Yes lol. I did his and the durge romance because I'd heard it was really lovely, I'm a lesbian myself so wasn't dying to see him naked, and when I turned up in the woods it kinda shocked me lol. Also my female half orc picked him up which made me laugh.

which is interesting because Astarion states that "Cazador was only figuratively hellish, there were never any devils hanging around" (when you talk about the fact his scars are in Infernal/them being part of some Infernal legalese). If Raphael or another devil was in fact hanging around, either it was where/when Astarion couldn't see it, or (which I think is more likely) he just didn't know they were devils, I mean Raphael doesn't look like one most of the time either.

Doubtlessly they hide their nature amongst mortals as they lurk the parties and nightlife of the Upper City. They also likely have informants beneath them bound by contracts.

I have a headcanon that Jonathan was the name of that "darling boy" that Astarion couldn't bear to bring back to Cazador, and so that name is always the first name that pops into his head when he's trying to make stuff up on the fly.
That is terrible and I am now also keeping it (/lighthearted)

That line about not knowing his scars shows up or at least it did for me even though Aurora already knew about them and told him they were a contract 😂 Though even if it didn't I couldn't ever humiliate Astarion like that 😢 so I wouldn't ever choose for Raphael to revel his scars.
Also is it bad that I know exactly where you are because of the background and music 😆
It was so hard not romancing him, and not allowing him to bite me (Shadowheart in that campaign)... I am trying to keep him neutral approval to see if we get different dialog options here and there

You know, before Patch 6 i absolutely loved ascended Astarion cuz of the whole vampire bride thing. But since the Patch drop and distressed facial expressions of Tav... idk. They changed it in such a direction that i dont enjoy it as much anymore. There is so much inconcistency now that it isnt even fun anymore😭 at first i was just happy that we got any new kiss animations at all. But the more i see them, the more i dislike them. Only because of Tavs expressions... they make me super uncomfortable. And it doesnt even fit with his writing anymore cuz they clearly made him do the dark kiss ritual with our character. If we were a normal spawn, then i would understand it. But not as his bride that he has to keep happy. It doesnt make any sense...
I will just wait and hope that Larian will change it and at least give us more choices... right now it just feels we dont have a chance for any type of roleplay. If it was based on our decision "be gentle...if you can" or "come on, make it hurt!" how he would act then that would be amazing! Cuz he then would know what Tav likes and he would either be softer or harsher. But Tav should be happy in both cases cuz they are consent with it.

I mean this neutrally-- the bride / groom thing is entirely headcanon. It doesn't have any basis in the game or in general 5e. Larian's following the writing they actually have; Ascended Astarion makes his partner his spawn and breaks up with them if they don't agree to it, bc he's become an abusive and 'paranoid, power-hungry creature' to quote earlier game Astarion. That's the entire narrative point of his story.

i know people will be like 'but ascended astarion is bad so they are just showing it' no one has a problem with him acting bad or the animations themselves, it's tav's face so this is about tav
if you ascend astarion there are MANY break up lines, if you choose to voluntarily stay with him you shouldn't be 'disgusted'
and even more i can't imagine a durge being disgusted by astarion biting their lip etc., they'd be so into it
and most people who ascend astarion are doing a more evil type of playthrough (not all, but a lot) so to imagine any kind of character like that being freaked out? probably not

I absolutely love ascended Astarion (with my evil durge) and I get the comments of people complaining about the last patch, but if any creator keeps changing their writing because of what people say, going against their original ideas, I think this is a defeat for any author and art expression. I hope they don’t change it, Ascended Astarion IS abusive, toxic, he exists because of a mass Murder sacrifice and hellish deal.. no surprise he is no sweetheart.
Also in the epilogue party, if you mention that you miss freedom, he tells you that you are annoying him AGAIN with this complaint and that he DOES NOT CARE if you like your life with him or not: this is what you will get, it’s not important your opinion or desire. And this was BEFORE patch 6.
So the bride romantic thing seems a lot like headcanon to me, which is fine! But I hope that larian and the authors stand for themselves and their work, being faithful to their ideas. For anything else, mods exist 😝
I was really surprised people actually took the vampire bride thing seriously. I mean it's just some accessory lore dug out of a book from the...what? 2e era of DnD? While BG3 is based on 5e rules. I mean yeah they probably take inspiration from the past DnD lores, but there is no evidence they would follow the book from 2e era. If you want to look into more complicated and more recent vampire lores, there is 3.5e monster manual and Libris Mortis in which I think vampire masters can produce full vampires under their control.
Still, Vampire Ascendant is a new thing with no written lores before, so I guess Larian has their own rules, and you can headcanon your own story, but there is no evidence they used that vampire bride/groom thing. I mean they put it in the dialogues that you cannot break up with Ascended Astarion if turned a spawn, and you ask him for freedom in patch 5 epilogue, so he basically has control over you if you're turned. That said, I'm not really into the new kisses either, mainly because it's a bit overacted.
Maybe they are trying to shift the winds on the whole simping over Astarion thing and make him a bit more "bad" so less people will like him and stop harassing Neil? Could it be?
