Nice review. I just bought this exact bike and I'm enjoying it. I tried a few other heavier and more trail oriented bikes the past few years. But, I just prefer the efficiency you get from this design.
Hi Tony! First the most important: Happy new year! Meanwhile I `ve watched various videos of you - really great stuff; thats why I subscibed your channel. Perhaps it`s a video-clip idea for you, in the future: You have them all (Giant bikes): the TCR, Defy, Revolt. Would it not be a interesting point of view to compare the bikes in their special characteristics, like speed, how nimble they are, about the suspension, ect. ? I myself struggle between the TCR and Defy. Mostly I ride on roads and firmly driven forest roads and farmer roads (concrete slap roads, bit bumpy). I have the feeling that characteristics of the different bike-types are mixed up more and more. So Gravel-Bikes get faster, racing bikes have more tire-clearance, ect. Have a good time and enjoy your rides! Greetings Oliver, Europe/Germany.
I have the same bike but the xtc 1 that come whit slx and xt is a super good drivetrain the fork is good very plush no problems after 1 month of heavy rides i say is a ver good xc bike is a fast climber
hey there twowheeltony at 00:48 seconds I noticed there is a gap between top tube and the two water bottles. I was wondering if a bontrager adventure bag would fit in that space. it is a long slender 3L bag that attaches to the bottom of the top tube : )
nice review, thanks. did you cut the Handlebar? the original is 780 mm? which size is best for daily use i order a Talon 0 because here in europe is available but only on order. must be patient. thank you for the presentation good contination
hello i enjoyed the video The same product I bought two months ago, I am riding a 29-inch Giant 21 model year. In Korea, the model is equipped with a Shimano Deore 12-speed drivetrain. Anyway, I am very satisfied with the weight and price-performance ratio. It is lighter than the carbon model I rode before! exorcism!
It definitely feels lighter when riding it. I upgraded to sram gx a few months ago. Seems to shift better now. I feel this bike is worth investing in better parts. Enjoy your rides
@@blkbelttony You've upgraded! Did you do it yourself? If so, that's great! Thank you for your reply. It really touches me that the upgrade is worth it. It's that good. People around me say that a carbon fiber bike is unconditionally good, but I have a different opinion. The shock absorber is as soft as a Fox shock. Thank you so much for the great review Have fun and safe riding
@@ej-oe8pd both are great bikes for what they were designed for. The fathom us very fun and capable on the trails. I prefer the 27.5 version. And the xtc is fast on the flowing trails. You need to ask where you are riding most
Hello there! Appreciate the review! Planning to change some components of the bike to able to do small and medium jumps. Is it possible? And can i use 140mm fork?
Thank you for watching. It's actually a great bike. I'm not sure how the 140mm forks would change the steering geometry. I'd ask a good bike shop that question. I've changed the tires to 2.4 more aggressive and what a difference. The shifters are now sram gx. Another great upgrade. Best of luck with yours. Let's us know how it works out.
@James Medina-Dellon also consider the giant fathom. It's more comparable to the rocky mountain growler. Both are trail bikes. The xtc is an xc bike. Sorry I am just giving you a better answer. I was driving before.good luck in your decision
It's fast for what it is... a $1300 bike. Yes the frame is light too fir that price point, but with its stock set up it's just not meant to be a race bike. Eventually the low end components will fail. I have since upgraded the shifter and derailleur, went with a shorter stem and bigger tires. The tires is personal because of where I ride mostly. Of course you can race the bike, but a guy as good as you on a higher end bike will have an advantage. That said I personally put out over 1600 watts and can push this bike up a hill or out of a corner faster than a little of guys my age, but give me a lighter , stiffer bike and I'd be faster. So, to be clear. For the price it is one of the best out there, just don't compare it to a higher end specked bike.
It handles most cross country jumps without an issue. It's not a Enduro or downhill bike, but the frame is very strong and still the fork is holding up with no problems other than it's heavy
i got my giant talon with deore groupset and rockshox fork 7 years ago for 850 dollars only diference is this is air fork and has less expensive brakes mine were mt400 so this bike is definitly too expensive for 550 dollars@@rap4live39

Grat bike! Think I have the great-great-great-great grandad of your bike (A 1994 Giant Rincon) completely rigid and it still cuts it for me!
Giants never die. Lol. Post pics on our page. Love to see it

@@user-uq4hv9fc8g yes I did it myself. The sram sx was a very basic derailleur and wasn't holding its settings.
Cool 👍I bought the Fathom, but XTC aluminum is my 2nd favorite😁
Fathom is a great bike. I had a 2018 fathom 1 27.5 .ots of fun and well built bike

Yes, it jumps very well. Very stable and level bike in the air.

Great Bike... swap Saddle, Bars and fork for Fox 32 Step cast and it's 11.5kg... Happy Biker :).

Lovely 🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻
How much do you weight so that the front suspension almost reaches the limit?,thanks!
About 220 lbs,
@@blkbelttony thank you! I'm about that weight too, that's why I asked. Good rides!
I'd say get a more aggressive tire. I'm 170lbs and usually race with around 25-30 psi.
Between this bike and the Rocky mountain Bike Growler 40 which would you go with?
The one I own.( giant xtc)

Hey does your fork make a tiktok sound
No, just hear the air passing through
Does it have boost axle (148x12) in the back?
Yes, it's boost

Why do you say "you will be disappointed" if you want a race bike, where as in you previous statement you said it is a fast bike with a light frame!

Its not made for jumping so that kind of explains the suspension

too expensive this bike should be worth 800 dollars shimano brakes are low end for that price and fork should be at least rock shox
It is actually one of the best XC MTB on the market ^^
