- The @Waltherarms Q4 SF is not just a small version of the Q5, it has been totally re-engineered for concealed carry. In my opinion, it is a top-notch offering by Walther. We take a look in this table-top review. Thank you for stopping by and God Bless.

A work of "Art" and "Engineered" for precision performance!
I was introduced to Walther in history of the Luger and so I decided to purchase the Walther CCP 9mm. And what a nice carry gun it is, the ergonomics were superb. I have come full circle with the high standards of Walther arms and without any doubt are the finest handguns in the world. I own many brands and I will not comprise on quality. Walther hands down is professional grade. Great review on Q4 a heck of a nice pistol.
The more I shoot this pistol - them more I like it. Thank you for watching!
Thank you for the review. I just ended up placing an order for one!
You are very welcome and congratulations on your purchase. It is a very nice pistol. Thank you for watching!
Work of art
Thanks for the review. Your video was part of my decision’s making to purchase one.
You are very welcome Jose. Thank you very much for taking the time to watch.
To each his own & I say this as a retired SF weapons Sgt that came from the 1911 era which I still love by the way but the PPQ was great from the start. I love Glocks, Sigs & HKs as well but for some reason Walthers are often overlooked. My P99 & Gen 1 PPQ are at the top of my carry list. As far as this variant goes, well it's sort of seems like a answer to a question that may not exist. With that said, you better believe I'm buying one, if for no other reason then its sheer beauty & no doubt Walther quality.
There is no question. This is a beautifully made pistol. I could just sit there and just look at it. It is all personal preference at the end of the day. By the way, the P99 is one of my favorite pistols. Thank you so much for watching.
Very nice pistol. This video made me take a hard look at this gun. Eventually I couldn't resist the itch and bought it. Feels amazing compared to my other pistols. A good holster and belt makes it easy to carry.
I would choose this pistol any day over the “new“ AXG line of pistols from Sig Sauer. Thank you very much for watching.
Nice review. There is one at the shop I work at, trying to decide whether to get it or not.
Beautiful. It is a walther, expect it. Reliabity is everything.
It feels incredible in the hand. Perfectly balanced.
Absolutely beautiful piece of work there. This pistol caught my attention the first time I saw it. The weight doesn't bother me as I've drifted away from the polymer framed pistols (Staccato P Duo doesn't count). The price is steep by a couple three hundred IMO, but it's probably worth it. The machine work is incredible. Thank you Sir, for the up close view.
Late reply but I also have a P DUO and a Q4 SF , I cannot say the Walther shoots as well as the P but it comes pretty close especially when fitted with LOK thin grips.
@@fate930 Nice to know, thanks. It looks really comfortable in the hand.
Nice looking gun.
If it weren’t so expensive, I would probably get one. I like Walther quite a bit!
Very beautiful pistol. Although I would have prefered an ambidextrous paddle mag release. Hope Walther's going to make it happen. Regards.
Yes that would’ve been much better. I agree. Thank you for watching!
That’s a beautiful looking gun. I have a standard PPQ M2. I just might have to get this one, too.
It’s superb firearm. Thank you very much for stopping by.
Did you get one?
Beautiful pistol good review
Thank you very much for your kind words and for taking the time to watch.
Beautiful weapon
It truly is. Thank you for watching.
I wasn't aware this gun even existed lol. Thank you so much for showing and giving us all the details. You always have very nice firearms on your channel
If the trigger is better than the PPQ’s trigger, that is truly phenomenal!
I have the regular PPQ and i love it but this Steel Frame in 4" is sooo nice, wonderful weapon! Unfortunately too heavy for conceal carry.
I agree.Thank you very much for watching.
Just get a nice holster and a nice belt, and suddenly this gun becomes very appealing
@@Rexini_Kobaltnope, for concealed carry i have my P365.
I hate to carry full size gun
Just picked one of these bad boys up, can’t wait to shoot it.
Also, the weight isn’t an issue with me either as I’ve shot 1911’s and full size S&W revolvers so for me it’s no big deal.
Congratulations. Fantastic firearm. Thank you very much for watching.
Fantastic pistol and worth every penny. Sold my PPQ Q5 Match with Apex trigger and did not like the recoil impulse--replaced it with the Q4 SF.
Not only does it should well, I just like holding it and looking at it! Thank you so much for watching.
I bought a Q5 match SF last year. I also did not care for the recoil impulse. Came across a steal of a deal on a used Q4 SF a few days ago and I absolutely love it. Might actually be the best handgun I have ever owned.
Great review, I am considering this gun vs the DWX compact, and the Wilson combat EDC X9. What's your opinion?
That's a tough call. Depends really which feels best in your hand. I think the Q4 will be the heaviest of the bunch. For me, it would be the WC EDC X9. Thanks for watching and let me know which you end up buying.
