Fighting Back Against Project 2025

  • Project 2025 is an unprecedented threat to democracy, equality, and religious freedom in America. And that threat is very real.
That’s why Americans United is sharing the story of Liz and Gabe Rutan-Ram, a Jewish couple in Knox County, Tenn. Liz and Gabe were denied the chance to adopt a child in Florida by a state-funded foster care agency - solely because Liz and Gabe are Jewish. After trying to provide a loving, stable home for this child, they were subjected to outrageous and unacceptable religious discrimination.
As Gabe Rutan-Ram explains in this new video, “If Project 2025 can come for us, it can come for anyone.”

They are lying about what it said. Pause the video when they show the paragraph, and you'll notice that they cut out the part that says that the religious belief was to place kids in homes with a married man and woman. They actually fit the criteria of what it said, but the took snippets and claimed it prevented them.
This is the type of lying that happens everyday from the left, but if you don't check for yourself, you'll never know.

      Let me count the ways!
      1) Replacing expertise in the government with political appointees
      2) Promoting single family houses over apartments
      3) Promoting ICE cars over mass transit and more roads
      4) Forcing Christian practice on everyone - schools, Sabbath observance
      5) Making any mention of trans people, or anything but absolutely straight, illegal
      6) Ending EPA and FDA so it’s OK to mess up the environment and sell contaminated food and drugs
And so much more. It is over 900 pages outlining a dictatorial, oppressive government based on ideas that deny reality.

I found the article of this couple in the associated press. It happened two years ago when a United Methodist organization in TN refused to offer them training because they were Jewish. That's real Antisemitism. But they fought it and TN Child Welfare instead offered them the required training. They have been fostering a teen girl recently and they wish to foster another. My kudos to them opening their hearts and home to a teen. I work with children and teens for over 10 years as a Social worker and sometimes its pretty rare that individuals open their homes to teens. That's why they sound like an amazing couple to me😊

Unfortunately, I couldn't take conversion classes because the temple was 20 miles away and my mom didn't want to drive me. She said my friend's mom could drive me. But back in those days, kids didn't ask other people's parents to do that! My point being, the foster child could independently make a decision to become a Christian, you can change religions from your upbringing!! So the agency is not acting in good faith.

My aunt and uncle were foster parents when I was a kid growing up. It was honestly horrifying seeing what those kids went through, and what they looked like. You could just see the pain on their faces when they arrived at my aunt and uncle's / grandparents house.
You can tell it was shocking to them, as they had never been around people who treated them with unconditional love. They always had the expressions of adults, the sadness of an adult in their eyes, and that always broke my heart. Now that I'm older, it makes me even more upset....they deserved to be love.
If someone can prepaid for a child emotionally and financially, that is all that matters.... Honestly even when it comes to the financially thing, I feel 50/50 on it. As there are so many thousands of children in Foster care, and I feel like placing them into homes even if that home happens to be impoverished,it would be better than them being in foster care and eventually aging out at 18. The state is already paying anyways for these children to be cared for, not why not pay for them to be cared for in a house where they will be loved?
I just cannot fathom how this is the world that we are living in in 2024 in America...

There are 397,091 children in foster care , if they want to adopt, that is wonderful, they should be allowed to adopt.

And yet while the right seeks to discriminate against those of Jewish faith they also bleats about support for Israel. Who do they think live there?

The reason they bleat on about support for Isreal, is because of the chapter in the Bible about Armageddon. It is where the final battle between heaven and hell will take place, and make way for the second coming of Jesus Christ. But most importantly, the Isrealites will, en mass, realize that they have been wrong all along, and convert to Christianity. So, the GOP/Evangelicals do not really care about Jews at all. But they need Isreal to exist, to fulfill this prophecy.

Thank you very much for this video. And I hope this family is able to grow. And thank you for fighting Un-American Project 2025. One question? Would you please create the same commercial without all the music in the background.? The music in the background (when people talk over music) is challenging for people on the spectrum. I cannot share videos like this that have people talking over music with my group(s). A little bit of music goes a long way, but when people are talking if you could have no music, that would be really helpful.

How was that allowed? They directly cited that they were discriminating based on religion. That's illegal. Denying a child a loving home because of that is utter madness.

Technically they didn't deny them adoption they refused them as clients because they only serve Christians.
Now if they had accepted them as clients and then denied based on religion that would be discrimination.
      Not my thinking... Their thinking.

Anyone who claims to be a Christian is a "real Christian" or a "true Christian" there is no way to differentiate between who is real or true. Christians aren't like them have to be the ones to clean up their own house.

If religious organizations are the foster and adoption agencies that the state supports with public money, then they should not be permitted to discriminate on the basis of religion or sex/gender.

When asked by Peter how to enter the Kingdom, Jesus replied, “ love God, love your neighbour”, both were equal. When asked how one should love one’s neighbour, Jesus replied, “ feed the hungry, care for the sick, and give shelter to the homeless”. He meant it. Isaiah said that a nation is judged by its care for the widow and the orphan. He meant it. The Chistofascist Evangelicals are not Christians. Christians follow the teachings of Jesus. They do not. I am not trying to push my religion on anyone. I am simply saying that if you claim to be a Christian, be one.

Foster parent from a blue state here, this is utter bs. They are not in any way allowed to ask us our religion in our state. Now if the child belongs to a particularly strict religious family that wishes them to continue going to church, we are supposed to honor their wishes and take the child to a similar denomination. We're not allowed to take them to a different religious sect. Ex: they're 7th day Adventist and we're presbyterian. We'd have to attend 7th day adventist services. It does not need to be the same church though. If we were in the position to adopt vs the ultimate goal of reunification, then we would be sole parents and could stop going if that was our choice. But as long as the kid is in the system the parent gets the final say in things like religion and hair cuts and a few other things. I couldn't even imagine this bs. How horrific.
