Just hearing this song after all this time and knowing how relevant is was then and how relevant it still is is the saddest thing... we’ve made NO strides forward, we keep going backwards, if you’re reading this, young or old, black or white or red or even green, no matter what language you speak or where you’re from if you’re reading this... I love you ❤️
Peace & Respect
ONE LOVE
Respect Wendy Reveyoso. Kudos.
Sometimes I hear people saying, 'Nothing has changed.' Come and walk in my shoes. -John Lewis
RESPECT
i guess Im randomly asking but does someone know of a method to get back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me
The song that they were whistling in the beginning was an old civil war song called "When Johnny Comes Marching Home"
Johnny Joester ???
Which was based on an old Irish song called 'Johnny I hardly knew ya'. The Clash also based their 'English Civil War' on this.
The speech at the start was from a movie called Cool Hand Luke starring Paul Newman :) Great reaction keep on with these reactions Sir :)
Cool Hand Luke is a must watch, my favorite movie of all time
Classic movie too!
No man can eat 50 eggs
Hey boy did you put your dirt in my ditch
That Luke was a natural born earth shaker.
You know why i always watch your reaction videos? Because you not only appreciate the singers but you hear the base and musician ship of what's going on.
Civil War in my book is the best song thzt Guns N Roses ever done
This song just spitting facts all throughout
Patience, Live & Let Die, November Rain.....
These too ^^ but i have to toss Civil war as the greatest of them all, it just hits every part of the soul.
@@taylornox almost every song of appetite for destruction is better then this in my opinion (because im biased af) but this song, Coma and patience are fucking bangers.
@@SBM-wl6mn Yeah, they are all so good, i wouldnt argue if you picked any of the other tbh.
@@taylornox real G
It’s such a fantastic song, I remember being 14 when this song came out and just being so stunned by it that I listened to it about 100 times in the month the album came out! It still sounds so fresh now. It’s just so well constructed with both lyrics and music. They were such a clever band, so tight.
Your reaction at the end was very well said.
Use Your Illusion 1 & Use Your Illusion 2 which this song is from
are both Master pieces .... I remember when these albums were released at the same time in 1991
& the tour that supported it.... what a juggernaut!! All songs still sound relevant today 29 years later.
UYI 2
My favorite rock song of all time here! So very underrated! Great reaction bro👍🔥
It hits me hard in the chest to see people of another race explore, respect and even love the music that has moved me and even carried me through every emotion I've ever felt and beyond. I enjoy all good music, talent, art... anything that captivates the soul somehow whether instrumental or lyrical. I believe it's the love for all good music that inspires those who can to forever evolve the way it's expressed. Me personally, I love heavy metal riffs and solos to a hip hop style beat with raspy flow... like Biohazard and Onyx did "Judgement night" for the same titled movie. Try it out!
Proof they were not just another hair band
Agree 100%, gnr is for real on that era,
Definitely not, Axl was a fantastic lyricist, and they were what a rock band on steroids should sound like!
Steve Coogler I knew that the second I heard the first album.
@@susanmaggiora4800 hell yeah brother, best album of all time tbh.
Appreciate this man saving his comments at the end of the song. Not interupting every 20 seconds. Felt like we jammed together. Appreciate it, and your comments after were 👍👍
Lyrically this is their best song by miles
Bloody right.
won't ever not be relevent
@@Robmlufc And that is the saddest thing ever.
@@AugieDoggyDooFacts brother, only shows that these politicians don't give a damn about us.
@hunterlinkous 100% is true, and it's a travesty. The lyrics hit really hard. Great song, but it's hard to hear once you really get it.
This is my favorite GnR song, topically and musically. That whistling is "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" methinks. So many cool elements here...
Slash is so melodic and expressive with his guitar. My fav rock guitarist.
You could be mine - Guns n Roses
Get in the Ring - Guns n Roses
Guns kicks the stones right in the nads, Mick you can't hold a candle.
Should check out “Estranged”. Another amaaaaaazing GnR tune that never got the attention and credit it truly deserved. I don’t know why....it’s such a legendary tune. Slash is just insane with his solos, the melodies he plays in that song are so unique and utterly brilliant.
Last song Steven Adler played on before the band kicked him. Such an amazing drummer who couldn’t kick his demons. He’s worked hard to get back to being able to play consistently.
The billions shift from side to side...
FUCKING SPECTACULAR LYRICS !
“We haven’t had a war since WWII.”
Guy, the US has spent more time AT war than away from war in the past 80 years.
We have probably spent more time in some kind of military active confrontation than not in one for the totality of our history. We really like fighting apparently.