Thanks for this. I'm a PPQ and CZ fan and I prefer all metal guns (all steel being the best option). Both the Q4 and Q5 SFs are very tempting. The price tho is a bit on the steep side, especially for the Q4. Looking forward to your range/shooting impressions. Cheers!
I agree on the price point. I love the Q4 but I believe the Q5 SF is a better value for the money. Thanks for watching.
Quality isn’t cheap.
@@frankiemarinojr9279 I agree, quality isn't cheap and objectively the price of a Q5 SF compared to a CZ Shadow 2 or TSO or a nice 1911 or LTT RDO Beretta other all metal full sized race ready gun is on par. It's the price of the Q4 that seems a little out of whack is all. I can get a steal framed CZ P01, polish it, install upgraded parts, have it milled for a RDS for less than $1000 and have it be a very, very sweet shooter (I know cause I've done it). And heck Tanfos and Sars and and other all metal guns out there are also less expensive and really nice. Don't get me wrong, I'd love either of PPQs and was really considering the Q5 SF while I was out this morning shooting my Apex triggered 5in M1 with an SRO. I love that damn gun but dearly wish it was all metal. In fact I was saving for a CZ A01-LD OR but am considering just changing it up and buying a darn Q5 SF.😉
@@frankiemarinojr9279 Oh and if they made a SF .45 I'd be an instant buyer 👍
I'm a huge fan of Walther's P99 designs (may they never make rounded trigger guards again on this design) and I did not think this pistol looked THAT good. It's a work of freaking art.
The P99 is on my shopping list. Thanks for watching!
❤❤❤Ammmmmazing
Better looking than the HK VP9. Beautiful gun.
It sure is. Thanks for watching!
Great Review
One Experience I'vemade with walthers.
Try to find a softer spring for the Firingpin Safety plunger. it makes your trigger pull even better.
i changed the plunger spring on my friends 5" PPQ + i shortened it a little bit...much better now and still reliable.
this change causes the Plunger to push less on the trigger bar and the trigger bar can glide more smoothly tho the "real" wall.
Kind Regards
Thank you so much for this advice. I really appreciate it. Thank you for watching!
@@MDpolo thank you for these videos.

Love it, is there pistols you prefer over this in the same price range?
I like the Sig AXG Scorpion and the Sig P320 Wilson Combat.
Any follow up thoughts ?
Also anyone know if a threaded barrel version will be available ?
Canada has a 106mm minimum barrel length regulation. : /
I’m sorry but I am not aware of a model of this pistol from the factory with a threaded barrel. However, I would be surprised if one of the threaded barrels for other Walthers wouldn’t fit as well as threaded barrel options by third-party manufacturers. It’s just not something I’ve looked into for this pistol. Thank you for watching!
I was blessed to find the optics ready model brand new for $899. I could not pass it up
Wow! Nice.
Where on the trigger shoe are you measuring the trigger pull?
On the flattest part of the shoe, straight back and more than once.
The grips and trigger aren’t steel. I bought a Walther Q4 Steel Frame last week. Love it. Waiting for Walther to release the Dynamic trigger for it.
Just got mine today. Haven't shot it yet but yes, the grips and trigger are polymer.
It just feels so nice compared to other guns. Fits my small hands very well and one of the next factory triggers right out of the box. Definitely worth the purchase.
Does it have a smaller back strap option?
No but Lok Grips just came out with a thin G10 grip for it and Walther should be importing thin aluminum grips soon.
+Alaskan Ballistics regrettably no. But +Chris Ragone is correct in his reply to you. To me it should come with grip options at the price point that the Q4 comes in. Be well and thanks for watching!
that Gun looks Awesome! I wish also came in a Subcompact .. For what ever reason , Walther don't understand that's were the money is
It would be awesome in a subcompact. Thank you for watching!
Walther invented the CCW with the PPK. They know what they’re doing. This is a duty gun.
@@MDpolo If Walther made a Q4 subcompact model. It would be the ultimate conceal carry firearm!
@@seveglider8406 I agree with you. That would be fantastic!
Dear Ruger: give us a THREADED BARREL!!
Can y tell me about the tolerances slide/frame? Thanks
Not like the ones found in custom 1911s, but very, smooth and well done. I’m impressed. Thanks for watching.
@@MDpolo thanks for your kind answer
So Walther says the trigger is 5.6 lbs. you’re gun is coming in at 4.8 lbs. and I’ve been reading that as PPQ break in after a couple thousand rounds the triggers usually settle in at around 4 lbs.
If I carried this gun it’d be in a.shoulder holster or OWB never AIWB. I’m just a little apprehensive about such a light/short trigger pull without a manual safety.
Obviously finger off the trigger when reholstering, making sure there aren’t any obstructions like clothing or jacket drawstrings in the holster and looking the gun into the holster are necessary.
