As a woman with ADHD (only diagnosed a few years ago), the first thing I thought, watching that Jimmy Fallon interview was, that RB must have ADHD, and sure enough, he does. I've had to read up on it to help myself, so have learnt to recognise a lot of behaviours. Interrupting & not waiting your turn is such an obvious one, not thinking before you act, or considering consequences, and generally being unable to think like other people is what makes life so difficult. I have done some incredibly dangerous, impulsive and reckless things in my life which only now have I realised caused me, and the people around me, dreadful consequences, which no neuro-typical person would have done.
Lots of people made a ton of cash out of Russell Brand and as such he was egged-on, indulged, enabled, (and an addict). They had someone who was unpredictable and a livewire. They could clearly see he did not even understand the concept of boundaries, so would do anything which makes great TV (remember, someone at MTV must have let him on air dressed as Osama Bin Laden). That is probably something he may not have even recognised if he's neuro diverse.
So I would say in these cases, quite possibly, both the denial and the accusations can be true at the same time.
So do I believe the accusations? I am inclined to say yes.
Am I convinced he is telling the truth in his denial? Also yes.
Neuro-Diverse people's perception of everything, and consequent behaviour, is simply not "normal".
It's certainly not an excuse, but the fact that no-one appears to have mentioned it, shows how disinterested anyone is in the impact that ND can have, and can only add layers of complexity to what can only be trial by media.
(Please excuse the rant, I've tried my best to explain, but there's a national shortage of my medication here in the UK!)

Thanks for sharing Victoria. Russell was egged on and rewarded for outrageous behaviour by both BBC and Channel 4. They had a goldmine in Russell and milked it. It is very concerning that govt would apply pressure to have his ability to earn money cut off because of allegations in a documentary. Making people destitute seems to be the new govt weapon of control.

There's a concept called restorative justice that would fit if someone has learned and grown from past misdeeds. They can make reasonable reparations, like paying for therapy, attending mandatory therapy, formal apologies, etc, but because both parties agree the court doesn't need to be involved. I would love to see this talked about more. It gives an avenue for closure without forcing people into such a draconian system that can be traumatic for the victim and doesn't really try to be a correctional system for the perp.

They will go after your money first but if you keep talking about him, you'll start getting unexplained content violations until they have enough to shut down a channel. It's happened to several people and not just over Russell, it's been happening for a couple of years, and not to people who deserved it. If they demonetize anyone who's talking about him it's meant to discourage EVERYONE from even saying his name. This is meant to "smother" Russell Brand, push him out of sight, depriving his very name of oxygen. After 12 years of total enjoyment, I'm really just disgusted from hanging out on CZcams very much. Fantastic analysis, per usual, Spidey.
Here's my take. When I first saw that picture of Katherine McPhee's horrified face, I said to myself 'WTF!', then I saw the whole clip, and thought, 'Oh, ok, she's fine.' Katherine handled herself very well in that situation. She clearly didn't see him as a physical threat, but she did know enough (as did I) that someone like him feeds off of attention, and the less you give, the better off you'll be. He didn't leave because he suddenly was told she was married. He left because she didn't give him the "time of day." On seeing the picture (and not the whole video) I thought "Damn!, women need to stand up to men like that." And she ended up doing exactly that, in her most graceful, but firm, way. She's a class act. Jimmy's reaction says a whole lot more than Katherine's, imo. He knows something - even back then. I wonder what that is. I do think Russell is trying to be a better, and more respectful guy. Censorship is a bitch, and I hate it. People, unfortunately, believe too much of what is *presented* to them, without all the facts; without open-minds; and without having heard from the "horse's mouth". I'll have to wait for more, in order to make a determination on Russell. But for now, with this particular clip with Katherine, THEY are just pushing a narative THEY want you to believe. In this case...please don't believe it.
    To Katherine: "You go, girl!"