It is from "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" and the movie is probably Die Hard: With a Vengeance (the hold up scene)
Love their references to Ghandi, Kennedy and MLK Jr.
This is one of their more lyrical songs. This song is fantastic.
This song was fire when it came out. The peak of their career in my opinion.
Everybody left the band after, and during this album.
This song was recorded and sent to radio in between albums. It was included on Use your Illusion but it was not from those recording sessions.
Hi Rokk, you absolutely right, the band just split after this. But the real reason behind is very scary. They were told , ,, do not write or play such songs anymore or else ,, And that was not told by the music Executives. Scary is it ?
It was quite literally the peak of their popularity and then they immediately dissolved.
@@bubamaranovichok4901 that’s completely nonsense. They split because everyone in the band had finally had enough of Axl
I love GN´R since 1989, imagine what they mean to me. Through depression, divorces...they have always been there. I love your reaction, you are amazing. They wrote other awesome lyrics such as: Coma, Breakdown, Estranged, Locomotive, Get in the ring. Hope you love GN´R because they have been the representation of raw music and raw beauty. Warm hug!
Mike Clink produced this while he produced Megadeth's Rust In Peace at the same time. "Holy Wars". Killer albums
Bro you figured two things out right away...👌🏻 The opening monologue is from a good movie called “Cool Hand Luke” & the whistling is interpolating the theme of “Johnny Comes Marching Home”. Impressed you recognized right away! Guns kills it & this is an amazing track!
that beginning is from the 1967 movie 'Cool Hand Luke" starring Paul Newman
That has to be one of the most famous set of lines in movie history! IMO
Just freakin 🔥. The lyrics though....damn.
Right on bro.....been asking for this one!....Thank you, truth now more than ever! Your spot on man, will always believe that music is the peoples power
Iconic song by a Iconic band I was lucky to see them in the early days twice absolute talent the lyrics to this song is as real as it gets BEST SONG BY GNR
Jay, you are the best reactor on YT and I listen to a lot of em. How in tha hell you don’t have hundreds of thousands of subs I don’t know. I appreciate ya bro. Keep doin your thang my man!
Jay Rah; I'm with Michael Todd on that! How you don't have 100s of thousands of subs is a mystery to many folks? Maybe youtube playing favorites, but I'll leave that alone. You're very knowledgeable, insightful, and most of all honest, that said. out of many reactors I've checked out, you're definitely my fav; your enthusiasm is so real and there again, HONEST! You'll get there, cause you deserve it! So Keep Do What You Do brother man... Take care, be safe, I know you are. We need more peoples in this world like you. Peace
This will always be my favorite GNR song.🤘✌💣💥🇨🇦🎤💧
You are not alone bro!!!
The whistle is to (Johnny comes marching home) and the speech in the beginning is from a movie called Cool hand luke i think
Guns is awesome, so many great songs, some of my faves:
Mr Brownstone
It's So Easy
Night Train
Anything Goes
Estranged
Coma
Double Talkin Jive
Locomotive
Pretty Tied Up
somehow I messed up my post so I had to edit it, now makes sense, sorry bout that.
Guns m roses another legendary band
Your thoughts you shared after the song are spot on man. "What's so civil about war anyway?"
So, so much of what GnR did still holds up - lyrically and musically.
Slash... true rock star, got the licks and the look. Great band, lot of great songs
Great reaction, but it's closer to the truth to say that we've been in constant war since WWII
I love that you listened to this true and great song with us. Thanks
Paradise City by GNR is a must.
The quote in the beginning is from the film, "Cool Hand Luke". It's a classic and a high recommend.
When Johnny Comes Marching Home and the movie is Cool Hand Luke with Paul Newman.
Amazing song. I’d recommend November Rain by them.
Great reaction! 😍 Thank you! 🙌
First time that I have checked out your channel. As someone who does online music curation, I have to say that this single video has made you one of my top five reaction channels. Eloquent, and well thought- out. Thank you.
Awesome monologue at the end of the video.
“Wars been going since the first guy said ‘fuck you I want that’” 🤣🤣🤣
I would dive right into "Use You're Illusion" both albums. Lot's of Good tune's.
That was their downfall. They put 10+ no1 hits on 2 albums and nothing they made after could measure up. Dont cry, estranged, november rain, civil war, live and let die, garden of eden, coma, yesterdays, knocking on heavens doors, you could be mine...
More Guns.n' Roses baaaaaaby.
Song is spot on ,no matter where you live on this planet the words are spot on
My mind runs through the sound memory to figure out what's going on in the background same way you did with the whistling.
