The new GX-100 Guitar Effects Processor from BOSS sees this legendary company debut their first touch-screen editing tech - and it's great! Just pick your effect block, drag and drop... done! Most of the AIRD algorithms found in the GT-1000 are here (a few yet to be ported) and you'll find editing a breeze. The GX-100 has stereo outputs, optional bluetooth connectivity, looper, expression pedal, USB audio/MIDI stream, MIDI I/o... all of the good stuff. And it sounds great! Check it out.

It's such a great time to be alive for guitar playing Boss fans. "I've been waiting, for a Screen like this, to come into my life...".
That chorused clean at the very start was instant "Come Said the Boy" energy!
Good call. It probably was a Boss chorus used on that one, too. I'll ask Eric. Have you had a crack at this rig, LT?
D'oh! I see you have! 😂
@@BrettKingman yeah it rips! CSTB is one of my all time fave clean tones. We've been playing that one when we do covers and it goes off.
I’m my gosh ..I can’t wait to download your presets for the GX-100. Such a fantastic job you do 👍
Exceptional as always, Brett - Arigato!
GT-1000 with touch screen please
Yes, touch screen on GT1000 core, please
@Bosschannel
Gt-1000 with completely free signal chain, please!
Gx-1000???
Muy buena revisión. Boss corrigiendo errores de la GT-1000. Ahora la GX-100 tiene menor tamaño, pantalla táctil a color y sobretodo un menor costo, excelente.
Great video mate, I hadn't been that impressed with the sounds I'd heard out of this in other videos so far but I think you nailed it: that clean patch of yours where you bring in the rotary, sounded lovely.
BOSS multieffectors have never let me down at a gig. This one looks amazing!
Looks yes, the distraction is in the looks. Doesn't sound good at all and definitely not to be used if you like the sound of your tube amp!
@@richardjones2811 you own or played the gx-100?
@@jhue73 no, they prefer their line 6 5v tube amps
@@michaelmay9059 i prefer tube amps too. not sure what a "line 6 5v tube amp" is. i own a gt-1000 core and its ok but i think i prefer my fender princeton with analog pedals. all these digital pedals have a high pitched sound on the top end that i cant explain and its hard to get rid of even with a high pass and when you high pass enough the sound becomes much duller. the old korg digital multieffects pedal i own from the 90s is the same way. ive got some decent overdrive sounds from the gt-1000 into my princeton.
@@jhue73 I've been running my schecter through a off-brand karaoke machine I bought at Walmart last year. It gives it this thin transistor radio sound.
Cheers Brett, those Boss units are getting tempting, even for this ol fart.
Might be on the birthday list I reckon .
Hey Brett !! Nice to meet you again a big hug and you and family. It's been a few years since I've seen your reviews.
We are getting old.... but we ROCKS !!!
Oh man. .. i knew something was coming up ..wanted the gt 1000 core .. but going to check this out .. and make a decision.
I have the Core and I love it...but had I known that this was coming, I would have held out. Same everything but now the touch screen and the optional Bluetooth module? No brainer!
Looks and sounds incredible! Some people are stuck in comparison land... don't limit yourself! I use great tube amps and also guitar processors. sometimes together, sometimes not. Recording a tube amp for everything gets boring and uninspiring. Units like this give you options outside the same old single effects pedals. Boss gives you a switching system with a galaxy of options. No XLR outs? buy 2 adapters- solved. I've owned all the Boss (and other manufacturers) processors. Boss is built rock solid, always dependable. I can't tell you how many times other guitarists with huge racks of expensive gear on shows I was playing asked me what the heck I was using into my Marshall 100W JCM900s because they couldn't believe my sound. Like anything, you have to dial things in! Great review! I definitely like everything about the GX-100!
Hi John. I’m really looking into this unit. Do you know if you can connect a tube amp solely as a power source and STILL use the amp and cab modelers instead of only using effects when connecting your tube amp? Would you just turn off all effects on your tube amp and run it through a clean channel? Also any links to the 2 xlr adapters you talk about ? Thanks!!
Just ordered one
nice sound
Thanks for sharing
It sounds great, looks great and works great... but I'm just just not sold on the idea of infinite sound options... there's something quite enjoyable about the way your choice of effects and choice of cableing creates your sound (warts and all).
I think the ultimate option is to have this in your arsenal as an option.
I hate modeling!!!! But need this now!!!great demo as always son!
