I'm glad she has someone. My grandmother had neighbors who mowed her lawn and came by every week to visit her and everything. Her family was a minimum 7 hours away, us being 10 and her oldest daughter living in Arizona over 20 hours away driving. She lived to 92 and ended up moving in with the Arizona daughter for her final years.

I did some volunteer work where all we would do is go talk with elderly people and they loved it. Their faces would light up when we came in. It goes to show you that money isn't real currency, but as human beings, relationships are! God bless this man and cover him with your protection!

I would argue that it costs a lot to be kind, which is why kindness can be less commonly spent on those we aren't close to. I value his kindness, the time and patience he spends here, and hope it inspires others. But I also try to empathize with those who don't have that patience, or spend that time. Because they've spent it elsewhere, or because life has run them low. Maybe Kindness is like a 'take a penny, leave a penny' - when you have a surplus, you share it, so that when you're in need, you might receive it. :3
