- Welcome back to a surrender introduction video of new intakes here at my small mammal rescue I run. Sometimes we rescue those in desperate need of help, may have some bad or misinformed care or those who're about to become homeless due to no fault of their own. But today's story involves surrender intakes where the owner was in a bad situation and needed to find safe and secure homes for their beloved fur babies. Turns out she's a fan of the channel. So today's video is the introduction to Brock and Bumble.

"The devil?" My dude you're one of the most compassionate people I've seen. Not many people care about small animals enough to get angry on their behalf. Someone needs to and it's excellent that you're sticking up for them! It's genuinely upsetting when people treat them in a way that gives them any less than a healthy, happy, long life.
yeah, my mom and dad both get mad at me for being 'too pushy, you need to calm down not everyone wants to spend so much money on animals and they dont understand why your so out spoken' mom usually agrees with me but she refuses to try and correct anyone because 'it's fine they are being fed atleast' basically refuses to be confrontational for fear of angering people, i think some people need a harsh wake up call about their abusive treatment.
not to say that i wont try the nicer approach first, it's just that most people dont listen to a kind nudge unfortunately (I've had all of 4 people who were greatful the rest all effectively said 'i dont live that expensively so they can deal')

If someone doesn't have the money to properly take care of any animal, be it fish or hamster or cat or goat, it is selfish to have the animal at all. Period. I'm sorry, but noone gets a free pass to put animals in to situations where they'll stuffer!

@@saged1513 the down side of being so outspoken is that you end up with family thinking your irritating and 'not forgiving enough' and zero friends to turn to, atleast that is how it's gone for me living in Florida and now georgia, people around here think pets are a birth right even if they can't afford to take care of them properly.

I've been watching your videos for about 4 months now. and I feel like such a horrible person for in the past. I had a hamster and she was in a tiny cage. I didn't know it wasn't meant for her. I always did my best to keep her out of that cage and had her running around in a play pin. but knowing what I know now. I will never again put them inside such a tiny enclosure again!
Don’t be harsh on yourself we all make mistakes. But the good thing is that you learnt by doing research.
That paper dish with cucumber and strawberries in the second bin is from the sendhamstermail box of July, just like the yellow dumbbells. They had a hamster box subscription!!! I feel so sorry for them, these people took good care of their hamsters!
I think you are the exact opposite of the horrible person some people make you out to be. You seem to be such a caring and kind person who wants the absolute best for all pets. You seem to truly have a heart of gold and I just love your personality too. Since discovering your videos around 6 months ago I've watched every video since because I find them so informative and entertaining. Keep being you Munchie, you wonderful, unique human 😊❤️

i use the kaytee bottles, maybe it could be a problem with fill lines there’s a line and if you do t fill to the line exactly they may leak
I switched to small water bowls after trying a few different water bottles that either broke on me or the ball kept getting stuck. Personally, I think the small bowls are a much better option as long as you keep it on some sort of platform
@@heather21231 I agree, but I also empty, clean the bowl, and refill daily with fresh water. Bowls are simply easier to clean and refill. To keep the bedding out of the bowl, place bowl on a platform...

Unfortunately so much is written and new owners are so unaware of the tiny cages and many other things just the hype to owning g a 🐹. I remember getting a critter tail but attached a large bin to it because as my hammy grew I saw it obviously wasn’t enough room, it was my first hamster so I didn’t know and after watching I got the bin for it. my hammy only used the critter trail as a bathroom spot, it was agreeing that’s where trash belongs 😂 I’m grateful for your channel helping me learn and I’m getting a new hammy tomorrow which is going to have a lovely large bin cage ♥️

My aunt had two dwarf hamsters, they both eventually died, she cared a lot about those hamsters, she just didn’t know how to care for them properly, so we ( me and my grandma ) might get her another hamster and help her to take care of them with the help of your videos

If anyone doesnt have tools for bin lids, box cutters work, though itll be more tedious and longer, so keep that in mind!

My first hamster as an adult was a long haired Syrian hamster. She was this beautiful brown and white and was so adorable. Nibbled me when I held her in the pet store but I was able to tame her very quickly. Had her for two years until she developed a lump on the side of her neck which turned out to be a malignant tumor. She ended up living with the lump for another 4 months but then quickly went down hill, the vet was very kind though from the moment we showed up when the lump appeared. Wish they lived longer cause I just don't have the heart for that sadly :(

I haven’t made any bin cages but I have cut lots of plastic for crafts etc and I have to say a wood burning or sauder pen is insanely easy to cut plastic (in a well ventilated area of course) so if you don’t wanna buy tools every time they break the sauder or wood burning pen is definitely the way to go! :)
Oh, I LOVE Be More Chill, I also named pets (toads instead of hamsters) after the characters!

If all you have to cut out a hole in the lid is a drill but you have the time to drill that many holes you could just drill a line of holes next to each other around the rim to cut out a large square to add mesh. Alternately get a cheap soldering iron and GO OUTSIDE to melt the hole for mesh into the lid, you can also turn any plastic container into a hide by cutting a hole. Go outside to avoid inhaling plastic fumes.
I'd like to have another hamster someday but right now I know that's not possible. I dont have the time, money, energy, space, and it's not fair to my other pets. Still I love to watch these videos.

Thanks to your videos I came to be more educated about owning hamsters~ I just ordered a good giant wheel for my future hamster and had help from a friend to DIY a giant bin cage!
Large bins are a great value for hamster enclosures. They are better than those tiny toy cages pet stores shouldn't sell, but do unfortunately, that are not much larger than a shoe box...

I have two hammies right now, ones a short hair Syrian and the other a teddy bear Syrian..I’m guilty of using Kaytee cages for temporary cages when their younger, but I always get a bigger wheel for them, and upgrade when I can. (Don’t bash me for it cause I know) but I was wondering in some tips for taming a short hair Syrian, mine loves to bite and is just a wild child. I’ve done multiple techniques, and It doesn’t seem to work as it’s been over two months now. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions.. thank you :)

Before I start I love your videos your the best ( ps I am from the uk)
I am unfortunately thinking about rehoming my lovely hamster honey who I have all had for about 4 months but at night I have to wear ear plugs to sleep to block out the noise of her bar biting (detolf) her cage. But the last few nights the behaviour has got worse and now she is trying to push the lid up and the noise is to load that twice I slept on the sofa to try to sleep. She normally a lovely girl and I love her with all my heart but I know she is getting very stressed every night need some advice on what to do for my lovely honey
Bad News, when I was getting chews for my hamster, I saw a family buying a hamster at pet smart and they were buying a tiny tales cage. I really wanted to say something, but I'm really shy and like they would listen to a 12 year old. It breaks my heart that people don't do research before getting a hamster 💔

Munchie, how many dwarf hamsters do you have? I mainly want dwarfs, because it seems like not many dwarf hamsters are getting as many homes as Syrians and I was looking I got adopting one. I do have a robo currently and he is fully tamed. (he is still pretty skidding though) He live sin the Prevue Products and the cage I have for the hamster I will adopt is a 40 gallon breeder tank. I wanted to tell you the cage size, so you would know what situation they are living with.
