Just trying to explain some considerations when doing an ecotec swap, during me ecotec swapping my Z32. I am by no means the first one to do an ecotec swap, but I don't think there is an in-depth video explaining this. Please leave any questions if you have any, and I can drop another video. Happy swapping!
something I forgot to note: the lnf Shane cylinder is 1/2" shorter than the le5 for the solstice. this will cause issues for clutch engagement
Just found this. Great work here.
We need you in the Saab world to help us find a way to use ECU's from other GM models on Saab. Your retro fitting skills are amazing.
Thank you for the kind words!! On Facebook, there is a group called Ecotec RWD swap, there are some extremely knowledgeable people on there. I encourage you to join!
We will check it out and join up. . There is a thread going on Saab USA forum of your video after I shared it there. You are catching some praise over there. What ECU did you use on this build?
@@jhallbitches123 oh, awesome! Haha, thanks for sharing! I used a Megasquirt for this one, an ms3x, it worked great!
I had no idea that there were m8 to m6 adapter sleeves. that'll make things MUCH easier for me, thank you!!
@@turbo_co27 glad that helped!
Yes!
The dark horse of GM engine conversions. I've 2 of these LNF turbo boys at the yard right now and nobody is touching it.
You should scoop them up!!
where you located?

Thank you, and Good idea!
What adapter did u use?
Awesome scrib!!!
Hey man great info I’d love to ask you some more questions
Hi Hunter! Feel free to shoot me a message
@@flux_core_fx what’s the best way to go about messaging you? I’m not familiar with the CZcams interface lol.
@@hunteraldridge7435 good point, I don't know if there is a way to message lol. If you make a post on the Facebook ecotec rwd swap page, I will respond there
Been waiting for a month to get accepted into the group
@@hunteraldridge7435 is your name the same as your yt handle?
What year and model of Saab engine and turbo?
@@bakihanma7247 i think it was an 04-05 b207r. Just do some research, some of them have soft valves. I looked on car-part dot com for the appropriate engine. The b205 is a different family altogether
@@flux_core_fx sweet man thanks I'll definitely do my research on these. Planning on getting one of these to fit in the engine bay of my Gc8 without cutting the stock hood like I would with a tall K24 engine. Sr20 would fit perfect but there too pricey and rare now. I work at Lkq salvage and I see these ecotec engines everywhere
@@bakihanma7247 that would be an awesome swap. I believe the 06-07 2.4s have forged rods too. Those should be the ones with the oil cooler, but again this is going from memory. They should have come in the g6
I take it you know these engines well ?
I don't have the knowledge of a tech that works on these every day, but I have learned a bit about swapping them anyway
The misinformation is wildly out of control. I dont know why people just talk out of their back cheeks, blowing smoke. Is it for attention or is it just to make others miserable? No idea. Maybe both. Regardless, I can give you some tips. Stay away from the forms for good information. Talk to some actual tuners and builders to be pointed in the right direction.
I'd love to do a zoom style meeting with a few others who have done these swaps and upload it. There are several people with an insane amount of knowledge on these swaps
I havent done but a few swaps of these and assisted in others, letting people pick my brain. Im a parts + electrical guy, and GM and Ford factory trained guy, but Im always game to talk with other folks geeking out on the swap stuff. Put together a couple frankenstein monsters out of ecotec motors before on a budget so there is fun to be had with them. You ought to also look into Vortec 4200 inline 6 for fun. @@flux_core_fx
