Revisiting one of the most challenging, brutal and flat out ridiculous campaigns the Call of Duty series has ever produced. Is it as painful as everyone remembers it being?
Bruh i actually did the sniper bit of vendetta in front of my fam on veteran for the first time (in one go, no deaths). I had to show em there uncle wasnt no bitch. That being said i almost shat myself and burst a blood vessel when it was over
Interestingly, that part seems historically accurate for the German's side. I remember reading somewhere that the Germans had more explosives than they knew what to do with.
@@straightmaneatingpizza1665so they decided to use them all on Dimitri 💀 I swear they had enough to level the entire planet 50x over and yet they sent every explosive they’ve ever made at Dimitri
World at War was the last COD to feature checkpoint spawning, which would send waves of enemies at you until you hit certain checkpoints. It added to the difficulty & often left players without ammo & stuck in death/spawn loops. It truly was the pinnacle of hard in COD campaigns.
@@Realninja7214 A few CODs that released after WAW do have it for a mission or two, even BO3 has it at one section(can be used to farm kills w/guns towards Personal Decorator achievement), but in the earlier games the feature was prevalent in the majority of missions & was the only way to progress. Heart of the Reich on veteran made me feel like I was actually fighting in the streets of Berlin. I can't even describe how many times I died trying to beat that mission.
@georgeellison5094 it was hell for a lot of us, brother. We were forged in the fires of Stalingrad and Okinawa on veteran difficulty. I play the WaW campaign on Veteran pretty regularly. Best CoD. There are parts where it seems as if enemies spawn infinitely, but there's actually just a lot of them and you actually can kill them all and no more will spawn until you move up. For example, there is no infinite spawn on Burn 'Em Out, it's just that a lot of them respawn. In fact, if you're patient enough, you can kill all of the enemies near the first two guns on Heart of the Reich. It takes forever and you'll have to kill several hundred enemies, but it is possible to completely clear the area before moving up. It's even possible to totally clear every part on Ring of Steel, on Eviction, Downfall, Relentless, etcetera. There are two and only two parts of the entire campaign with infinite respawn: The right path on Blowtorch and Corkscrew before the overgrown tunnel and taking out the third gun on Heart of the Reich. You can actually hang back and totally clear the next area before taking out the last gun. I like to run through the missions in chronological order, rather than on the broken timeline that the missions are given in.
@@_Scipio__Africanus_ Yeah it has the taste of Battle of Chosin Reservoir. If it was realistic you WILL wear out your gun in hand...you WILL break several of them just like in Chosin Reservoir.
Same thing here, I play it regularly. It's a challenging game on veteran but overtime you learn how to play and understand the pattern. Curiously, I have found that the Japs are to be fought from long distances while the German in close quarters. It's because they have different tactics and use different environments (in the jungle, you can be shot at from everywhere so you must thread slowly while in Europe, once you've broken the enemy's line of defense, you're fighting in conventional cities where it's pretty straightforward and the player has an advantage - IF you break the line of defense).

Completing Heart of the Reich on veteran just to get the platinum on PS3 was about 4-5 hours of my life that I'll never get back. The grenade indicator triggers the PTSD that it gave me every time I see it, too.
Funny how people find different bits hard, I remember having less trouble than you on some bits, but I specifically remember 'Relentless' being the only mission I never managed to finish on veteran, and you did it with just one death first time haha. Solid run!
I did my WaW Veteran run a few months ago. I remember being so nervous getting to the sniper duel part because someone I watched on CZcams spent at least 30 minutes on it; and when I finally got to the part I did it first try and couldn't believe it. I screamed out "OH NO FUCKING WAY I DID IT FIRST TRY!" while in a Discord with some friends. Genuinely tho, FUCK Blowtorch & Corkscrew, it was my least favorite mission when I played it as a kid on Recruit/Regular and it is still my least favorite mission as an adult on Veteran. I remember I cleared the last bunker, but there was ONE enemy on top that I didn't kill somehow, and I remember the motherfucker SNIPED me during the cutscene where you are helping the injured soldier onto the truck. And the last checkpoint I had was halfway through clearing out the bunker. Made me so fucking mad.
I wish there’s a way I could’ve shown you how to kill Amsel so much easier with the pistol, before you did it the hard way lol. There are YT tuts on simple jumps that will get you out of the map, load the correct zones, and you can walk right up to Amsel and shoot him. Can be done in the span of a few mins and it’s also very entertaining how the npcs act, as the game didn’t intend for you to be within melee distance of him lmao. Congrats on the veteran completion!
