How to Touchless Wash your Tesla *SAFEST WAY*

  • In this video, I go through how to touchless wash your Tesla. Teslas are very unique from other car paints because they are very weak and can start you scratch and wear very easily. From my experience, it is important to do a touchless wash over doing a wash where you make contact with the car. The darker the paint the more you can see wear/scratches (for Teslas).
    Items I use in this Video:
    Powerwasher: amzn.to/35BUSds
    Foam Cannon + Cannon Soap: amzn.to/2WwHG4c
    Car Dryer (example): amzn.to/2GaDAca

    If you do a proper two bucket wash and use a blower for drying, you should be pretty safe from most wash induced scratches. I do agree with how soft and scratch prone Tesla paint is though. At least paint correction is easier lol 😁 This wash method is also fantastic as a quick maintenance wash.

    I’d recommend spraying your vehicle down with Mckees N-914 or Optimun No Rinse before doing your initial rinse. They’re chemicals that are made for rinseless and waterless wash to trap the chemical within their polymers. This is as opposed to just using the snow foam which only really lifts just the surface level dirt. But honestly if you do this twice I week, I’d recommend trying the two bucket system at least twice a month starting out and see how it goes. Also remember that paint can always be corrected, the “scratches” we are talking about when washing are very minimal and would most likely come out using a finishing polish with low to no grit. All that being said, your car is a beauty.

    If you put a wax or sealant on the water will come off easier with the leaf blower

    Best way is to get a ceramic coating if you want to do touch less washes every week. Worth every penny over a PPF.

    I washed my Tesla y for the first time using this method. It did a great job. However my windshield is left with spots on it. can I use Invisible Glass cleaner with a microfiber cloth without damaging my windshield? Thanks for all your great tips.

      Same for me. Touch less turned out great on the paint, but on the glass it left a bunch of water spots. I wonder if I dry it fully would it still have them?

    Nice car wash video. I know this is a car wash lesson and isn't a chemistry lesson but at 6:50 you say, "soft water has no minerals in it, no nothing in it, just pure water." Well, in a residential water softening system actually every ion of calcium is replaced by 2 ions of sodium. So softened water actually has twice as much mineral in it as hard water but it is sodium rather than calcium. I don't expect people to understand what softened water is but it certainly isn't pure water.
    Household water softeners typically use a different process, known as ion exchange. Ion-exchange devices consist of a bed of plastic (polymer) beads covalently bound to anion groups, such as -COO-. The negative charge of these anions is balanced by Na+ cations attached to them. When water containing Ca2+ and Mg2+ is passed through the ion exchanger, the Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions are more attracted to the anion groups than the Na+ ions. Hence, they replace the Na+ ions on the beads, and so the Na+ ions (which do not form scale) go into the water in their place.

    • @TeslaPhotographer
      @TeslaPhotographer  Před 5 lety +1

      MrMysticSeer good to know. I meant distilled is where you can leave it to air dry. Since there is no calcium, would you still think it’s possible to let the car air dry?

    Why can’t you touch a Tesla? You touch it everyday lol. What if I hand wash it with a soapy sponge? Will it mess it up? No duh of course not. I feel like a pressure washer is more likely to destroy the sensors and paint cause it is kinda used to remove paint sometimes lol

    softwater does not do anything to the paint?

    • @TeslaPhotographer
      @TeslaPhotographer  Před 4 lety

      Water in general does not do damage to the paint. But soft water gives you the ability to not drive the car so you can just spray it off Parkette in the garage and let it evaporate without leaving watermarks. If you use hard water you have to dry it immediately so it’s more work and most of the time you use towels which scratch your car
