- In this video, I go through how to touchless wash your Tesla. Teslas are very unique from other car paints because they are very weak and can start you scratch and wear very easily. From my experience, it is important to do a touchless wash over doing a wash where you make contact with the car. The darker the paint the more you can see wear/scratches (for Teslas).
Items I use in this Video:
Powerwasher: amzn.to/35BUSds
Foam Cannon + Cannon Soap: amzn.to/2WwHG4c
Car Dryer (example): amzn.to/2GaDAca
(NOT a paid promotion)
If you do a proper two bucket wash and use a blower for drying, you should be pretty safe from most wash induced scratches. I do agree with how soft and scratch prone Tesla paint is though. At least paint correction is easier lol 😁 This wash method is also fantastic as a quick maintenance wash.
absolutely love your stealth look
I’d recommend spraying your vehicle down with Mckees N-914 or Optimun No Rinse before doing your initial rinse. They’re chemicals that are made for rinseless and waterless wash to trap the chemical within their polymers. This is as opposed to just using the snow foam which only really lifts just the surface level dirt. But honestly if you do this twice I week, I’d recommend trying the two bucket system at least twice a month starting out and see how it goes. Also remember that paint can always be corrected, the “scratches” we are talking about when washing are very minimal and would most likely come out using a finishing polish with low to no grit. All that being said, your car is a beauty.
If you put a wax or sealant on the water will come off easier with the leaf blower
Best way is to get a ceramic coating if you want to do touch less washes every week. Worth every penny over a PPF.
PPF?

Dude your car looks beautiful! Can you do a list of any mods you've done... Thinking about getting a model 3 and would love to get some tips
Hey thank you! I have a new mods list vid on my standard range. I will be making a mods list video next month of my dual motor (the one in this vid). After some crazy things get done to it ;)
I washed my Tesla y for the first time using this method. It did a great job. However my windshield is left with spots on it. can I use Invisible Glass cleaner with a microfiber cloth without damaging my windshield? Thanks for all your great tips.
Same for me. Touch less turned out great on the paint, but on the glass it left a bunch of water spots. I wonder if I dry it fully would it still have them?
Nice car wash video. I know this is a car wash lesson and isn't a chemistry lesson but at 6:50 you say, "soft water has no minerals in it, no nothing in it, just pure water." Well, in a residential water softening system actually every ion of calcium is replaced by 2 ions of sodium. So softened water actually has twice as much mineral in it as hard water but it is sodium rather than calcium. I don't expect people to understand what softened water is but it certainly isn't pure water.
Household water softeners typically use a different process, known as ion exchange. Ion-exchange devices consist of a bed of plastic (polymer) beads covalently bound to anion groups, such as -COO-. The negative charge of these anions is balanced by Na+ cations attached to them. When water containing Ca2+ and Mg2+ is passed through the ion exchanger, the Ca2+ and Mg2+ ions are more attracted to the anion groups than the Na+ ions. Hence, they replace the Na+ ions on the beads, and so the Na+ ions (which do not form scale) go into the water in their place.
MrMysticSeer good to know. I meant distilled is where you can leave it to air dry. Since there is no calcium, would you still think it’s possible to let the car air dry?
As a science guy myself I really appreciate you going in depth. Good stuff!
Where did you get the front light covers at?
Why can’t you touch a Tesla? You touch it everyday lol. What if I hand wash it with a soapy sponge? Will it mess it up? No duh of course not. I feel like a pressure washer is more likely to destroy the sensors and paint cause it is kinda used to remove paint sometimes lol
love the blue brake pads
Thanks!
I had the genius idea to jump on the freeway and it worked to touchless dry it 😍
What tint % is that in your headlights and where did you purchase it? I love that smoke level...
Thanks! im not sure what the tint level is but its pretty dark on the scale lol. Its called expel smoked film. Basically just a clear bra with dark pigment in it
@@TeslaPhotographer Is the light tint legal? Not sure I can get away with that in CA
Probably the nicest Tesla I’ve seen. 👍
Thank ya 🖤
Great video, love your photography on Instagram!
Thanks so much!!
Never knew Teslas had such a thin clear coat...Anyone have theirs wrapped with a PPF or vinyl wrap? Pretty expensive, but wonder if it's worth it if you plan to maximize resale value. Vinyls don't protect that well I've heard, so mainly for looks..
