That left hand rule works in most mazes, but there are ways to design one that beats that rule. Especially when the goal is in the center of the maze, like in this case

The reaspn why the party car was needed is because of the theme of the book. As you’ve seen so far, the journey of Min Gi and Ryan is pretty much “one step forward, two steps back”, as they keep ignoring or not communicating with each other about the issues. That’s why their numbers are linked and, despite all the progress, keep going back it 202. So I disagree that the art gallery doesn’t feel as strong because of their private concert moment because it illustrated their fight with an unstoppable fprce (the hands monster) who antagonised them against each other (and it worked, showing that they aren’t ready to leave the train).
So yeah, it would have been more “positive and nice” to see them do a concert after the emotional turmoil of ep 7 but, without appealing, all conflicts build up for a reason and are necessary for their journey.

i'm just gonna copy paste my appreciation for the docent.
that docent thing is genuinely one of the most terrifying monsters i've ever seen in a tv show, purely by context of what the denizens are supposed to do. a comment on another video has this interesting idea that the docent originally didn't have a form, it was just a shadow. but over time, as more and more passengers came in and ignored the one rule, "don't touch the artwork", he did exactly the same. he touched them back. and instead of helping them, brought their deepest hatreds and fears to light, before dispatching of them... and taking away what they used to touch the artwork. you can even see a passenger number on one of the hands for a few frames. this is a denizen that went rogue, and one-one never noticed.

The Docent, aka arm monster, gets its arms from passengers, possibly killing them in the process.

Ryan's door went away because he considered going through. He considered leaving Min-Gi. Kinda messed up for the train to give him an impossible exit there.

I‘m surprised no one ever warned you about episode 7, it‘s super heavy!
Also your trick to solving mazes doesn’t work with all mazes. It depends on how the maze is laid out.

The problem with the communication bit with the docent. Is that their character flaws are an unwillingness to communicate at that point in their lives, before the next ep
