    I am a person with an eclectic taste in music as I love music of different genres like Jazz, Celtic music, Carnatic, Kathakali songs and Western Classical music. But let me say in all my humility that the musician who has blessed my life forever with his singing is Pandit Mallikarjun Mansur. My adoration of him has no bounds.Not a single day passes without listening to at least one of his songs (my favouites are Gandhari Todi , Shivmat Bhairav and Bahaduri Todi ) .I consider him as one of the greatest vocalists in any language in any part of the world. My imponderable thanks to Naveen for this precious upload. May we discover and share more of his recorded music here for posterity to listen and enjoy.

    The first bandish is penned by Alladiya Khan. When Mallikarjun Mansur sings bihagda he sings to his gurus. That is why it becomes so touching to our hearts. He repays his debts to them through it. And he has done it to the fullest extent.

    I consider it a great privilege to have watched it.....After near-fatal ailment that Panditji had, he performed at several concerts before his demise after 6 months. The one at Delhi is considered as his last by many.
    The great man shows no signs of fatigue, and full of vigour and vitality.
    Million thanks Naveen for such wonderful treat.

    This is divine music of India for you. Honed over the millenniums, nurtured by great masters, passed though the generations by their pupils, and presented to the listener in its purest form. The singer is singing a composition by his Gurus guru. His pouring his soul out and invoking the supreme being with in which he has now assimilated. Just put your headphones on, and travel with the way he takes you over the swing.

A great Naad emanates from his rendition which resonates in ears.. Not experienced this with anyone else. I think he communicates directly with god through his music. It comes to you like waves of sea which come to the shore continuously.

    • @autobotftwww
      @autobotftwww Před 8 lety +1

      +Harish Chinai Mallikarjun Mansur had at least two disciples who were more than ordinary. One is Panchakshari Mattigatti, you can listen to a couple of clips of his on youtube. The other is Sidharam Jambaladini, his main disciple. AIR supposedly released two of his khayal performances from its archives but I have not encountered them. You can find some vachana recordings of him with Mallikarjun Mansur more easily on the internet but its still a trial.
      Mattigatti is a good performer, I have not heard enough to call him great but he brings a unique musicality to Mansurs particular (and wonderful) take on Jaipur-Atrauli gayaki. At any rate he is a thousand times better than Rajshekhar Mansur, who should restrict himself to teaching this art.

    A few observations:
    I wonder why Rajsekharji is not around whereas panditji's most trusted accompanist Ustad Faiyaaz Khanji is immersed in playing.
    I thank Naveenji for sharing this great concert. Panditji appears to be vivacious and seems to enjoy himself, as usual. I believe there was another one after this, at his home (Mrityunjaya, how aptly coined name!) in Dharwad.
    I thank Warrenji for opening his private archives on "You Tube" to disseminate Panditji's music early on. Warren you can truly call him "Bua".
    In the following, I present my best effort in terms of identifying Panditji's music. Needless to say, all of the bandishes are well-known bandishes of Jaipur-Athrauli.
