60kg total weight would get 60km or someone who is 102kg so 120kg total would only get 30km unassisted. Obviously that is very simplistic as the higher the current output the less efficient the battery so its more like the lighter person gets 70km and the heavier rider gets 20km but people can get a rough idea what to expect.
No is not ....
Bet your fun at a party lol
A bike with a throttle is classed as a moped.
It'd be no fun to get into trouble about the lack of MOT, insurance and tax on it...
It is dodgy that Amazon are selling these, ebikes which are UK legal aren't much different in price (though finding anything in stock at the moment would be the tricky bit).
@@ThomasRedstone Indeed. Only pedal assisted electric bikes are legal in the UK, and 'The bike must not be able to power itself over 15mph.'
I have been riding ebike for 3 years now and I have a throttle lol such a pumpum man
I just got the N. American version (Jetson Bolt Pro) from Costco (CAD $450 + eco fee). The version I got also has a twist throttle, but there is no bluetooth connection or display, and the battery level is indicated via 5 LED light indicator. I'm only around 150 cm tall, so the seat height was fine for me but I was surprised at how fun and easy to ride it is. I haven't ridden a bike for a couple decades, but this bike may actually get me to ride a bit more instead of taking the car. Another thing I like, other than the price and portability, was the modification capability. There are YT videos of people customizing their bikes, to suit their needs and comfort, which is great. Yeah, you can get a full-sized ebike with what you need and want for the price of this bike plus mods, but the stand-out is still that you can throw it in the trunk of a sedan or maybe even a hatchback and take it with you.
Great to have u back Cam 🤙
Also I can tell how much you love that horn! The cheeky grin on your face after using the horn 😂🤣😂
Glad you’re well mate. Awesome as always. Hopefully see you soon in London Town
I hope so too!
@@Cameron_Jeffers do you have the link for the bike?
European plug can work un the UK, just press the earth bit with a cotton bug to open the flaps for the main plug: it will slide in easily
Or how about you don't stick shit in too the sockets even if it is just a cotton bud because younger people may view this and think that because you said cotton bud that you just said it because it is long and thin and that any long and thin thing they find should work. So how about just buy an adapter for 2pounds which you can easily find in pound stores and such.
Never been this early before. So far I can tell: nice intro xD
Edit: This bike looks alot like the electric bikes that are beeing used in chinese citys where they banned bigger electric scooters. Not getting hit by one of them certainly comes as a challenge
Battery meters use battery voltage to determine capacity remaining. Under load the voltage drops lower and lower the more you ride thus the bars going down. When you stop, the battery is not loaded and the voltage bumps up a bit which will make the meter jump up. The meter when the bike is under load is the more accurate measurement.
So if you use you're wahoo( i have the element bolt) you're wahoo send you're ride to strava. But do you need to be connected with you're phone during the ride ore can you let you're phone at home ?
Gotta be “take the crappy ebike up Alpe d’huez” surely? 😂
Impossible. I tried riding a folding bike (quite good ones, my parents holiday rides) up a mountain, simply impossible. You cannot generate power due to the geometry.
I have a 25 year old DiBlassi R7 which is a folding moped. (Top speed new 24.5mph with some Italian lightweight skinny super model riding it.) Its off the road at the moment but when lockdown is over and its running you can do some sort race with it. Either distance on a charge / full tank or can you race it on your road bike. I need to find some fun uses for it.
Great video as always mate!
Here in the Philippines they sell DYU D2F(with pedal) ebikes 24,000 or 1064.55 in US dollors.
Try installing a suspension seatpost?....What material are the bars?..Thinking a wider alloy bar if the one on it is steel.Maybe see if you could fit a small cassette(freehub) and a rear mech?..Or maybe a larger front ring?...new chainset?..longer for better power?....Just try to upgrade it..make it worth riding.
Buy a second one cut everything off in front of the seat post to weld them back on to one rear half making a reverse trike with two batteries
Think the seat post has a telescopic piece. Unscrew the the round clasp by hand and it looks like it extends another 6 inches or so.
You have got to try modding this! See if you can get the top speed any higher; bigger wheels, better gear ratio etc...
yesss 100%
See people at the station hopping on them to do do a few miles across town they take up no space on the train and at 400notes pay for themselves in no time if taxis twice a day is the alternative. Probably quicker through city traffic as well.
As you say flitting a few miles to the shops etc is what they're really for. Nice vid, mate
I got a couple of similar bikes, has saved me alot.
Hi Cameron,
Really nice video, thanks. I'm thinking of buying one for my wife. May I ask how tall are you? Sorry if I miss this piece of information if you already give it in the video.
Cheers,
Jingyu
50km at full power ain't that bad really. now you just need to hack it to make it go 25 mph rather than 25 kph!
Can you get more suitable bits from your old bikes and upgrade this bike? With dual control throttle, may be you could fit a TT handle bar, slick tyres, better chainring etc. and see how fast you could get it to go..
Great content. Nasty bike. Was expecting 50km only with you peddling along so it did pretty well!
You and me both!
Add a 1500 W front hub motor wheel with a second voltage controller and battery. Best to get the brakes first.
Questioned I have the same bike I'm trying to replace back wheel tire is there a special way to take back tire off?
Good to have you back Cam
thanks darrell
Interesting but my budget doesn't require I go cheapest but I do have a limit around a 1000 dollars. Optimum would be a bit less. Is there a good if not great option?
