BIG WHEEL FAT CAT DIRT BIKE PROJECT

- ATC 250R rolling chassis was $150. I sold rear tires for $75, swing arm for $80, rear plastic fender for $50 and rusty bottom end of the motor for $20. We ended up with half of the bike (front-end, frame, gas tank and seat) absolutely free and on top of that with $75 in our pocket.
Here is a list of items that we bought for this project. Another ATC 185s for $60. Handlebar grips from eBay $15, flexible exhaust pipe $18 from Orilley auto parts, Pro circuit exhaust tip for $50, white plastic side covers $30, Swing arm with brake drum (Honda fat cat) from eBay for $75, new brake pads from eBay $14.99, Rear sprocket (Honda fat cat) $12, Axle bolt (honda atc 110) was $10, red chain roller $5, chain tensioner bolts $3 dollars each, rear Tire was $60, Vinyl fabric $8, paint $16, Primer $8, 3M adhesive foam glue $8, Aircraft paint remover $10, flat stock metal for engine mounts $8 and flux core welding wire $16. and finally $5 decals or stickers (eBay)
Rolling chassis from atc 185s was also sold for $50. Entire build came out to roughly $300 not including all the elbow grease and hard labor my kid invested into this build. Thanks for checking out our video and God bless. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
I don't understand why there's 3+thousand dislikes 🤔🤔,I envy anyone who has a relationship with their dad and who has a dad who spends time with his son, kudos man great build!
Hey Scott
Glad you liked our project and we appreciate you watching and commenting. Dislikes are from ATC lovers who consider it a sacrilege to cut up a three wheeler. It was going to end up in a junk yard anyways so might as well make something out of it. Cheers
It's probably feminist and s0yb0ys that down voted this video. I for one am glad that you are spending quality time with your son and teaching him some traditional masculine skills.
People are just miserable turds, I for one loved the video and what you made out of this ATC. Looks like a fun little bike!
Because cutting up an ATC 250r is blasphemous. It’s got nothing to do with the father son thing.
Honda ATC purists will say you're a bad person for cutting up a good wheeler. I say piss off, I'm converting a 1983 185s right now.
Something simple to do would be to reverse each fork so that the angle increases. Much safer . You can also increase fork angle by getting shorter rear shock
Agreed! Seems sketchy if you ever go downhill with it you'll be over the bars! Needs a slacker angle
Hats off to you for having your Son involved. That's the most important. He won't be ready to ride that for a while. Good idea just adding the swing arm make it a big cat I like it. Now show us you ripping it up. Awesome job guys.
So nice to see a Dad and his Son so close and learning from each other. Very nice builds also and other than some weld spatter not cleaned off your welds are good enough to strong. I only mentioned the weld part as you commented about your welding. I used to build and work on many projects with my Son something to this day he still talks about. Now Started building and working on projects with my 10 year old Grandson 5 years ago he is now 15. It has been so much fun but now I am fighting cancer so my days are about gone. But it's been so great the time spent with them both having worked with my Son and than his Son. What a fantastic life I have had that I am so thankful for. Thank You for sharing, Cheers
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and i hope you get well enough to complete many more projects with your grandson. Hang in there, never give up and stay positive. Appreciate your support and thanks for watching.
Very cool!! It was really well done, and very informative. It is also awesome that you got the son involved. You get youtube father of the year award.
Thank you sir for kind words and for your support. Greatly appreciated. Cheers
This was brilliant to see father and son working together me and my dad fix up bikes aswell I've gotta convince him to do something like this soon we'll done guys
+tomahawk224
Thank you sir for your kind words and support. If you ever build one with your dad, upload it to youtube, i would love to check it out. Cheers

I've got a 70's 125 cc trials bike I'm wanting to do a fat tire build with, so I can make it a hunting/ TEOTWAWKI bike. Motor runs good but the Trials frame is done. Plan is to put the engine in a XL frame and build a wide swing arm and front triple tree for a ATV forks set.. Now I'm all inspired again. Well Done and a great bonding project for you two. A shorter rear shock would get your steering angle closer to 72 degrees.
That cheap air filter with no box is going to give you problems in dust n mud. Very cool build. I remember the original Yamaha 350 fat cats when they came out I was 8 years old. I had to use a crate to get on it. So much fun.👍👍
Looks factory from Honda. Good job guys.
Man you really know how to do shit, that was impressive man👍
Recycle when you can...as they have said for decades.. the purists can restore as they wish and do a great job of it when words turn to action. You are creating a new craze... keep up the great work and video detail.
best part of the build dad and son. you don't see much of that these days.. awesome
Thanks Jon for supporting our project and sharing your thoughts. Cheers

I love my 85' 250SX. I would love to build a bike like yours!!
much respect!!
Thanks for the inspiration to do this with some old 3 wheelers I have , looking forward to the ride
Awesome job but better yet you had your son working with you. Bet that is something he will remember for a long time.

