    Ryan. Handles really good on the frozen tundra. Having hard tires and frozen temps (along with some ice) makes it a little difficult to stick it. I’m just glad to see that Horizon/Eflite has made note of that on their warbirds and offer softer tires on this one for those who want to go that route. 👍👍

    Guys, this plane is amazing as well as the P51. I'm really liking the Spektrum NX series radios. I'm using a Jumper T16 with Spektrum rx and frsky at the moment. Only reason was because of all the talk about failsafe with Spektrum products but I've been using their rx with my Jumper tx and no issues. I don't like that I cannot really use all the telemetry features of Spektrum with it so I may have to look into getting the NX transmitter. Plane wise man it's a beauty and stable for a warbird. Nice flying Ryan.

    ....why the hell would I buy this $500 foamy when I can go over to Legend Hobby and get a balsa FW-190 ARF the same size for $200 and build that out for far less *with a four stroke powerplant*? What does this aircraft bring to the table that I can't get out of the balsa ship?

    • @PilotRyanMedia
      @PilotRyanMedia  Před 3 lety +2

      It’s electric, easy to deal with, outboard wing panels come off, it comes with onboard telemetry preinstalled, suspension, stabilization, safe if you want it, people like foam. Nothing wrong with balsa, choices are great to have.

    • @ricardopr54

      @@PilotRyanMedia Great response Ryan!...👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

    • @ricardopr54
      @ricardopr54 Před 2 lety +1

      For starters electric power plants are way more reliable than the gas or nitro ones!... They are messy, and if you happen to crash, foam is easier to repair!... I'll let you meditate about those two of many order reasons I mentioned about why Foamy planes are better than Balsa! 👍🏾

    • @TestECull
      @TestECull Před 2 lety

      @@ricardopr54 Lol I seem to have the least trouble out of my planes of anyone on the flightline even though I fly exclusively nitro.
      Foam is better in a crash? *Git gud then.* Stop crashing so much. You're supposed to be bettering yourself as a pilot, not crashing planes all the time and laughing like an idiot while never actually improving any.
      Here's a couple perks for YOU to meditate on for why fuel beats electric.
      1: Flight times. Most of my planes will fly for 20-30 minutes at a go. If I pull the coals out of 'er and just laze about the flight pattern I can get nearly 40 minutes out of a tank of glow fuel. GAs engines burn a fraction the fuel glow engines do; one tank will fly you around all damn afternoon with a gasser!
      2: Better sound. Electrics just sound boring. Two strokes sound better, 4- strokes sound fucking amazing.
      3: More flights in the day. When I go to fly I invariably sit back and wait for the electric guys at my club to burn through their stash of lipos, then while they're standing around the charge post waiting for beeps and boops I'm out there chaining flight after flight after flight after flight after flight back to back to back. I stop only to refuel, take right back off again.
      4: Your CG doesn't move between flights. Balance once and forget about it unless you have a rough landing that shifts stuff around inside the aircraft. With an electric bird you have to check and verify CG, and usually adjust it, every single time you go to fly that aircraft because the battery is never in the same place twice.
      5: You have a MUCH MUCH wider variety of aircraft to fly going back to the earliest days of the hobby. You are not beholden to what Dynam, Freewing, and Horizon Hobby deign to produce. And you can just scratchbuild whatever the hell you want to.
      6: Balsa fuel planes handle wind about 250% better than electric foamies do. The extra weight is the key; foamies are just too light and get blown around by the slightest breeze. This is why gyros are so insanely popular these days; foam planes are too light for their own good and require it to fly in windy conditions.
      7: They teach you skills you need to know but will never learn if you only ever fly foamies. How to rudder, for starters; I see this at my local flying field too. People who've never flown balsa almost never use their rudders. They don't need to because the light foamies they usually fly will let them get away with it, and so they never learn how to properly fly their aircraft. They can't handle crosswind landings, they ground loop taildraggers all the time, they struggle to steer their aircraft in a smooth and coordinated manner through the sky. And that's just one example...
      8: They can and sometimes do have more power than electrics. It depends on the aircraft and setup but a lot of the time RTF and PNP foamies aimed more towards beginners will have very soggy electric power systems that can't even match a glow two stroke from 30 years ago. FLite Test is particularly bad about this; I tach'd a B-pack on 3s, which is the recommended configuration for the Simple Scout alongside most of the Simple series, and got worse numbers than my FS26 Surpass gives! That little 4-stroke turns a bigger prop at a higher speed.
      9: For some of us, the engine is half the point of flying in the first place. I find myself in this category; I have flown electrics a couple times and they just do not do it for me. I have to have the engine to enjoy what I'm doing.
      10: One word: Turbine.
      11: Safety. Electrics bite people unexpectedly all the time AND people burn their houses/cars/garages down charging lipo batteries ALL THE TIME. These are not issues befalling the fuel pilot; an engine cannot take your fingertip off without warning and fuel planes generally do not use volatile lithium polymer batteries(and can be flown without lithium chemistries of any sort!).
      If you want to fly nothing but electric foamies, that's fine. You fly what puts a smile on your face. I will never tell you to fly something you don't enjoy flying. But coming in here and trying to claim electric foamies are the best planes in the hobby and nothing else can compare is just plain objectively wrong.