Trigger discipline is definitely a must. I’m not a fan of safeties on my carry pistols. Thanks for watching.
Steel is nice so you can pistol whip someone and don't have to worry about it flying to pieces
LOL.
Is it the same magazine as the PPQ?
I’m not sure because I don’t have a regular PPQ to try it. But it is my understanding that the PPQ M2 mags will fit. But don’t take my word for it because like I said, I am not sure. Thank you for watching.
Grrrrrr very sexy gun !!!!!!!!!!
I would love to own one to compliment my two original Walther P99 Gen 1's in 9mm but that price point perhaps could find one brand new for $999 if I'm lucky someday !!! What does the Q4 stand for and I know the SF stands for striker fired ?
SF stands for steel frame
I don't know what the 4 stands for. The Q stands for QUALITY!
@@seveglider8406 Someone commented that the SF stands for steel frame and that makes since !!!
@@jeffreyelliott622 It is a Steel Frame Firearm and it is Top Quality!
Would You recommend this for someone who has only used 357 Revolvers?
+Seve Glider a bit on the heavier side but one of my all-time favorite handguns.
@@MDpolo Just wanted to give You an update. I purchased the Q4 standard. I'm not a fan of Optic sights. It lives up to Your review. Great ergonomics, superb trigger, minimum recoil, reliable, not 1 misfire after 1,200 rounds, superbly balanced and easy to handle. Quality German manufactured product. No problem for conceal carry, just get a quality holster. I've test fired 20 9MM Semi Autos. In my opinion, this is the finest one.
@@seveglider8406 I’m very happy to hear that you like it.
How does this compare to a P320 AXG Scorpion?
That would be a good comparison. Let me see if I can get working on that. Thank you for watching.
Is the barrel polygonal or lands and grooves?
It is not. It is a 4" barrel with six grooves of 1:10"-twist right-hand rifling.
@@MDpolo it is a polygonal rifled barrel
Master Chief's off-duty ccw
I bet it's a sweet shooter
where you recomment purchase with optic ready
I’ve seen them at Shoot Point Blank In Carmel Indiana. But everything is difficult to fine right now so good luck. Thank you for watching.
@@MDpolo thanks but i already went to point blank in la grang 2 days ago, nadaa
I am a huge Walther fan. I switched over the PDP. Reliable, very accurate, with an amazing trigger pull and ergonomics combined with a solid grip, the PDP is the best handgun of 2021. I love the PPQ as well, nothing wrong with it AT ALL, but the PDP is a noticeable improved PPQ.
I agree with you. Thank you very much for watching.
@@MDpolo thank you for sharing.
My pleasure.
All steel gun; what is the trigger made of; Steel or polymer?😳
Regrettably the trigger shoe is polymer. However, it feels really good and has never bothered me.
I don't know the demographic or purpose for this gun
If youre going all out for weight, the Q5 isn't far behind in price and has more features
For a carry gun, a regular PPQ will serve as well or better because of weight
Its a nice gun for sure but I don't see a use myself
It's a novelty for people looking for a heavy steel CCW or EDC.
If u wanna pistol whip the mess outta someone and don't want to break the gun. Duh lol
It’s a duty pistol. Something that will last for generations.
No night sights? That’s like buying an $80,000 Mercedes that has plastic seats. Either way it appears to be an outstanding pistol (and heavy).
It is an outstanding pistol. Thank you very much for watching!
Yeah no night sights is a pretty big turn off but the rest of this pistol is so incredibly clean
If the grips are so great, why are so many people buying aftermarket grip replacements?
To each their own. I don’t think they have to be replaced but again, that’s just my opinion.
Probably because everyone is obsessed with adding grip tape like the handleitgrips or Talon.
Hate the fact they kept the plastic trigger. It feels out of place when handling it.
I think that's the only flaw.
Concealed carry.. Looks like it ways 100lbs and full size.
Walther may want to rethink the word conceal
It is a bit of a heifer for a concealed carry. But it sure feels fantastic in the hand and it shoots like a dream. Thank you for watching.
@@MDpolo beautiful gun
same weight as full size 1911
I believe the grips are not steel
I miss spoke if I said steel. Thank you very much for stopping by.
Beautiful gun.
The Q4 really should've been aluminum alloy instead of steel if it's supposed to be CCW pistol, not just a CCW-sized.
Steel makes sense for the Q5 competition, but CCW Q4 not being alloy I think is a miss by Walther.
If they make an AF version, I'd be all over it
I completely agree with you! Thank you very much for watching.
From 1200$ and up .....😟😟😟 r u f...Ing kidding me🤬🤬🤬 gun looks good tho but 1200$ fuck no🤨🤨🤨
That slide needs some redesign period, doesn't match the frame at all.
Looks a lot like a hi-point....just saying...
Buy a 1911 and have a real classic
Steel frame? Carry every day ...not funny and rusty problem..
