GnR's "Estranged" will take you on a journey.
Now THAT’S a song.
Live pleaseeee
One of the reasons why it's my favorite song.
LFR JOJO, please do Locomotive by GNR!!!!! Best song ever
Oh yeah! Slash's guitar is amazing on Estranged
Civil War of one of the best overall songs in rock history. Lyrically, cadence, the acoustic, the solos, everything. Check out GNR's Patience.
He did Patience..check it out!
THE VOICE
That first line of the acustic guitar!!
@@aleteiki4686 Vocals really epic in this too. This song is almost perfect
Agreed
This song should be mandatory in history classes. It will ALWAYS be relevant.
Agreed. Educate the youth with meaningful history and warnings of why we should never repeat atrocities.
I don’t think he’s ready for the It’s So Easy MV, though. I’m patiently waiting.
SO TRUE.
Amen!
Also your Beauty C G
This is my favorite GnR song - it is criminally underrated!
Agreed definitely my favourite ! ✌️🇬🇧
Always been my favorite song. I remember buying Illusion 1&2 on the day they came out, and listening to this song over and over again. Great reaction!!
Me too. What a message.
I love it but it's not underrated. It's probably the most famous song on uyi 2
Underrated????? Sold millions. I wish I had an underrated song like that. Everybody knows this track
"What's so civil about war anyway" ♥
What’s so holy about war anyway?
@@MattSkosh Killing for religion - something I don't understand
Man, I’ve been listening to GNR for over 30 years and I absolutely love seeing the younger generation react to this shit! Amazing reaction dude. Loved it 🙌🏻
Use Your Illusion I & II
Slash: I’m gonna need at least two solos per song, probably more
🤣😂🤣
I’m not arguing! Slash is epic
That’s just his blues influences coming through. Blues guitarists do a call and response with the singer a lot of the time. Where it’s almost 2 voices telling the story.
Estranged is kind of a long amazing solo all along the song, and too wonderful
The line in this song about THE HUMAN GROCERY STORE always gets me.
Everyone's just bought and sold.
Or that he could live off the land if there was a civil war, but he don't want to.
thats one of my favorite lines of the songs...
I love that libe too, great lyrics on this song.
I love that line and "it feeds the rich and buries the poor" too, really great, powerful lyrics on this song.
@@MusicLover-dt7ic the whole song is about the profiteering of war and how the poor of society pays for it.
Jojo, I recommend you take some time and listen or read the lyrics. This song is jam-packed with a message and historic events.
Guns n Roses is my all time favorite band!!!!
Have you heard Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the conspirators? Look up Anastasia
@@plandscapesoh9702 I have. Anastasia is one of my favorite hard rock songs of all time!!!
"When they shot the man who said peace could last forever" is such a powerful lyric. Those that want peace never seem to get to experience it.
Who said that, Martin Luther King Jr, perhaps?
@@lisafanninghowe Here is what Duff said: "Basically it was a riff that we would do at sound-checks. Axl came up with a couple of lines at the beginning. And... I went in a peace march, when I was a little kid, with my mom. I was like four years old. For Martin Luther King. And that's when: "Did you wear the black arm band when they shot the man who said: 'Peace could last forever'?" It's just true-life experiences, really"
@@robertramirez64 yes I read that too, but truly. MLK,Jr did say this.
MLK/JFK
Alright so the strongest line imo of this song is “and history hides the lies of our civil wars..” and yes my friend slash is the guitarist! DEEP SONG!!
Yeah for me is "you can't trust freedom when it's not in your hands"
This is a lyrically brilliant song
This is an everything brilliant song.
@@Allanfan20 I was about to say this.
"Power hungry, selling soldiers in a human grocery store.......aint that fresh?"...... What a line.
Saul "Slash" Hudson is a Living Legend. One of the best and most talented Guitarist the world will ever know.
This song still is true "look at the hate we're breeding" we need to wake up, two steps forward ten steps back
Guns n Roses Night train is great!!!
9 and a half minutes in you told rap artists to start sampling these rock beats... I see a young man who could lead the way doing that when I watch your videos. Watching you enjoy this music reminds me of when I heard at the first time in the 80s & 90s… Glad to see you enjoy it too.
Very underrated song with one of the best lyrics ever. It's cool you reacted to it.
