Lol i basically just used the AR in the part where you have to hold off until Keyes lands,Basically died 50 times and just used The AR from range and in the hunter section i ran out of shotgun ammo and explosives so i grabbed a plasma pistol/Ar and spammed the living hell out of it till those damm hunters finally died
On lower difficulties (easy and normal) the AR isn't horrible, but you're still better off with a DMR if you want to kill shit quickly. Why Bungie made it so weak is beyond me.
The AR, while not doing that much damage, actually was obscenely good accuracy and range in Reach so you can effectively use it as a sniper rifle in the beginning area and gun down the General Elite and, if you're lucky, even the Ultra without having to go down. It'll take a while but the Elites can't properly hide when you are above them so you can kill them without putting yourself in any danger.
You’ll be sniping people with the plasma pistol. Ammo/ enemy shield difficulty is always what makes halo hard. It’s easy to stay in cover and learn their movements. You need to be consistent though like this guy. He systematically deals with each enemy
Or, IDK, have a falcon ready to get him? 6 and Jorge didn't quite need to die. Jorge: "Hey, marine, wanna be a hero?" 6: "Thanks for the falcon, I'll be right on board."
@@Mortablunt jorge would've died anyways, pretty sure they needed a slipspace re-entry pack which was why noble six was able to make it but not jorge, also there was probably too many banshee's/phantoms nearby for a falcon/pelican to land there

Your advice is effective, your commentary is attentive and focused while also being entertaining, and your skill at the game is perfect. And you didn't even talk over the cutscenes so it's fun to watch the whole mission play out too. Thanks for making such excellent and longstanding guides.
Not this one. This, and each video in this series, is a flawless run. If it makes you feel any better though, the very first time I played this mission (which was on Legendary) it took me nearly three hours to complete.
Hokiebird428 well anyway man thanks to you...I have completed halo reaches halo 3 and halo 4 campaign on legendary by myself so yea thanks bro.....subscribed to you for life👍👍
When I get to the MAC gun, I hop in and get out immediately to hide in the back by the stairs, then rush back to it to shoot the ship when I hear the music get really urgent sounding
Aaron Hassler - Isn’t it more fun to stay in the gun and blast all of those dropships out of the sky? I’ve shown you how to to do it, so maybe try NOT hiding in a corner?
Those waves almost made me crazy. I run out of ammo and decide to go meele with the shotgun. Feel like fucking rambo when I avoid those shots from the fuel rod
Old video and late comment but, I find it weirdly impressive that after being impaled straight through the torso, Emile still somehow has the strength to yell a final taunt, spin himself around inside of the Elite's grip, and also take him out with a knife to the jaw. Granted, he dies practically immediately after but, still, that's one Hell of a manoeuvre to pull off after just being impaled. Anyway, on a final note, stellar walkthrough, thoroughly enjoyed it.
I finished reach on steam and I just have to say that the background battles tell a lot. This level stands out the rest for me, just looking at the sky full of covenant air units flying uncontested is a great way of saying reach is fucked, this game aged beautifully.
I went into this mission blind in legendary, by the time I had to clear the area for the drop ship I only bought a half empty dmr and a plasma pistol. I didn't know about the secret dmrs After running out of all precision ammo before the 3rd wave, I ended up scavenging a spiker and had to agro 1 enemy at a time over by the rocks.... It was actually hell

Apparently that field marshal was the same one that escapes during the first mission. It is also the one that killed Cat during the new Alexandria cut-scene. Thanks for the guides Hokie! I'm a regular Halo campaign player myself and I've just got done with doing a deathless run of this level using your guide. I'm definitely not a "noob" but certain encounters such as the one after the Mongoose segment and the one with the Elite General, Ultra etc were proving too difficult to do deathless using my strats so I turned to the walkthrough and literally got it first time! Also in the Package I used your strategies for the wave defence and got it first time too. Once more, thanks for the guides and I appreciate how much work you've put into them :)
Last time I played this level (on the landing pad) I wasn't able to get the Brutes as they got deployed and the hammer Chieftain seemed to have a vendetta against my Noble Six (I wasn't even on Legendary).
2 hours and 15 minutes. It took me awhile but thank you! I backtracked a lot to keep the dmr stocked and saved the spartain laser for the hunters. I'll have to say this is one of my top favorite Halo levels
I like to check these guides to see what weapon choices you brought between sections when I'm indecisive, and dang these guides have really taught me how OP needle rifles are in legendary. Not to mention grenade launchers ;-) The versatile play style shows how much more fun this game can be.
31:25 The first time I played through Halo: Reach on legendary (using this very guide) the secret dmr stash rolled off the cliff.. I wasn't confident enough to restart the entire level and I spent several hours just on this one fight using what ever garbage weapons I could find. I was constantly out of ammo and had to make mad dashes just to get a new plasma pistol. About to do the run through again after a couple years and I'm hoping things go smoother.