no problem man I enjoy seeing people think out the box and doing the things I also like to do build stuff
That's great I aways love watching your builds. I wished I could find some of parts bikes like that here. They are really hard to find here. It has been fun watching your son grow up each build you guys do.
Thanks a million it means a lot to us. Who knew that bike builds can get so many views? Even though we don't make a whole lot of these projects but I try to get my son involved in most of them. Have a blessed day and thank you for watching.
These are extremely cool projects, but I admit that I am sad to see the ATCs being cut up.

one of the best projects I have seen in a very long time, and the father and son matched it up better then any video ever, You have inspired me to do so with my kids. I have a 3 WHEELER and this is awsome. Thank you very much, you never know what could happen in a video
Thanks a million Craig for kind words. Glad you liked our video and I hope that you and your kids find time to work or your project. Cheers

i really like it but what i really like is that you did it with your son thats valuable
Thank you Sir for watching and commenting on our video. We are glad that you enjoyed it and supported our "father and son" project. Cheers mate.
The shock isn't moving at all. That ain't good
R304 silencers are for 2-strokes btw
Thanks for the info Jason. I've used whatever was available at that time just to wrap up this project. Junk builds tend to have odd parts on them and sometimes they end up looking cool and unique and other times a head scratcher. Cheers
+balabay77 Whatever works, the bike catches the eye though, nice job.

Glad you liked it sir. You are giving us too much credit here. Its greatly appreciated but these projects are nowhere near factory condition. I try to get my kid involved in these projects to keep him out of trouble. We both learn new skills as we go along. Had no idea that these projects would be so popular on YT. Viewers like you inspire us to make more projects. Thanks a million and have a great day.

+balabay77 what kind of swing arm did you use?
Swing arm was from 1986 Honda fat cat that i got on eBay for $75.
What a great father son project. I am thinking of selling my 85 Honda 250SX and getting a fat boy or cat. You guys did a great job.

I've been watchin all the videos of your creations and I'm impressed. I make custom mini bikes an drift trikes as well but my welder is at work an is juss a hassle to take everything up there to work on. You guys are awesome on these keep it up. Thank you I will be purchasing one if these for home!!
Thanks Richard, glad you liked our videos. Lol Maybe some day I’ll learn tig welding but for now our cheap mig works great for what we do. Thumbs up for watching and commenting. Cheers.
nicely done. and getting your son involved is priceless.

Thanks for watching and commenting, we greatly appreciate it.
dude, sick job on the build, love it man. hope my 350 project come along as well as this one did.

Thank you sir for kind words and for watching our video. We made this bike out of junk parts and had no idea that we would get so many views. One you finish your project, upload it to CZcams we would love to check it out. Good luck with your bike. Cheers.
Its Jake from @ and a half men! LOL Thats a compliment kid....nice machine
My parents had a white & blue Honda Fat Cat 200 when I was a kid. I had an RM80 at the time, that fat cat was fun to ride for sure though. Really cool project, brought back memories seeing this bike.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and memories. My junk build was made out of several bikes including Fat Cat. Cheers.
Yours turned out awesome, looked like a brand new bike when you finished with it. Funny story, the first day my parents bought theirs when I was about 11 or 12, we went to test it out in a field locally where a couple other friends was riding. When I went to test drive it, I ended up flipping it end over end about 8 flips. It wrapped the handle bars around the tank, broke the front and rear fenders, and bent the forks lol. Luckily all it did to me was knock me out and chip a piece of bone out of my shin. I still got a dent on my shin from that day. We got it fixed and had it around for years.
+TheAmericanUhate
Dang that must of been one heck a tumble. Fortunately you lived to tell about it and the bike was fixed. Glad it all worked out.

Awesome job the forks backward is hurting my brain but again go dad Awesome build!
I had that year 250r , I flipped the forks on mine so the axle is up front of forks , you need a longer brake cable to make it work , very easy to do
+Harvey Hudspeth
Thanks for the tip. i might try to do that when i get a chance.
Thats a very nice ATV. If you want to make it safer and easier to handle, rotate the fork tubes so the front axle mount leads the fork tube instead of trails it. Thanks for sharing your project....
For sure. I was thinking of doing that soon. Just have to buy longer brake line.
My fovorite part of a dirt bike is the gas tank and the engine
Love your videos! What an awesome project between you and your boy.
Keep it up.
+2SlickNick
Glad you liked it slick Nick. I look forward to building more projects like these with my kid. Cheers
that looks totally legit, and you made it into a relatively safe 2 wheeler !! Very nice job fabricating !
Hi Bruce
Glad you liked our project.
Thanks for watching and commenting. Happy new year.
Awesome, bow to get the bugs out of it. Soften the rear spring pre load by unscrewing that big nut on to of the rear spring. And get a new set os bars. Those bent ones are ruining the ride. Maybe a valve adjustment as well.
I agree with JaseH1. When I watch your great work with your son, I see him in the near future starting to build his own rigs. I have watched several of your videos and I see him growing, and also doing better work. It shows in his paint application, how he does a better and better job of applying the paint in the base layers. Fabricating the rear ends is also great for him to see you do, because that cements in his mind the fact that he can also do it. Maybe he will build a Rock Hopper in a few years, and you can mortgage your house to finance the engine :) lol. Ahh, the long-term consequences of getting our kids interested in fun projects. On the other hand, you can make great money building bikes like you just finished in this vid. It is a great back-country trekking machine - rigged, quiet and if it has sufficient torque, able to carry a man and a weeks gear up steep slopes and deep into the back country. I want to build one. Where do you get the swing-arms and hubs?
Jerry W Davis
Thank you sir for kind words and glad you enjoyed our project. Trying to teach my kid new skills and hope that when he grows up, he will fondly remember all the quality time we spent together on these projects. Found swing arm and rear axle hub with axle bolt on eBay for $75. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers.
Good job looks like a fun ride i really like how hi it sits...