I found a good method is to use the sniper rifle on the driver and then aim at the car and then quickly aim the pistol and shoot. He sticks his head up for a few seconds before he gets out and runs. Recruit difficulty is recommended as it takes more shots the higher the difficulty.
@@t-m-p-e-r same argument could be used for 10th prestige lobbies back on mw2 2009. The camos all look the same, whichever way you got them. Why ride a bicycle 20 miles when the motorcycle is right next to it? Make sense?
@@kenobi894 Trophies are for personal achievement. 10th prestige lobbies are a bad thing because you didn't earn it. It is more like "I could walk to lose weight, or I could use a saw and cut it out of my body." As I said before, only noobs do it. I will accept if you do the glitch but not for any trophies, as searching out of bounds is fun. I have no idea what you meant by the camos, but it seems you didn't get to prestige 10 legit.
Beating this campaign on Veteran is one of my proudest gaming achievements. It took many hours of trying and some luck. Endless grenade spam and banzai charges haunted my dreams.😂
Here's some tips to get through Call of Duty World At War in Veteran mode: 1. If you ever take cover, look at the sky. You'll see enemy grenades flying at you and their trajectory. With this, you can anticipate the grenade blast zone and fling them back to the enemy with better accuracy. 2. Always pay attention to your compass. Locate and pinpoint enemy positions safely from the cover before shooting them. 3. Never get far from your allies. Although sucks at shooting, your allies provide an infinite meatshield you can safely cower behind from enemy bullets. Furthermore, they know how to react against enemy grenades. 4. Stay away from the frontline. The enemy won't spam grenades at you if you're far enough to outrange them. 5. Ever tried firing from the hip in close-quarter battle?
Watching you struggle with Blowtorch and Corkscrew gave me solace. Watching you basically blitz through Heart of the Reich made me mad 😝 great work mate, love the vid!
Absolutely loved this game, remember grinding out every single achievement on it before there was even any modders on it or atleast very little, least to say never doing something like that again. One of the achievements I remember was to get 3 kills with one sniper shot.. pain just pain but good pain, the sort that keeps you coming back to play it again 👌
I'm definitely going to work my way through all of the CoD games! Just missing spec ops then I'll have all of MW2 recorded. Hopefully will get some black ops zombies started soon as well.
I have played through this campaign SO many times and yes blowtorch and corkscrew has always been the one mission that gets me every damn time. Never goes smoothly.
Having picked up a copy of WaW for my PS3 recently this video as turned out to rather handy. I'm on a bit of a trophy hunt and as I missed this CoD first time round, so its legend of difficulty had me thinking there was a reason for that. But I think you've shown with some patience and a spare smoke grenade, anything is possible.
I got my first veteran achievement in 2009 as a 5th grader and last one in 2016 as a senior in high school. Literally took me 7 years to beat this fucking game on veteran
The sound of the grenades bouncing around are ingrained in my brain now. At least I got good at spotting grenades flying towards my face from a distance
Just came back to the video to announce that I just finished COD: WAW on the Veteran difficulty and I don't know how, but my controller has survived the many raged I've had during this experience!!! I thought COD 4 MW was hard, but this campaign was the literal bane to my existence. This campaign on Veteran is what Mile High Club from COD 4 in on Veteran. I'm just glad I don't have to experience the many grenade spams/ rain anymore!
Thank you very much! Yeah I did that one in 2020 But I think I'm going to do it again very soon and record it. Want to try cover all of the cod games! I got absolutely ruined by a checkpoint when I did it and had to restart a level, that's all I remember really haha
Those spammed grenades on that level, still exist as an ongoing joke with my cousin of how ridiculous that was. I threw so many back, so many times. Hit all those hard parts on the Veteran run for sure. Only trophy I did not get was the Black Cats one. Definitely had the most trouble with the final mission on Veteran. Took me so long and so many attempts.
I'll never forget the amount of grenade spam I endured. They still give me PTSD in cod/battlefield to this day. I remember the 45 Zero planes gave me more trouble than the Vendetta sniper.
when I beat burn em out I was celebrating with my older brother, It was the first mission on veteran on world at war he tried so he was proud when got passed that little shit that hides behind the box. He thought it was easy to beat before he tried it. Because I am pretty young he thought "there is no way he is this bad" but now he knows about the abusive amount of grenades. but it was still fun to beat. Also nice vid!