I never actually been able to make the secret dmr crate pop out of the wall in the holding section. I had to do it the hard way by carefully conserving dmr and needle riffle ammo until i can grab a fuel rod or the sniper rifle which both dnt have a lot of ammo. anyway good work on thoses guides really the best you can find online period
PSA to those playing this mission on MCC. If you want to use the DMR crate that's stuck in the wall on the landing pad go knock it out of the wall as soon as you enter the area. It would appear after extensive testing that for whatever reason if it's still in the wall by the time the first wave gets dropped off it gets launched off the cliff never to be seen again. You may even want to bring sprint with you to help get there in time. I have been able to do it without sprint but not consistently. With or without sprint you CANNOT waste time however. Keep in mind if you bring sprint with you the only other ability you will have access to for the remainder of the landing pad section is hologram. Looks like once again unfortunately but not surprisingly just like with the Seraphs 343 fucked up porting this game to MCC. At least this issue has a workaround you just need to know it exists. On my recent playthrough it took me over an hour to clear the landing pad in large part due to this issue because my dumbass didn't bring a DMR with me because I knew there'd be plenty of DMRs in the crate. If I hadn't had a needle rifle I probably wouldn't have been able to do it at all with the weapons that were available because I was getting so desperate I was using a spiker by the end.
Now after reading Ghosts of Onyx, I felt sorrow after Emile acknowledging to Carter that it’s been an honor serving alongside him. Me knowing what happened to the entirety of Alpha Company of the S-III program. Now Jun is the last of his company 😢
The best last level Halo mission ever. Halo has some great ones but this one tops it's. This is my list: 1. The Pillar of Autumn (Reach) 2. Coastal Highway (ODST) 3. The Maw (Halo CE) 4. The Great Journey (Halo 2) 5. Halo (Halo 3)
So you stress so many times how important it is to not miss with the Spartan laser against the Hunters and then Emile comes to say hi while you are firing at them xD
Finally, an actual person to talk about Halo Reach. Its difficult to pass. Me and my friend would wake up with moutain dew and chips! Much love. Hopefully, you can do a LASO challenge!!!
This video is 4 years old but I think it's worth mentioning that if you run out of ammo with the crate then you can find a spare DMR by a corpse in the lower section next to the building where the hidden crate is.
Ty so much i was doing great for pretty much the entire game until i got here. This is my first halo game. And fuck is this game awesome thanks btw. I loved this game on legendary it felt like a real war on that difficulty.
On my last play through of this mission, Emile hopped on a mongoose and drove himself off of the cliff as I was trying to get close enough to get him off. He didn’t respawn so I had no choice but to drive to the next checkpoint myself. Best way I found to do it without Emile is to use distance and terrain as cover. Keep as much distance from the drop pods as possible when driving past them; stay close to that little hill on the right as you make the right turn around the first scarab so the gunner on it has at least a partially obstructed target; and serpentine to avoid as many shots as possible.
It's entirely possible to survive the mongoose section without him, but I found it to be a total crapshoot, so I just recommended having him along to make things more reliable.
I've watch through this entire series and have only just remembered that I actually solo'd Legendary for my first full play through of the game. I remembered because the fight with the Field Marshal was one of my most challenging/memorable combat moments in this game. Specifically, by the time I had got to the Field Marshal, I had no ammo left and meandered my way through cover till I could kill him with melee and grenades. Sounds simple now, in writing, but in gameplay that was a very tough fight.
Something I don't quite understand. After noble 6 shoots down the giant ship(forgot its name) at the end, why can't Keyes wait a little while for noble 6 to get off the mac gun and make a run for the pillar of autumn? That way, noble 6 would survive.
31:25 it still works on mcc but going to warn you though it's going to be flung out the map very fast killing you instantly so instead you better move out of the way or use armor lock
I noticed that you changed your Spartan's color when I look back at your original reach walkthrough, it was blue back then but now its red :D I guess it fits the hokiebird :)
Yeah halo reach is definitely one of the scariest, darkest, gritty and the the most somber halo games in the series. It basically feels like ww2 all over again.
I was up till 3 in the morning trying to get this done so I could get the achievement. this vid genuinely kept me from rage quitting so you have my thanks 🖒
Right at the start of the mission I found it easier to take out all the grunts with the pistol and then use sprint to race to the hut for the DMR. You can then take out the first group or just move on the mongoose section. Also I kept getting shot up by plasma pistols as I approach the first Scarab so had to stop at the first corner to pick them off with the DMR. Maybe thats a change for the MCC version cause I didnt get close to making it through. Could also be that I got a check point on that corner and didnt have full speed which seems to be the difference on the rest of that Scarab section.
