- Blizzard's Overwatch cinematic premiered at BlizzCon this year on November 7th, 2014...the first IP released by Blizzard for over 17 years! I shot the audience reaction to the world premiere of the cinematic during the opening ceremony of BlizzCon. Always fun to witness!!

@@ers4690 Blinking up makes a lot of sense and is definitely not useless and the reason why it's not in the game, since tracer blink is instant, dodging skilshots or something that sould 1 shot you, makes really good, especially if you could blink up and then blink forward above the said target, it would make his day hard, especially since if he is aiming upwards, he can't hit your head, but you can hit his head.
It would be op, and the reason why it doesn't exist. Not to mention you can easy gain higher ground and more flanking routes with it. I assume you never met a grandmaster or a master tracer.
Would anyone else pay to see a Overwatch movie? In this style obviously.

I still love the characters and lore of this franchise. If only I could say the same about the ones in charge of it. This used to mean so much
Exactly man, now it’s 26$ skins, battle passes (which I hate with a blazing fury) and honestly some subpar Choices in general, but the animations are still quite good, look at the recent junkerqueen animation, that felt like it atleast tried to have character to it, a globetrotting adventure is an amazing idea to me, I just hope they either realize their mistakes (very unlikely) or give Overwatch a quick death.

@@7CUJO well 3 months later the game’s technically getting better, but still has quite a ways to go. It’s got the bones of something truly special and they seem willing to improve upon it. I’m still waiting with baited breath for the story campaign which was the entire point of OW2s existence and what I was most excited for, but generally speaking the PvP is fun bar a few outdated or unbalanced characters.
Each time I see this cinematic I literally shed a tear, don't know why but it's absolutely amazing!

+David Luong I really need to congratulate all the artists who work in Blizzard. Your work is brilliant job after job but this...this is just wonderful. Stunning animation, music, sound, timing, the inner story... all that and more in less than 6 minutes!!! No amount of movies can show the same quality in more than hour nowadays. Congratulation again, you put an smile in my face when the cinematic was over, just like a kid., I think it's the best compliment an artist can receive.

I wish I could have that feeling again of when Overwatch was fresh, new, and exciting. I remember playing 24/7 during beta and anxiously waiting for release b/c I craved to play.

David Luong The one thing I hate about this is the supposed love they forced in with Tracer and the older brother. I hate that! Every movie has someone wanting dick or pussy.
***** Call me autistic ('cuz I am) but I'm not picking up on any supposed love between Tracer and Brian... She seemed more relieved that things turned out well to me and decided to drop some encouraging words simply 'cuz what Brian did _was_ heroic for a 15 year old and she can see the potential for greatness in him (he _did_ use Doomfist's gauntlet, after all, which has to be pretty impressive for a kid with no experience... even if he _did_ kinda break it in the process). And, on Brian's end, I'm getting the feeling that he's kind of meant to be a gamer surrogate; that he's basically _us_. His actions do kinda bring to mind what we all do on a daily basis in the interactive worlds of fiction after all, no? Sure, he does make a goofy little smile there at the end, but who can blame him? He was just encouraged to dare to be a badass by Tracer (who, let's be honest now, is kinda cute). Now, I don't know about you, but if I got the heroic seal of approval from a cute heroine back when I was 15, I'd probably experience butterfly sensations, too.
To be frank, if anything, I'd criticize _you_ for dragging your mind through the gutters and seeing shipping subtext everywhere... I mean, Tracer is 26 and Brian is 15... If he thinks she's cute/attractive then I can understand that, but if the feeling is mutual, then Tracer is an ephebophile. I don't think Blizzard (or any other company) would pull off something like that.

Even though I've never played the game, I already feel super invested in these characters and the story. I love the heroes, I hate the villains, and I can't wait to see more of Overwatch saving the day.
Also, story mode and/or movie. A PvP can't really live up to the lore you've created here (although I've heard the game is still awesome).
+Mattias Westby Game is great! There are a ton of in game interactions between characters which provide some more insight than you think into the lore.

I've never played Overwatch, (in fact I got interested with the game because of its "rivarly" with Team Fortress 2, which I actually play and love), but after I saw this trailer I would gladly watch an Overwatch movie. Or TV series, that could work even better.

So awesome to watch. Thank you! I think what makes this unique is the literal "wholesomeness" of the designs and personalities that everything demonstrates. It is powerful and inspiring- exactly the reason companies like Disney or Pixar are appreciated by millions. This is what I look for in entertainment; wholesome and inspiring content. Thank you so much for inspiring me and others.
EDIT: After reading that the OP works for Blizzard- I just want to say that this theme and work you all have created has literally moved me to tears multiple times. It is emotional, thoughtful, and creative. I hope you have more for the story and game as time goes on, and I look forward to everything you do. That quote from doom fist in the origin story always gives me goosebumps whenever I see it and that’s one of the reasons I love Overwatch.
Wow...4 years of Overwatch. Through rough patches and new heroes. Through new animated shorts, and competitions. We were here for a great ride. Who woulda thought that 4 years later. On the exact same stage we’d be gettin ready for the second adventure of Overwatch. Overwatch 2. Feels like it’s only been a few days since I was playin Genji on Gibraltar for the first time...how things change, man. Wow...just wow. Well guess it’s time for a new adventure...but not without having made a few good memories...

Thank you! All the videos I've found always cut to the cinematic without the audience reaction which misses the point IMO! We can see the clean trailer on the Blizzard website but it's the audience reaction that really adds even more energy to it. I appreciate you posting this vid!

This was only 5 years ago and for some reason this gets me all excited and nostalgic even though I didn't even play the game that much. No idea why. I guess Blizzard did something right.
Crazy how early doomfist was introduced despite taking a while to get to the game. This makes me nostalgic and honestly sad.

Holy shit it's been such a journey. I can't even imagine what it was like to be there in person. Just watching this video and imagining what it would have been like to see all of this for the first time gave me chills all the way through. This game may have it's problems (hopefully most of which are fixed with the 222 update) but I still love this game and I hope that it's forever remembered as a masterpiece.
Bro this was certainly the start of a brilliant journey and even now, today I would have never of thought of overwatch 2 being released those 5 years ago when I first put the game into my Xbox and readied my self up for quick play.

Here I am in 2019 still waiting for this to be a movie. Same style, same voices, same lore. OW2 reveal made me want this even more. It’s like the series was created for the big screen as well as our monitors. One can dream right?
