- I end up picking up a 2-stoke cs200 motorcycle for $50 from craigslist. This bike was sitting for over 16 years. Can we get it to run and save this vintage motorcycle? #Yamaha, #2stoke, #Motorcycle,

Nice love the dirtbike content
Great videos! Keep em coming!
Hey 2vintage replaced clutch plates on my 84 and clutch still won't engage when it's in gear
Can u help If I post a video ?
Do you know any where I could get Honda xr70r plastics I can’t find them anywhere, also can you check out my brothers CZcams channel it’s DeadEndQuads
Ahhhhh the paper towel gave me shivers, then I saw the bare channel locks on the gas cap, using them backwards for maximum damage potential? my god man. To quote the wolf Vincent Vega, "Pretty please with sugar on top, clean the freekin bikes". That's step one, you and I will both be so much happier.
Yeah.... dry paper towel to wipe dry gritty dust off of chrome. Might as well try wiping the chrome with 400 grit sandpaper.
For 100 bucks I wouldn't have tried to talk him down but 50 is a killer deal
Why wouldn't you try to haggle? It says or best offer..
@@rogerbrown5465 because I believe in being fair to people 100 bucks is nothing for a bike with potential to run you could easily make money on a bike like that ....
@@enjoythesho1992 - I am the same way. However, I have learned to haggle a little bit and it has saved some money over the years.
never beat a guy up a on good deal...
You always haggle. He saved $50 which could potentially be enough for a replacement part. It does go a long way especially if you're doing these things for profit you will always haggle even if they say non negotiable
Bothers me so much that you don't wash the bike when you get them
Ye know at this point I'm convinced he's trolling us because we always say it and yet he still does it.
@@tomatoknuckles no point of wasting time washing it if it ends up being locked up rather sit there finding the problem then clean it up
I would wash it just so it's more pleasant to work on if it starts or not plus more than likely if it doesn't start, it still has to come apart.
@@LandonMartien Any good mechanic will tell you how much easier it is to work on a clean bike. Adding an extra half hour for a good hose down is no big deal it's just lazy.
@@tomatoknuckles He's not gonna give a flying fuck about your ocd, good for him 😄
I had a brand new RD 400/1976, and I remember those “squishy” grips, eased the vibrations off the engine. I really wish they still produced 2 stroke engines, they have the technology to deal with air pollution and environmental issues. 👍🇨🇦
I cried out " don't don't " when you took those channel lock pliers to that
me to, i was cringing
'71 CS200 was the first real motorcycle I ever had, looked just like this one. I got it when I turned 14 from my uncle who had it in a shed for about 6 years. My dad and I got it running, I made a few dirt bike modifications because I lived on a dirt road with miles and miles of farm land to ride on.
All my other friends had bikes like DR 200, XT 200, XL 200's etc, mine was the only "street" bike. But was by far the fastest and most powerful of them all. I loved that bike and even after 2 years of the abuse I threw at it, it held together very well. I ended up passing it on to a younger cousin after I got a car, he rode it for years too.
You can tell he was a guy that took pride in his stuff looking good. To see that filter in that shape I assume the carbs will look the same. Your gonna end up uncovering the beauty that this guy put away 11 years ago and wind up with a really cool/fun vintage bike!!
1. Wash 2. Remove carbs (ultra sonic cleaning) 3. Add MM oil to cylinders 4. Use a compression guage to see the compression #'s. 5. Check/lightly sand points and/or gap points 6. When you have confirmed spark, add fuel/oil mix to cylinders to try briefly start. 7. Begin total renovation/parts availability
No. 1 WASH!! First and foremost, so you can see what your working with.
Man ! This guy is so, so sloppy ! Have the crank lever falling off ! Hope he remembers to use 2-stroke oil !!
Crank seal tip: Leaking crank seals can be a problem on these old 2-strokes, and rebuilding a twin-cylinder crank to replace them isn't easy. If the bike is smoking excessively, it probably means that the inner seals have hardened and are no longer sealing. Drain out some of the transmission oil and replace it with transmission stopleak, that may soften the seals enough to fix the problem. Or, if you have the cases split, pour some stopleak on and around the seals and let it soak for a day or two. You're welcome.