Did my own small bit of research on wiki just now...From Duff McKagan: I went in a peace march, when I was a little kid, with my mom. I was like four years old. For Martin Luther King. And that's when: "Did you wear the black arm band when they shot the man who said: 'Peace could last forever'?" It's just true-life experiences, really.
It -is- a very political song, a very powerful message, and just as true today as when it was written. You touched on it a bit in your reaction, but really dig into the lyrics on another listen and you’ll feel it even more.
When i hear it, I have tears because I m feeling deeply the lyrics....
If you've never seen Cool Hand Luke, watch that movie. The quote from the beginning of the song is lifted from the it. It's a fantastic film.
That movie makes me so angry that I can't watch it too often, but you're right, it is a fantastic film.
@@professionalvampire1 I especially like the song when Luke’s mother died.
Just happened to come across the movie on Netflix as I was browsing few weeks and decided to check it out. It didn’t disappoint. And when the warden said those lines, I was like this is where that quote on Civil War is from!!
@@tinypurplefishesrunlaughin8052 Paul Newman "Plastic Jesus" on youtube everyone my age knows the movie but not the song!
And that...was the last studio recording of the original Guns lineup
Had a few civil wars of their own.
@@charliemac64 Ha! Lessons learned. Even they couldn't avoid it....
Didn’t know that... crazy.
Sadly, Steven Adler had departed before use your illusion. He left In 1990. "Original lineup" appetite for destruction and GNR Lies.
@@Codenameitalian they recorded Civil War before Adler departed - only song he plays on for UYI
OK.. I just gotta say it... YOU HAVE THE INNER SPIRIT OF A ROCKER! You need some guitar solos in RAP like Rage Against The Machine does.
there are no music like this no more...such art and story telling..
There is plenty of music like this now, you must just not be finding it
@@patrickgermain2507 give me an example
@@NoYouAreNotDreaming Sam Fender, different sound (more indie/alternative rock, so I don't know if that's something you'd enjoy) but some great story telling!
The beginning of this song was on every other person's answering machine.
Clip from Cool Hand Luke.
@@adamfike9730 yeah
Answering machine what's that?
Wait really? I lived through that and never knew! How did I miss that? Hilarious.
@@mangerinegirl my answering machine had Willie Nelson singing “What was it you wanted?” 🎶
"Rappers need to start sampling some of these rock beats"
Time for you to start reacting to some Beastie Boys my friend!
Make some noise ... the 20 Minute extended version. MUST !!!
I'm a huge Rhcp fan I bet he would like them.
Or maybe time for rappers to come up with their own fucking melodies instead of copy paste 30 year old riffs
Guns n Roses cures my depression and Axenity
Axl Rose saved my life his hole band saved my life.
You today: Shaking your head violently to Slash's solo. You in 30 years, seeing the doctor for neck pains
Definitely worth it though
Locomotive will show you Axl’s vocal dominance like no other song.
Also shows young slash best guitar work, its continuous slight changes in riffs and chords and chord changes
And Coma
I love that the guitar somehow actually SOUNDS like a train! So genius.
@@nuttinbutmusic3383 absolutely...slash as always played out of his skin with that intro....some of his live spots with locomotive are rare but awsome!
Also love the play on words with “loco motive”!
Axl Rose is a genius lyricist and composer. The mark of a truly great song is it’s timelessness. This is one of the best rock songs ever written on many levels. I’m glad you found it.
Haven't listened to this song in years, still straight up goosebumps.
Cheers for the trip down memory lane, and for the joy of seeing a young guy feeling this magic, and actually *listening* to lyrics ( I appreciate seeing such intelligent reactions to music. )
Much love, from Australia xx
Just one thing to put in mind..NEVER PAUSE A GNR SONG
ayO thats true
Yup. If I pause one I always have to start over from the beginning.

What you said about the solos is why music these days are so bland there is no chemistry between the people making the music. when you listen to rock you can feel the chemistry of the band and how much work and thought goes into writing, recording and performing a song
I guess that's the difference between getting in a room with your mates and hammering stuff out and getting a human connection rather than sitting at a computer dragging, dropping, cutting and pasting.
You talk as if there's no more rock music being made nowadays.
