- It’s one of those weeks where it’s almost too much to bear. In the wake of mass shootings, Louisiana issues new rules on gun control that are borderline infuriating. The rise of Measles for no good reason will make your head spin. Meanwhile Missouri Senators are debating draconian rules of engagement. If that isn’t enough, another Government shutdown is exactly what we don’t want or need right now. The week was a lot, so much in fact maintaining the proper level or rage over Alabama’s Embryo ruling going to have to wait.
The rants this week come from far and wide and once again rants from the stage as Lewis made two recent stops in Detroit, MI and Waukegan, IL.

22:00 It is NOT Congress that has failed to pass bills, it is the Republicans in the House of Representatives who have failed to pass bills. The Speaker of the House would not bring any bills to vote unless his own party would pass it by themselves (instead of compromising with Democrats).

First, I'd like to say that you have been one of my favorite comedians for decades now. There are lines that you said during your performances ages ago that have stuck with me ever since. If frozen embryos are children, would an IVF clinic moving their storage freezers out of Alabama count as kidnapping?
Yet alone, if the couple part ways, is child support due to pay half the freezer cost?
From a party that specializes in shortsighted decision-making, that was the most shortsighted decision in a while. Even for THEM.
It may at least feel like kidnapping to the possible parents. It’s amazing to me that these righteous old white guys are so protective of embryos but don’t give a rat’s behind about the mother, who is a fully grown person. Astounding.
It would be okay if they got the embryos to work off the cost of their frozen homes.

About the good guy with a gun argument... I'd say that's a good argument if I can produced a list of all the gun owners in the country and you highlight which ones are:
1. Good guys with a gun.
2. Good guys with a gun unless they lose their temper.
3. Good guys with a gun unless they have a few too many drinks.
4. Good guys with a gun unless they get scared.
etc.
If you can actually highlight (from a list of gun owners) the good and bad and conditions, then I'd be 100% behind the good guy with a gun argument.

1) the reason battery packaging is such a nightmare, especially watch batteries, is because when babies eat them - and they LOVE eating them - they die
2) freedom to carry a gun is nice and all but what about OUR fucking freedom to not have to worry about us and our kids getting fucking shot? Does our freedom matter at all, or is it just your freedom that’s important?
I had to rewind the PETA story. That is one is a little of an over reach. I am in a small town and have lots of friends who own/ride horses. I am not sure that removing them from a carousel would make a single person change their lifestyle. The kids of my area have rocking horses is PETA going to come after those next. Grandpa has built those for everyone in town that has had a child over the last couple decades. Are they going to cancel my grandpa? What a world we are turning into. Love the rants and your words at the beginning of the shows. You make me feel like I am normal with you outrage on most things that I feel the same way.

18:40 actually the shut-down is not due to needing to raise the debt ceiling (which would be paying our bills), it is due to them not deciding whether or not to spend anything on anything. In other words, it is the budget for right now that does not exist!

I think Chris is onto something with the gun laws. Two words for the lovely couple who couldn’t get their batteries out of the package: Kuhn Rikon. These scissors are serious & have saved my sanity. Lol
The guy who has a problem with opening the batteries had me thinking wow. I received a ceramic blade that 1 mm long specially design to open those packages without cutting yourself or the batteries. I hardly ever use it because I am a pro with a pocket knife but after hearing his troubles I would like to suggest that he looks into buying one. Its called a safety cutter, package opening tool. Only like 6$. Mine is the shape of a cute bird and the little beak is a ceramic blade. I hope you read this and I know it’s going to work perfectly for your future packages. I didn’t realize the frustration that this caused anyone until hearing your rant. I don’t necessarily think we need to put the people to death who packed up your batteries. I would rather have my battery packed well than having them get damaged in transit. The stuff inside the battery is no joke. Good luck and enjoy next Christmas with no first aid required. I just looked up the name it called a Birdy box cutter its $5.50 problem solved my friend

This is starting to happen. Look at the Crumbleys in Oxford, Michigan who were convicted of involuntary manslaughter after their son, Ethan, killed 4 of his classmates and injured many more at Oxford High School with a weapon his parents purchased for him.

Hey Lou. I had the same battery predicament. Only it was for the remote that starts my push button start car. So whether I’m able to drive my car or not is totally dependent on if I can wrestle these batteries from the double layered extra strength plastic wrap from which they are encased. MADNESS!!!
For future reference, a manual can opener can work wonders on the edges of these packages 😊

I'm a vegetarian and disagree with pet stores selling birds, especially. However, removing fake horses on a carousel. Just no. I have celebrated many, many PETA accomplishments, but not this one. Waste of time. They need to work on making it illegal to sell birds, snakes, lizards, etc. Those animals are naturally outside and don't need to be caged. Cats and dogs should only be gotten from shelters to sell in pet stores.