The last time that thing ran I wasn’t even born yet
For all the people that are so sad that the og drawing intro is gone. I tried to remake one and used them as a intro in last video😂
cool!
@@2vintagebut thanks joe for the amazing content!
I watched it 😂
i should have washed it first before i did anything but nice find
really cool bike
Last I watched, you had just gotten that two stroke honda quad and a couple of polaris quads
How can you work on it without washing it first. It’s manky and the poor thing needs to be cleaned before messing with it. Also don’t ‘clean’ the chrome with a dry paper towel
Great buy great find, well done cool looking bike can’t wait to see it finished ❤, always wash off dust first before rubbing it with anything dry avoids tiny scratches this bikes awesome bro!
WOW!!! What a Deal!!!!!!! That's AMAZING!
Nice vid, but jeez wipin it dry with all that dust on it NOoooooooo
I was cringing he's scratching it so bad lmao
The RD Great bike. I had a 1978 RD400 silver color when I was 17. 59 now looking to get another one same year. The sound of 2 stroke and ride is great.
Letss gooooo another long video i actually love these more and learn so much moreee🔥🔥🔥 please kep longer videos
Please don't follow his example. He hasn't got a clue!
@@Chris-bv4yh what’s your problem with writing all these stupid comments. Let people put there own opinions. It’s your opinion that he sucks at this but other people have different preferences and everyone doesn’t need to see you dumb comments about him.
That was an absolute steal for $50. It is in immaculate condition just a tad dirty which is rare. Usually a motorcycle that has been sitting is a rusted piece of garbage but that bike was obviously stored in a nice dry, clean and somewhat warm area which is probably why it still looks so good.
Hey man nice video but just a heads up most definitely wash it before you do any work man it helps a lot makes your job easier and less messy
That’s exactly what I was thinking the whole time while watching, also if he cleans the bike before opening compartments and working on things that more dirt can fall into
@@danielhelbig1116 yeah
@Master Baiter was thinking that lol
Love the channel, and your willingness to tackle projects others would throw in the towel on. New channel Small Engine Wizard
Interesting terminology for the various bike parts:). What a deal, I paid $200 for mine but I got both exhausts
Awesome videos! Keep em coming!
more bike videos for sure. LOVE THE VIDS❤️
I love old bikes. I had and rode a Yamaha Twinjet 100, a 1967 motorcycle with a pressed steel frame. Loved it.
I had a 68 125 twin by Yamaha. Hell it would move! Fun bikes. True learner bikes.
Got pieces of an RD 400 out back, planning on building it one of these days. Just takes a ton of free time, and we are busy as hell 5 1/2 days a week but it will be done, too cool not to. Great pick up bud!!
2vintage I’ve been watching for 4 years lol🤣
I'd say the first thing to do if allowed beford putting the bike on the truck ,take out the sparkolators, add some penetrating oil, return sparkers then let the bouncing on the way home help the oil to lubricate everything, then give it a rinse off at home
"The Vermont method" never heard of that, but that's probably because I love here
Best thing out there!! Thank you Vermont!!
I live in Idaho and have used this method. They look at me funny at the DMV here when I have a title from Vermont with an Idaho address. lol
@@fightzoid Same here. I live in WV an went to switch the title to this state an the ppl at the DMV asked if i used to live there. Well of course! Haha. Not really though. The only thing extra i had to do was get a VIN verification form they gave me to have the local police dept fill out which wasn't a problem because the bike was never reported stolen or stolen on general. Now if it was whoever was getting that form filled out by the local PD might have a couple issues. Thankfully i didnt.
I have a 1972 CT2 175 Enduro. All those old Yamaha's are alot of fun
I had one of these from new back in 1975 and it was in a kind of metallic bronze colour.
I was a good little bike, very nippy for such a small engine. I did almost 18000 miles on
it, without any major problems, except it was prone to oiling up the plug on the left cylinder
when ridden hard. I think it could have been a faulty coil, looking back.
THX for making this one short.