When most musical groups and or just musicians write their music, most bands get together and create the whole ensemble together. It's a progression. The lyrics may be written already, or they come as its being composed! Either way they all come up with the way the finished product is assembled! They don't have a beat or music necessarily to just throw lyrics over the top! True musicianship is ebbing and flowing with your bandmates to create something beautiful or something that hits home like this song!
this song is a masterpiece
The intro is from the 1967 Paul Newman movie Cool Hand Luke! It is the warden speaking after Luke Jackson (Newman) was captured after a failed prison escape.
I am sure it was another prisoner speaking. The leading guard was a cruel jailor and that was what he was talking about.
Great movie.
@@gm2407 czcams.com/video/452XjnaHr1A/video.html The wardens speech!

GNR = Everything that’s important in music!!!!! They were all about everything that was/and is important in life till today. GNR was an extremely important voice of the generation to explain what was important in the world news, at the time! It is extremely important that the younger generation learn from the generations before. As Motley Crue did the same, GNR took it to a whole never level. That’s why, today, their songs are still important!! But all of GNR’s music meant something important. Axel wrote all their most popular hits from things he went through as a child. Anytime they had a big hit, it was Axel who was the 1 who wrote the songs. Any breakup, f’n new hit song. Just for a brief backstory, Axel did have a VERY hard life. He was a child prodigy on the piano at the age of 3. He had sexual abuse as a very, very young child, and obviously never got over it. Would you?? That’s why all of their “greatest hits” were from Axel’s experiences as a child. In the industry, Axel was considered a diva, but no, it was from his experiences of life. Axel had a 6 octave voice (for a man, unheard of), and could play the piano and other instruments to the point of ridiculousness. Sad story, but made him a legend. Love ❤️❣️💕💓💖💘, love, love me some Axel Rose, and of course the rest of GNR (ah, Slash!!!). Slash is on the list of the TOP 5 guitarists of ALL TIME, OF ALL TIME people!!!!. Top 5 people from the 60’s until now. Think about that. That’s completely incredible and sick!! Glad you can appreciate GNR ❤️💜🧡🖤💛💚💙💔🤎!!!
Slash is top 20 maybe I could put 5 people better than him up there
first of all its spelled axl not axel, secondly it was both izzy stradlin and axl rose who wrote the songs half of their hits were written by izzy
Civil War is a masterpiece that still gives me chills to this day.
Their blue album and their yellow album, was a "must have" for someone who was a teenager in the 90's like me🔥🔥 what's so civil about war anyway? Simple and brillant 😊
I love that young people are listening to this music. GnR will always be relevant, most of their songs have a message, tbis one in particular.
I'm a guitar player. Solos do have a mathematical element to them, knowing which note to start and stop on and how it coincides with the chord changes. Once you learn these roadmaps, it takes a great deal of time and hitting the wrong notes to make them sound this good.
Id highly recommend reading up on Slash in your spare time, he's got a story to tell.
I was 16 when this was released in 91, used to listen to these two albums every day. the same year my uncle was over in Iraq with the British army, tanks. I've not made that connection before now. I think this song helped form my opinion of war, I was and still am proud of my uncle but never want to see him in anything like that again.
Bro, check out either 'locomotive' or 'You could be mine' by guns n roses or, if you want a real treat for the ears, 'double talking jive' but find a live version! Reccomend either Chicago 92 or Tokyo 92! All long but totally worth it!
💯 Locomotive,
Double Talkin Jive Tokyo '92,
also Nightrain Live at the Ritz '88
You Could Be Mine music video with Arnold on it. it's fucking perfect
Don't Damn me.
double talking jive has my favorite guitar riff about halfway through ! after "you know what i'm saying...?"
I’m so glad you heard this song. It was instrumental to Gen X and sadly still defining today.
another really good band is scorpions. they do it all from legendary classic rock to all in hard rock. they are worth it
The vocals on "This I Love" will make your jaw drop.
Absolutely love This I Love
Amazing song one of my favourites from them, so underrated.
This I love is amazing
Someone recently said that wars are declared by men too old to fight in them.
That's on purpose. Keep the young men fighting each other so they don't turn on the old men
Our wars since world war 1 have been all about money and to kill off generations of strong and masculine men who would be the future leaders so we would have a future of weakness
Being able to remember an 8 minute song note for note is quite easy if you practice the song and when playing live, Slash would not always play the exact same solo, and would improvise often and change things up.