Nice one Cam. Halfords do a cheaper ebike range with normal size bikes. Halfords should get you to give an unbiased test.
Still in the beginning of the video posting this. I’m curious to know the weight on that thing. I have a salsa journeyman Claris with flat bars and the bike is about 27 lbs 5 oz or 12.8 kg. Slapped a bafang kit on it and the thing weighs about double that. Still feels really light to me. Especially compared to my girlfriends temporary bike.
I got the Jetson Bolt Pro for $300 USD this week and they're basically 95% the same.
There are some bikes on Walmart right now by camping survivals electric bikes that sells for 300/900 dollars(discounted from 900 to 300)
Yet again another great video Cam, keep it up 👍
Yes mate! Thanks
Deffo take it up a decent hill climb .. some where like Winnats Pass 🤣🤣
The build is identical to the Jetson Bolt Pro, which I thought was a unique "cheap" e-bike, but I guess it isn't. The only thing is, DYU didn't skimp out on the horn and Bluetooth connection.
I love the excitement over the horn! 👍😁👍
You should try to review or thoroughly ride and experience the Hummingbird (folding) Electric Bike, it's an incredible thing
Noted!
Hi! Can you please tell me what it is about the Hummingbird you think is amazing? Cheers!
Aren't those bikes illegal in the UK? You're not allowed to have a twist throttle if I'm not mistaken; pedal-assist only. I don't care, personally, but it's perhaps something that should be pointed out to prospective buyers. I might be out-dated as I've no interest in e-bikes yet as my legs still work normally...I would add, however, that if twist throttles are allowed to propel you to above 3.7mph then the vehicle requires type-approval and is a moped. You'd therefore need a Cat A licence and/or CBT and L-Plates and third party insurance along with, obviously, a registration plate. No longer a cheap toy, just an expensive way to damage your driver's licence.
Great vid! Love that horn
Thanks!
Just what I need to chase the kids around the bike track when I don't feel like pedalling. That horn is epic. Sadly in Aus this thing is over 2000gbp
I bought a full size E trekking bike (road / mountain cross). 28 inch wheels, 21 inch frame. 24 gears. €1000. Battery sits on top of the rear wheel under the rear carrier frame so it looks like a normal bike. Also can be ridden as a normal bike. Good bargains are out there. I ride about 80Km between charges. Not bad considering I'm a big fat guy and need to up and down hills where ever I go. Down side it weighs 27 Kg Battery weighs 3 Kg. I know it is not legal to have a non peddling E bike in Germany. Is the UK different?
Sold out , however this appears to be the Jetson Bolt Pro, sold by Costco for $300 online.
Nice video mate. ITS GOT A HORN pmsl. Pop a petrol strimmer engine on it.
Could you add little pop-ups for Canadians and Americans?
Example: Pounds to CAD or US Dollars, Kilos to pounds, etc.
🤣🤣 the 'bell' kills me, class this 👌🏻
haha thanks lee mate
To be fair for what it is it actually looks pretty sick, if you wanna cruise down a beach promenade one afternoon then it’s spot on
Modify it so you can get the right saddle height and a normal reach/ racy position. Then race a car or train across town or something
I just got a similar but much better when it comes to e bikes through Ebay for the total tax included of $641.00 U.S. dollars. It's called an HDTEA and I'm pretty happy with it. Thanks for the video keep up the good work. Thanks.
Very compact would be good for campervan or barge. Longer seat post perhaps for a better ride and change chain ring but without compulsory pedal assistance it's as illegal as a electric scooter. Unless you hire one lol.
Already another good video cam👌
excellent full review. Thanks
I'm a full time carer and looking for a way to get from my house to the persons I care for ( about 5 miles ) and I think this might be perfect, apprciate the video :)
My pleasure :)
In North America we can get the Jetson Bolt Pro for $450 CA and $350 US at a store called Costco. I just bought one at Amazon for $678 CA and I'm returning it to buy the same thing at Costco for $238 CA less. Watch Amazon very closely.
I had one of these for a while. I realised after a few days that it was going to destroy my back, so I traded up for an electric mountain bike. It was fun though!
Nice video cam, not a patch off your Colnago!
You're awesome. Keep up the great video. Thanks for the bike review. 👍
did you only use throttle until the last bar to get the 48 Km or did you assist it most of the way?
That horn sounds like the alarm sound my phone gives off when the gov sends out a warning
lol
Lol same
My recommendation is that you remove the pedals and replace them with pegs for your feet to rest on, with enough modifications that thing could go to maybe 70-80 km/h
Why should you believe me? They got bamned in Singapore for that
I’ve been needing this pick me up today
glad i could help :)
Yeah always helpful when u upload
Can it do hills and if so what gradient ?
After watching went to Amazon to check out bikes. Be good sir, enjoy your channel.
So do you still have the bike and does it still work fine? I'm interested in one of these so let me know pls
Excellent, honest review.
Have a look on tredz, the do an electric horn to out on your road bike👍
How tall are you so I can gauge where I would be positioned
hey man great video do you have a new link looks like the one you linked doesnt work thanks :)
You should hook up a battery backup to it (like a Goal Zero or something) so it gets charged WHILE you're riding, and see how far it can go. Might be cool. But I'd rather see a bike adventure / travel video than that to be honest haha. The France trip was so rad.
Ahh, yes. Add another $300 to the "budget ebike". Great idea 💡😂
