    Am I from an alternate timeline? Because there's no such thing as a Ryzen 7 7800X. There's a Ryzen 7 7700X, which is the direct replacement to the 5800X, and then there's the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. Also, when CDPR first published the system specs, it was a "Ryzen 7 7800", with no "X" (which also doesn't exist). It's also bizarre that they're recommending CPUs that aren't even a year old at this point.

    Thanks for highlighting those changes... I had read that the DLC update is making changes to the base game skill trees, cyberware and of course adding in DLC only content (6th skill tree). In addition, clothing will no long contain armor stats. Never gave it a thought this the "redesign" would increase the specs but it certainly makes sense.

    These system requirements don't make very much sense. The weirdest thing about them is that they completely leave out 1440p, which is a very popular resolution, and a much more commonly used resolution than 4k (2160p). Also, recommending a 7800X to play at 1080p high, and then, even more nonsensically, recommending a 7900X to play at 2160p Ultra? If anything, you need less CPU power, not more, to go from 1080p to 2160p resolution... But the 7900X, while a more "high end" CPU than the 7800X, is actually a WORSE cpu for gaming, because of the chiplet/ core configuration, so I would be surprised if the 7900X could actually run any better than a 7800X anyway.. But, what's also crazy, is that a 7800X is a very powerful current gen CPU, and I find it very hard to believe that a 5800X wouldn't be more than good enough. Moreover, I would expect a 5600 or 10600k to also be just fine for hitting 60 fps. If their game actually REQUIRES a 7800X to hit 60fps, that would be very strange, imo.

    • @syncmonism
      @syncmonism Před rokem +1

      I had been running Cyberpunk on a 3080 with a 5600, but I've traded my 3080 for a 6800 XT. I was just not really sold on ray tracing, and I came to think that the Vram on the 6800 XT is going to make it a better card over the next three years. Ray tracing is always the first thing that you want to turn off in order to improve performance. Even on a 3080, ray tracing just wasn't really that worthwhile, given what a huge hit it gives to performance. In games where the cost of ray tracing is lower, the affect it has on visual quality is negligible. Ray tracing often just looks different, not necessarily better, imo. It's more realistic, yes, but realistic doesn't necessarily mean better. If realism was always better, I would not play videogames, and would go outside a lot more often.

But with new requirements if base frame rate is less than 60fps with dlss 3 on u might get 90-100 fps but input lag can definitely be felt at this fps. Late to this but I'm on a 5800x3d and a 3070ti and also wanting to get a 1yr+ out of it before considering an upgrade. My target is always 1440p/60 and I'm happy to turn settings down, up to a point, to achieve this. I played and enjoyed 2077 a couple of times since launch so I won't feel too put out if I'm edged out tech-wise. They did state that 'High' means everything on high, that's how they benchmark. Hopefully, as it is an engine that scales really well, there will be settings like crowd density, or shadows, or something new they've added which can be adjusted to return some CPU performance. The benchmarks of the new patch will be interesting. I wonder if it will be another launch controversy -- not because of bugs but because hordes of pre-existing users suddenly discover double-digit dips in their avg frames.

  • @StormEagle5
    @StormEagle5 Před rokem +1

    I had an i5-3570k and gtx 970 with 8GB of DDR3 RAM and an ssd, and it was cyberpunk's release which made me realise that my PC had well and truly hit a wall. While in previous games I could get away with medium settings and some optimisation in most games, in cyberpunk I couldn't even do lowest settings and optimising and get a playable framerate. We're talking low 20s and dipping below when anything was happening.
    So I upgraded to a 5600x, 3080 10GB, and 32GB of DDR4 with an SN850 SSD. I've since upgraded to a 5800X3D, and it runs and feels orders of magnitude better.
    I feel like they may have realised they undershot on the requirements for the CPU, because having looked back I think my old rig's struggles mainly came from CPU throttling in most cases, and not from thermal, but from just not having the performance.
    If you do go find yourself getting CPU throttled or having occasional frame stutters, consider dropping in the 5800X3D instead of doing a full upgrade, because I've noticed a difference in games like Star Citizen, Total War Warhammer 3, Warzone 2, Darktide, and some others. The 5800X3D is the best gaming CPU you will be able to get for your mobo without replacing it also. They're also soon releasing the 5600X3D, but I don't know how it weighs up yet, it may turn out to be good value and only a hair behind the 5800X3D, we'll see. My point is, the big L3 cache upgrade from the 3D v-cache helps smooth out those occasional frametime stutters, and has allowed it to stay in the running with even the best of the 13-series Intel CPUs and AMD's 7000 CPUs in benchmark charts.

    • @MontyFly
      @MontyFly Před rokem

      The 5600X3D is only available at Micro Center so if You are lucky like me and live near one you can get that. I saw reviews showing it to have similar but, a bit weaker results than the 5800X3d which is about $60 to $80 US greenbacks more the last time I checked. I plan on dropping the 5800X3D into my AM4 board this fall when my property tax refund shows up. If that doesn't make Cyberpuck behave like does now, butter smooth at 2k with lows ~70 fps and average ~170 fps with high setting and no ray tracing.