It’s cool that you are digging into my favorite band. Since I was a youngin. This song is one of my favorite.
Estranged
Coma
Locomotive
Get in the Ring
14 years
Please and thank you.
No one else has done civil war that I've seen so great work on deep diving.
"Get in the ring" unusual song, lyrics, structure, and vocal delivery. Unique composition.
This is the last song that original drummer Steven Adler recorded with the band before being removed from the group due to his drug issues. The story goes, he needed like fourteen takes and then Duff (the bass player) and one of the engineers spent like an entire day in the studio to splice the drum tracks together to get one track that they could use for the song. It's a sad story how Steven got kicked out of the band and what happened to him afterwards. He was already a heavy drug user but it got worse because he was depressed after being kicked out of GnR.
But if you've seen any recent videos of Steven today, he's actually one of the most humble and down-to-earth and amazing people out of the original five members. I met him at one of his band's shows a few years back and he's a great person. He's totally sober and clean today, just has a few lingering health issues from so many years of drug abuse. He's not the most technical or best or fastest drummer you'll ever hear, but his sound is so iconic (Appetite for Destruction) and his style so groovy, he plays with a nice swing in his playing. Even his band's new songs, you just know it's him playing. GnR still had some banging tracks without him behind the drums, but I would love to see him behind the kit with them again. He was that iconic sound to me.
I love that you're doing this. I've been a GNR fan for 30 years. I wish I could get my kids( who are your age) to dive into their material.
Man, love watching your reactions... Makes me wish I could experience hearing those songs for the first time again
That's what was cool about growing up in the 70's & 80's
Hahaha, love it! I remember buying this CD (Full set) when it released years ago, and it's still one of the best albums I've ever heard, stert to finish. Great reaction, and thanks for the upload!
My nextdoor neighbor had it on cassette and let me listen. First hearing Civil War got me hooked and then I went and bought Use Your Illusion 2.
I've heard this song tons of times, but watching you react gives me goosebumps. Makes me appreciate it all over again. Thanks!
😁 Reminds me being 15 again when this came out and me blasting this double album out full blast in my parents house hehehe epic tune
You know a song is lit when it is spitting facts and also a musical masterpiece
How the hell did you know i was binging GnR "civil war" last night? This timing is insane
bingeing*
Use your Illusion 1 & 2 were amazing albums. Loved them so much when they came out.
Solos usually come from practicing & improving riffs, broken into pieces, layered, then played thru. It’s a very very difficult thing to make it memorable, and Slash is one of the best. You picked a great song to think about this.
It's refreshing to see a young buck listening to and enjoying music from the past even if it may not be from their preferred genre. Respect my dude.
I apsoluty love this song, and the lyrics are so deep and truthful, "what's so civil about war anyway" may God bless America and stay safe everyone
That lit drummer is mr Steven popcorn Adler, unfortunately his last recording with the band
Yup... even though it was in the Illusion 2 album, Adler contributed to the drumming in this one
Yup
I remember years ago, seeing him on Celebrity Rehab. He’d had a stroke from all the heavy drug use by then. I remember him saying something about his being replaced by Matt Sorum-I felt really bad for him, you could tell how much it hurt him.
Check out live and let die or AC/DC back in black
Young man, you warmed my 40 yr old heart today.
I saw Gn'R when I was 11 and it was my first concert.
I'm glad to see young blood finding and appreciate it now.
Enjoy, friend.
I was so jealous and happy watching u react to this for the first time! Masterpiece!!
4 words: “Get In The Ring”!!
Please react to it I think you’d actually like it
the solo's are telling the same story as the word parallels to the lyrics, the genius is there in the touch of the guitar player and their sound engineering abilities . but mostly based on the guitar player's emotions and skills to tune them into the flow of the song.
Exactly.
I love watching your reactions. I think it's probably how I looked and felt when I first heard them as a teenager in 91'
"Hope this song is good". Man, this is song os beyond good: it's a masterpiece
Next up...NIGHT TRAIN or MR. BROWNSTONE
Night Train
Either one. Definitely. Both. Then Locomotive.