Awsome work!
Did a great job man looks beautiful
Very cool, I like it. I would agree with some of the previous comments about it needing more rake. If you changed the rear shock angle (so it sits a little lower in the rear), I think that would take care of rake and seat hight issue. Cause I'm sure your son would like to ride it after helping on the project. Would like to see a off road video.
Hello Royce
I will look for shorter mono shock to drop rear end maybe 2 inches. I'm hoping it will take care or the rake and trail issues. Here's off road video czcams.com/video/k-C-BeEXRzw/video.html
Thanks for advice, for commenting and watching our video.
That track is fire at the end

awsome videos! am building one of my own right now two wheel drive, very helpfull to see your concepts! u could easily change rear hight by extending lower shock mount up and towards tire if flipping front fork does not help, will also change leverage on shock and soften it up a bit.thanks for posting looking forward to see more.

Thanks for your suggestions and glad you liked our videos. I was cutting corners with this project and building it on the budget. If I knew that it would get so many views I would of made it much nicer but it is what it is. Anyways, good luck with your project and upload it once you are done with it. Would love to check it out. Cheers mate.
you bet, thanks i may need it lol, happy trails.
I have been watching your videos for the last two hours hahaha Lol, love this bike, you're awesome
Thanks a million Alexis. Glad you liked our little project and appreciate your support. Couldn't of done it without viewers like you. Cheers
م
Nice build. Two things you can do on the cheap to fix the way it rides and looks, turn the forks around so that the wheel in mounted in front of them and get a cheap ebay spring for a 125 dirt bike on the rear. That will help with the fork geometry and hopefully you won't go over the bars.
props to you, I want to be the same way with my kiddo and build stuff together. and that thing looks bad ass!

Thanks for kind words and glad that you liked our project. Kids grow up fast so we need to take advantage of this great opportunity and create fond memories that will last a lifetime. Cheers mate.

love it bud! nice job and good learning experience with your boy!!
Tommy T
Yes sir it was a blast working with my kid on this bike. Had no idea that our junk project would get so many views. Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching and commenting.
way awesome! . I suggest making a mudflap to go in front of the rear tire. between the tire and air filter to stop mud and water from getting sucked up in the carb.. and keep things cleaner.. but nothing bad to say at all. Very good job
+aquahaulic96
Glad you liked it. i was actually thinking about that and wanted to shield off the air filter from mud and water. rear tire kicks up a lot of dirt. Your suggestion is duly noted and thank you for commenting and watching my video. Cheers
other than the rear suspension geometry being off, it really is flawless build that can easily be remedied!
👍🏼
Aint1S
If I knew that our project would get so many views I would of made it much better. Glad that you liked it and I'll try to lower it with shorter rear mono shock. Cheers mate.
Good for you helping your son do a project
LOL He said that he couldn't of done it without me. Thanks for checking out our video.
Also painting that rear swing arm with a Honda silver would really help it stand out a bit more.
Good job!!
Love your conversion, They need to bring back the fat tire bikes like the Yamaha Big Wheel and Honda Fat Cat.

Indeed. They were unique trail bikes but I guess not fast enough for any type of competition. Thanks for watching our video and glad you liked it. Cheers.

Thank you for kind words. We might powder coat our next project for better looks and durability. Thanks for watching.

Just a little advice, you should lower the rear shock a little. Also take the front tire off then loosen the bolts on the triple tree and turn the forks around! It would make it more like a dirtbike and more stable!
AWESOME BUILD
Hold my 🍺! That's some impressive engineering.

Thanks buddy. I also wanted to own one but they were kind of pricey for their age so the next best way to get one is to make one.
great work. awesome job.
Nice and quiet too .
balabay 77 you build some of the sweetest bikes I have seen I like the black mini bike and the other red mini bike but I have to say that this one is my favorite one you have built and you went with a three wheeler motor I bet it is a fast as bike I am going to have to get ahold of you and have you make me one like this one I'd love to have this bike