Ever since I did my veteran run years ago I could never play this game on any other difficulty tbh. I feel it really goes from your normal shooter to a fully immersive battlefield. 2 best tips for it are 1.) take it slow, like inch by inch for your ground. You'd be moving slow as hell in an actual warzone, do it here 2.) Be very mindful of your loadout. Carry a semi auto or lmg for distance, and a subgun for cqc, abandon bolt actions asap. The flamethrower missions change with sometimes the flamer being good, but bad for when the enemies are at mid range, really gotta just be ready to drop it when you need to. Theres prob some other stuff im missing but those really helped me out. Only ever really had a struggle on that hunting the sniper segment and that one portion in burn em out with the hole in the ceiling. Funny enough I did what you did trial and erroring with smokes and the flamethrower till I got it, And I only threw my controller once :D
The grenade spam while storming the reichstag on Veteran was completely ridiculous. It took me two months two complete because I was literally pinned down in a damned video game. I still have memories of that ordeal 14 years later.
I have not, the only thing I'm missing though is online achieves. X kills with weapons and seriously. Of course Gears is a classic so I'm sure I will do a video at some point but probably not for those achievements! maybe
Great video mate! I remember this campaign being seriously tough, but did you ever play Call of Duty 3 on veteran? The mission Laison River - solid! Took me forever to beat that game on veteran
@@JForJackPlays I loved cod2 up until the hill 400 mission.. that part of the top haunts my dreams to this very day haha! Look forward to seeing the videos mate.
manz that one invincible nazi during the trench sequence on laison river was a bich lol don't know what teh fuck they were feeding the germans in that game
now this is a World War 2 Call of Duty everything about this game is was legendary loved the atmosphere the dark, mysterious, depressing music, campaign and zombies. World at War needs a remaster
Being a teenager during the prime years of COD was truly something I’m grateful for in hindsight. I was also 15 years old when World at War game out and is still statistically my most played game in the franchise after all these years.
@@JForJackPlays Our generation was definitely spoiled at that time. So many iconic games were coming out in such a short span during the 7th console generation.
This brings back memories. For me the worst level was always Relentless- i remember getting locked in the mission start point by grenade spam for far too long.
I remember I got the flu really bad back in 2013 ( I was in 9th grade) and I thought "might as well do something constructive, it can't be that hard!" It took me days to complete the campaign on veteran. I ended up finishing every mission but the airplane and tank one and it was extremely irritating but rewarding. Getting through one mission was like getting dental work done, hated being there and glad it was over.
I was only a young kid in 2008 and this being my first COD ever I really didn't take up doing veteran runs until a couple of years ago. I think I did this one 3 years ago and I'm not planning on doing it ever again. The most annoying mission was definitely Blowtorch and Corkscrew as mentioned. At least on Heart Of The Reich you have a bunch of ways to tackle the enemy threat and that makes it more fun, but BaC is just...torture. And more torture. Definitely one of the harder games I've done, but my hardest game ever was Killzone 2 on the PS3 - extremely high difficulty, clown closets of enemies just like in WAW, the absolutely insane last level combined with the game's notorious input lag was one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life. I'm pretty sure that just the last part of the last mission took me 3 days to beat and that was with ALL OF THE TRICKS the guides could offer.
To this day, blowtorch and corkscrew on veteran still haunts me. I’d rather play the entire campaign on repeat for a weeks straight than to play that again
For me its Blowtorch and Corkscrew, yeah Heart of the Reich was hard but I've done it twice in veteran mode, Blowtorch and Corkscrew was the only mission to make me irrationally angry. Good job man.
Oh my god, you just taught me that I had already finished the worst part of heart of the reich. I thought the end of the level was the hardest part because I’ve been trying to rush the stairs
Probably the hardest platinum I ever earnt. The grenade spam getting up those stairs was crazy hard. It took me a whole month to complete 1 checkpoint. Bizarrely though, once I had done it the first time, I could do it everytime afterwards. 🤯
If you want to talk about difficulty, I played this game on wii and it was brutal with the manual aiming and moving with the nunchuck. I never played it on veteran but can only imagine how difficult it would be.