So many endless possibilities with this bike!! Great 👍 find!!!
Try using diesel down cylinders instead of oil. Works alot better. What I always use👊
On the kick starter use your Dremel to make the split bigger that way the bolt can tighten down more. Back then the kick starter was a problem on every bike.
on my Honda xr75s too
I had a 1972 200 electric as a kid. It had a purple and white tank with all other painted parts just purple. I ran good most of the time but it had spells of oiling the plugs. If you google "1972 Yamaha 200" you'll see 'em exactly like mine!! Even the purple and white tank.
Man, you are the best, in last week i watch only your content🤠, because i found your chanel last week ago.🤓
I like all what you do on the channel 🤤
Cheers🍻
Watching youtube since 2008. Well, iam not kidding this is my new favorite channel. Its so simple yet such good quality. Thankyou for the vids bro if there’s a way to donate or anything like that i will
So simple and so clueless.
Are you on drugs man?
@@Chris-bv4yh the only thing you’re doing here is typing hate comments on his video’s. Don’t you have an life?😂😂
@@Aquadicto This is not a hate comment. There are some folk on CZcams who think this is the way to repair a bike. It really isn't. Get real.
@@Chris-bv4yh there a million ways to fix certain things... just because someone’s doing it different then you doesn’t mean its the wrong way.
Awesome video man
Sweet! I love classic style vintage street bikes! At age 17 I bought a brand new 1975 Suzuki GT185. Chrome fenders, same height tires front and rear, chrome dual exhaust. I killed the KZ100s and CB125s! Why can't makers bring this style back?
Good content man
I made custom expansion chambers and ported my CS5 200cc and got it up to 35 wheel horsepower!
I had a 1973 200.Electric as they were known in the UK because they had an electric starter in addition to the kickstart, they became the RD200 when Yamaha fitted the disc front brake, the same as the RD250 was known as the YDS7 in the UK until the addition of a disc front brake plus the RD350 was called the YR5. The RD400 was always known as that as it was a later bike and Yamaha were using the RD prefix across the sports two stroke range
Was it orange by any chance? I had an RD250C back in the day.
@@MeYou-yz2yz it was, orange and white with black striping on the tank and orange side panels. I had it late 70s, I wish I still had it, a fabulous little bike.
@@stevezephyr Yeah two guys had these when I was at high school. I had an RD 250. The 200's were so much lighter that there wasn't a massive difference in performance. So I converted it to a 350. 🤣🤣🤣
can't believe the deals you get, you are soooo blessed.....
Hey 2vintage, I love your videos and I am wondering what you usually do with the motorcycles you buy that have no title?
Man do you know what you just picked up? There is a huge market for those old 2 stroke road bikes. You could put 2k into rebuilding that thing and still make a profit on it
when you said oh there’s a VIN I was looking for the dog lol
I love these 2 stroke videos!
Gonna check out your 2 Stoke vid.
Hey man, so if you take an empty cleaned quart of oil bottle, poke a hole through the lid, thread a gas line through and get a tight seal. Make sure the line touches the bottom of the bottle and have plenty of line in the other side. Thread on the cap, and you can just put the line where you want, and you can just squeeze the bottle and gas comes out
This video is awesome love seeing the old bikes
I lived in Japan and of all the things in my life I regret selling is my 1988 RGV gamma 250..
I miss 2 strokes
Oh the 200 a real barn fined .
This one really impressed me. Great job Joe!
You must be joking. This is one of the worst examples of bike mechanics on CZcams. Please don't follow his example.
@@Chris-bv4yh I can tell your a person that gives thumbs down, but yet always watches. I don't always agree with things he does, but after doing the exact same things with old toys for over 30 yrs I admire his motivation on fixing bikes. Especially now a days. Knowbody is perfect and you learn from mistakes. Better than someone his age with no mechanical skills.
@@smokeyou812 I virtually never give a thumbs down, and yes you have to watch otherwise its unfounded criticism. The following two videos' just go from bad to worse. What was a repairable classic bike will now be sold off as spares or junk. Whilst it's not a bad thing to learn from our mistakes you don't have to post them for all the world to see? I'm really not sure Joe is learning anything other than how to ruin perfectly good bikes. He needs some qualified help.