I never noticed the whistle is the “when Johnny comes marching home” until you noticed it.
The whistling is part of the Battle Hymn of the Republic
Just want to say I enjoy your reactions more than any others.. I think it's great how you feel the music, it's a gift and a passion I understand :) Thanks so much for the videos friend!
First time seeing your channel. Awesome 1st song. I was in 10th grade when this was released. It's really great to see that something so relevant then, is changing minds now
Big hello from Australia... Your vid turned up on my recommended. Keep on rockn' my man
Great insight and really liked your video!
Great reaction, agree with what you said at the end.
So very relevant to this very day.
Awesome song! Genuine reaction, good insights. I enjoyed this.
The amazing song never heard it before thank you for introducing. Much love greets from Russia
Spot On, Brother! Peace Out.....Rock On Beyond
Great reaction!! Just found your channel...subbed🙂
Totally agree about the last 'war' being WW2
Mtv, declared them the monsters of rock, when I was a teen.
First time seeing one of your reactions. I appreciated it - smart and heartfelt. I heard this song before i went to Iraq back in the early, bloody days of the war. I really listened to it after I came home.
Paradise City by GnR is really the song you should check out.
Lol paradise city is repeated 26x in the song
@@deadeyetopher8621 the video has over 550 million views. I'd say it's a pretty good fucking song, however many times they say it.
Yes it is ! I like almost all there songs ! When I saw them even though axios voice was bad his performance was great! THE ROCKED!
Axl and they rocked ! Hate auto correct!
This is there best fantastic lyrics
Right on Jay Jay! ... the lyrics
This is so relavent today, not necessarily the physical aspect but more like the divisiveness. "Some men you just can't reach". So true.
Great song so many other gems on the double album Use your illusions
How badass is Slash? The man's a God! I think he was with a guitar in his hands. This song is like 30 years old but it could've been written yesterday the way it relates to the world today. I wish you would check out Coma. An absolute masterpiece!!!
I was in the army vfw when i was younger, before I figured it out, you are telling it how it is no doubt.
Johnny comes marching home is the whistling... The man speaking in the beginning is from Cool Hand Luke
Great reaction...great song!!
Props to you as you said something I've never ever thought of. This song came out when I was a teen 30 years ago or more. Heard it many times but I have never tied that prelude whistling to that old time marching song. Even old dogs learn from the young. Thank you sir.
That outro of yours. Loved it. Much respect.
War is a racket. Smedley Butler. As a US Spec Ops vet, i fucking agree 100% wholeheartedly. INCLUDING WW2, and WW1.
The whole GWOT was a fucking lie and so was 9/11. I used to get mad when people said that. THEN I DID MY DUE DILIGENCE after getting shot twice and nearly bleeding out and losing over 20 friends in combat.
Whoa man, Thank you for your service and your comment. People need to hear from people like you so they can hear the real truth. Thank you again. I'm happy you know the truth and sad that you paid the price for it. I will always be appreciative. Have a blessed day.
Absolutely brilliant band
Pelos de punta con ésta canción...
Viva GnF’R.
Ur actually a fellow musician i can tell. And review the music. Subscribing
Super 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Lyrics 💗💗and Very Powerful!!!
Listened to this 3X form 9:25. Well put and spot on!
Another old school group I think you like is the Allman Brothers. Whipping Post.
Words of wisdom young man. Check out Black Sabbath- War Pigs. Deep message.✌
Yes another powerful song
Best GnR song. By far
Jay Rah Visions. I recommend Guns & Roses - November Rain (a song about finding love only to lose it in the blink of an eye). Don't Cry (a song about suicide), and Welcome to the Jungle (a song about going out west to get started in Hollywood and all the pitfalls)
My baby was in Afgh. and you are right he came home messed up. PTSD He says he remembers ever face of the people he killed.
Lol, the saints come marching in.
GnR was ahead of their time with this song. Unfortunate to say that this song is still true to this day. Regardless of what side of politics you’re on, the division in this country just seems to continue growing. People say history repeats itself if you don’t learn from it so let’s all hope we don’t end up in a civil war. Never forget the words “United we stand, divided we fall.”
Love this songs man guns and roses one of the best that's ever taken the stage
Spot on! That's the naratif 😎
We're living it axel
The lyrics. Don't have songs like this anymore.
Slash definitely speaks with his guitar on this track
Fucking preach!! I love what you said after I totally 100% agree with you your view is on point well done much love from Nz!
he does all the whistling in all the songs himself
Great to listen to your analysis of this song. I especially liked 11.34 thank you
This is it💥💥💥💥💥