I like your suspension setup! Caught my attention, I am planning to lower my Tesla on Unplugged Performance LOW springs soon. What suspension are you running and how is the ride quality?!
Encounter any problems yet with your setup, definitely scraped before right?! Haha
Good question he has t responded in 2 years 😱
I’ve been washing my Lexus wrong this entire time I need to cover my car in soap before I pressure wash
Helpful video! I think I need to try this touchless approach on my Model Y very soon.
Do you recommend cleaning a 2020 model 3 this way as well? Also, what type of microfiber towels do you recommend?
Good question. Same method use nice micro fibers. The ones I usually use are a rip off at $5/towel but get something very soft and good quality and you’ll be able to wash them a couple times too
Dude, your 3 looks so fresh, love the caliper and tinting color combos. What type of sunroof tint do you have that has the iridescence? Thanks for the tips.
Thanks!! I actually have no tint on my sunroof. Sometimes it’s too bright when I drive but not bad heat at leSt
@@TeslaPhotographer oh wow, good to know. I am expecting delivery soon so I am happy to know the roof looks awesome without anything extra. This delivery wait time got me watching every CZcams video in existence of Tesla/M3s lol.
😂😂 hope it all goes well ⚡️👍🏻
relativeus The new M3 don’t have that orange glow when wet anymore. They use a different glass panel
Solid video. So using a blower on the car after the wash, you don't end up with any water spots?
Soft water replaces the minerals with salt so that can still leave some spots.
Where did you get your headlight tint? Also what shade
Just wanted to let you know that your Amazon link is NOT to the Honda GCV190 pressure washer, but to a Sun Joe SPX3000. You may want to update the link.
Do you have to put the Tesla have to be put in a wash mode?
You said they're $20 each-- why is the foam gun & soap $115 now lol?
I heard that Touchless washes can cause issues with trim discoloration
Wait some of the things you say make no sense. Paint is water based? I dont think that is correct.
can you just get out on the highway to dry?
Yes I do that. But if you really want it clean then prob not. The wet car will get dust to stick to it on the highway so when all the waters Gone there’s a small amount of dust
I love ur car and whata that gold orangy sunroof is that a tint
Hey what’s the percentage of the vinyl tint on your headlights and taillights?
Black is not a good paint all odr colors are a lot better.
agreed
nice
my M3 looks the same. but how did you get / change the caliper color? i’ve been looking how to go from my red performance ones to green.
Had a shop paint them
Lol I have not washed my model x p100D for six months other than a couple hose sprays. And this guy washes twice a week.. come on..
Your foam is too runny make it thicker it will clean better pro nano diamond is a much better product no matter how dirty it does the job and leaves no dirt behind beautiful car
softwater does not do anything to the paint?
Water in general does not do damage to the paint. But soft water gives you the ability to not drive the car so you can just spray it off Parkette in the garage and let it evaporate without leaving watermarks. If you use hard water you have to dry it immediately so it’s more work and most of the time you use towels which scratch your car
In my soft system I put salt?
is this Model 3 a standard range or performance?
How are you drying it
Can u ceramic pro to protect that paint
Drying lol I get on the interstate and punch it haha
how did you get your brakes painted?
Which rear spoiler is do you have on this?
I hate washing Tesla’s the owners are always a bit funny. The paint at the bottom is very weak tends to just flake off. Then there is the cheap carpets which are impossible to vacuum
But DUDE, you are washing all that soap and chemical into the ocean.
Didn’t look very environmentally conscious...
Love the black on black on black on black on black on...
No joke I had my Tesla for 2 months and I literally run it through the car wash everyday. She’s white. Yours is black thats all.
Yea white holds up great the darker colors really go downhill fast
You said black Tesla
What psi setting for foaming?
What tint are your windows?
Global films 5% all around an 50 on the windshield
Oh, you're the dude that posted that IG video sleeping on AP for instalikes...
I get my tesla to a carwash when its dirty. Too much fuzz about a car . Tesla should be sued If the paint is so bad . Not healthy to be so carefull With your car

Too long bla bla !!! You could have simply started with the video since there is at least other method by Mr. Clean which includes washing and water beading for a fast dry which I had used and does an excellent job.
a lot of pollution with all that dirty water and soap for the environment !!