The Rotary and Vibe sounds alone makes this unit viable. I still use a GT-5! Might try connecting that to the IR-200.
Hi Brett, great demo. I already pre-ordered my GX-100 from Sweetwater. I know I will probably use the touch screen mostly, but I want to have the tone studio too. I looked for it, but couldn't find it yet. Do you know when it will be relesased to the general public? Cheers! :)
Brett! Love your videos as always. What's your take on the OD/boosts in the GX? I had an OD-200 for a while and never really warmed up to it. Thanks and Cheers!
Been running GNX4000 for last ten years. Needed to upgrade so got the Boss yesterday. LEARNING CURVE. LETS HAVE FUN.👍
I still use my gnx 4, lol.
I can still do so much with it
Great video Brett, when will your presets be out?
You definitely have a lot of patience Brett. I usually get worn out by all the fiddly nobs.
Boss as usual hit the right note!🎸
When you create a patch, can you go to manual mode with that patch to utilise them various effect and have more control. I’m using me80 and the mo, but need more flexibility, cheers?
thats nice it has 8 buttons but its a purty big unit could be a bit more compact imo but i guess its targeted for gigs and tours
Nice
Brett if you had to pick between the GX100, POD GO, HX Stomp xL or Moeer GE300Lite....... Would you recommend on in particular?
Hotone Ampero is a contender at lower end of the budget.
Hi Brett, hope you are well. What are your overall thoughts on this unit compared to the Helix LT in terms of tones, audio quality and ease of use?
There will be android and IOS mobile phone app to also control the unit hence the Bluetooth which is better than having to always physically hook up a tablet or laptop. The only downside is that you have to purchase a specific Boss Bluetooth adapter that needs to be plugged in at the back.
Good afternoon, I really liked your video about the headrush. the gx-100 has the ability to do scenes like the headrush???. Thank you
Hello is this unit any good as a standalone effects/pedalboard unit . I mean plug it in front of an amp only using the od's , reverb/delay's & the modulation effects ?
Burgs, Did you ever upload these patches to the Boss Tone Exchange? I can't seem to find them. Thanks!
Hello and would you recommend this unit for bass players and how many bass guitar patches are there?
Can you put 2 the same overdrives next to each other for stacking one into the other?
At 0:10 it looks like there is a problem with the display when not lit, crack or line of pixels is that just an artifact from recording camera or what?
I'm going out on a limb and say Boss has hit a home run with this pedal!
Just another paid troll from india ...
@@iloveitall lol...what the hell you talking about? Try to keep up Cletus.
One question: how works the noise gate on high gain tones??
I'm waiting for the GT1000core and MC-707 to be upgraded with this touch screen... The Fantom screen would be the ultimate...
Is the GX100 a cheaper version of something bigger and better on its way? Maybe more on Fractal/Kemper level.
Seamless program changes ?
Actually at that price it's going to sell well & it sounds great too, then there is the Boss quality.
This puppy takes up some serious real estate!
Can someone lead me to where I can download the patches ? Went to Bretts website and nothing?
Brett,
Can u you do a video on the Boss GX 100 using MIDI to Switch amp channels on a MIDI capable AMP ..Am using the MESA Triple Crown Head.
Thanks \../
Can I make a set list like the head rush ??? Thanks
👍👍
Is there alot of cool bass effects and top- cabibnets in GX 100 please!
😎👍
Can anyone please answer the question of whether the GX-100 truly supports setlists? For example, Helix LT supports 8 setlists. I suspect GX-100 supports ZERO setlists. A Boss customer support person just told me that it does actually support setlists but they need to be organized using Tone Studio on a computer. I understand that Tone Studio indeed supports them. But what good does that do the customer if the hardware does not? It seems that Boss employee may have misled me. Hopefully I'm missing something. Sure a customer can painstakingly upload a long list of patches to memory locations in the unit before a gig, one by one, and hope they don't make any errors in the process. But Tone Studio seems to lack a button to automatically upload a setlist to the GX-100.
Likewise, there's nothing in the GX-100 manual indicating it natively supports any setlists whatsoever. I hope I'm missing something since the GX-100 seems amazing and otherwise appears to meet my requirements. If not, I'll have no choice but to purchase a Helix. Thanks!

Brett? It has the same GT1000 amps...am I right or not?
Some Scenes system or something similar????
Mesmo usando IR's, a boss não me surpreende mais.
Awesome demo! I own the GT1000core and love it. Do you notice any difference in feel or sound due to the 48khz vs. The 96khz in the gt1000?
