    Thanks for confirming the PSI in the tires. I have read similar recommendations and was shocked to see when my new TCR came in they were recommending 85 to 125 PSI--yes 125!!! I believe I will go with the 70 to 75 psi recommendation for starters.

    • @sdkarnik
      @sdkarnik Před 3 lety

      hmm..i might try something less than 85 psi as well. i have been riding at 90 or so and it does feel harsh.

      @@sdkarnik They seal better when compromised--at least so far that is the case. At higher pressures it seems the sealant sprays all over the place and creates a mess. I didn't even realize I had a leak and it was sealed until I noticed the spot on the tire when I put it on my car rack.

    Interested to know what weight the bike comes in at? Imagine the rim brakes makes it a bit lighter than the equivalent disc model.

    The geometry changed a bit for 2021. More like GC race bikes, more trail & longer wheelbase. How does it compare to the 2016-2020 TCR Advanced pro/SL?

    Hello Tony. Hope all is well. I have similar skewers. I noticed that mine are not like the traditional skewers the you push the lever up. I had to "twirl" my lever around til I couldn't move it around anymore. Are your titanium skewers like this also? Hope you can answer. Take care.

    • @blkbelttony
      @blkbelttony  Před 2 lety

      Somewhat. All need to be tightened down enough then flip the lever lock and secure

    how did you get rim brakes, in canada they only come with disk brakes. either for the ultegra mec or di2

    Hey Tony, Totally agree with being able to run those tires on "low" road pressure. It significantly helps given how stiff this frame set is. Considering that I weigh-in less than 180lbs, it feels great. Have you looked into tubeless tires to replace the giant gavias when they eventually wear out? The LBS guy is aware of the hookless-tubeless nature of the wheels and told me to keep that in mind. Something about how some manufacturers are not giving a guarantee that their tires are 100% compatible with hookless rims. Also, do those Ti wheel skewers give you a positve lock feel similar to the camming action of stock skewers? TIA

    • @blkbelttony
      @blkbelttony  Před 3 lety +1

      As far as replacing the tires.... who keeps a bike that long? Lol. Just kidding. Ill be honest. I love the new tires. The grip is perfect and seem to roll pretty good. The skewers feel pretty secure. They don't give that feeling like when you get to the point and it just drops into lock, but you definitely feel them go past the camber point. I put out over 1500 watts and so far so good 👍

    Hey there - looking good... but feelin a little bummed like every year they bring out a new model and you have the old model! I have the silver 2019 version of this and I love it. You mention about the rims. I have the previous SLR1s that I was always aware were behind trend with 17m internal width... are they the main reason for the smoother feel then, that they wear 28s much better? Mine is the disc model so maybe could squeeze in some 28s but I guess I’m going to need a wheel upgrade before I can really get the improved ride comfort you speak of?

    • @blkbelttony
      @blkbelttony  Před 4 lety +1

      Be careful with 28mm on the older models. The front will clear just barely. Debris will scratch the inside crown of your fork.
      I am saying the 21 feel better, but nit putting down the last generation. They are great bikes to begin with. The bar was already set high in 2016 with that frame.
      You could pick up a set of cadex wheels or look for a take off set from a 2021. That would make a difference

    • @spamfremail
      @spamfremail Před 4 lety

      twowheeltony yeah good point. I have more clearance by not having to worry about callipers but not as much as the new model clearly so will keep a close eye on the crown and seat tube on the rear.

    • @blkbelttony
      @blkbelttony  Před 4 lety +1

      Look for a set of giant gavia tires in 28. I hear they run just a tad smaller on diameter and should fit a little better. I can tell you gatorskins will have less clearance from a friends experience

    • @AndyK-qh4gs
      @AndyK-qh4gs Před 4 lety

      I’ve got the TCR Advanced Pro 0 Disc 2017 model, with the old style SLR1 wheelset. Just fitted 28mm clincher GP5000 and they fit fine with plenty of clearance. Roll lovely too.

    • @blkbelttony
      @blkbelttony  Před 4 lety +1

      @@AndyK-qh4gs keep an eye on the inside of the front fork crown. As debris sticks to the tire it will make its way up and start hitting the fork. Good thing is your bike if I'm right is flat black and don't chip as easily. Plus touch up is a snap