@@Chris-bv4yh all true. Like I said I do commend him on trying during this generation of kids, he's getting better compared to 2-3 yrs ago. He was better off selling that one. Looked like a moneypit.
I saw a RD200 in a motorcycle graveyard last week. Seeing this video makes me wanna go and buy it now. 😂
Nice find..hope it turns out to be a good deal.. 50 bucks you've already won!
Just curious did you put the fuse back in?
Cool vid, love the old Patina!!!! 👍👍👍
i just got a raptor 660 that needs to be timed but one of the long bolts that hold the valve cover on won’t twist anymore and it stripped when i took out the bolt next to it it was kind of corroded but came out easily what should i do?
Look into helix coils you can pick them up at autozone
Play in traffic
U should never use paper towel ON crome and painted parts because u scratch the surface of paint and crome.
It’s already scratched pretty bad so it doesn’t really matter
yeah i don't think he was really worried about scratching it
Bullshit. Chrome is hard, paper will not scratch chrome. But if you use paper on dirty parts the sand in the dirt will scratch paint and chrome. Always use soapy water to remove dirt or a power washer
Here in the Uk, a mate had a CS5E electric brand new in 1972 in purple and white, Looked identical to yours, CS3E had a more of a hump style fuel tank and I don't remember one in purple.
Had a RD 350 back in the day. Fun bike.
I have to say that's a beautiful bike. I used to love the rd350 S and 400 very fast for the size of the engine. I know when everybody was running around like a pack of killer bees in the 70s with their Rd I was riding an experimental 500 Titan with the twin shifter range. I have not seen another motor like that one ever I know in that year model the 90 came with a duel range transmission but I don't know there are a few other bikes also that did that. Although I have asked around through a Suzuki enthusiast I have not had a positive comeback about that. Maybe you've seen one I don't know. As near as I can remember it was a 72 it was a metallic lime green color but so was the 90. One other thing about that bike to it did not have a reed valve in it so the power band was crazy. I've owned all kinds of yamaha's from that era but my favorite was a dt175 blue and white. One thing I wanted to tell you about all those bikes if you didn't know is if you pop the tank up and unplug the harness it will start right up. That's why they started putting locks on the seats because they were so easy to steal didn't matter if you locked your forks or not you just laid out on the ground and jump on the forks and it breaks the lock. Believe me I know it happened to me thank God I had full coverage on the bike. Anyhow those two hundreds like the one you have I believe the 90 and the 125 wear the same color once you polish it up it's really pretty. Good luck with the project, save those old bikes. PS you're lucky mustie1 didn't find that one
In the early 70's a kid at a farm we worked harvest at had a Kawasaki 175 that had dual range shifting. It was an enduro type, street legal but built for off road.
@@gregoryblair9810 thanks for the reply, I have never seen a Kawasaki like that although I grew up all through the sixties and seventies and up until now I've only known about Suzuki's like that and they were all old ones you know what I mean. But I do appreciate the comment at least I know that there's somebody out there listening. Many blessings and have a great day
You never know what your going to get for 50 bucks but traditionally Honda and Yamaha motors are pretty bullet proof.
That is a piston-ported CS5 200cc that comes with electric start. Around 1972 model. This is not an RD model, as it does not have a reed-valve between the carburettor and the engine-block.
Trinidad & Tobago. West Indies.
I should send you my 91 cr250 to restore back to showroom condition be ace to see it featured, of course I'd want it back after, great vids bud hope you n your family are well
Ahh yes the 70s 2 strokes, what a great time to start riding bikes. My 4th bike was an RD 350 maroon colour, what a wheelie machine it was, first second and into 3rd.........on the back wheel. What a poser I was in my home town, Saturday noon along Main Street Carlisle in the north of England. The cops never did catch me ;)
Great to see something different. Love it.
Nice find!