Love Mr brownstone
Guns N Roses have one helluva catalog to dive into. I could make an argument that this is their best song they ever wrote. They did a killer job on this song live. I saw them support Use Your Illusion albums and Soundgarden opened for them. Killer show that didn't end until like 1-1:30 in the morning.
I get so overwhelmed by talent & beauty it leaks back to me.
The whistling in the beginning is called When Johnny Comes Marching Home. A popular song from the American Civil War in the 1860s
Might as well try Knockin On Heavens Door (actually a Bob Dylan cover) released on this same album. Another great song
Please do “ It’s so easy”
And Mr Brownstone
There is one on Mr. Brownstone
"Some men you just can't reach."
Well, I am glad Guns N' Roses reached you.
As a military veteran this song resonates with me in a different way it did when I first heard it as a kid.
You should react to Knockin' on Heaven's Door and My Michelle by GNR!!
Yay!! Love this song!! Can you do their song It's So Easy, Night Train, or Mr. Brownstone next? Great song pick and reaction!! 🙂
thank you so much for these reaction videos. ive wanted rappers and rockers to merge since i was 13. I dont think people realize just how much we have in common lyrically. sometimes i hear tupac quotes in some of my favorite rock songs. epic channel bro!
im an oldies fan so anything pre 2000 is my jam. rock, rap, pop, you name it i love it all.
This song will stand true to the end of time.
Last song recorded with original line up, fun fact. Gotta react to Shadow of Your Love by them next!
He didn’t write those solos, he felt them.
Oh my God son where have you been. Guns n' roses is one of the best bands of the century probably in the top five. Anyway I was there and it was so spiritual so amazing I will never ever forget. My soul has been touched.
LOVE LOVE LOVE your stop at 8:50 to talk about how most rap is deficient to really good rock in that it lacks an appreciative level of musical complexity. You are correct good sir. Great rock bands could switch a song around 4 or 5 times(or more) within the same song to create a feeling that you were on a musical journey of discovery. Buy the ticket take the ride it was truly an orgasm for the ears, mind, and soul.
PS - Please review Guns N' Roses - Used to Love Her. Rock on young man.
Walk this Way. by Steven Tyler and Run DMC that is what you are talking about
Do something that no one else has done. Guns n Rose's " Locomotive " Its a kick ass song.
PLEASE I BEG, ITS MY FAVORITE SONGGGGGGGGGGG!!!! Every time i have baseballl or go karting i have this song as the first song i listen to
Totally agree. I love that song. Slash’s riff is awesome.
It is a great song but tbh. I think he needs to listen to more ”Main stream” Guns before he will appreciate the less popular songs like Locomotive. However Locomotive is fantastic!
I remember when Use Your Illusion 1 & 2 broke. First time listening was like wtf! Both albums are fantastic! Rock on G'NR!
These are my friends and they have been right for years @LEF Jojo keep in mind as well when the tune came out also. We have been standing for all for years. Right on, It's amazing some people have an open mind and finally understand us rockers and what we stand for. I came across this show accidentally as my friends daughter said aunt---- watch this. No we do not need a ciliv war Ax isn't down with that what so ever. Im glad she turned me on to this show. Right on playing just comes natural to some of us and we all make a statement. Im a women in rock and proud as hell to take a stand myself! THE TRUTH HURTS MANY FOOL'S. I love this kid! Right on! Great Riff and tune to mix with a Rapper, I now Ax well enough to say he'd do it in a second, he lived through hell himself! Im so happy you understand this and our world. Keep up the good work Im subscribing to your show I have to pass this around our world. Right on
I really like your enthusiasm for this kind of music, did you try Iron Maiden already?
Axl Rose was the biggest rebel in rock n roll bro!!!
Simply Best band EVER. 🤘🏻 🤘🏻
Yes! Exactly! Love you and the fam. Stay safe, stay healthy
as you seem to love their heavy shit, then soon your gonna hit "its so easy" & lose your mind. thats gotta be their nastiest track of all.
Yeah I asked for that one, too. Guns in all their debauchery. But don’t think he’s ready for that music video. Apparently we weren’t because they waited like 20 years to release it lol
“You ain’t got nothing better to do, and I’m bored.”

*sad lars noises*
Tbf lars is a great drummer just an unlikeable prick
This song is So incredibly relevant right now.