It has been my experience that my CPU is a bit overkill, at least compared to build recommendations that I come across that still recommend CPUs with 6 cores and 12 threads (mine has 8 & 16). To find out that my CPU isn't good enough for 1080p high (when I currently get about 70-90 FPS on Ultra with my RX 7600) is kind of wild. I don't understand it. I think the CPU recommendations must be inflated. It just shows that the original game was build with old gen consoles in mind. Thats why much of the systems and content was scrapped, the old gen could not handle it. That translated over to the PC version, with low system requirements.
    Now that they have gone out and said old gen will not be getting phantom liberty, i guess they have implemented systems that require more CPU power. But from what they have previewed, i don't see many new features that would call for a much better CPU. Crowds will still be the same, and not have full day/night cycles like the pre-launch of cyberpunkt trailers said. And i don't think going back into Cyberpunk will be a new experience. If you want to have Raytracing Overdrive playable in Cyberpunk, you usually have a really fat computer. To be able to play Cyberpunk in 4k, Ultra and pathtraycing with a decent FPS rate, a 4080 or better a 4090 is necessary anyway. And gamers who have such a GPU also have a corresponding processor. Since these settings are only aimed at the hardest core of pixel snobs anyway, I don't see a problem with the increased requirements.

    This topic definitely requires more attention.
    As to me, CDPR have become an exemplar of corporate marketing scheming:
    a) What they do in terms of repairing their product is understandable and appraisable, and I, actually, support it;
    b) on the contrary they are trying to fulfill their original game promises by delivering a game with now completely different hardware requirements and essentially defying the original buyers into believing that a good game with so low specs is possible. Basically some buyers would now sit with the promised game and no longer compatible PC build (feels like a scam, no?). No wonder PS-store dropped the whole thing short time after launch;
    c) be warned fellow consumers, that if CDPR and the like succeed now, that would likely establish a useful precedent to the future game developers to deliver the game with fake sys reqs and thus lower entrance threshold and then ramp it up during a following fixing-period. Combine this with the aggressive pre-purchase practices and you witness a dystopian game development cycle going live.

I just built this rig so that I could play Cyberpunk 2077 at high settings and now they tell me so sorry thanks for your money. Doubt I will buy another game from them.
    Perhaps their list of requirements is off a lot. They do seem to be all over the place so maybe I am wrong and I won't take such a huge hit in performance. I'll be very happy and buy the DLC if that is the case. If not I will probably uninstall the game.

    Dude, could you explain in a video exactly what law allows these bastards to hide a new remastered version behind the same game released 3 years ago?
    I mean, I understand that if CDPR wants to release a patch it has to support only that one instead of two distinct versions, an "old" version and the "remastered"...
    I also understand that there is a law that gives developers the ability to modify their products by issuing a press release 30 days before the patch is released...but I also know that this law is designed for free/freemium games that rely on purchases in-app not for AAA production games...
    Therefore:
    1. if that law allows developers the ability to raise the HW baseline, is there a law that allows consumers to ask for a full refund for the unilateral willingness to raise those specs, considering that physical copies of this game exist AND that we all own a KEY?
    2. Are there any consumer associations that might be interested in bringing these accursed speculators into line?

    I find it interesting the gpu requirements in my opinion are below average for what they should be asking a regular 2060 to use rt low even if it is 30 fps is super low balling it but then the cpu requirements are straight up laughable. 12900k for 60 fps? Seems like devs are really struggling with (or just not bothering to) optimise games for cpu. Star wars and last of us are exactly the same nothing about the games shouts insane cpu requirements yet unless you were on super top end 500+ dollar cpus you cant even get 60 fps regardless of your gpu lol.
    Hopefully the regular rt recommended aren't tested with frame gen on too because that would just be unacceptable. I mean these recommended are already unacceptable to be honest. You can tell this is a lazy developer pre-emptive strike. "hey billy are we gonna optimise the game at all? hah of course not, alright so how do we avoid backlash? just set stupidly high required hardware for very low frame rates so they can't complain"
    Also gonna love to see how this runs on console. Consoles have the specs that matches lowest 30 fps target shown here. Don't think ps5 and series x owners are gonna be happy being told best you can run is 30 fps lowest settings on a 500+ dollar console.

    I think they trying to push suttf for nvidia we konw they have a partnership cdpr trying to sell sutff why you think they pushing raytracing witch will make the game look better butt kill fps it will hit under 60 frames gd old cdpr all ways f up something plus I bet that is what nvidia recommends not actually cdpr like I said before cdpr is not a gd company they dirty this proves it plus why update recommend systems when the game really has nothing to do after level 50 whats the point I see it as corporation corruption

    The thing that baffles me, is the fact that for the ultra settings, the 3080 was compared to the 7900xtx.