This whole thing is a school play. To manufacture consent to villians in the industry. They WANT YOU TO DEFEND THEM and believe no one. Whether or not he did it. Theres a bigger scheme at play.
#MeToo had a deeper agenda, started by Oprah when Harvey Weinstein was taken down. She was trafficking women to his casting couch. Infamous image of the moment it happened one time to an accuser.
How come Brian Singer never got metooed? There was a documentary on him and Hollywood. Called An Open Secret.
They're throwing him & Andrew Tate, their agents under the bus to manufacture consent. So you agree that rapists and pedos are redeemed. They build up trust with a character & then do this. My opinion about the 10 year old clip is that Catherine McPhee was put in an unexpected situation and she MIGHT have been a bit uncomfortable but she is a professional and she played along with it as much as she was comfortable with the uncomfortable situation. As you mentioned, the headline shot of her face being terrified as she got up, I immediately thought it was because of her skirt and just an immediate panicked reaction to it starting to lift because she was on TV and didn't want anything to be seen. As we all know, a quick skirt mishap will end up on every media tabloid and new station and it takes years before its moved on from. However, she caught it before anything happened and she is able to take her seat and move on with the interview. If anything I believe she might have been less uncomfortable with the interjections from Brand and moreso slightly annoyed as this is her interview and her chance to talk and he is taking away her time. But again she keeps it professional and tries to roll with it as to not make a scene.
Either way, this all ends up not matter or meaning anything because Catherine McPhee herself spoke on the matter and made it clear how she felt in that moment and how she feels now. That is all that matters. Our opinions of the clip and what might or might not have been happening don't matter. Only McPhee and Brand truly know what they each felt and their intentions. If McPhee says it was harmless and she was never uncomfortable who are we to tell her otherwise.

I think the scariest thing isn't just that it appears to be Guilty until proven innocent, its that there is this narrative being pushed (and it happens in other highly publicized cases too) to further prove an individuals guilt and just overload everyone with prove of their guilt. Taking every bit of controversial content the person has ever made and trying to use that as evidence of their guilt.

As a woman, in that kind of situation, I would pull my skirt down to cover myself and say "please, no further", as a protective and defensive measure. And by staying turned away from Russell when sitting in the chair, she is so.ply not giving him any more attention and showing him she's not interested and to do no more. By her shoulder being turned, he can't grab her hands, wrap his arms around her, continue being uncomfortably flirtatious. Been following you for a while now. I love your content, not just because it cues me into other people’s behaviours; but also, as an introvert, your content gives me hints on how to act to convey myself better towards people around me. And I must admit, they have served me well and have helped make me a more effective communicator and team member despite my limited experience and proclivity to remain silent and get lost in my own world.
And right now, in this very moment, I am especially appreciative of the fact that you have become more levelheaded in your analysis of subjects like this and that you try to eliminate as much of your personal biases or your own political bent and just stick to what it is you are best at, which is analysing behavioural cues. It is clear to me, for example, that this topic has struck a chord with you and that the recent action that YT has taken to demonetise your other analysis video on RB would naturally predispose you to, at the very least, tilt more towards the possibility that his take on the matter is really what is happening. But instead of making it about that or making it about you and how these evil social media platforms are colluding with the government to push a narrative and that they are pressuring content creators via threat of cancellation to go along with any said narrative, you instead make it about the truth and how using heavy handed tactics like that can actually decrease the credibility of the narrative and/or allegations. I firmly believe this is the right mode of action and I love that you stick to this with integrity, despite the fact that this current video might also get demonetised and that (tin foil hat on) your channel might get demonetised for not going along with the mainstream narrative. This shows that you are committed to being a true professional and that you will not falsify your own speech or analysis for your own profit or to avoid catching the eye of the proverbial powers that be. And that has earned you a greater respect from people who have been following you for a while, and has also framed you as a person of integrity (which you have always been, anyway) to all the people who are only beginning to discover your wonderful channel.
Keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing more and learning more.

Some time ago, all of a sudden, a bunch of women came together and accused Marilyn Manson of similar acts. After a while, one of these women made a video where she admitted that nothing happened to her. She explained how she was approached and asked to be part of a group of women to accuse him. When she told them that she wasn't a victim, that he never did anything to her, they told her that he must have manipulated her to a point where she now believes that nothing happened to her. They convinced her that even if she didn't feel like she was abused by him, that it was important to be part of that group because this would empower and give a bigger voice to the other victims. So, she accepted but then realised that the one manipulating her wasn't Marilyn Manson but the person who had convinced her to join that group.
I'm not saying that this is the same but again, we have a group of women who, all of a sudden, came together to accuse someone. One woman made a video talking about how they contacted her to tell her story but when she told them that Russell Brand never abused her, they didn't include her testimony.

