If you're new to my channel and videos, hi! I'm Evan Edinger, and I make travel vlogs of all the exciting places I visit. I started travel vlogging about 8 years ago because I wanted to see more of the world and be able to watch back some of my adventures. I also make weekly comedy videos every Sunday on my main channel usually revolving around funny differences between British vs American things! Anyway, thanks for stopping by!

I love seeing you turning this apartment into your own personalised space! Just shows what DiY can achieve with some patience and effort behind it
i relate to the paint thing so much, im renting a home rn and the security deposit requires no damages to the home.. but the paint came off because i tried to clean a wall... cleaning the wall resulted in having to buy a wholeass thing of paint and like a day of my life.. just to not lose £600..
Same happened at our last flat! Luckily Luke was super good at DIY so sorted out stuff. Glad I finally learned this stuff!
I love it when a plan comes together! Looks great Evan.
danke!
Well,it's so nice to see the care and interest your taking in your home but it did cost you real tears and stress to get it so I'm glad you love it. At the end I could see how much more elegant your kitchen was after your changes. It's good how you research how to do things first, and READ instructions.
As a professional chef and restaurant designer I will say...fantastic!
Spraying is best for cabinets to get "factory finish" but you can get a good look with a sponge roller. I noticed you are using Benjamin Moore Regal Select, you probably should have used Benjamin Moore Advance which is geared towards cabinets.
Most pro's here in the states will spray with tintable lacquer too instead of latex.
But still looks great, keep up the great work making it your own!
Zinsser make a BIN Primer for laminated surfaces such as cabinet doors or white Ikea drawer units etc. Sticks like the proverbial and then any paint can go on top. Probably of use to some people on here.
Love the colour scheme too. We've got a new kitchen going in soon which is dark matte blue lower units and white upper. 😁👍
That blue’s not a colour I would choose for my own kitchen, but I like how it works in yours. Really pops alongside the white. 👍🏻
Love this Evan! We’ve moving soon and having spent 3 years remodelling our current home (knocking down walls, building an extension, fitting a whole new kitchen), I just don’t have the energy (or the funds frankly) to rip everything out of the new place like we did here. These videos have given me so many ideas on how to add our own style into the existing features of the new place, thank you 😊
Well done Evan, your flat is looking really good. The light cover is such a good idea.
danke
evan decoration man arc is a very itnresting era of a mans life to watch..
haha just wait till the living room wall! THE FINAL ONE IN THIS SERIES!
...
maybe but I'll quickly show the studio once I finish it
Can we for a minute appreciate how good Evan looks in those overalls 🤭
I love your style! I don't know why I'd never thought of painting kitchen cabinets before. I just assumed if I wanted a different colour I'd need new doors 🤣
I only did cause I know my uncle painted mine (several years) before I bought this house from him. But I'm over here avoiding mine (the paint is really chipped) cause I don't want to go through all the work of taking my doors off... And now I'm sitting here watching Evan wondering if I even need to do that. Though... My doors do have wood between them... They don't touch
Looks fantastic; great colour choices! What a difference even the handles changes make. I wish we were able to buy our flat before having our baby, you make painting look so fun and effortless, like a Bob Ross of home improvement😅
absolutely love how your home looks and seeing the process of getting there, really makes me excited to own and fix up a home in the future, and also gives me inspiration for my own projects since our brains appear to work in similar ways (especially in regards to Having To Do Things Right and Putting Things Off)
also absolutely fascinated by how your clothes seem to gradually disappear with every new diy video
I LOVE how your kitchen turned out, that colour is so perfect and so simple to hide the LEDs as well!
Damn that’s a lovely kitchen. Living for shirtless Evan too! Looking good my friend! X
Your kitchen looks amazing. That blue is a lovely colour!
Thanks Grant :)
@@EvanEdingerTravel You're welcome 🙂
That bluey grey colour on the cabinets is much nicer than the sterile white, makes it look different from all the apartment kitchens that look the same
This looks great 😁 looks so professional.
And in relation to the blog about being British you did on the other channel and I can now say 100% yes that perfect British t-shirt tan proves it!
Looks great! I agree with you, as long as you like it, that's all that matters
A lot of work indeed!! Beautiful!
Well done Evan! 👏
Thanks Beth :)
TBH it's refreshing to see a guy's house that is actually clean and organised
The kitchen now looks less builder basic, however, the developer should have taken the wall cupboards up to the ceiling for more storage. Surprising to see that the splashback is not tiled BUT when I remodelled my kitchen, I didn't do tiling either and just had the walls painted with wipeable paint. I don't like the black accents because it is a trend that is pretty much rinsed out by now.