I would love a comparison about this regard ....
That's what I want to know too .. feel like the gx100 is clipping ..
@@colindias4820 lol then you don't understand sample rates and it shouldn't matter to you particularly.
See if you can recreate the sounds of the Boss metalizer MZ2 from 1986
Gx100 vs ge300?
No XLR outputs...
I use 2 adapters. solved.
Better at editing and effect# but sound wise you can achieve same with even GT-3 ..., GT-8 is a good unit too. IMHO it is more to know how to get to the sounds you like and desire than the latest expensive models
balanced outputs?
No, a mid spec unit for live use
This destroyed my Quad Cortex!
Boss is sadly behind the curve these days. Not feeling this unit. Best demo of it I have seen though.
A small request why don't we get boss processors made in japan .. we do understand the price factor but made in japan 🔥🔥🔥 🙏
Does it really matter where digital chips are assembled?
All the chipsets and semiconductors are made in Taiwan, Mate.
Makes no sense to do so if they manage quality control well.
Everything I have from Roland, Boss, Korg are all well built and made to last. Really solid company and one that I can rely on always.
Their stuff just works well.
I even have a Korg Pandora Px2 from 25 years ago that still works perfectly. I use it quite often because... It actually sounds better than a lot of other stuff that came much later.
Even that was made in China.
Nothing wrong with making high quality things at an affordable price.
Wow, its made in Malaysia where i live.
Now you must buy it.
I like the fact that it has very good tones and Touch Screen. but I think Line 6 POD Go has simple better functions.
I still prefer the Valeton GP-200 for the better connections, price, and more up-to-date, modern interface. The softweare is also a plus point in favor of the Valeton GP-200. But Boss is not entirely disposable.
Shame has no battery.
Based on Pod hd500...
Roland sounds are great but the architecture is so complex and there is ZERO support from Roland. I still can't figure out how to assign the pedal to wah or volume and noone at Roland will help. Its supposedly a touch screen but touching the pedal settings does nothing. Roland has been the same for 40 years. Great sounds, but complicated architecture and no support.
agree, just bought one, makes no sense to me,too complicated
Headrush for President....😎
2022 and they release something with USB-B, and think a touchscreen can compete with the ecosystems of the other guys... Come on, BOSS, that's always been the problem: your lack of ecosystem for your products. It's not a touchscreen, or the sounds, etc etc... it's the fact that you make it so difficult to share patches, or offer any type of support, and that guy in the next town over who plays through a BOSS multi-fx unit can't find a band because everyone doesn't trust him because of it. The situation is dire, son...and you need to change that. It was never the lack of a touchscreen...
(I own lots of BOSS products, but they're terrible in this area, and always have been)
Pros don't think like that and plenty use Boss products. They sell absolutely truck loads of the things and will last longer than any Fractal or Line6 product.
Hi.guitarist ,' gx100 .gt1000 .gt 1000 core ....nice and clear ' ....only , one things , that I like to said ....super ', top smart's ....great pedals .....three kind of best ....boss ,' great !!!!
Just another Boss device without any improvement on tone .. as always.
How long can you ride a dead horse?
Ask your dad 🤣

So you found a joke and now search the net for hours for someone you can make fun of?
Good boy!
What a way to spend a life!
@@iloveitall What a loser response. Did I hurt your ego? 🤣
Would this accommodate someone with sausage fingers and not drag five effects at once with the touchscreen?
No XLR out? No stereo, no mono? Really... in 2022.?
The Left and the Right outputs MAKE IT STEREO
@@JohnMasino but no XLR.
@@antestosic5938 I use 2 adapters, inexpensive. I'm finding I need those adapters for other things too like mixer AUX outs that are quarter inch. Not all monitors have a combo input with both.
@@JohnMasino ... so, to use stereo outboard effects (eg Timeline), this would be fine to run GT100 => Stereo FX => DAW/amp?
@@jmproductions59 I also owned a GT100 and recorded it's Left/Right outputs into my Presonus 16.0.2 recording interface. Worked great! Use the headphone out, or the quarter inch jacks out. buy adapters from quarter to XLR if needed. Use the amp/cab sims, and Line out setting.
Amp.simulaation is not good. And never was. So I pass boss.
Which one would you like for that ?
I think Boss is better for effects
@@AlfredHugecokk I just bought Ampero Hotone 2. It's fantastic!
@@madiimad Thanks Ivan !