Loved this! As a woman, it's so easy to project yourself onto Katherine and think she felt violated. Some of us would have felt that way regardless of how playful or innconnet it was intended. *Impact*, afterall, outweighs intent. That said, I completely agree--she *appeared* to be playing along and as if sitting in his lap was her idea. Upon getting up, she was absolutely startled--I know my mind would be wondering if I'll be falling backwards (so the cameras see up my skirt), falling forward (so Russell and Jimmy see up my skirt), that there's an accidental wardrobe malfunction (like my skirt getting caught on Russell some way some how), that my skirt comes up, or if I'll fall (regardless of who sees up skirt) on national television. All that and more would have flashed through my mind in under 0.5 seconds.
Do I think he took liberties in grabbing her by her hips--absolutely. You gotta be cautious doing that with someone you literally just met and have no clue how they may respond to it. Usually, there's some warming up to that point and some testing of the waters, possibly followed by an outright asking of permission.
Ultimately, the impact of everything that transpired in that clip rests with Katherine. If she wasn't, nor isn't, worried about it, then I'm not worried about it. If she felt the opposite then I'll join my voice to hers so her voice is louder if that's what she needs. Or simply hold some space for her.
This isn't to say that someone can't amend what they said/withdraw their statement. Sometimes many moons later, we look back on what happened in an entirely new light. When you're groomed or conditioned to x, y, and z, it will *feel* like it was your decision. Untangling that, if one ever does put in the work to do so, may not happen for years.
As for the allegations against Russell, I have no idea what to think because I've never been aware of Russell's behavior in the past nor in the present. I did not see the documentary or anything else. While I've always known of him, I hardly paid the dude any attention. I didn't even know he had his own youtube or podcast or whatever it is.

He was in USA, and this TV program looks like a form of marketing for these so-called celebrities. I think he only did all his actions in the clip to promote his friendly/fun personality, to make himself more memorable to the viewers and maybe help build his popularity. I don't like or dislike the man, I've never met him in real life, but I wish the media would get off his back and leave it to the police.
The women would have been more credible going straight to the police. At this stage, I think it would benefit him to have the police involved. Once the complaints have been logged, he can hopefully address them one-by-one. I suspect the police will side with the complainents, until they are comfortable with his side of events. What makes me suspicious is if Brand is innocent, then why isn't he bringing libel suits against the media outlets?

Hey Spidey! I am a super fan of you and Russell so this is dream content for me! I did notice the change of studio and also that is side-kick Gareth Roy is missing. Added to this is his subdued clothing. He still has several buttons open but he is wearing a white formal type shirt. All of these things lead me to believe that he is trying to control the situation as much as he can. White formal shirt = seriousness and possibly innocence. Keep up the amazing work!

I believe the studio change and lack of side-kick could be attributed to loss of funding/sponsorship, silencing by the media

Not sure if it is a conscious decision or not, but the color white is associated with things like purity and innocence (think wedding, baptism, angels, etc.), so it would make sense that he is trying to convey a sense of innocence, regardless of if the allegations are true or not.

He hasn’t even been charged with anything. That’s a fact. Content creators should get together, involve their audience and let social media and governments know that they are overstepping their citizens rights. Censorship has never been on the good side of history and they will not limit themselves. Something humanity keeps on forgetting.

Let’s also not forget the times those actions with Katherine were in: a time when people acted more like that, more forward sexually, wolf whistling, flirting etc. Nowadays it’s deemed unacceptable (and yes because I too find it uncomfortable to be on the receiving end of those actions/remarks from someone), but back then it was accepted. So for those who are critiquing that now, maybe think how times have changed, and with it your feelings /own actions around this sort of stuff. If it was accepted back then, it can’t be criticised now, as it was ACCEPTABLE then. Move on with the times…

@@dangrimes6200 Thank you for reminding me of that term! I have suffered sporadic bouts of frustration when this situation has come up because I could not recall that term. I could have Googled it, but that felt like giving this absurdity more attention than it deserved. Instead, I have used the term 'arrogance' and, when feeling extra wordy, ‘chronological bigotry’. If I’m not mistaken there is also a word for imposing the subjective cultural beliefs on those in another culture… Similar intellectual defect in my opinion. Both are bigotry because the perpetrators tend to refuse logical and anchor to the misappropriated concept.

Love your videos, Spidey :D regarding the Jimmy Fallon show, i think that Kathrine, like many women, have a "get out of the situation while smiling" response to this kind of behaviour. It is not that uncommon, especially 10 years ago that this was acceptable behaviour.. so it can be brushed off like nothing, but that does not condone his behaviour. Many People are not capable of saying No or react the way they want to in this kind of situation. Just wanted to put that out there :)

There have been discussions on other channels (Shaun Attwood is one) where it has been thought that Channel 4 sought out these women to intentionally blow up the story so that it would never go to trial because they are covering their own butts regarding something bigger.
      Food for thought.

Thank you for this video Spidey, it's so important to speak on this subject in this objective way and thatnk you for speaking up. Judging from all that has been said in the media about him, it's like the man is already convicted without a trial, demonetized as if he was found guilty in court. This makes no sense. Who are these women and why did they go to media before they went to court? The timing of it all is just weird. Let's see how it plays out.