I have a question i already completed a decent amount of the story veteran difficulty but somehow it switched the regular difficulty so does that mean i have to restart it from the beginning on veteran
WAW, MW1, 2, 3, Black Ops 1 where the CODs I beat on veteran, they were crazy. MW1 was probably the hardest, especially in the TV station. I remember that mission driving me insane, but once I got past there it wasn't as bad.
WaW and Cod4 are my all time favourite call of duty’s. So meany memories with friends playing online, all the late nights and the banter back in secondary school. Playing gamebattles and promod also 😂
I swear to God, that sniper duel on veteran is the hardest thing I've done in any game ever.

I think that might be the worst mission.
That glitch is for noobs. Real people going for achievements wouldn't do that.
Mate, watching and listening to you talk about the final bunker gave me ptsd. What a punishing checkpoint to have to run up that hill so many times.
Genuinely didn't remember B&C being so horrendous, clearly locked those memories away in the deep corners of my brain
im really enjoying your uploads, keep up the good work!
thank you! got lots more planned to keep me busy
I remember beating the hard landing ending on the AAA the whole time, proudest moment of my life
you are a braver man than me!
yeah me too :D thought you had to use it back in the day lol
Love the RAAF logo.
Genuinely the hardest veteran cod campaign, respect to anyone who did it back in the day
Can I just say too, the heart of the reich is 100% the hardest mission I’ve ever done on veteran I still have PTSD from it
Beating this campaign on Veteran is one of my proudest gaming achievements. It took many hours of trying and some luck. Endless grenade spam and banzai charges haunted my dreams.😂
Me who's playing it rn. 😥
Here's some tips to get through Call of Duty World At War in Veteran mode:
Enjoyed the video man, good job. Wouldn't dare attempt this!
glad to hear it! thank you very much
it's ok, i've done it so you don't have to haha
Watching you struggle with Blowtorch and Corkscrew gave me solace. Watching you basically blitz through Heart of the Reich made me mad 😝 great work mate, love the vid!
haha, thank you very much!
glad you enjoyed it
INSANE gameplay cant wait to see you shoot some more WILD achievements
Thank you willruns 😍
Always a good day when these drop
Glad to hear you think so!
Thank you for watching
Absolutely loved this game, remember grinding out every single achievement on it before there was even any modders on it or atleast very little, least to say never doing something like that again. One of the achievements I remember was to get 3 kills with one sniper shot.. pain just pain but good pain, the sort that keeps you coming back to play it again 👌
another amazing vid! look forward to the next one
Glad you enjoy them!
Thank you very much
That grenade spam still haunts me years and years later
I would love to see you go through all the CoD veteran Campaigns
I'm definitely going to work my way through all of the CoD games!
Just missing spec ops then I'll have all of MW2 recorded.
Hopefully will get some black ops zombies started soon as well.
I have played through this campaign SO many times and yes blowtorch and corkscrew has always been the one mission that gets me every damn time. Never goes smoothly.
Genuinely forgot it being so hard. Maybe my mind locked those memories away somewhere real deep
Nice vid. Looking forward to hopefully seeing those WaW multiplayer achievements lol
thank you very much!
I might have to hop online and give it a go at least..
Glad I could help!
Yep smoke grenades are the real MVPs. Good luck with your trophy hunting!
7:18 Reznov’s t-pose while falling had me cackling
Found this channel a couple hours ago through the zombies video, now there ANOTHER WAW vid? Nice
Thanks for sticking around!
I'm still haunted by the grenade-spams on Heart of the Reich.
Each and every German grenade in Berlin had Dimitri's name on them.
I got my first veteran achievement in 2009 as a 5th grader and last one in 2016 as a senior in high school. Literally took me 7 years to beat this fucking game on veteran
but you got there eventually!
That grenade icon gave me 'Nam flashbacks, I'd forgotten how endless it was.
The sound of the grenades bouncing around are ingrained in my brain now. At least I got good at spotting grenades flying towards my face from a distance
never know when such a life skill will come in handy!
I literally cried going through these levels.
It took me months to be it on Veteran, i cant tell you how many times i heard that death sound
Nice Video. I have every single achievement in this game including all DLC achievements and Go Get Some Sun. All unlocked before 2010!
thank you very much!
that's pretty crazy, I only managed to get max prestige in COD4
Just came back to the video to announce that I just finished COD: WAW on the Veteran difficulty and I don't know how, but my controller has survived the many raged I've had during this experience!!! I thought COD 4 MW was hard, but this campaign was the literal bane to my existence. This campaign on Veteran is what Mile High Club from COD 4 in on Veteran. I'm just glad I don't have to experience the many grenade spams/ rain anymore!