I think I’m ready for the keep your foot on the pedrogas achievement, my pr for reach segmented is around 2 hours 12 mins (the space fight in LNOS is the bane of my run)
I went through this level and it took like 2 hours, through the entire game I didn’t know plasma pistol does more dmg lmao, and I had to peek fire w ar and throw a lot of grenades to get through.
Okay, people are saying on the MCC version the DMR box isn't there. It absolutely is- I ignored it, following the advice, but went back down there during wave 2 and it was already out of the wall...
You can also start the mission by jump-killing the elite from the cliff. You'll need a couple of tries but if you manage to land on him and assassinate him at the same time, it's a free kill out of the way. ;)
at 5:42 when emile says bridge is out we're gonna have to jump it, go back and take out all the grunts in the drop pods then head to the broken bridge and there will be no wraith
For that second arena section with the wraith and the brutes. I always bum rush the wraith on the far right side, gives you a chance to knock out those jackals too. As long as you can take out the turret gunner, once you hijack the wraith it’s all easy pickings from there on out
I’ve done it like that too, but only when I’m not trying to do a deathless run. I found it worked that way sometimes, but was risky. Too risky for me to be willing to start the mission over if it didn’t work.
I remember in the segment at 26:18 where you fight the big green guys , I would go behind their backs and spam the shotgun which dealt very high damage and they are very slow so it was easier too
Sometimes the dmr case is particularly out of the wall and when I melee it flies in my direction so fast that it kills me although I was on MCC idk if it’s different then Xbox 360?

I died so many times in the final fight.
“You have to make every bullet count”. Proceeds to waste a bunch of pistol bullets on jackals not aiming correctly to their heads haha
I was dumb enough not to see the DMRs on this level until heading up to the cannon, that was painful.
I think I’m ready for the keep your foot on the pedrogas achievement, my pr for reach segmented is around 2 hours 12 mins (the space fight in LNOS is the bane of my run)
Them elites eat spartan laser shots for breakfast. And yet 6 can’t take any more than 3 plasma pistol shots without damn near dying.
Well it is Legendary
I'm just watching and I too shit my pants right there.
What's theme is the one that plays at around 14:45? It's similar if not the same one that plays when a member of the Noble Team dies
I went through this level and it took like 2 hours, through the entire game I didn’t know plasma pistol does more dmg lmao, and I had to peek fire w ar and throw a lot of grenades to get through.
I was going soo smoothly until I was on the turret part. That phantom that goes over your head killed me too many times.
Okay, people are saying on the MCC version the DMR box isn't there. It absolutely is- I ignored it, following the advice, but went back down there during wave 2 and it was already out of the wall...
have you heard that about a month ago that the xbone version got a patch for reach and runs smoother than the 360 fps?
You can also start the mission by jump-killing the elite from the cliff. You'll need a couple of tries but if you manage to land on him and assassinate him at the same time, it's a free kill out of the way. ;)
Thank you
at 5:42 when emile says bridge is out we're gonna have to jump it, go back and take out all the grunts in the drop pods then head to the broken bridge and there will be no wraith
I did good until I got to the hunters then I needed this video
For that second arena section with the wraith and the brutes. I always bum rush the wraith on the far right side, gives you a chance to knock out those jackals too. As long as you can take out the turret gunner, once you hijack the wraith it’s all easy pickings from there on out
I’ve done it like that too, but only when I’m not trying to do a deathless run. I found it worked that way sometimes, but was risky. Too risky for me to be willing to start the mission over if it didn’t work.
Ultra tip, hide behind the big gun at the end until you're told to take the shot at the big ship. If you're struggling. Hop in, blast
MCC update: the DMR ammo glitch where you punch it out of the wall DOES NOT WORK (on pc at least)- just thought id give a heads up
I remember in the segment at 26:18 where you fight the big green guys , I would go behind their backs and spam the shotgun which dealt very high damage and they are very slow so it was easier too
Attempting to get that close to a Hunter on Legendary will not end well. They have a stupidly quick melee attack that will kill in one hit.
@@Hokiebird428 literally always worked out for me , or maybe a newer movement style on pc considering I used to play on Xbox 360
yeah I tried that out earlier instinctively and all it takes is a lot of ducking and weaving
@@Ileanwhenitalk goddammit I miss Halo reach , finished the campaign about 50 times
Emile's death is so funny
Best halo player ever!
Covenant Cruiser after Mac Cannon Be like: MY FUCKIN KNEE
LMAO
Lol headshotting the Drones was the easy part. Got most of them in the head. Skirmishers I had more trouble with since they are pretty quick to shoot.
Sometimes the dmr case is particularly out of the wall and when I melee it flies in my direction so fast that it kills me although I was on MCC idk if it’s different then Xbox 360?
What do I do if I have two shots remaining in the lazer due to the hunters being lined up? Like doubled killed with two shots.
When you shoot the rocket at the platform with the jackels it doesn't kill them, I tested this and every time they survived