My older brother has 6 of these types of these bikes and they have been sitting and now he’s starting to try to fix em after 11 years also
I have a random question what kind of music do you like.
when I was a lad, the RC200 was the pinnacle of small bikes (a 750cc anything being a `Mans Bike`) then, the 350 came along, they all rushed to sell their 250`s, then the 350LC came along, we were all baffled as to the difference-they all looked the same to us! we weren`t old enough to be bikers, they all had a hell of a Rep` for what they were mind you, in the right hands, they could take on a 750!
What a great find, that’ll restore to new condition.
What was that thing on the windshild
Owned a 71 rd 250, what a fun bike that was.
Can u do a restoration series of this rd200
I think that is not RD, because D means front discbrake. Here in Finland i had 72 model 350cc bike and type was R5. Also sistermodel 250cc was DS7, strange? But your bike looks very same as those with drum brakes👍
Owned a 71 250 I bought for 100 back in the 90s. It was my brothers wife's bike. Perfect condition 3000 miles. Problem was that there wasn't a title, used to ride it illegally after dark. Fun little machine.
Gotta ring the bell for this one
Diamond in the ruff buddy good job ☺️
Ye Ol Tundra STILL needs new wiper blades. Giter done and Keeper Movin
Isnt the 350 the same engine as a banshee? I dont know if this model is the one but i know for sure due research that the banshee 350 has the engine of an old bike that looks like this
Great bike was riding this in a field in the eighties i think it was stolen.☹👍
I had a Yamaha 200 twin cylinder. But didn't really look like that. Mine was mostly purple and the gas take was kind of pointy in front. I work as a groundskeeper at an apartment complex in Atanta adn some guy moved out and left it there. I think he went to Emory. Anyway, it ran, even though it smoked out of one cylinder. They gave it to me, but it was stolen soon afterwards.
Is this one of those Yami,s with the roundhouse gearbox…you be cranking along shifting gears when….you go from fourth to first, wheely over backwards? Whoever thought that up?
got yourself a bargain there mate they are worth a fortune even in that condition in the uk
This will be mint bro wen all dun up 👍🔥
I have the round headlight assembly and the lamp is with 12 LED right forward beam side plus 12 LED left forward beam with halogen in the center of the bucket for motorcycle's front bracket of the fork. The assembly is brand new that I bought in 3 months ago and it works bright in the detail box. I can have sale price for it. The bracket is right and left side for beryl chromed plated at the front of the handlebar Yamaha. My new black bracket with two clamps have 3 holes on each side. The 2 grips around the forks near the tree of the handlebar. These bracket set inside another detail box also 3 month old - The grip is the clamp - 6 holes total bracket includes 2 of the 6 holes are for mounting with stainless steel bolt x 2. It can hold the halogen socket made out of plastic color black bucket with ring (plastic color black trim) around the light 6 1/2 inch includes 9 wires. You have tachometer with the cable and spinning inside the flexible conduit. The rotation connected at the back of Tachometer. The cable is connected to the hub of the front wheel. When the wheel rolls that makes the tachometer roll with its finger instead of speedometer. I like it - I don't need speedometer because the motorcycle is very loud 8,000 RPM, 5th gear equals 50 MPH. When you see a cop then I must go down to 1,500 rpm, 5th gear on 250cc motorbike.
Very nice cheap old school bike
Do u think you’ll get it running and what do you do for a living?
You can see the original color:lila, from headlight brackets. Same as my R5.
I have an 81 just like this bike but mines a Yamaha bought it for 200$ change the oil and the spark plug and put a clutch handle on it runs great 🤟
Awesome bike man !!!
To bad it wasn't a YZR250. Way back when a buddy of mine had one. He got it with money from an accident. He then lost use of his arm due to nerve damage crashing his bike. He then 4 years later died, guess how, in another accident. The bike was a really cool little race rocket and sounded skookum AF but 2 strokes were all over the place back then(off road). He also had a Kawasaki Ninja 250r and a Ninja(GPZ) 400r as his EDD
I think vehicles 1972 or older do not have titles ... the registration was title
This bikes are super expencive in sweden. Bdw uppload more videos on The cr 250 :)
Nice find👍👍👍
How much would you take for it