That navy blue colour on the cabinets is really trending right now because I seen so many renovation shows and they always make the cabinets blue, plus my sister did the same colour for her cabinets.
I do like that blue, that is a gorgeous blue.
Looks amazing , you have such a good eye for this !! 👍🏼
Loving the blue on the kitchen
It’s looking really good! I especially like the kitchen cabinets 👍🏻
love what you done
I apprciate it!
Lovely job👍
Gracias
Looks amazing evan. Love ir!!!
Thanks Susan!
@@EvanEdingerTravel i love your flat and the way you've done it up!
A-up - Evan;s gone full English and gone topless! That navy is absolutely gorgeous - litttle bit of bold , sophisticated statement there...wonder tof the accent wall will be the same colour? The home design journey continues so for the next time you break out the overalls ;-)
Love the new paint scheme, Evan. Nice work! I was surprised to see You changed out the range / exhaust hood! Will You be doing the faucet as well to match the matte black finish?
The paint in my flat is the same. I once scratched the wall with a pillow!! A neighbour had a painter in and he just laughed and said they had clearly gotten the cheapest water based paint and then watered it down more before spraying it on all the walls and ceilings
You SHOULD be proud!...you're doing great! Now please come help me paint my 150 year old Italianate! LOL 😁😆😅🤣😂
Okay but can we talk about that new range hood??
Sir! Where are your clothes in that painting bit @1:36? 😲😲😲
I was wearing... clothes... out of shot
@@EvanEdingerTravel doesn’t sound like you are too sure of that hahaha 😆
3:43 is Evan taking a leaf out of a famous host of a DIY show, where she describes the best way to paint/DIY is to wear as little as possible and that means going as far as getting naked - it is very easy to get paint off you (skin) and you do not have to throw away clothes that have pint on them!?
who?? but no I just figured that out for myself haha. It has been boiling in London and I've been wearing my lil painters outfit but it's sooo hotttt
Evan... Did you paint your island sans clothes? 🤣 Cause that angle...
Hi @Evan ive been a member 2yrs
OI HELLO! :D THANK YOU! Hope you're well :)
@@EvanEdingerTravel yep good 2 c u gotta place
Did I miss the part where you changed the range hood?
I was confused too!
are the kitchen doors high gloss? ive been wanting to paint mine but unsure if I can
They're semi-gloss so one step less
Are you going to change the tap/faucet to matte black as well, because now it doesn't match 😝
Looks great. Where is the refrigerator?
oh, haha, yes, where is it tucked away? I hadn't noticed on all the videos
Probably integrated in the cabinets under the peninsula? ….I guessed before he panned over to the wall opposite the window. Looks like a panel ready fridge over there.
Do they not use sugar soap in the UK? instead of sanding walls for example like I've seen you do, we wash them with this product called sugar soap to clean them before we paint! Just thought that was interesting as I haven't seen this before
Yup we do have sugar soap, I used it when I painted my bedroom.
I’m so confused as to why he’s painting the cabinet doors without removing them. It makes it so much easier to paint them and less messy.
"Hello small people", "Hello giant human"
Isnt it a leasehold?
That doesn't mean it's rented. Evan owns the property, in the UK all flats/apartments are leasehold. Usually its not an issue as the lease is hundreds of years, extending way beyond the lifespan of the mortgage, and in future generations it gets lengthened. I think it's something to do with the fact that somebody else owns the land the apartment block is built on and the communal areas, but you own the specific apartment you've bought within the block.
@@sarasate89 gotcha, sorry got my phrases mixed up. Meant shared ownership but if he's got an outright lease that's awesome
@@fishey334 ah no worries. AFAIK he does have a shared ownership but it is still considered owning your own home for the purposes of maintaining it, decorating it etc.
12:20 that's just being humble lol.. maybe a bit on the masochistic end of humble but not too far, you just don't want people to have an overly high opinion of you, maybe because you're scared to let them down? or want them to have a realistic view of you? obv that's readiing into it a bit, and obvs idk you beyond your content, but yea, sounds like that based on everything you described!
Wait…where’s the fridge?
It’s integrated into the big cupboard :)
imagine spilling ravioli or something in your house
I would uh… clean it up? 🤔
@@evan no you wouldn’t, shut up
When did Evan start deciding to post somewhat thirsty videos? Lol (joking here just fyi, since I know that's not what he does)
