70's Aerosmith was fire. Hard to beat their first five albums. You would have to look high and low to find a bad tune. Dive into that era of Aerosmith and you won't be disappointed.

@jaquestraw1 I hear ya. IMO, that album had about 5 real good rocking tunes and 4 fillers. Too be honest I didn't really like "Walk this way" off the Toys album. Maybe it was due to the massive overplay on AM radio, we'll never know. After the whole run dmc collaboration it kinda became lost it for me. I really liked the "Get Your Wings" and "Rocks" albums. Their first album Aerosmith which was released, then pulled and re-released after walk this way brought them some notoriety was vastly overlooked. My first concert was them as headliner with Bob Seger, Jeff Beck, Black Oak Arkansas and Poco, July 4th 1976. Miss those days, simpler times and people hadn't become so open minded that their brains were falling out.

Yeah, but it's based on a misnomer, as all the rabbits tested died, not just the bun-in-the-oven positive ones. In Aerosmith's defense, though, the misnomer was widely (mis)used.

As a Brother✊🏿 from the Boogie Down Bronx, (59 years old) I was a big fan of Aerosmith. They had a funky groove to their rock thing. Way before Aerosmith collaborated with RunDmc, the drum intro to “Walk This Way” was cut and scratched at the hip hop club. Plus the original song is way better than that watered down rock/HipHop collabo!!! Yea I said it!!!😂😂

There musta been something in the water back then because the catalogue of great music across all genres was inspired by something. It's uncanny how so many different musical minds from so many different backgrounds and influences could create such a wide variety of musical gold. Sadly it went south a few years later, never to recover.

@@MoMoMyPup10 Yep. There was still good music in the 80s and I liked some of the grunge stuff when that was all the rage, There’s still good music today although it’s getting lost in an ocean of information, diamonds in the waste.
I’m in complete agreement though because the late 60s and the entire 70s saw an unprecedented burst of musical creativity and excellence that I fear will never return sadly. Less people bother to learn their instruments now and with AI it certainly looks bleak.

@@itsmedrooms6071 Definitely agree. The 80's as a decade overall was good, but where it trended turned out to be a bad thing. Techno seemed to turn the whole industry artificial and uninspiring. And much of it didn't age well at all. Then lip sync and autotune destroyed everything.

A couple more good ones from that album are; Round and Round__No More No More. My first concert was 1978 - Cal Jam 2; Aerosmith headlined it. I was 15yrs9mos, was there for more than 26 hours, my older brother got lost around noon...just before Santana played, and I hitch-hiked home (after Aerosmith) from the speedway to San Berdoo. I was hollering "anyone going to Berdoo?" and someone said "come on, we are." They lived just a few blocks from me.

I am jealous of that concert you went to especially the venue location. Also, there was no Santana there. I later saw Aerosmith 2 nights in a row in 84. The two shows were identical which was weird. But Aerosmith was my first favorite band. They were badass in the 70s.

My uncle took me to town after we finished putting up our last barn of tobacco, and he took me to the record shop (which was actually the Schwinn bike repair shop & automotive repair shop, combined) but they sold records in the back of the shop. I had to wait in line, but I was so excited when I got this record. I went home and immediately put it on to play. lol What great memories, thanks fellas for reacting to this one. We appreciate you. 💖

As a huge fan of the 70's here's another example of how phenomenal that decade was. Aerosmith of the 70's is Aerosmith.
    Great reaction gentlemen.

I was fourteen in 1975 when that Album (Toys in the Attic) came out. My friend called me up and told me to come over because his mom bought him the Album.
Still to this day, one of my favorites. 😎🤟🏽👊🏽

I was in high school from 1977 - 1981. The music that came out in that time frame was phenomenal. What an auditory delight my young self was devoted to. I know this was a little earlier, but we listened to that too

Bassist Tom Hamilton and Singer Steven Tyler wrote this tune, hence the Bass lead at the beginning. Saw Aerosmith for the first time about three weeks after the album "Toys In The Attic" was released. And, of course, they played most of the songs at the show, including this one. Got a great response from the crowd. Over all, a GREAT show.

That sound you thought was a clap I believe Steven Tyler said was ripping paper...And the maraca sound at the beginning is a sugar packet! Nice job guy's!

    • @THGL01
      @THGL01 Před 9 měsíci +1

I think it’s an interview with Howard Stern, but Steven Tyler mentioned forgetting to bring his maracas and just told the sound guy to turn the gain on the mic all the up and used the sugar packet like you mentioned. Also, in the beginning of the song, there’s a vibraslap that’s played three times but the third slap it broke. The just ran with it and left it in.

Steven Tyler is a drummer as well as a vocalist. That contributes to his rhythmic style of singing. This song is a banger!

I saw them live in the fall of 1975 while they were on the promotional tour for the album (“Toys in the Attic”) that this track is from.
They were the bottom band of a three act bill, Ted Nugent was in the middle and Edgar Winter with Rick Derringer was the headliner (that’s who I really went to see).
I didn’t know much about Aerosmith back then, but I was very impressed that night.
I’ve seen them a few times since then over the years, but that first performance is the one that’s staid with me almost 50 years later.

Swagger and street attitude! 2 things about the intro- the clacker Tryler was using broke, you can hear it and he used a sugar packet to mimic a percussion shaker.