Love the videos man. I remember the only achievements on CoD 2 being you had to beat it on veteran and that shit was ass lmaooo
3:50 RIP Pvt. Conserva. Your service will not be forgotten.
Hero
Really enjoy your videos jack very nostalgic!
1 question tho.
Have you 100 prevented Gears of war???
I have not, the only thing I'm missing though is online achieves. X kills with weapons and seriously.
Of course Gears is a classic so I'm sure I will do a video at some point but probably not for those achievements! maybe
Great video mate! I remember this campaign being seriously tough, but did you ever play Call of Duty 3 on veteran? The mission Laison River - solid! Took me forever to beat that game on veteran
Thank you!
Nope I haven't played that one.
Planning on doing cod2 & mw2 next then I'll give cod3 a go!
I was also 15 years old when World at War game out and is still statistically my most played game in the franchise after all these years.
glorious times, rushing home from school to get a spot in the lobby was the best
@@JForJackPlays Our generation was definitely spoiled at that time. So many iconic games were coming out in such a short span during the 7th console generation.
The flame thrower mission on okinawa is a nightmare I still have to this day…
smoke grenades make it not so bad but you are right, my first time through was horrendous
The bit in the tunnel was the hardest.
Watching this video gave me PTSD. The sniper duel took me an hour to complete.
my grandpa is 71 and he beat veteran difficulty like it was nothing, i'm convinced he's a god
what a hero!
Did your flu go away before you finished it?
My dad and I started on this campaign and it lead to a deep love of cod from both of us. We never beat it.
good times!
You gotta finish it though;)
Wish i could...
Done this a a few years back. Was absolutely torture
Nothing will ever beat the ecstasy that was finding out about the puddle hopping strat to get the ray gun in the second mission
I've never found it!
i am a fool
Great video!
Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed!
The Type 99s gave me so much pain on Veteran as did the grenade spam.
Veteran felt like borderline realism mode.
To this day, blowtorch and corkscrew on veteran still haunts me. I’d rather play the entire campaign on repeat for a weeks straight than to play that again
its an absolute nightmare. Had no memory of it being THAT bad
I have put myself through Veteran Difficulty through every cod ever. I love the pain
whats your top 3 most difficult?
@@JForJackPlays WaW, Infinite, and MW2 09
I don't think I have the patience to do these veteran playthroughs anymore.
For me its Blowtorch and Corkscrew, yeah Heart of the Reich was hard but I've done it twice in veteran mode, Blowtorch and Corkscrew was the only mission to make me irrationally angry.
Good job man.
Yeah B&C was complete madness!
thanks, appreciate it!
Oh my god, you just taught me that I had already finished the worst part of heart of the reich. I thought the end of the level was the hardest part because I’ve been trying to rush the stairs
I’m still at that part lmaooo. I’ll go finish the game tomorrow
The damm sniper has the most K/D ratio to this date
Probably the hardest platinum I ever earnt. The grenade spam getting up those stairs was crazy hard. It took me a whole month to complete 1 checkpoint. Bizarrely though, once I had done it the first time, I could do it everytime afterwards. 🤯
If you want to talk about difficulty, I played this game on wii and it was brutal with the manual aiming and moving with the nunchuck. I never played it on veteran but can only imagine how difficult it would be.
Nice vid bud 💯
thank you!! glad you think so
I was pooping while watching this. The amount of stress i had watching this made easy pooping. Good video
glad i could help you out!
thank you very much
That friendly fire though
I have a question i already completed a decent amount of the story veteran difficulty but somehow it switched the regular difficulty so does that mean i have to restart it from the beginning on veteran
WAW, MW1, 2, 3, Black Ops 1 where the CODs I beat on veteran, they were crazy. MW1 was probably the hardest, especially in the TV station. I remember that mission driving me insane, but once I got past there it wasn't as bad.
WaW and Cod4 are my all time favourite call of duty’s. So meany memories with friends playing online, all the late nights and the banter back in secondary school. Playing gamebattles and promod also 😂
oh man gamebattles is a throw back! never used it but had friends that did. good times indeed
the very first clip is my exact memory of grinding through veteran difficulty, nades for days 😂
iconic for all the wrong reasons haha
God the 360 achievement notification is so nostalgic. Wish there was a mod of some kind to change the steam one to it.
